- chocobomog, on 10/12/2007, -5/+99So the hero who represents America changed from a strong, moral, boy-scout who fought using defense (a shield) to a savage, crazed, gun-toting vigilante?
I keep having a feeling that they are trying force some sort of message in our faces. - diggfinity, on 10/12/2007, -11/+66Go outside.
- Verchiel77, on 10/12/2007, -1/+39Only went this way because Wolverine's Canadian...
- guitarh3ro, on 10/12/2007, -5/+33Oh god...they just ruined it.
- mastercheif, on 10/12/2007, -2/+29I think the Hero who should represent America is Nascar Driving Jesus.
- Ace113, on 10/12/2007, -1/+28Colbert is going to carry on Captain America's legacy, he has the shield
- masterc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27It's funny that you mentioned Canadian...
http://www.myextralife.com/strips/03-12-2007.jpg - MackPrime, on 10/12/2007, -9/+34Perhaps this should be the plan for "Captain (southern states of) America"
- Obligation, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23Look at that guy. He must've flipped a lot of tires.
- devindotcom, on 10/12/2007, -4/+23No - I've said it before and I'll say it again... CAPTAIN AMERICA IS NOT DEAD. When he really dies, in honor of 50 years of being a Marvel icon, he'll get a proper send-off, not a half-assed assassination right after they re-introduce the Red Skull and Arnim Zola. Most likely the Cap that got shot was a Life Model Decoy - after all, Tony Stark is head of SHIELD now and if it wasn't him, Nick Fury has the connections he'd need to get a LMD on the quick.
- nadcraker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15You couldn't be more wrong. I think you missed the part where Marvel said stuff like "This will shake the Marvel Universe to it's core" and etc, etc.. Civil War was not an unrelated story, the arc went through every major and semi-major book Marvel puts out. The effects of Civil War are now very much a part of Marvel continuity.
That said, I'm sure Cap ain't dead either. If he is, then Axl Rose was right. - cptn_cardboard, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17AMERICA: ***** YEAH!!!
- devindotcom, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16don't worry, my guess is Punisher will take up the mantle for a bit (it happened before with John Walker, Cap has had to abdicate his name and position several times) but Steve Rogers will come back from his faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaake death to take it again and, if there is a god, take down this ghetto Stark-led wussy SHIELD world hegemony.
- smartsingh24, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11I defy CNN to follow up their Death of Captain America story (which spoiled the hell out of me) with this story. They should feel like idiots reporting that as news, and bad for spoiling me.
- inspecality, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Who else thought it would be Jack Bauer? Come on, fess up....
- Rikushix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Uh-oh...the Captain has a license to carry.
- VeganG, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Now they should REALLY rename him "Captain America: ***** Yeah"
- etruscan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I think Bucky just crapped himself.
- ALoserIsYou, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!
- bravo90078, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Hehehe.. Jack Bauer can't be the new Cap for the same reason that Wolverine can't. He's Canadian.
- HanSolo69, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4US Agent is part of the new Omega Flight now. And Winter Soldier would make a ***** Captain America. But i also hope they don't make it Punisher. But it really doesn't matter, because it's Marvel and everything will be returned to normal by some fantastic miracle.

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Why couldn't they have recalled John Walker. He's bigger and stronger than the Punisher.
Plus he also used to be the Super-Patriot, Capitan America U.S Agent.
And apparently he is THE NEW CAP.America leading The NEW INVADERS this all occurred during and after Civil War. He was recently sent to Canada to call upon Omega Flight and Alpha Flight.

http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=104938&page=4 - Hellmark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4In the official origin storyline (how he got his powers, not how he got his adamantium covering his claws), has him as being Canadian. Check out the Origins miniseries they did for him.
- ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4All Hail Captain Data Base Error!
- bobcrotch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3http://www.qwantz.com/index.pl?comic=953
Yesterday's qwantz I think would be appropriate to link at this time. - Asianwaste, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Technically he's from way up on the northern tip of America. Then spent a good chunk of his life in Alaska, which I guess wasn't part of America back then, and then went international after that. Then after he joined weapon X, was he Canadian. He lost his memory there and started anew in Canada, hence why he considers himself a Canadian.
- jtronftw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The Punisher won't be the new Captain America because he respects Cap way too much to tarnish his name. If anything, he's wearing the outfit as a tribute to Cap.
If there is a new Cap it should be Winter Soldier, US Agent, or one of the Bradleys (Isaiah, Joshia, or Elijah aka, Patriot). - bravo90078, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Looks like they've already revealed who the new Cap is:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11sdMfLakpg - jtronftw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I wasn't a fan of Cap until Civil War...I'm sure he'll be back in time for World War Hulk.
- NiGHTSChao, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5talk about ***** *****, I hope thats fake
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2scratch that Guardian is not James Hudson !! It's some guy named Micheal Pointer !!!!!!!! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
- KyleRayner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I, for one, like where this is going. Everybody knows its just temporary anyway, I think its a good shakeup for the Cap mythos.
Also, if you dont read (aka buy) the comic, or any comics at all for that matter, then you have no right to complain. - Karyyk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hmmm... Is it just me or is this starting to look a lot like what happened in Comic Book: The Movie?
- kevinfortune, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Should be interesting, I still say a Comics section on Digg would be a good feature.. I mean.. is this really related to Movies?
- Hootyea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Howlett's claws aren't mutagenic, they're just there (it's one of his mysteries).
- nadcraker, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Governments don't work? Care to explain a little? I may not agree with it at times, and it's cool to trash the government, but I wouldn't argue it's "not working." I'm not sure what that even means.
- devindotcom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Hey, I'm no super-nerd, but I did read Captain America when I was a kid, and picked it back up recently. I'm just saying, this is what they'd do.
- Ryuukuro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Very good point. I want to complain but I can't because I never read Captain America and didn't even bother with Civil War.
I read She-Hulk, New Excalibur (for now), and Fables. When someone ***** up those books I'll have a fit. - Asianwaste, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I hope Garth Ennis will still write for Frank Castle.
On a side note props for putting a spoiler warning this time. Someone's listening. - Tsujigiri, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1To say that someone believes in an ideology because they are writing a fictitious story about it is a bit of a leap. I wouldn't say that Marvel comics is pushing an agenda as much as I would say that they are pushing a storyline that they believe will sell comics. Not all things in this world are politically motivated.
- Hellmark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Steve Rogers, AKA Captain America, surrendered in the Marvel superhero civil war, and as he was being escorted out of a courthouse, he was shot in the head by a sniper. Then, a woman ran up to him, and shot him several times with a shot gun at close range. I don't think this is a team up of Punisher and Cap, but rather Punisher taking over for Cap. Punisher has different methods, but they are for the same basic goal, and Castle had great respect for Cap.
- dengarmatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Honestly what better way to represent America then with a gun welding maniac...it works in the current time.
- deceth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Im pretty sure Stephen Colbert is involved with Captain America’s death and that you will see him enter as a villain soon or as the new Captain America, who knows!
http://flogger.looble.com/2007/03/colbert-suspected-in-murder-of-captain.html - metalgod79, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I dugg this, but damn when did the punisher become so damn jacked? Looks like Dolph Lundgren has some pumping up to do.
- zerock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1if he is going to be new the new Cap, make him looks more cap like...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1dugg for the response in the comments. america's greatness is in america's perception of itself as potentially great but also as potentially corrupt. it's the ongoing debate, driven by those two potentials, that keeps america on the right path... or puts it back on that path when its leaders drive it off the road.
