- packerh8r84, on 09/19/2008, -3/+54Starship Troopers is probably the sweetest bad movie ever.
- merbot, on 09/19/2008, -2/+48I demand that they remove The Fifth Element from that list. That movie is a classic.
- oo7evan, on 09/19/2008, -4/+43Dugg for 5th Element. It's also one of the best looking old school DVDs. It's so bad/awesome, you forget that Chris Tucker has never been in a good movie by himself.
- MCA2142, on 09/19/2008, -0/+38Fifth Element was a breath of fresh air, in a time of crap sci-fi flicks.
I personally think it's pretty good. - inactive, on 09/19/2008, -4/+40Event Horizon is bad?
- sillygato, on 09/19/2008, -1/+32Amazing - all on one page!
- honeybrass, on 09/19/2008, -0/+22Fifth Element was awesome, awesome, AWESOME!!! I'm going to go watch it right now.
- Ismith988, on 09/19/2008, -8/+30this list is *****, Chronicles Of Riddick is ***** awesome
- carrtoonist, on 09/19/2008, -1/+225th element is not a good bad movie or even a great bad movie. Its just a damn freaking awesome movie. There is no "so bad its good" its just good.
- eelwrolyat, on 09/19/2008, -2/+19Ha, I forgot about Enemy Mine. What a great movie.
- whataSAMF, on 11/28/2008, -0/+13The Last Starfighter is awesome!
- MikeFallopian, on 09/19/2008, -3/+16Event Horizon is AWESOME.
- Strungout, on 09/19/2008, -4/+17That was my thought too. Event Horizon kicked all kinds of ass
- digidelia, on 09/19/2008, -0/+12thank you
that was one of the most terrifying theater experiences of my life - AndrewDB, on 09/19/2008, -1/+13Signs isn't bad. It's ***** atrocious.
- balloonenstein, on 09/19/2008, -2/+12Sorry, but this list doesn't have The Core. That, IMO, is the best worst Sci-Fi movie ever.
- Depthfunction, on 09/19/2008, -0/+10I'm surprised that Enemy Mine, Starship Troopers, and (slightly less surprising) Chronicles of Riddick were on that list. Enemy Mine wasn't that bad, was it? Really? Starship Troopers is a great movie because of the political satire; in fact, I'd consider it a political movie before I'd consider it a sci-fi movie. And Riddick wasn't THAT bad, although its prequel, Pitch Black, was a lot better.
If you want bad sci-fi, look no further than the early to mid 80s when every studio was putting out crap to try to capitalize on the Star Wars and Star Trek movie series. One movie that should have been on the list was Explorers, about kids who build a spaceship. The first half of the movie wasn't too bad, but once they went into space it turned into the Muppet Show or something. I was, like 10 or something when I saw it in the theater, and even then I was really disappointed. - jamin, on 09/19/2008, -2/+12Plan 9 from Outer Space!
- NathanielJ, on 09/19/2008, -4/+13Sorry, but Deep Impact, Red Planet and Hollow Man aren't so bad they're good. They're just bad.
Also, if The Faculty is allowed on the list, I'd like to nominate Disturbing Behavior. - Richvideo, on 09/19/2008, -1/+9LifeForce
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lifeforce_%28film%29
You got space vampires
The hottest naked alien EVER
Piccard-pre TNG
Tobe Hooper directed it
So bad, but I love it - threepm, on 09/19/2008, -3/+10I disagree with a fair amount on that list... Some of my favorite movies are on there.. and my favorite movie of all time is on that list..
The Fifth Element.
Even Horizon was brilliant.
Alien 3 was underrated and yes Fincher had FOX telling him what to do but it was still a good standalone horror movie.
Digg Down for being inaccurate. - vdgmr1213, on 09/19/2008, -0/+7Apparently they don't watch SciFi Channel on the weekends, especially Saturdays at 9pm. Its always a new horrible movie that you can't help but watch. Its so bad, its good. This list can't even compare to those.
- Asianwaste, on 09/19/2008, -1/+8How to get someone drunk: play a drinking game where you take a shot everytime someone says "Necromonger" during Chronicles of Riddick. Everyone will pass out in 10 minutes.
- lordtyros, on 09/19/2008, -0/+7***** you. Total Recall is actually a good ***** movie. Excellent plot and special effects that look good to this day. ***** you for not respecting Arnold's only truly high quality film.
- tconnect80, on 09/19/2008, -0/+7Seriously, I don't what they're talking about, it changed my life
- BooneFaustus, on 09/19/2008, -0/+6buried as inaccurate. The Fifth Element is ***** awesome and Event Horizon is alright. They forgot Plan 9 from Outer Space the best bad sci-fi movie ever, and the Man With The Screaming Brain directed by and starring Bruce Campbell.
- sauron256, on 09/19/2008, -0/+5Agreed, except for the 'bad' part. Fifth Element was all kinds of awesome.
- inactive, on 09/19/2008, -3/+8There are far worse sci-fi movies than Event Horizon or Starship Troopers. I mean where's Battlefield Earth on that list? And The Chronicles of Riddick is a bad sci-fi movie WTF?!??
- snotrokit, on 09/19/2008, -0/+5Ice Pirates! Space Herpes - FTW!!
- SuburbianMike, on 09/19/2008, -0/+5The Core is so bad.
Sooo bad. - Haoie, on 09/19/2008, -1/+5A lot of b-movies from the 50s and 60s in the sci fi genre are amazingly bad.
Best of the worst is Plan 9, of course. Worst movie ever, according to many. - diskit, on 09/19/2008, -0/+4"The Best Worst"?
I'm confused, are these movies supposed to be good or bad? - UbIwerks, on 09/19/2008, -0/+4Flash Gordon!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uh8KVG8j68I - craeyon, on 09/19/2008, -2/+6Dugg for Neil Patrick Harris
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 09/19/2008, -0/+4It's definitely one of Bruce Willis' best films.
- Tonamel, on 09/19/2008, -0/+4And then they gave Uwe Boll a video camera.
- GlitchEnzo, on 09/19/2008, -1/+5I really liked Deep Impact. I thought it was much more realistic than Armageddon. Armageddon should have been on the list instead.
- BlackJacket, on 09/19/2008, -0/+4Guess I have to sacrifice sounding a little geeky here, but the author missed the point of the water/sun scene in Chronicles of Riddick. Riddick didn't survive because he doused himself in water. He survived because he is a Furion, a race of great strength and endurance, as demonstrated by the Purifier. He walks out into the sun directly and makes it quite a distance, before meeting his fate, in order to show Riddick how powerful his people really were, and why the Lord Marshall feared them.
- mrsammercer, on 09/19/2008, -0/+4Oh. I went looking down the comments and what I wanted to say was the second comment? Woe is my originality.
- EvilGunOwner, on 09/19/2008, -0/+4The list is about "bad" sci-fi movies that are actually quite enjoyable to watch. "Battlefield Earth" is a piece of ***** movie and painful to watch.
- SundayBrunch, on 09/19/2008, -0/+4so did time cop, what is their problem?
- armakaryk, on 09/19/2008, -0/+4this list is missing the magnum opus of ID4.
"Welcome to Earf!" - Scaryclouds, on 09/19/2008, -1/+5The first time I watched Event Horizon i thought it was the most terrifying movie ever made, of course I was probably 11 at the time. I watched it again years later and it was hilarious (i.e. crappy story and special effects).
- ShadowCid, on 09/19/2008, -0/+4Bruce Willis and Gary Oldman actually never go head to head in the movie. I think the only scene where they are even in the same location is on the space ship and even then they never actually see each other. In fact the only thing Gary Oldman's character knew about Bruce Willis' is that he won the tickets and not that he had any involvement with the supreme being or the stones (Also vice versa, Korben Dallas never knows about Zorg or his intentions)
I always thought that was a pretty interesting plot choice. - stklaw, on 09/19/2008, -3/+7Chris Tucker = Win
- ericdano, on 09/19/2008, -0/+3Yes, it is a great movie that still holds up today.
- SiXiam, on 09/19/2008, -0/+3I think Arnold has some of the best movies ever:
Terminator 1 & 2
Conan
Last Action Hero
Predator
Commando
and his all time Christmas classic:
Jingle all the Way!
Just look at this list for Christs ***** ***** sake...
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000216/ - ZutroyZuuts, on 09/19/2008, -0/+3I loved that movie as a kid even despite the contrived Hollywood rescue ending scene. If you stop the movie just as Davidge flies off in the stolen spaceship, it's a much better film in my opinion.
Since then I picked up a copy of the book, 'The Enemy Papers'. It's a prequel and sequel to Enemy Mine + an alien bible and it has some wonderful insights into how religions get started. It's a bit weird, like it's written for aliens, but that makes me like it even more. If you're a fan of the movie (as a whole, or in part!) then I recommend snagging yourself a copy if you can find one. - NorrisOBE, on 09/19/2008, -0/+3Dude, The Faculty has Jordana Brewster & a totally nude Laura Harris!
If only it had Jordana Brewster together with Laura Harris doing it nude......
Damn you Robert Rodriguez! - ZenMojo, on 09/19/2008, -1/+4Event Horizon is what Doom should have been...except with more ***** guns.
