- japanesepagoda, on 08/08/2008, -0/+37I bet you're the same type of kid that thinks 'Disaster Movie' is going to be hilarious.
- andreaw818, on 08/08/2008, -11/+41Isn't there a new 'top grossing movie of all time' every couple years when the theaters raise the ticket prices? I would be more interested to see how many tickets sold instead of how much $ made
but besides the point the movie was great! - PhillAholic, on 08/08/2008, -5/+28Shut the ***** up
- x4ncars4me, on 08/08/2008, -1/+21get your stupid out of my digg.
- Lucifugerising, on 08/08/2008, -4/+21I really hate that sites layout. Reminds me of Abba Zabba.
- btschul, on 08/08/2008, -0/+15What was wrong with the movie? What is wrong with Xbox, for that matter?
- WannaBeSquare, on 08/08/2008, -0/+15I'm positive that you are that guy that just plays WoW and Dungeons and Dragons and anything on the PC thats an RPG and watches Star Wars porn all day you *****.
- gahal, on 08/08/2008, -0/+15It entertained.
- jontilton, on 08/08/2008, -2/+15look, this movie's good.... actually it's REALLY good. but do we really need to post a brand new story every time it breaks some random record. We all know it's awesome, and we all know that it's gonna break a ton of records. I'm tempted to bury this as a duplicate story because, at the end of the day, it is.
- dericko, on 08/08/2008, -0/+12Do NOT click the tinyurl link!!
- kleash, on 08/08/2008, -0/+10***** You. Reported..
- soupdawg30, on 08/08/2008, -0/+10As a PS3 owner I actually agree with you. What is so wrong with Xbox for this guy to hate it so much?
- freakk123, on 08/08/2008, -0/+9You, sir, are a moron.
I'd be willing to bet a significant, significant amount of money that there are people vastly smarter than you who enjoy the Dark Knight. The themes present don't make Bush look like he's a superhero, you're an idiot for deriving that.
Further, your username and your assertion that Xbox owners are killing gaming simply make you seem like more of a dumbass. - 15thPD, on 08/08/2008, -0/+8If a repeating "hello" alert is the worst you saw then I envy you.
- japanesepagoda, on 08/08/2008, -0/+8***** you.
- Nin10dude, on 08/08/2008, -0/+8I'm pretty sure he's just trolling.
- mikephimikephi, on 08/08/2008, -0/+7I ***** hate people who resize my browser.
- guyperson, on 08/08/2008, -0/+7Don't tell me what to do.
- CybrStuff, on 08/08/2008, -0/+7I'm sorry. The meme you have dialed has been disconnected.
- Wootinator, on 08/08/2008, -0/+6Just because someone owns an Xbox doesn't mean they're killing gaming. I'm glad you're using your voice, but when you're pointing your finger at us you have 3 pointing back (think about that one, neanderthal).
And another thing, I'm pretty sure nothing will make Bush look like a super hero. - seantubridy, on 08/08/2008, -8/+14Public service announcement:
Do not click the link by Scipyo. It will open a fixed window of a bunch of old men jerking each other off in the shower and you will have to force quit your browser.
There. Is that plain enough for you? - IG64, on 08/08/2008, -0/+6I bet you're great at parties.
- jgzman, on 08/08/2008, -0/+6Out of curiosity, where can I get a vacuum spoon?
- artfiend77, on 08/08/2008, -0/+5You ***** twit.
- wukillabee, on 08/08/2008, -3/+8because of inflation douchebag
- Acglaphotis, on 08/08/2008, -0/+4You don't really understand economics, do you?
- tidu, on 08/08/2008, -0/+4Reminds me of seizure.
I like that huge left sidebar they got goin' on. With TWO links. - RyeBrye, on 08/08/2008, -0/+4It's a business, not a presidential election. $ talks. Fanboys and girls with crushes buy tickets.
- btschul, on 08/08/2008, -0/+4Entertainment?
- inactive, on 08/08/2008, -1/+5Uh, No! before Titanic it was Star Wars. and that's without inflation.
- level10, on 08/08/2008, -2/+6Joker did switch the addresses. Joker said Rachel was at A and Harvey was at B. Batman says he's going to save Rachel, who everyone thinks is at A. Gordon goes to B, where they think Dent is. If Batman had gone to Dent on purpose, Gordon would have been there as well. By switching the addresses, Joker ensures that Batman won't be able to save who he really wants to.
- DOPPELGANGING, on 08/08/2008, -0/+4I'm thinking after TDK we'll get more serious movies in general (especially from movies/franchises that have been dumbed down over the years). I'm hoping that it says to Hollywood that a summer tentpole doesn't have to be a popcorn flick - it can be dark, disturbing, and downright awesome.
- xGeneric, on 08/08/2008, -0/+4Hmm, as well as the numbers being somewhat skewed based on changing ticket prices and inflation, ticket sales are also skewed by growth in world population. I'm sure more people are going to the theaters now than say back in the 1970s.
Another minor(or maybe not) thing to consider is what's going on right now. I've read a few articles now about the rise of people going to the movies during hard economic times. So many variables, lol.
I remember someone linking a site that ranked movies by amount made, and also accounted for inflation, Dark Knight had a respectable place, but certainly wasn't #1. I don't remember Titanic being #1 either. I want to say Gone with the Wind, but hey, I'm drunk at the moment, so who knows.
And I agree.. that movie was great! - williamchang823, on 08/08/2008, -0/+4holy ***** youre retarded
- omgsoemo, on 08/08/2008, -0/+4Well that was just amazingly intelligent a comment. The comparison to Bush was beautiful, especially the part where Bruce actually destroyed the machine and all that, great post, would read again
- NathanielJ, on 08/08/2008, -1/+4Batman Begins didn't get all this attention because it was the first Batman movie by Nolan. TDK started getting attention because people loved Batman Begins.
What's hard to understand about that? - SirBruce, on 08/08/2008, -2/+5As much as I loved The Dark Knight, I'd give the edge to Iron Man.
- fokov, on 08/08/2008, -0/+3Correction: unique people that watched the movie. That way we take away all the fanboys and girls with crushes. To me 10 people watching a movie is worth more than 2 girls watching it 5 times.
- mille716, on 08/08/2008, -2/+5Are you kidding me, banido? This movie made $400 million in 18 days, that money in that short time span does kind of mean its an amazing flick. You dont make that kind of money on a movie from just fanboys. I saw it today for the first time and was blown away. I'm not or never have been a comic book reader either. It was just a great ***** film. Like it or not, Ledger's performance was a large part of it. He spent a damn month locked in a hotel room perfecting the part. That's a little more than just "acting crazy".
- Marlon, on 08/08/2008, -5/+8God let it die
- Swarms, on 08/08/2008, -1/+4I read somewhere that TDK would have to do about $900 million to technically beat Titanic in terms of ticket sales.
- btschul, on 08/08/2008, -0/+3How do you justify the fact that you are alive?
- Trax91, on 08/08/2008, -0/+3I hate burying the parent thread and having to reopening it to bury the subsequent post. :(
- altrego99, on 08/08/2008, -1/+3Don't click that link (if you already haven't done so). It is a javascript that will repeatedly show a "Hello" alert. Just digg the comment down and report the guy.
- CaviMike, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2We're all special in our own way.
- solid12345, on 08/08/2008, -1/+3Normal people who drop 30 feet in a parking garage and smash a van to pieces with their knees?
- soupdawg30, on 08/08/2008, -3/+5Guess you weren't really paying attention? The Joker switched the addresses.
- NathanielJ, on 08/08/2008, -2/+4I agree that the hype machine hit TDK ridiculously hard and many people had their minds made up before seeing it, but I don't think it has nearly as much to do with Heath's death as people say it does. Does no one remember the ridiculous hype this movie already had going for it BEFORE Heath's death?
Oh, and he deserves the Oscar plain and simple. It has nothing to do with him dying, it has to do with him creating an icon that people will remember 15 years down the road. Just like Hannibal Lecter, just like Anton Chighurfggfhkh from No Country for Old Men, TDK's Joker will be remembered as one of the greatest villains ever because of the excellent work of the actor behind it. - RobotCitizen, on 08/08/2008, -2/+4Now that the film is a proven mega-hit, it's time for the "I'm cool because I'm not into the hype" crowd to chime in. Predictable.
- vinibinini, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2Your mom said I was cool
