- d2002, on 11/22/2008, -0/+25Dugg for Blues Brothers and Ronin.
- mreade, on 11/22/2008, -1/+22Dugg for The Bourne Identity. That Mini driving was wicked!
- marcus1060, on 11/23/2008, -0/+13Dugg for Bullitt! All time best car chase. I love it!
- macmcteague, on 11/23/2008, -3/+13Ronin should be #1. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.
- bishoprook, on 11/23/2008, -1/+10Where the hell is Children of Men? The car ambush, chase, and escape were breathtaking, even moreso when you realize it was all done in one take.
- HarrisonBn, on 11/23/2008, -0/+8No Death Proof?
- bobbknight, on 11/23/2008, -0/+7Meh CG car chases are not the *****.
- liljay2k, on 11/23/2008, -0/+6Dugg for Italian Job being number two, I thought it wouldn't even make the list.
- Tunguska, on 11/23/2008, -0/+6This is car Five Five... we're in a truck!
- abajaj2280, on 11/23/2008, -0/+5dugg for the perfect timing.
i JUST got off playing NFS Most Wanted. - Vladamir, on 11/23/2008, -1/+6Dugg for Ducati in The Matrix Reloaded.
- ishkabum, on 11/23/2008, -0/+5yea uh sounds like this owns all
- TheBigBad, on 11/23/2008, -0/+5great car chase and very underrated movie.
- kenhatesemos, on 11/23/2008, -0/+5what the *****... death proof had, in my opinion, THE best car chase scene in any movie to date. it deserved to at least be on this list.
- Hale, on 11/23/2008, -0/+5RTFA. It's number 13.
- theeris, on 11/23/2008, -0/+4Dugg for French Connection, which was a real car chase scene. No CGI, no wacky stunts.
- tugger, on 11/23/2008, -6/+10Where is the original (1973) version of Gone In 60 Seconds?
44 minute car chase.
No extras (people really diving for cover!)
Longest ever movie car jump (record still held) - arbysrocks, on 11/23/2008, -0/+3bullitt will always be number1 on a list like this. It will never be topped.
- sonar1, on 11/23/2008, -0/+3deathproofs' car chase was pretty cool
- kahoona1, on 11/23/2008, -0/+3"The motor...it's blown a rod"
"Is that serious?"
"Yep" - peestandingup, on 11/23/2008, -0/+3Dugg for Cannonball Run & the great Dr Helsing.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85PcMJ9D8X0 - lcarsdeveloper, on 11/23/2008, -1/+3They forgot the awesome Mini car chase from Macgyver! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVdKBibEM_Y
Amazing how a TV show could have the budget for such great stuntwork.
Wait...what do you mean the footage was "borrowed" from the Italian Job? - clintmaher, on 04/21/2009, -1/+3What, no Hoff??? What gives!
- jazino, on 11/23/2008, -0/+2Yeah, anyone who didn't like Deathproof I can't blame but I thought it was alright as part of the in-theater double feature. However that Vin Diesel trash should not be in there and I think DP would fit nicely.
- qbqb, on 11/23/2008, -0/+2No Seven-Ups?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmHxf4H-kLI - BTConan, on 11/23/2008, -0/+2Did you seriously just say the exact same thing mreade said a few posts up?
- jack2454, on 11/23/2008, -1/+33 pages?
- TheFinaleofSeem, on 11/23/2008, -0/+2What, no mention of What's Up, Doc? Granted, it wasn't a real heavy, serious car chase, but it's damned sure the funniest one I've ever seen and lasted a good 10-15 minutes. I wore out the tape years ago watching it.
- Jones82, on 11/23/2008, -0/+2The Quantum of Solace chase would have been good if they didn't cut away every half second, you could barely tell what was going on
- Clocked, on 11/23/2008, -1/+3Seriously the car chase in Blues Brothers should be number 1, all those other chases suck in comparison.
- sodade, on 11/23/2008, -0/+2Dugg for Vanishing Point. An existential crisis + a 1970 Dodge Challenger = ***** awesome.
- mecharabbit, on 11/23/2008, -0/+2Bullit is one of the few DVDs that I own. Bought it just for the car chase. It will never be equalled in our lifetime.
- yacks, on 11/23/2008, -0/+2No Shoot 'em up either..
but I like the Who Am I? Chase... that also includes an awesome parking job to evade the police that was some on some clips on Digg recently. - tgc1, on 11/23/2008, -1/+3Who Am I had a crap load of action and some wicked driving scenes. If you haven't seen it, you owe yourself to pick it up. It's pretty cheap now. The EVO 5 his co-star drives was incredible.
Ronin was another good example. Very action packed. Loved it.
The Matrix Reloaded, while more CG than anything, was also a pretty decent car chase.
If you have a little patience, watch The Island there's some neat car chase scenes with one concept car that was never released officially. Pretty neat. Sounds awesome on a home theater system.
One of the best car chase scenes, on a home theater setup with a good sub is in the movie Driven when they take the race cars out on the street. Crank up the volume and piss off your neighbors. Lots of fun. - LostOnion, on 11/23/2008, -0/+2Dugg for the right choice of Bullitt as number 1. It's grandfather of all car chases.
- Kelmon, on 11/25/2008, -0/+2I think that was the reason why the UK FHM magazine made Matt Damon an honorary Brit. You can't argue with that.
- ibgerd, on 11/23/2008, -0/+1The clip for the Cannonball Run is actually from the movie Cannonball (1976) starring David Carradine, not from Cannonball Run (1981).
- Remelox, on 11/26/2008, -0/+1I agree with almsot everything you said.
And people who slam Matrix Reloaded act like it was all CG. Take out the CG cars and you still have a woman on a motocycle driving against real traffic. There are a bunch of stunts including physical technology made just for that movie. And it is an entertaining scene which is the most important bit. - dvd14, on 11/23/2008, -0/+1That was a good one.
- shipwreck58, on 11/25/2008, -0/+1Death Proof, for everyone who keeps trumpeting it's non-inclusion, was a horrible film with a lame car chase. At least they got Bullit right.
- derekmas10, on 11/24/2008, -0/+1The fact that Steve McQueen did his own driving should be reason enough for it to be #1.
- Kelmon, on 11/25/2008, -0/+1Thanks for the comment - that saved me from reading the article. As long as The Blues Brothers makes the list then I'm happy. Has there ever been more police cars trashed in another movie?
- inactive, on 11/22/2008, -0/+1The first thing I thought of when I saw the title was Cannonball Run. I guess I wasn't alone.
- TheOneTrueGod, on 11/23/2008, -0/+1I don't know whether to bury it as spam because of the 1/4 content vs. 3/4 distraction (and spreading this over 3 pages) or to bury it as lame because they forgot to mention Zoƫ Bell's awesome ride (no CGI) in Death Proof.
- snowshoeless, on 11/23/2008, -0/+1were tractor-trailer chases not allowed, because how can this list be made without mentioning CONVOY? .
Kris Kristoffz + BIG RIG CHASE + CB radios = awesome - funnygreen, on 11/22/2008, -0/+1the Green Weenie has an epic car chase; I think you can still find it on youtube.
- edealeasy, on 11/23/2008, -0/+1How could it call "Taxi"? It's "transformer"
- Remelox, on 11/26/2008, -0/+1Well, it's nice that you can get that kind of sexual satisfaction from a video game.
- closetcases, on 11/23/2008, -0/+1
The Matrix chase wasn't done in Australia. It was at the Alameda base in San Francisco.
