Plus, the piemaker is badass. - inactive, on 12/13/2008, -1/+3First movie that came to my head when I saw the title. Quite surprised it's not on the list.
- inactive, on 12/13/2008, -0/+2Well, it's a good thing it's illegal to... walk into busy subway tunnels...
- detales, on 12/13/2008, -0/+1No Slumdog Millionaire = No Digg! I've never seen a movie that made a city seem so vibrant and appealing, even in the wake of the horrible attacks in Mumbai.
- inactive, on 12/13/2008, -0/+1You don't HAVE to love Paris.
- version22l, on 12/13/2008, -1/+2Bucket List?! They freakin' went to Africa and the Serengeti, Hong Kong, saw the pyramids, went up mount Everest, visit Stonehenge, the Louve, rome.

That man makes me so jealous with rage that I always break my laptop while screaming, "WHY NOT ME?!?!" when I see that video. - inactive, on 12/13/2008, -0/+1Because all the travel was to made up places like... improbably placed mine and elaborate mine cart railroad that lead to the also made up dinosaur laden hollow crust of the earth.
- NorrisOBE, on 12/13/2008, -0/+1It's all Gone Pete Tong.
A movie that makes many people to visit Ibiza, including me. - mr5150, on 12/13/2008, -0/+1Who didn't want to race around France in a BMW 535 after seeing Ronin.
Dugg! for i wish i could. - inactive, on 12/13/2008, -1/+2Good, 1 less douchy tourist in Mumbai.
Mumbai is a very modern city, if you think Mumbai is filthy and sick, then I pray you never go to NYC, believe it or not, but Mumbai is a cleaner city. - ChromaVita, on 12/13/2008, -0/+1We can only hope he meant that he read the book and that made him really want to travel.
- ChromaVita, on 12/13/2008, -0/+1and then die.
- inactive, on 12/13/2008, -0/+1Well, he was an angsty stupid kid, and that's what got him killed.
I'd recommend an experience like that, but not without being properly prepared. There's a reason not many people live like that anymore... because they'll cease to live. - austin006, on 12/13/2008, -0/+0I didn't even actually know it had been made into a movie, it was very much a joke
- vastness, on 12/13/2008, -0/+0I've been lucky enough to have travelled a lot and even lived in a few places around the world. Travel sucks and it narrows your mind. Wait, no, that's not what I meant to say! If you're stuck in a rut and living an uninspired life, go somewhere that is NOT a tourist trap. I really enjoy the quieter parts of Europe, Central America, Mexico, but also... there are few places as cool as the National Parks in the USA.
If anyone has any suggestions for cool destinations please let me know my mind is open.
I've been to Bruges (medieval architecture, world class ale for Bud prices). One thing most people don't know about the Belgians is they are some serious culinary artists. I spent a week in Paris and another in Bruges and the French food didn't come close to the Belgian. In the main square there was a hard candy maker working out in the open air right near the church. I went their as a Belgian ale pilgrimage.
Another pilgrimage I made was to Porto in Portugal. Same thing: really good, simple food (they are not the culinary artists that the Belgians are however), old beautiful architecture, neat mosaics on the sidewalks of the main square. It is an old style portside European town almost completely unfrequented by tourists. Lisbon was nice, but I went during tourist season (street hustlers, scams, just bad). The Port vineyard houses in Porto were sooo good. The other places I would mention you might already know about.
I went to Montego Bay, Jamaica (where they f-ing hate you if you're white) in '87 to attend Sunsplash back when reggae still had a little life in it. The bands start to play at 10pm and don't stop till sunrise. That was fun and the beaches and the hills in the jungle were cool, but I'll never go again.
I guess I'll end on that cheerful note. - eTronicGaming, on 12/13/2008, -2/+2Australia was definitely one of the most travel-inspiring movies and am glad to see it on this list after seeing the movie.

- doublefelix, on 12/13/2008, -1/+1When you feel that way about something it is only polite to give them a digg.
- clawatticas, on 12/13/2008, -3/+2Not from 2008, but Ferris Bueller makes me want to go to Chicago

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFb7clndrRs - dmoney51, on 12/13/2008, -1/+0Not 2008, but can the remake of The Day The Earth Stood still count for making me want to travel to where ever Keanu Reaves is and pummel him?
- Gemfinder, on 12/13/2008, -3/+1After seeing "Cloverfield" I want to go to all the sites. Especially Grayshot Bridge.
But not the subway tunnels. No. - austin006, on 12/13/2008, -4/+0Where's Journey to the Center of the Earth.. if that's not travel-inspiring I don't know what is
