Seems to be slowed down, due to the immense traffic! - rasterbator, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Jaws, Damien and Alien should be higher on the list. So should Jigsaw.
- jeffreym, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2How about George W. Bush in "Fahrenheit 911"?
Should be #1. - kbarrett, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Michael Myers is 20 times scarier than Anthony Hopkins! Halloween still scares the bejeezus outta me.
- kbarrett, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@jeffreym
Reality shows don't count.
- blackbeltbones, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12Hey, where's Blacula ? Bwaahaha!! Just kidding. Nice mutha-f'in list!
- empressofmetal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Glad the Tall Man made it to the list! He doesn't get enough spotlight because Freddy, Jason, and Michael Myers are so popular.
- aolhome23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5My favorite has always been Pinhead.
- empressofmetal, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Actually, I love Pinhead as well. He's a charismatic killer, like Hannibal Lecter ... except with pins in his head, lol. He's still cute though.
- chmod, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The Pinhead entry should have been the cenobites in general. Don't get me wrong, pinhead is by far the coolest, but the great thing about hellraiser was not the threat of pinhead appearing, but a team of cenobites coming to rip your ass apart.
- NoAccounting4me, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8What? No love for Patrick Bateman, from "American Psycho"?
"I'm sorry. I have to go... return some videos..."
I can never hear "Hip to be Square" without thinking of "is that an axe you're holding?"- kevin45, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Would you like to hear our specials?
NOT if you want to keep your SPLEEN. - SanTe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7"is that an axe you're holding?"
Yes it is!
My favorite line is a voiceover from Bateman: 'Look at that subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness of it. Oh my God, it even has a watermark...'
LOL!
Although that may be topped by: 'I'm on the verge of tears by the time we arrive at Espace since I'm positive we won't have a decent table, but we do, and relief washes over me in an awesome wave.'
American Psycho has got to be the most underrated black comedy film of the past 20 years. Christian Bale's performance is genius.
Now excuse me... I have to return some videotapes.
- kevin45, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Would you like to hear our specials?
- geeklibrary, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I'm more the bookish type so I'm not familiar with all of these people, but I was definitely scared by Hannibal Lector! His kind of scare were so cerebral!
- noGoodNamesLeft, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm not sure that eating Ray Liotta's brain was *quite* the correct meaning of "cerebral"...
- cmdrwhitewolf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Jaws, Alien, Freddie and Tall Man. Yep! But Jason seems to be a lame Michael Myers...
- bonesaw, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2dang...michael myers is a lame jason voorheis...even though he came first...somehow that doesn't seem to work. Nevermind
- chmod, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Somebody found the leprechaun and chucky scary? Christ.
- halvertos, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5what a lame list
- OMGWTFROFLMAO, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I'm surprised that the clown from Stephen King's IT didn't make it. He is the quintessential scary clown.
- spidoman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I agree. When Norman bates is number 11, and gets beaten out by some cheap B movie villians you know it's gotta suck.
- jatlasb, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3You gotta wonder where Pennywise from IT is. Tim Curry scares the bejesus out of all that's holy with the pure power of his jowls.
- kbarrett, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@OMGWTFROFLMAO
Clowns are just plain creepy. But the scariest clown was the one in Poltergeist. That freakin clown put a lot of people in therapy.
- icepick314, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2man...those American horrors are so not scary....
if you want some genuine horror movies and not gore, go watch Asian horror movies...
and no...US remakes doesn't count like The Grudge and The Ring...- gawdspeed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5That Audition chick made the list. And, to be honest, the American version of The Ring was way better!
- bonesaw, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The only difference between Japanese horror is they don't have the necessary first scene of creeps that the American movies have. Recently I have watched "Tale of Two Sisters", "Ringu 2", "Audition", "Bride With White Hair" 1 and 2, and they're all the same....no better (or worse) than American monsters (except for Leatherface and Pinhead rule all). People think it's just cool to watch genuine Asian Horror...
- poxonyou, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Asian horror peeked a few years ago. Japan has been in a slump since with horrible Ringu and related movie knock-offs. Korea and Thailand have put out a few good films, but they're suffering the same problem now.
I still love 70s Italian slasher films. Good music, stylish, mystery. Do a search for "giallo" if you want to check them out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ni6HTd41pKw
Mondo Macabre recently put out 2 Indian horror movies from the 80s. I want to check those out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17j98v0qMQY
- airship, on 10/12/2007, -19/+11How come Bush didn't make the list? Scariest mass murderer EVER!!!
- gawdspeed, on 10/12/2007, -15/+7Right on!
- bonesaw, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13Please don't go there on a non-political board... I'm tired of all the damn political drama on Digg
- airship, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yeah, I hate myself. I'm sick of all the political crap, too. Just another couple of weeks 'till the election...
BTW, I love how I only got Dugg -2 but the guy who agreed with me is at -7. :) - Dayyve, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1That was damn funny. Why do people have to turn political snipe joking into some SERIOUS matter. You'd think you said you bopped his mom or something.
- evilTak, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1http://www.duggmirror.com
- kevin45, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Uh, the Jason Vorhees thing isnt 'HA HA HA CH CH CHHH"
It's "Jay jay jay jay son son son son"- ledmonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7"The repetitious noise that accompanies many of the POV shots is explained in the DVD commentary for the original film, by composer Harry Manfredini. During the end of the film, Mrs Voorhees speaks in a child's voice, ostensibly that of her son, telling her to "Kill her, Mommy". Manfredini spoke the first letter of "kill" and "mommy" through a guitar device to gain a strange echo effect, leading to the "ki-ki-ki-ki" and "muh-muh-muh-muh" used to show that the audience is seeing what the killer sees. Manfredini stated that it suggests that the killer is hearing these voices, and also makes the viewer aware that they are with the killer, rather than a general camera shot."

- sjbdallas, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The ones that are supernatural like Freddie, Leprechauns, Chucky etc that always come back to life or shape shift and crap dont' scare me at all.
It's the ones that are believable--like some wierdo with a chainsaw in some backwoods texas town that scare the crap out of me. I've never dreamed of Freddie or seen Pinhead in hell but i've driven through plenty of scary towns with my doors locked hoping I have enough gasoline and bladder room to make it to a real town.- bonesaw, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Have a little imagination
- Koosebane, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I thought "The Cell" was scary as hell.
Disappointed it didn't rate a mention.
Chucky and the Leprechaun aren't even in my top one hundred.
I'd also like to give a nod to Christopher Walken as the headless horseman in "Sleepy Hollow."- gawdspeed, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2The Cell. The freakin Cell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! J-Lo and horror don't mix -- not in the movies anyway.
- captinherb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2J-lo and horror, no. J-lo and whore, maybe.
- Koosebane, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I didn't exactly think J-Lo was the scary part.
Maybe that's just me. - yujie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I never actually finish watching a single Jlo movie, horror or not. I got so scare after the first 10 minutes and went home
- Snakedal337, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I'm glad to see jigsaw made it.
While those movies arn't exactly "scary" they are one hell of a psychological thrill ride. - spect3r, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1What about the cat-people from Sleepwalkers? :O
- drjekelmrhyde, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0what about the teminator in part one he killed like 50 cops
- jatlasb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2He's not back yet, apparently.
- remando, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Just for the record, it's Hannibal Lecter, not Lector
- daharris, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1wheres ichi!?
- martinj88, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1no Pennywise from Stephen Kings IT........Pennywise eats kids........Jaws just eats dumb teenagers....no competition
- Dayyve, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1If you ask me nobody has ever come close to duplicating the creep factor from Nosferatu. The period film quality combined with those creepy-ass long fingers and pointy ears struck a sour chord in me from my childhood when I first saw it to this day when I'm walking down alleys late at night and can just picture the shadows from those things passing across a garage or darkened corridor. Alien (the Original) would come a close second.
- Keitosha, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"See THIS!!?? THIS..... is my BOOMSTICK!!!!!"
ohhh.... wait...... that's funny. :)
"Heeeeeeeere's Johnny!!!!" - LuCiFer6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm glad they added Asami Yamazaki of Audition on this list because that bitch was ***** crazy in that movie. If you like movies that will ***** over your head, then I suggest watching this movie.
- thrlls33kr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm kinda missing Henry (Portrait of a Serial Killer) here. Maybe he's just too much of a guy-next-door to be scary. Until he and Otis go "shopping".
- audacious, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0oooo...scary stuff man...but is it REALLY as scary as it sounds?
