- kinghami3, on 11/20/2008, -1/+335It's the Dark KNIGHT, for christ's sake. Get an editor.
- Hobbes24, on 11/20/2008, -7/+178wait wait wait,
that would mean it profited greatly despite being pirated
THE RIAA HAS BEEN LYING TO ME!?!?!?!?!?!? - MarkusX, on 11/20/2008, -2/+114I can't believe I didn't notice this, when I submitted it. That's so embarrassing!
Well, it's in the middle of the knight here in Chicago, and I am a bit tired, hehe. - MarkusX, on 11/20/2008, -1/+57Isn't it interesting, that titles/awards like "Most Pirated Movie of 2008" almost sound like a positive achievement, rather than a neutral statement about a high level of crime?
The MPAA should be afraid of this development. - jfdolier, on 11/20/2008, -2/+57How will the Producers feed their families?
Oh, wait, it was the second highest grossing film of all time? And we care about piracy, why? - MarkusX, on 11/20/2008, -3/+45They corrected "Night" to "Knight" it in the article. Unfortunately I can't correct it on Digg.
That would be a feature for Digg to think about. Allowing to edit submissions after posting them. - inactive, on 11/21/2008, -2/+41I pirated this movie, but I also saw it in the theater twice.
- chickenloco, on 11/21/2008, -1/+30You mean the MPAA.
RIAA is Recording Industry.
MPAA is Motion Picture industry. - popltree2, on 11/21/2008, -5/+30In other news, the sky is up, dogs bark, and Paris Hilton is a sleazy whore.
- kvanderslice, on 11/20/2008, -3/+23Night?
- Dinsdale77, on 11/20/2008, -2/+21First it ruined Halloween, so this is no surprise really.
- TypeEE, on 11/21/2008, -0/+18May be you were holding a pirated copy which is labelled "Dark Night" to differ itself from Dark Knight.
- jtbell04, on 11/21/2008, -1/+18I would submit some sort of groundbreaking story about Cheney being executed for war crimes, then when it's in the top ten, change the url to 2girls1cup.
- damack, on 11/20/2008, -5/+22Oh god this one is going to be hard to spin for the RIAA
"The Dark knight was only the SECOND highest grossing movie of all time we easily could have made it number 1 had it not been for piracy"
By the way shame on your pirates for downloading this excellent movie, you should pay for The Dark Knight. While I can't bl;ame pirates for refusing to pay crappy product at an unreasonable price we should put our purchasing money towards good products to send the Hollywood studios a message that we are willing to buy a quality product. Maybe then they will stop shipping all that crap, hey theres hope right? - dshPls, on 11/21/2008, -0/+16No one pirates bad movies, so this is positive?
- inactive, on 11/21/2008, -0/+14It would just get incredibly abused.
- inactive, on 11/21/2008, -4/+17Pirating movies is unethical.
- DevSingh1359, on 11/21/2008, -1/+14I find that comment incredibly funny coming from a guy with your username...
- gremlinchief, on 11/21/2008, -5/+17@reed311
Stop comparing stealing to piracy. They are, and I can't stress this enough, NOT the same thing. - Shaggy3, on 11/21/2008, -0/+12*****, they hijacked the ship with all the DVDs on it now?
- UberNick, on 11/21/2008, -0/+10Well, obviously that's why it did so poorly at the box office
- farfegnugen, on 11/21/2008, -0/+10I can honestly say this is the only movie I've ever gone to see more than once in theaters. I paid to see it three times, which says a lot because usually I watch movies at aXXo Multiplex.
- JasonCox, on 11/21/2008, -0/+9Wrong __AA agency, but your train of thoughts is still spot on.
:-) - benman587, on 11/21/2008, -0/+9What a suprise, the most watched movie of 2008 is also the most pirated movie of 2008.
- DrivingVertigo, on 11/21/2008, -1/+8I saw it in theaters, and THEN pirated it cause I wanted to see it again but I didn't want to look like a loser going to the theater alone. I am sure I caused some record executive to miss a payment on his summer home.
- inactive, on 11/20/2008, -3/+10I for one pirated it; but it was so good that I also went to see it in IMAX.
- christopheles, on 11/20/2008, -0/+7There are these things called jobs where one does services for an employer in exchange for currency. Look into that.
- swik, on 11/21/2008, -0/+6I watched this movie online
I also paid to see it three times in theaters, bringing with me people who probably would not see it normally.
I'm also going to buy it on DVD the day it is released.
...I'm sorry? - Mexrocker, on 11/21/2008, -4/+10Is it bad that I am currently downloading a bluray copy? =/
what? I'm in college and tuition was raised for next semester and I can't find a job... - juanej, on 11/21/2008, -3/+9I go to the theater alone A LOT. Am I a loser?
- 12916studios, on 11/21/2008, -0/+6Wrong. The Dark Knight hasn't passed the 1 billion mark yet (it was at a little over 995 million as of last night). It will hit 1 billion in about a couple of weeks, at the rate it is currently going.
Sorry to nitpick about this, but a film hitting 1 billion is really huge, and it is best to be accurate about something that huge. Especially when that something will hopefully overtake Titanic as the highest grossing film ever by the end of February. - layzice, on 11/21/2008, -2/+8Exactly. You took something tangible. They lost -actual- money. Not made up money that they think they could have gotten if everyone who watched a movie was willing to pay for it.
That is why it is called copyright infringement and not just theft in the law, tool. - RoflCoptah, on 11/21/2008, -4/+10grrrr 'Knight'
must resist urge to avenge... - Bauer22, on 11/21/2008, -1/+7Well I went out as the Nurse Joker so that's totally original!

Titanic did 1.8 billion - asskey, on 11/21/2008, -0/+5Entertainment industry profits during depression. Learn some history.
- kennyem, on 11/21/2008, -2/+7@ juanej
yes - Skooma714, on 11/21/2008, -0/+5You can still hate the RIAA and not pirate.
Hell, if you buy CDs or use iTunes you have every right to hate them. - inactive, on 11/21/2008, -0/+5That's not true :D
- sasjamal, on 11/21/2008, -0/+4I do not think I have EVER made a comment here before? Maybe I have, i just don't rememebr.
- I saw this movie, 6 times at the theaters (I am in the middle east, so I could not see it in its IMAX Glory).
- My wife and i Saw it together 3 or 4 times.
- My wife, and I, and my three step kids saw this movie 3 times
- I called all my friends in america and begged them to watch it.
- I took out 3 of my friends to see the movie (after i saw it once alone by myself first).
- I read the script when it was still illegal to download it.
- I checked almost every week until I found a DVD copy, to download and watch. - Its still downloading now.
When it comes out in the states, I will have the blu-ray sent to my parents home, even though they can not watch blu-ray movies (nor can I here in jordan). (just in case its hard to get later on)
When I get back to the states, im buying a blu-ray player so I can watch this movie.
If I had enough money, id fly down in january with my entire family just to watch it in imax when they re-relase it for the oscars.
All together, with pizzas and stuff dedicated to this movie, cause everytime u watch it u got to celebrate the greatness that is the joker,
For the last week I downloaded with my very little and expensively slow bandwith a DVD rip of the movie.
Before I watch it, I wil burn it on DVD, and buy a tv and a DVD Player to watch it - I can't watch it on a computer screen for a movie this great.
I just love this movie, and have been waitinf for a good copy to get.
I cant wait till its released, and ill buy it then too - I just HAVE to see it again. in as glorous of a way that I can.
When I die, I want to become the joker (in shaa Allaah, but in paradise).
Sas - tacojohn48, on 11/21/2008, -0/+4It isn't out on DVD yet.
- bwseaver, on 11/21/2008, -2/+6moderate fail.
- Skooma714, on 11/21/2008, -0/+41.1 billion?
I bet you most of the people who pirated it saw it at least once legit. - inactive, on 11/21/2008, -2/+6It still made a billion dollars!
The question is how much more would it have made, if Piracy didn't exist? - CraigB12, on 11/21/2008, -1/+5I've got my copy!
- wukillabee, on 11/21/2008, -0/+3lol those guys suck
- inos92, on 11/21/2008, -0/+4That's the first thing I noticed about this article when I read the title.
I came straight to the comments to see if anyone else had picked it up as well. - Aleman360, on 11/21/2008, -1/+5You're not automatically entitled to things that you can't afford.
