- deathcannon, on 07/25/2008, -2/+61I wish people stopped glorifying Heath Ledger's death like he is some sort of legend, as if he actually turned into the Joker and died. He died of an accidental overdose, not from acting. He did a great ***** job, and it is tragic he died, I wish everyone would just accept the facts.
- amanilaenvelope, on 07/24/2008, -5/+48Better a small easter egg than some other person trying to play The Joker.
- hipnerd, on 07/25/2008, -1/+42Before the buzz on The Dark Knight heated up, everyone said that there was no way Ledger could surpass the brilliance of Jack Nicholson. No one owns a character. Seeing different interpretations of the same character is actually one of the reasons comics are so fun. A writer like Grant Morrison's Joker is different than Alan Moore's or Dennis O'Neil's. Artists give the characters different visual slants as well, and the infinite combinations of the two allow 80-year-old characters to feel new and relevant.
- inactive, on 07/25/2008, -6/+36why so serious?
- Thenolos, on 07/25/2008, -7/+35Ledger is not the end all of the Joker. He died. It's sad. Get over it.
- koanage, on 07/25/2008, -2/+29in other news, heath bar sales have gone through the roof.
- akav0id, on 07/25/2008, -1/+15I felt that Two Face became more psycotic on screen towards the end, and had the potential to upstage Ledgers Joker if the movie had been half an hour longer. Either way, Aaron Eckhart was much better than Tommy Lee Jones
- appleseed1234, on 07/25/2008, -1/+13Not if you walk into the movie pretending you didn't read the 8 million tabloid stories covering his death.
- DarkDx, on 07/25/2008, -2/+14It's not about his death, it's about his ***** AMAZING perfomance as the joker.
- mightymax38, on 07/24/2008, -3/+14Just an easter egg? *sigh*
- punkcat, on 07/25/2008, -2/+11off topic, but couldn't batman have found a better place to stand to look out the window?

i mean the beam is right in front of him, he must be going crossed eyed. - mlwarrior, on 07/25/2008, -0/+9Heath's performance was captivating. However, what the hell is wrong with somebody else playing the Joker? If they do a good job, and the movie is good, would people rate it low just because the actor was switched? Come on, we're all adults, we know what happened. Accept it, move on. We already lost Heath, why do we have to also loose the best villain even seen in a movie as well?
- jcaino, on 07/25/2008, -0/+8Well, since the joker has been played by 3 different people in 3 different appearance on film, i would say that a new actor would not be out of line.
- inactive, on 07/25/2008, -0/+8His joker was very very good. I think half of the hype is his death though.
- dnields, on 07/25/2008, -2/+9That's because they are now officially called "Ledger Bars"
- warsongs7, on 07/25/2008, -2/+9After the first time I watched the movie I felt the same way you do. However, after the second time, when I actually had more time to think about the characters of the movie rather than all the loud noises and action I started to see why Ledger is so highly praised for his performance.
Looking at the motives, ideals and values of the Joker, such as anarchy and destruction, it eventually becomes clear that Ledger's embodiment of the Joker is not only thoughtful and meticulous but fits in perfectly. Nicholson Joker was a playful one. Ledger's Joker is also playful but is also accompanied by his own brand of dark humor and the aforementioned ideals of the Joker. - williamlee, on 07/25/2008, -1/+8Super Max doesn't sound like a terrible idea.
- thebrokenlight, on 07/25/2008, -0/+6Oh dear, look at the reflection of the buildings on the floor.
*facepalm* - amanilaenvelope, on 07/25/2008, -1/+7Then again......yeah your right. But the people would so accustom to Ledger's joker that they may not very well accept this new joker in this movie. But one can never be too sure.
@damian7: For that version of The Joker and during that time, yeah i would say so. - MrFisty, on 07/25/2008, -1/+6I'm sorry dude, but as much as I always liked Jack's Joker, it was just that, Jack being Jack. Ledger has taken the role and turned it into something that is awkward, funny and downright psychotic, all in one breath. When he likens himself to a dog chasing a car or the differing stories behind his scars, he adds layers of depth that Jack just didn't have.
- btraxx, on 07/25/2008, -3/+8When are we going to start supporting Heath Ledger for President on Digg?
- MrZaiko, on 07/25/2008, -0/+5Call me crazy, but I always thought Johnny Depp Could have also been a good Joker...
- snareguy17, on 07/25/2008, -3/+7Joker buys 3G iPhone.
- inactive, on 07/25/2008, -4/+8I was sick of the Heath Ledger/Batman hype on digg and all over the internet, but I watched it tonight and just WOW. Joker was nuts.
- amanilaenvelope, on 07/25/2008, -3/+7OMG Everybody is on overkill with that quote!
*And don't tell me why im so serious! - reddevil3, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4Well thanks David Goyer, now it's not an "Easter Egg" or a surprise anymore.

I think it's a code. - HouseofEl, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3This is why DC is in a mess. Instead of taking Green Arrow and oh I don't know, making a movie about him, you spin it into some prison break type story. I don't want to see Supermax. I want to see Green Arrow. I want to see Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, The Flash and a decent Superman flick. Stop trying to make the characters "cool". Learn from the Batman franchise. Don't just cash in on the success.
- MrTito, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3We'll get to it shortly, just as soon as we get Bush impeached, the truth about 9/11 revealed, and both Ron Paul and Barack Obama elected Co-Presidents. Oh, and destroy Scientology, the RIAA, and the MPAA. Our list keeps us a little busy, but we'll get there. Hang on, I gotta go check xkcd and read this list from Cracked.
- twiztidsinz, on 07/25/2008, -1/+4davilliu417 ruv u rong time
- billymonster, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3i still wish we could have seen billy dee william's harvey dent become two face...
- SneakyNinja, on 07/25/2008, -1/+4I almost think they should do what they did with Dumbledore in the Harry Potter series. Yes, Heath had an epic performance and no actor will be able to do it like he did. However, this story is just too good to not continue. Find someone who is man enough to step up and pass the torch. Heath will be dearly missed, but the show must go on!
- appleseed1234, on 07/25/2008, -2/+4Dugg to counteract the Ledgermania Bury Brigade.
- dnields, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2It's even more effective when you use the "Reply" feature.
That way you don't have to use the "@ so-and-so" bit because it's logically attached to the post you are offering a reply or rebuttal to.
I do agree that the thought of him dying just to make the movie sales jump is preposterous.
Kudos are in order for admitting he was wrong about the Oscar bit, though.
Perhaps I was a bit too early on the comment myself, but when someone says that he had a successful career, one has to wonder. He hadn't really done any roles worthy of praise until he did Brokeback Mountain, which is where the bulk of his award nominations/wins are from.
But to then say that he actually won the 'coup de gras' of all motion picture acting awards... an Oscar... well, it's understandable why one would label someone like that as a blind fanboy.
You don't see much logical, rational and honest behavior from Diggers... especially on a TDK story. - evan3168, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2i actually didnt digg you down, i just replied with what i thought was witty and sarcastic humor. with that being said, i thought you actually had an insightful comment, it was merely executed poorly on your keyboard
- evan3168, on 07/25/2008, -7/+9what a misleading headline.. hes hardly heading back if its just his name on a cell.. call me when some actor has the balls to pick up the character of the joker that heath left behind
- deadlift, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2We had a discussion about the same thing. Things like that lie in conspiracy and will probably never be proved. Then again it depends WHO did the murdering. Studios? Then what about the loss to the other movie Ledger was filming? Surely this would create a studio vs studio conflict.
- andyeinstein, on 07/25/2008, -1/+3I really don't know about this 'best villain ever' talk. Don't get me wrong, I thought Ledger was brilliant as the joker, and he belongs in the same class as Anthony Hopkin's Hanibal Lecter and Jack Nicholson's Jack Torrance, and Anthony Perkin's Norman Bates. But above them? Probably not.
- mchisari, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2
David Goyers couldn't write dialogue to save his life. He's a great "story idea" guy. But a scriptwriter? Blade II, that's all I gotta say. - sassyjack, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2I wish I could tell you that The Joker fought the good fight, and the Sisters let him be. I wish I could tell you that—but prison is no fairy-tale world.
- username7410, on 07/25/2008, -3/+5Why so serious?
- SneakyNinja, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2No but his grumble Batman talk at the end there got a bit too cheesy macho tough guy for me.

- landosystem, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2"taking a lot of meanings about it lately" I believe they meant taking a lot of MEETNGS about it lately. Silly internet journalism, proofreading is for print!
- dnields, on 07/25/2008, -2/+3"yeah, i'm sure with a successful career in acting (he won an oscar and did quite a few good films) "
He won an Oscar????.... you're really sitting there thinking he actually won an Oscar?
He was nominated for one, but didn't win.... not the same thing.
*****'s sake, you fanboys are really getting out of touch with reality on this. It's really out of control. - daschupa, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1What actor would want to do the roll? I mean, no matter how good the new guy is all you would hear is "He's not as good as Ledger". If someone was brave enough, I'd hope that they would bring their own acting style to the role and not try to imitate Ledger's.
- jellydoughnut21, on 07/25/2008, -1/+2you can't say bad things about Batman on digg!! DUGG DOWN DUGG DOWN!
- th2edrrfs, on 07/25/2008, -2/+3Thanks for the awesome dialog! You're a great debater.

- inactive, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1No way, The Joker's performance was impossible to surpass, he was 'words cannot describe his performance', it was more than phenomenal/incredible or any of the superlatives, it was something else...
