The Real Cylons From The Battlestar Galactica You Never Saw
io9.com — We just got an email from Tom DeSanto, executive producer of the abortive Bryan Singer Battlestar Galactica series, saying the Cylon picture we featured yesterday wasn't actually from his series. (Despite being labeled by its creator as concept art for the 2001 relaunch.)

- folkish, on 07/26/2008, -2/+66I prefer my toasters with the sleek cg look, not so much the robotic football player.
- thelaxdude, on 07/26/2008, -1/+14I still say that real Cylons* have swords, leather skirt fringe, wear Bauer hockey gloves, and say "By your command".
That being said, the RDM ones are still best.
*By real Cylons, I mean the robots the giant lizzard Cylon race created. - SteveMTyler, on 07/27/2008, -2/+11so some blog found the battlestar galactica website?
- boombye, on 07/27/2008, -0/+1These aren't on the website, and that version was to be made by another studio, but that project was canceled, so they probably found it on the website for the concept artist, which is where I remember seeing them a long time ago.

have a look, you don't know anything.- boombye, on 07/31/2008, -0/+1I don't know anything? I have a link to more concept art images for the DeSanto version than what io9 or that link has.
38 concept art images from that project:

There were more on www.cylon.org too, where I remember seeing them a long time ago, but that site doesn't appear to be working anymore. - boombye, on 07/31/2008, -0/+1And when I say they aren't on the website, I'm talking about the official scfi.com/battlestar page, the one you linked me to is a fan run site managed by Richard Hatch and some other people. The project was supposed to be done between USA Televison and Fox but Fox pulled out before it ended up being revived again by Ron Moore for Sci Fi. There was a previous attempt by Richard Hatch like right before DeSanto's version also. http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Battlestar_Galac ...

- Stormwern, on 07/27/2008, -1/+5All futuristic armor of the last 40 years are based on stormtroopers.
- LiberalKid, on 07/27/2008, -0/+7Considering the fact that these were made in 2001, maybe you should be asking where the crysis devs got their idea's from.
- nothin2g, on 07/27/2008, -3/+1nah... ***** you.
- IphtashuFitz, on 07/27/2008, -2/+4I saw some images posted on another site that are similar to this but that also had Mad Max/Road Warrior type spikes on the head, which I though was a little ridiculous. The full body picture looks too much like a guy wearing a rubber suit to me. I much prefer the way the toasters turned out on BSG to these concepts since they're truly robotic in design and don't look like they could be a person wearing a costume.
- gu0d, on 07/27/2008, -3/+9Beers. Beets. Battlestar Gallactica.
- ufia, on 07/27/2008, -0/+2Bears do not... what's going on? What are you doing?
- cnot3, on 07/27/2008, -2/+1That. Quote. Is getting old.
- Rikkochet, on 07/27/2008, -0/+4Not really, because I've yet to see one person do it right.
- ufia, on 07/27/2008, -0/+2Bears do not... what's going on? What are you doing?
- kponto, on 07/27/2008, -1/+6Looks like a Space Marine.
- BestJaxx, on 07/28/2008, -0/+3I think it looks a little more like something from Killzone 2.
- Vargrimar, on 07/28/2008, -0/+1I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought that.
- teamgwho, on 07/27/2008, -0/+10Looks like the original BSG Cylons and the T-800's had a baby.
One fugly baby.
No offense but I am glad they didn't use this design.
I love the design they actually went with as it looks wholly original not an unholy Rosemary's baby of something someone else already created. - bokep, on 07/27/2008, -9/+1insert smartass comment here
- adml_shake, on 07/27/2008, -0/+7Wow, thank god that one never made it on air. I think I'd have laughed every time they got screen time.
- nothin2g, on 07/27/2008, -4/+15***** you. Two of my friends died wearing cylon helmets.

- PhillyMJS, on 07/27/2008, -0/+1Reminds me of the power armor from Fallout.
- nothin2g, on 07/27/2008, -3/+17***** you. Two of my friends died posting "I, for one, welcome our new Cylon overlords" on digg.

- sajuuk, on 07/27/2008, -2/+2buried. I like my cylons as walking chrome toasters. And I like my BSG with 1970's special effects and with added humor.
- SwordFish666, on 07/27/2008, -0/+3God damn toaster....
- H0tKarl, on 07/27/2008, -2/+6I never really liked Star Wars.
- Thumper13, on 07/27/2008, -0/+2Looks like Two Face had a cylon baby.
I'll stick with the new toaster. - mogebier, on 07/27/2008, -1/+5Is this the series that Richard Hatch was trying to get off the ground??
If so, he was at a Sci-Fi convention a few years ago and showed us a short clip they made to try and sell the show. The clip had CGI Cylon ships and the Colonial uniforms were colored, but basically looked the same as the old series. Also, Apollo was in charge of the Galactica. - kolop1, on 07/27/2008, -1/+4I've never watched this show but that looks cool.
- VonHugenDong, on 07/28/2008, -0/+3Nomad?
- username7410, on 07/28/2008, -0/+4These are not cooler, in fact, they're not cool at all.
- LeeDoyle, on 07/28/2008, -0/+4Dug for mentioning BSG
- threepm, on 07/28/2008, -0/+5Thank the gods that frackin thing didn't make it to the show.
- 3leggedHorse, on 07/28/2008, -0/+1That mofo looks like a metal pig. Real Cylons look like the Romans.
Cloaks, swords and that Mohican on top. - TheGhostMan, on 07/28/2008, -3/+1Bsg sucks ass
- Bullsnot, on 07/28/2008, -0/+3WTF you cant have a cylon with independent eyes!!
The side to side eye with sound effects or human body, no inbetween. - kalos, on 07/28/2008, -1/+2Two freaking pictures and this crap makes it to the front page?
- bshock, on 07/28/2008, -1/+1If that's what you think is "cool," you are seriously impaired.
