- Couchy, on 03/11/2008, -0/+5Dead Heat, Shock Waves, all 4 romero flicks up till land, RotlD 1&3, Lucio Fulci's Zombie, Re-Animator, Dead Alive
Aside from the video game crap the list is pretty solid. If anyone hasn't seen the movies I even just mentioned you can't bash the list. - rpgmaker, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1No Nemesis from RE3?
- Couchy, on 03/11/2008, -0/+5Dead Heat, Shock Waves, all 4 romero flicks up till land, RotlD 1&3, Lucio Fulci's Zombie, Re-Animator, Dead Alive
- JEAH, on 03/11/2008, -23/+4"If you've seen Day of the Dead, George A. Romero's criminally underrated follow-up to his acclaimed horror masterpiece Dawn of the Dead..."
criminally underrated?? gimme a break. that movie's terrible. and they give top honors to one of the zombie's from that movie. FAIL FAIL FAIL! We all know that Zombie Flanders is the greatest zombie of all time!- TheMangler, on 03/11/2008, -3/+15Are you joking or are you just a total imbecile? Day of the Dead rules.
- Coffeedemon, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1Is that the one where a helicopter nicks the top of a zombie's head off or is that the original Dawn?
- NovaPrime9, on 03/11/2008, -0/+3That was the end of the original Dawn.
- akrondude, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1it wasn't the end of dawn, you're thinking of the original, but unfilmed ending where gaylen ross kills herself by standing up into the blades of the helicopter.
in fact, the zombie who's we see blown apart by the shotgun in the apartment building was originally supposed to be gaylen's head, but, when they changed the ending to a "less depressing" one, they changed the hair, and added a beard, then actually blew it apart with a shotgun.
this is all explained in the original Dawn of the dead commentary.

- nbcaffeine, on 03/11/2008, -11/+3Why are we celebrating zombies? I certainly am not going to promote that which will eat my skin for breakfast.
- Stemnin, on 03/11/2008, -0/+5BRRRRRRAINS!
- Hillsbottom, on 03/11/2008, -8/+88What about Jesus?
- Dundasbro, on 03/11/2008, -6/+2Epic win.
- BEloftyIRONS, on 03/11/2008, -2/+5He had higher brain function. I think he would be classified as a day walker.
- bosssmiley, on 03/11/2008, -6/+16Jesus didn't eat people (like all proper zombies do), he encouraged other people to eat him. Necrophagomasochism FTW!
(gotta love Digg, never, ever, ever thought I'd have the above conversation...) - cr4wl3r, on 03/11/2008, -3/+4What about Eddie? The Iron Maiden Zombie? He should definitely be on this list.
- CovardeAnonimo, on 03/11/2008, -4/+3cosmic jewish zombie FTW!
- Abilities, on 03/11/2008, -2/+2its possible Jesus was a Zombie. he could turn the human flesh into anything, say, fish?
- JimmySpaza, on 03/11/2008, -5/+2Can't bury you enough.
- DangerMouse9, on 03/11/2008, -1/+1was the pun intended with that one?
- SSCrow, on 03/11/2008, -2/+5Jesus is already on next weeks top 25 Dinosaurs of all time list!
- JimmySpaza, on 03/12/2008, -1/+2Anyway, Jesus was resurrected, not simply reanimated which is what a zombie is.
Resurrection involves making you like new or better than before...and includes placing your soul or spirit back in your body. This can only be accomplished by God. This is what the Bible is talking about.
Reanimation takes your rotting body and simply makes it lifelike. There is no spirit within the body...other than a demonic spirit maybe.
You guys really haven't thought this through much, have you?- Continuum, on 03/12/2008, -2/+3"Resurrection involves making you like new or better than before...and includes placing your soul or spirit back in your body."
I guess those nail holes in his hands were there since birth?- JimmySpaza, on 03/13/2008, -1/+1If you read the Bible, you'd know why God left the holes in Jesus' hands and side. They were left to convince the disciples that this was the same Jesus that was crucified. It's a sign.
- TheCatsPants, on 03/13/2008, -1/+1I thought that Thomas got admonished for checking for physical proof.
- JimmySpaza, on 03/14/2008, -1/+1@ TheCatsPants
"I thought that Thomas got admonished for checking for physical proof."
No, Thomas was not so admonished as he missed a good opportunity to believe the promises of God without having to see.
"And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: [then] came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace [be] unto you.
Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust [it] into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed [are] they that have not seen, and [yet] have believed." - John 20:26-29
Sometimes, God knows that it requires sight to believe something. Sometimes all we need is faith in the promises that God has already given us. - TheCatsPants, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1I'm not going to disagree with you, since there is more than one way to intepret this story. But I think I am still on Thomas's side.

- doshindude, on 03/11/2008, -9/+4I Am Legend? *runs*
- yohnstoppable, on 03/11/2008, -3/+6That movie was such a pile of *****
- lolinyerface, on 03/11/2008, -1/+4We are "his" legend! No he was the legend, because he was a monster in their eyes. Stupid hollywood ending is stupid.
- DangerMouse9, on 03/11/2008, -0/+0Are you 12 or are you just an idiot?
I Am Legend didn't have zombies in it, or even zombie-esque creatures. They were more vampiric.
- yohnstoppable, on 03/11/2008, -3/+6That movie was such a pile of *****
- racco, on 03/11/2008, -0/+6Hare Krishna Zombie FTW!
- lpmiller, on 03/11/2008, -0/+20Zombie Bub is a hero and a patriot. He has never taken a bribe or used the services of 5,000 dollar hookers. Zombie Bub for president!
- Landeyda, on 03/11/2008, -2/+26No headcrab zombie? Fail.
- ChairShot83, on 03/11/2008, -3/+5Nowhere on that list should there be any zombie from the Resident Evil movies.
- slvrbullet87, on 03/11/2008, -0/+5Luckily they are both from the game, and i am happy they gave zombie elephant some love. As one of the 4 people who played outbreak 2, i have to say he is one of the best bosses in all of RE
- kue04, on 03/11/2008, -5/+16What about 28 days later and 28 weeks later?
- Lanefair, on 03/11/2008, -0/+13Technically not zombies because they're not dead, I don't care either way, but some people will take it personally!
- Elfman, on 03/11/2008, -1/+3Don't mod him down. He is completely correct. Resident Evil (games or movies) are not zombies either.
- L4WL3RS34L, on 03/12/2008, -0/+1Umm..yes they are, Capcom even calls them zombies. There are a few in the games and movies that aren't zombies though.
- Elfman, on 03/11/2008, -1/+3Don't mod him down. He is completely correct. Resident Evil (games or movies) are not zombies either.
- warriorscot, on 03/11/2008, -3/+2days, maybe weeks never that was a seriously crap film, it should have been a prequel or run along the same time line as the original perhaps showing a military unit like the one in the first but from infection day to 28 days later, or maybe follow UK troops that were abroad returning with a NATO force to restore order but the yankaholic crap fest it was doesn't merit the 28 name. In days it was scary, atmospheric and the zombies were the scary fast kind I don't care what anyone says slow zombies are not frightening.
- omega6, on 03/11/2008, -0/+3The frightening thing about slow zombies is that they don't need to be fast. They have numbers. Run as you will but they don't die and they don't stop. Each person they convert adds to their numbers until no matter how fast you run, they're everywhere. I think that was the thing that really scares the ***** out of most people. Eventually, there's nowhere to hide.
- Continuum, on 03/12/2008, -0/+1I know this all to well after reading World War Z. I use to think "it would be awesome if zombies would invade town 'cause then I could bust out a sword and a 9mm..." and so on. Now, I never want a run in with Zack.
- akrondude, on 03/11/2008, -0/+228 days/weeks were NOT zombies, digg me down all you'd like, but they were never dead, just insane with anger.
- Lastgreatwar, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1You are exactly right. They are infected. In the 28 days/weeks later catalog they refer to it as the "Rage" virus. In Romero films the Zombies are just badass, slow, and creepy. He is great with atmosphere. For me these types of movies are separate. I see how other people categorize them as the same though.
In my preference, I would rather have a Romero zombie chase me than the infected in 28 weeks/days later.- Clumber, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1Do we get to choose which kind when the inevitable Zombie Outbreak occurs?

- Scrappy1850, on 03/11/2008, -1/+6Stubbs the Zombie FTW
- Dundasbro, on 03/11/2008, -4/+8You know soon they will be submitting "14 Greatest Shrubs in Film" to Digg, its a matter of time before they run out of options for lists.
- yohnstoppable, on 03/11/2008, -0/+3The "Where's my cake!" zombie should have been higher. I had so many nightmares about that one as a kid :(
- scififan9009, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1Alice Cooper homeless zombie from "Prince of Darkness?"
- NovaPrime9, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1It's not every day that you see Alice Cooper stab someone with a bicycle. Fun movie. :)
- fiTs, on 03/11/2008, -11/+4Seriously, what about Jesus?
- Elfman, on 03/11/2008, -1/+6Tar Man scared the ***** out of me when I first saw that. Fail for not making him #1
- squirrelza, on 03/11/2008, -0/+7But I don't care darling, because I love you, and you've got to let me eat your brains!
- namelessXsilent, on 03/11/2008, -1/+3Liu Kang, really??
- bigfatpaulie, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1They got the timeline wrong too. Liu Kang was killed in Deadly Alliance and returned as a zombie in Deception.
- legendxx, on 03/11/2008, -6/+6What a ***** list.. there's like 3 movies total in there.
- Couchy, on 03/11/2008, -0/+4I only did a quick scan but I counted 15 not including zombies from the same movie, video games and music videos
Typical response from someone who hasn't seen half the movies on that list.
- Couchy, on 03/11/2008, -0/+4I only did a quick scan but I counted 15 not including zombies from the same movie, video games and music videos
- N00F, on 03/11/2008, -1/+4What about "Get the damn screw driver outta my head", from Night of the Living Dead II?
- Amadeus2490, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1You mean Dawn of The Dead.
- Foenetik, on 03/11/2008, -3/+11Needs more Fido.
- christianboutin, on 03/11/2008, -0/+5Indeed, how they could overlook Fido baffles me. Also Baby Selwyn's dad was at least as cool as Baby Selwyn. Though he was somewhat cooler before becoming a zombie.
- sindex, on 03/11/2008, -2/+4If Bub wasn't #1, I'd have buried this. "Hello, Aunt Alicia."
Pretty decent list. Glad to see shark fighting zombie in there.- Amadeus2490, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1I scrolled right to #1 to make sure Bub was there before I read the rest of the list.
- H0tKarl, on 03/11/2008, -1/+6deadites > zombies
- BadLeroy2000, on 03/11/2008, -0/+2Fido should be in here as well!!! Also Nurse Zombie from the original Dawn.
- Thrilltone, on 03/11/2008, -5/+3Sweet Zombie Jesus
This is why the Roman Empire fell. You must destroy the brain! - Masefield, on 03/11/2008, -0/+7What about the little girl in the basement in "Night of the Living Dead?" That scene still scares me.
- Amadeus2490, on 03/11/2008, -0/+2Original or '90 ?
- johnpaul191, on 03/11/2008, -0/+3The cadaver zombie from Return of the Living Dead is kind of classic.
The film is represented enough on the list though, and it made me realize they had some really great standout zombies. - chrismgtis, on 03/11/2008, -0/+5I was going to be angry if Tarman wasn't pretty close to #1. Although the movie was slightly humerous and cheesy, it had great zombies and Tarman was the best. I hate humor in zombie movies and like them to be serious but when he turned around and said "Brains" and later "More brains!" I thought it was great.
- Amadeus2490, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1SLIGHTLY humorous and cheesy? They took the ball and ran with it. . .that's why I love it.
- Amadeus2490, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1SLIGHTLY humorous and cheesy? They took the ball and ran with it. . .that's why I love it.
- NeoCortex, on 03/11/2008, -2/+7Evil Ash?
- Amadeus2490, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1I'm blind! I'm blind! . . .ehhhhhhhh!!!
- lolinyerface, on 03/11/2008, -4/+2Why not 27 Greatest Zombies?
- Dudeee, on 03/11/2008, -5/+4was this list made by someone who just looked at the covers of movies and games, bad list.
fido from the movie Fido is a great zombie! oh nice mention of stubs i love that game - BingoPower, on 03/11/2008, -1/+3Awesome, a "top 'N' list" that was actually worth reading! dugg!
- wanderingsun, on 03/11/2008, -0/+2That's crazy about Clairvius Narcisse. Yet another reason not to try Datura. I would like a bite of puffer fish, though
- Rhuantavan, on 03/11/2008, -2/+1Can Beetlejuice be classified as a zombie?
- diggerphelps, on 03/11/2008, -3/+1No, he's just a short black man.
And he's as bad as can.
jollydwarf.com - diggerphelps, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1As for the Michael Keaton Beetlejuice, I believe he was actually a ghost.
Zombies are re-animated dead bodies with no souls,he was plenty spirited. - NightStryke, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1he is a poltergeist
- diggerphelps, on 03/11/2008, -3/+1No, he's just a short black man.
- eliezersilver, on 03/11/2008, -2/+3Fantastic list
- mattes5, on 03/11/2008, -3/+7Great list until I got to number one... Bub was a low point in the Romero dead series for me.... zombies that have some what intellegence and can learn? blah makes the zombies seem too human and robs what makes them scary.... but idk why Romero always wanted to play out this theme... but he constantly revisits it
- asa400, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1IMO, it's a matter of playing with the metaphorical relationship between zombies and ordinary humans. There are plenty of humans that act like total zombies (I'm surrounded by a few right now), and thus zombies that have human traits are interesting. Part of what makes the zombie genre so great is that it actually does relate to real life.
- SilverBack101, on 03/11/2008, -0/+4Is it me or does the shark in #5 just look sad? :(
- yohnstoppable, on 03/11/2008, -0/+4I'd be sad if a zombie ripped my fin off.
- zyrobyte, on 03/11/2008, -3/+4Perfect list! I'm a huge zombie fan and completely agree with this list. I was glad to see Bub as #1, but with the recent movie Fido, I was somewhat disappointed that he wasn't on the list. :(
- lickmylovepump, on 03/11/2008, -3/+2pretty lame.
- coyote1284, on 03/11/2008, -0/+10Boycott Romero, the father of bigotry and hate-speach against our reanimated brothers! Zombie-ism is a serious disease that requires study and treatment. We don't just shoot someone with HIV because we're afraid of being infected, do we?
This message brought to you by P.E.T.U., People for the Ethical Treatment of the Undead. - Zombi, on 03/11/2008, -0/+3dugg for subject matter. I'm glad there are some ones on here I haven't seen. I'll have to get watching.
- pnunn, on 03/11/2008, -1/+4where's Fido?- agreed. Frankly I don't understand how there aren't more from the Dawn of the Dead remake- One Armed Asian Jogger Zombie? Little Girl on Roller Skates (though not when actually infected) Zombie ? No Legs Parking Garage Zombie? Unexplained Head in a Cooler in the Middle of a Lake Zombie?
Not a bad list- but not perfect. I think Bub is a difficult one for the same reason I don't think 28 Days Later Rage Infected count- Bub is supposed to be impossible. You can't train zombies- So Bub is no more a zombie than the guy the British Army guys were keeping chained in the yard...
And if Bub is gonna be on the list then they totally need that guy on the list.- SSCrow, on 03/11/2008, -0/+2yeah Fido was an excellent Movie and a great Zombie!
- graemee, on 03/11/2008, -2/+1What about that Zombie from I am Legend? The one who tries to get his zombie chick back.
- Vigilante, on 03/11/2008, -0/+2Those were suppose to be vampires, not zombies.
- Thunderchiken, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1Those aren't zombies. I believe they're vampires, or maybe that's just the book.
- Thunderchiken, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1I should have refreshed first, to bad I can't delete that.
- thumbwar, on 03/11/2008, -0/+0Hmmm... yep it does pose the question of what consititutes a zombie!
- kamikaze87, on 03/11/2008, -0/+3Hare Krishna Zombie reminds me of Maynard James Keenan.
- Freedom74, on 03/11/2008, -6/+0What about the zombies from Shaun of the Dead???
- Thunderchiken, on 03/11/2008, -0/+4did you even read the list?
- SSCrow, on 03/11/2008, -5/+1Did they actually say that Day of the Dead was a good movie?
I almost want to bury the entire article just for #1.
Day of the Dead is by far the worse Zombie movie I have ever seen.
And I love Zombie Movies!
Dawn of the Dead is awesome!
Although not technically "Zombies" they should have added the enraged people from 28 days later.- deadbaby, on 03/12/2008, -0/+1Perhaps you're confusing the horrible "Day of the Dead 2" with the original Romero film from the 80s. If not then I dunno, all I can say is I disagree with you very strongly. I think it's one of the best zombie/horror films ever made. The sense of claustrophobic isolation is incredible in that movie. Romero uses his classic technique of using zombies as a backdrop to human conflict. Makeup/special effects are still good even by today's standards. It's one of my top 5 favorite horror movies ever made.
- Freedom74, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1Santanico Pandemonium (Salma Hayek) in From Dusk Till Dawn.... sexiest zombie...
- asa400, on 03/11/2008, -0/+4Sexy, yes. Zombie, no. She was a vampire.
- Briankh3, on 03/11/2008, -2/+3This zombie list is lame. Jay Leno zombie and Liu Kang? WTF?
- Briankh3, on 03/11/2008, -1/+1And the child molester zombie?????
- thenextman, on 03/11/2008, -0/+0Why no hanukkah zombie?
