- yoyoyoyo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+232if my calculations are correct, when this story hits 88 diggs....... you're gonna see some serious *****.
classic movie all around. - pepperoni, on 10/12/2007, -7/+228There's that word again "Heavy"? Why are things so heavy in the future? Is there something wrong with the Earth's gravitational pull?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+145Heavy!
- bchoi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+71from Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Stoltz ,
Originally cast as Marty McFly in Back to the Future (1985), he was replaced after filming had started, when Michael J. Fox (the director's first choice for the role) agreed to divide time between the movie and his television sitcom Family Ties. The director, Robert Zemeckis, has said that while Stoltz was giving an admirable performance, it lacked a certain humorous feel that Zemeckis was looking for. Stoltz thus lost the role to Fox. - Mpulse, on 10/12/2007, -2/+48I don't know if I'd ever want to see this if Stoltz was so bad that they had to replace him after filming all that. Marty is and will always be Michael J. Fox. Seeing Stoltz do a goofier (what it looks like in the photos) version would taint what I view as a perfectly executed film.
- r00t3d0ut, on 10/12/2007, -3/+46Did Biff tell Stoltz, "Make like a tree and get outta here."
- m0nk, on 10/12/2007, -3/+46That must be why, at over 100 diggs, I can't reach the site.....
- disillusioned, on 10/12/2007, -4/+44Man, what a blow to the ego.
"Eric, listen, we know we're 80% complete with this, and that it's supposed to be your breakout hit, but our first choice is on board. What? You didn't know you weren't our first choice? Oh this is awkward. No, that's just Michael J. Fox. Yes, from Family Ties. No, Eric, don't do that. No, Eric, Eric, put down the paring knife. I know, Eric. I'm sorry. We're just not that into you, after all." - teamparadox, on 10/12/2007, -2/+39Man imagine being Stoltz and your half way done filming the movie and they basicly say..well you suck and we got the guy we really wanted now piss off. Makes you kinda feel bad for him...Maybe thats why he went on to be in The Fly 2! Of course he was also in Pulp Fiction so that makes up for it.
- munkt0n, on 10/12/2007, -7/+42LIBYANS!
- brownb2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+30Stoltz?
Where we're going we don't need Stoltz.... - sacherjj, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22>I love this series... I wasnt even born when Pt 1 came out but I rented this movie at least 20 times when I was 11 years old.
Wow. That makes me feel old. - supergwiz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20Yeh, acting out the same scene they did in the past.. it must of been like traveling back in time... or maybe that was the point
- verifex, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20I wonder if Back to the Future would have hit the same popularity it has, had we only gotten the Stoltz version.
- allarise, on 10/12/2007, -9/+25^^ that's ***** up.
- karmakanic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17Actually, that IS how it's pronounced by scientists and people who know latin. The official pronounciation is "Jigga", like Gigantic. (Actually, it drove me nuts too, and then I looked it up. Go figure.)
- toddomatic, on 05/20/2008, -2/+17I was kinda feeling sorry for the guy until I read this in his Wikipedia entry:
"On a personal note, he lived with Bridget Fonda from 1990-1998, and with actress Jennifer Jason Leigh from 1985-1989." - cmyk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16So he went from being McFly Jr. to being The Fly Jr. What a world.
Thank god Zemeckis went with MJF. - Charlotte_Web, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Actually, looking back on it, it does seem like everyone nailed their parts pretty well. If they had to film it twice, then I guess that explains why; they had lots of practice.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14from what I understand they were going to release this with the box set but pulled it at the last moment
- itsallgeektome, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13I bet that really sucked for the other actors, filming the movie twice. Then again, they probably had the scenes down cold the second time around.
I wonder if they made any other major changes between versions. (From the pictures it looks like it was exactly the same) - RyeBrye, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12http://duggmirror.com/movies/The_Back_the_Future_Movie_You_ll_Never_See_Screenshots
- but it doesn't have the images. (duggmirror kind of sucks like that)
The Wayback machine has them:

I love this series... I wasnt even born when Pt 1 came out but I rented this movie at least 20 times when I was 11 years old. - joehobbes, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14No it doesn't
And I'm a HUGE BTTF fan.
Another sequel would have a 99% chance of ruining the name... - opps12, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11I didn'tknow about it, therefore a dig, and i'm happy it came up
- EvilTesdall, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15its "back TO the future" .....
- kidblast, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11My whole world just came crashing down on me.
- Smokes, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Wow! He lived the Single White Female story out in real life!
- ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11That's just weird.
WTF is with his hair?
He does look like MJF though (although MJF doesn't look nuts). - TheWriteGuy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Maybe he wasn't as good as Fox, but Stoltz has a stronger resemblance to Crispin Glover and Lea Thompson. He looks related to them.
- FrenchMaidTV, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10How our lives would be different if Eric had been in the final cut.
- SaranWrap, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I miss the days when terrorists would just chase people around in Volkswagen buses with RPG's!
- RareSaturn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8It's not a case of Stoltz being so bad they had to replace him, they originally wanted MJF to play the part but couldn't get him, so they got Stoltz instead. Then MJF became available so they grabbed him.
- DiamondIce, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9@mr.hostility
That was uncalled for. - DisembarkedOne, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Eriz Stoltz was replaced 6 weeks into the production and it's not secret.
(imdb even lists it)
mainly because he couldn't portray a teenager as well as they hoped.... - Ndiggnation, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I read about Eric Stoltz some time ago on BTTF.com I believe. Kinda strange actually seeing the shots though.
That trilogy is one of my favorite of all time, and I've wondered if it would've been any better or worse with Eric. To me, the play between Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd made the movies. It just wouldn't be the same without Fox.
Maybe if we were looking back 20 years on if Eric were the star, and Michael were the original, I'd be saying the same thing about Eric. - TheWriteGuy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6It wasn't just that they used footage from Part I; the actor hired to play the older George McFly had been made up to look like an elderly version of Crispin Glover. That's why Glover sued.
In an ideal world, they should have gotten Glover for Part II (and expanded George McFly's role). And for Part III, they should have cast Stoltz to play Marty's ancestor Seamus McFly, to make up for replacing Stoltz in Part I. That's just my opinion of course. - Flimnit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6There's had been alot of controversy surrounding these films. In the second film Cripsin Glover would not return so they used footage from Part 1. He sued Spielberg's production company and won alot of money.
- themarq, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6It would be amusing to see at least a clip or two of this in a Back to the Future boxed set... hell Eric Stolz can probably use the money.
I'd also like to see more of Tom Seleck as Indiana Jones (his screen test is on the DVD set that came out a few years back). - slamm6, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6There are always a few retards saying, "fake", or "photoshop". Check out the comments in the "pictures CNN won't show" digg. They are always there. They're like a fungus under your toenail that won't go away.
- Gridl0ck, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8He's actually still in the final movie, in a couple of scenes where Marty is walking away in the distance, that's Eric - at the Under The Sea dance, iirc.
Whoever dugg this obviously has yet to go through imdb looking at the 'trivia' for all the films they've ever seen... - bpapa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6"roger and ebert"
wow, this particular thread of comments is such a great play on the original comment and the authors don't even realize. - Dgen_X, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5it was mentioned in the special features on the first disc in the box set, and a few scenes were shown if I remember correctly
- Matrix_Prime, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5yeah, when I ws younger, I didn't know that it was a different actor for George McFly in Part II. The makeup on the older version of the character was pretty good.
- jeremyh42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4heh... when I clicked on this article, there were 1985 diggs
- brownb2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Faked pictures or not, Stoltz was Mc Fly before MJF. It's mostly irrelevant if the pics are fake (which I don't think they are).
- andrewbmoore, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5It looks as though the screenshot was taken half-way through a frame in interlaced mode. I've seen that happen before on screenshots of movies, where half of one frame is mixed in with half of another.
- steveoa3d, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5What a trip to be able to see the other version. I wish they would release it as I would just love to see it.
- superal1394, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I want a Mr. Fusion for my car.
- revidium, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4There is a clip or two in the boxed set. Watch the spcial features on the first disc.
