Wow. What a surprise - TMZ is populated by sleazy, unethical scumbags. Who'd have guessed? - Slimem88, on 10/10/2007, -6/+34Too bad we couldn't have saved him from War of the Worlds.
- thethresh, on 10/10/2007, -1/+27TMZ = teh *****. They would publish pics of their moms on crack if it meant higher hits on their site.
- miyamotofreak, on 10/10/2007, -5/+20I thought War of the Worlds was pretty ***** good. Was it Tom that killed it for everyone?
- BobbyMC, on 07/21/2008, -0/+14Body double? *****, if you've got the FBI backing you up I would have just gone myself complete with fedora and a whip.
- Conquerist, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1118 minutes after the first comment isn't even close :P. Anyhow, who gives a *bleep* about first comment? Also, did you ever wonder what that "Click to edit" link does?
- pikpikcarrotmon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10We would have buried it anyway
- 1337Einstein, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10I still would have buried it if it were.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+13A blog making jumped up generalizations about bloggers and itself. Wow. Will it implode in a gay little puff of pretension?
- miyamotofreak, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Ubuntu and Ron Paul over > Paris Hilton
- joshua5, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7"The internet is a communications tool, used the world over, where people can come together to bitch about movies and share pornography with each other. This is a site populated by militant movie buffs. Sad, pathetic little bastards living in their parents basement, downloading scripts and what they think is inside information about movies and actors they claim to dispise, yet can't stop discussing."
- capiCrimm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6What they really need is pics of them breastfeeding while their moms snorting coke off their stomachs, that'd get the page views.
- ThinkBox, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6This isnt a leak of news, its GIGs of Intellectual property, scripts and pictures of sets, a LOT of inside information an personal items.
Much different from - OMG THE IPHONE HAS TOUCH! - Godlike, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3holy ***** that is funny
- Godlike, on 10/10/2007, -5/+8No it's the stupid ***** story. I am a huge sci-fi fan but oh please... fifth graders write better journal entries about outer space than this junk. I don't care what else the man wrote, war of the worlds is CRAP.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4lol, one person who just happens to be a blogger helped with the mostly FBI-driven sting operation and suddenly the "online movie community" has saved Steven Spielberg? Man, nothing like an utterly hyperbolic headline to get diggs.
- genericwhiteguy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I thought that the story was pretty faithful to the spirit and major plot elements of the book. It was obviously updated by over 100 years, but it sounds like you might have a problem with the actual book the movie was based on.
I didn't like the Pal version with its heavy-handed religious elements so I thought this was a pretty good update. I would like to see one based entirely on the original book and set in the 1800's with some great steam-punk designs. - bshock, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Oh noes! Script pages and photos from Indy IV getting online would absolutely ruin the whole experience for us! No one would ever go to this film if they saw script pages and photos from it!
Please, spare me this nonsense. I'm sure a sensitive soul like Mr. Spielberg feels violated by the theft, and well he should. But it represents absolutely no damage to the movie property -- quite the contrary. The Indiana Jones fans who want to see the film are not going to be dissuaded from doing so by any number of leaked script pages or images. And the general public either isn't going to see this stuff, or will simply become more interested because of it.
So, it was wrong to steal these materials. But once they're out, there's no particular virtue to suppressing them. - InvisSoul, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Great if this only happened in other worldly crimes that take place everyday other then some movie being stolen. *ring* "helloo FBI" Internetz "Spielbergs laptop was stolen!!" FBI "Were right on it"
I guess hollywood is really more important then, terrorists. - GunsGermsSteel, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Aside from the hyperbolic title, let's not pretend that it's not in the best interests of all involved not to disseminate stolen material. It's not an ethical stand. It's just good business. Don't run highly valuable material if you ever want to be taken seriously in Hollywood. At the very least, any site to run the material would have been blacklisted by Paramount, Spielberg, and Lucas for all eternity.
- ToastPop, on 04/17/2009, -2/+3Kind of like Gizmodo with a gadget info leak, or Kotaku with news on a gaming industry leak, or... even past blog postings about IPHONE info leaks!!!
The press publishes leaks, no matter what field it is. - Rfriaz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Hilarious way to second-post...
- pewtercow, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1on one hand, i would have liked to see the scripts but i guess its a good thing that those outlets didnt outright just buy it, eventhough it would have also been bad for them because of the FBI.
- ZenMojo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Most of it's dead on, modified by 9/11 imagery. People are allowed to hate whatever movies they want, but I more than enjoyed it.
- RyeBrye, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1"Spielberg’s production office on the Paramount lot was robbed of multiple computers and over 2000 production stills from Spielberg’s current project, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom fo the Crystal Skull."
"Kingdom fo the Crystal Skull" in an article about how movie bloggers are so legit and valuable, I can't help but laugh at the guy misspelling the title of the movie. - RealmDown, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Isn't hyperbola where Porthos swings that bola weapon REALLY fast before taking down the red shirt guard?
- VitriolAndAngst, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Perhaps the TMZ will have the TMZ Academy, so that it can award the best "Movie Buffs" and "Investigaters." After that, the TMZA will come up with commendations for the best awards shows.
Next acceptance speech; "I'd like to thank my mom... and the internet, oh and thank GOD for 1/2 HP sump pumps in the basement -- saved my ass on a few occasions, let me tell you." - chyya, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1tom lose? never heard.
- faz9, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Nope, it's what Ben Affleck's character says about movie poop shoot (and the internet as a whole)
- faz9, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yeah, seriously zango, why does it matter if you got first post. Especially one in which you just write "FIRST POST!".
I've never understood this mentality. Do you seriously get an e-boner? What's the importance of being the first one to post? Do you think people will think you're smart/clever/funny? - heyitsgarrett, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Because obviously if Film School Rejects had somehow gotten an email with the leak, they wouldn't have posted it.
It wasn't the blogging community that saved Spielberg's ass. It was the FBI. - Defuser, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0There must be some kind of law somewhere that requires every douchebag in the country to use that idiotic "living in the parent's basement" line whenever they're trying to look cool when discussing the Internet.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0AI was by far the most pathetic.
- dennisbest, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I have no doubt that the movie blogger in question regularly wears a fedora.
- VitriolAndAngst, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I don't know what the REAL damage to Spielberg would have been. If someone wants to read the script and ruin the movie -- go ahead. I thought this movie was in the can -- but I admit I'm not following it.
I'd think the only thing of real harm would be the proprietary information about contractors and payments. Names and amounts are a big deal, I'm sure in Hollywood. Some folks might have charged too much or too little and others in the business could see how they could shave a few bucks -- I'm guessing THAT sort of thing would really hurt Spielberg's business. - JLSosa, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I resent that. Most of us can afford to live in our OWN basement, thank you very much.
- VitriolAndAngst, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Hey, is this the group of kids that Jay and Silent Bob punched out in their movie?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2Irrelevant, ***** the MPAA
- spartacus51, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0again
- spartacus51, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0goddamn triple post.
- spartacus51, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0Who's the ***** up that came up with hyperbole and hyperbola? I can't tell when people are exaggerating and when they're just talking about non intersecting arcs....
- Godlike, on 10/10/2007, -9/+3Nobody is that powerful. Not even Tom Lose.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -13/+0tmz gets more hits than digg.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -19/+1aww shyt i almost had it...please bury
