The 20 Most Anticipated Films of 2008
filmschoolrejects.com — I am absolutely sick of writing “Top Ten” lists — so I have decided to make my big 2008 preview list with 20 films, just to add a little spice to your life.

- Duilen, on 01/02/2008, -33/+1Be Kind Rewind and Get Smart look alright but I'm not too excited about the other 18.
- JettaMan, on 01/02/2008, -18/+1This reviewer is pretending that "Children of Men" was somehow a good movie. Shot his credibility right there.
- lharrod, on 01/02/2008, -0/+2Children of Men was a brilliant movie on many levels. Your comment shot your credibility point blank.
- timusca, on 01/02/2008, -1/+212 out of 20 of those films are sequels or based on old films/cartoons.
- EvaMonkey01, on 01/02/2008, -0/+3...and?
Just because it's a sequel doesn't mean it won't be good, look at Godfather part 2, T2: Judgement Day, Empire Strikes Back or even Matrix Reloaded (One of these things is not like the other), even movies based on cartoons hae been good in the past, Spider-Man, Batman Begins, X-Men, all awesome.
I say, wait until it premiers and then judge.
- EvaMonkey01, on 01/02/2008, -0/+3...and?
- OwdenBowden, on 01/02/2008, -1/+3Why the ***** does anyone give a rats ass what Bill Maher thinks. Just another vehicle for Hollywood to push their agenda on the world.
Sorry - my first rant of the New Year....

- zestyhedgehog, on 01/02/2008, -2/+121No way I'm going to see any movie with Paris Hilton in it.
- duser4, on 01/02/2008, -1/+22I'd see a movie with paris hilton in it just to see her murdered. Like house of wax
- tendonut, on 01/02/2008, -1/+15I'd like to stick MY pole through her head

- thedragon4453, on 01/02/2008, -0/+2Im afraid there is no situation in which I will see a movie with Hilton in it.

- alwilson, on 01/02/2008, -1/+1The only movie that would be good with PH is one showing her trying to save drunk elephants.
- Codee, on 01/02/2008, -4/+4I liked her very first movie. "A Night In Paris" . Low light and low budget, but she really gave several decent performances in that Cumdance gem.

Its a movie that looks interesting even for the non-LOST fans out there.

- outsid3rNo17, on 01/02/2008, -0/+2Mine is Rambo. I'm sure Dark Night will be the best action movie of 2008, that is why I am not very curious about it. I'm much more curious on how Stallone will end his career. He has given me many laughs, so I wish Stallone a great movie.
Maybe the next 007 will be a movie to remember, too. Casino Royale was much better than I expected. - michaeltime, on 01/02/2008, -0/+2Wow. No Jumper. Just check out the HD trailer
Come on sheeple.
http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/jumper/- darkfire532, on 01/02/2008, -1/+1Jumper is in a "hit-or-miss" situation. It can turn out to be incredible, but it can fail horribly as well. But It has Morgan Freeman, so it'll probably be great.
- Hewolf1982, on 01/02/2008, -0/+2Thats Samuel L Jackson not Morgan Freeman
- slvrbullet87, on 01/02/2008, -0/+0Is there really that much difference? Every good black streetsmart role goes to sam jackson freeman or denzel, and they are all three amazing in just about every movie

- nealparr, on 01/02/2008, -5/+20Like the last "most anticipated" list, I'm disappointed that this one leaves off the X-Files sequel set to come out in July. Us X-Files fans have certainly been anticipating it for a long time now and for it to finally be coming out, it deserves to make any "most anticipated" list. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0443701/
- LouTreize, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1Xzibit!?...never saw that one coming...
- sv650touring, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1Turns out he's what the "X" in X-Files stands for. Who knew?

- wassim2k, on 01/02/2008, -1/+11Would have been nice to know the genre of film (drama, comedy, thriller...)
- anagoge, on 01/02/2008, -4/+26Just out of curiosity, even with Edward Norton, is anyone looking forward to The Incredible Hulk?
- dcmjzero, on 01/02/2008, -3/+21didn't they already make that movie a few years ago?
- jordanlgta, on 01/02/2008, -2/+4Some woman named Ang Lee made it. And I am definitely not talking about that Asian guy.
/sarcasm
- jordanlgta, on 01/02/2008, -2/+4Some woman named Ang Lee made it. And I am definitely not talking about that Asian guy.
- thailand1972, on 01/02/2008, -2/+13I'm looking forward to this film *because* Ed Norton's in it, *despite* it being The Incredible Hulk.
- sv650touring, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1Or put simply, yes. That is exactly what he was getting at . Norton is probably good, hulk movies are probably not.
- INDOAZZ, on 01/02/2008, -0/+6It should be much different than the BANA film! It migh be a GREY HULK instead. Norton can't make it that bad. He usually puts out solid performances.
- neocr0n, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1I wouldn't say I'm looking forward to it, certainly not the way I am The Dark Knight, but I will defiantly check it out. A film with Edward Norton and Tim Roth can't be ignored, I'm hoping this does for the hulk franchise what Batman Begins done for Batman. Should be interesting.
- Syric, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1The only downside is that it might be a little too soon since the Lee/Bana film. But there's some anticipation among the comic-savvy population.
- leif77, on 01/02/2008, -2/+3you know... except for the fact that hes writing the screenplay too... and hes a ***** genius... yeah... not really looking forward to it.
- Hermiod, on 01/02/2008, -0/+3If they get it right, it could be great. Next to Spider-Man, the Hulk should be the easiest of Marvel's major characters to write for the big screen. Certainly easier than the super soldier, the billionaire arms merchant, the Norse God, the wife beater who can make himself huge, the blind lawyer etc.
- outsid3rNo17, on 01/02/2008, -0/+2I think they're trying to bank on the dying franchise. The 2003 movie was a big budget one, so there's really no need for a remake so soon.
I have to say that, although I find Bana great, his casting was terribly wrong in Hulk.
- dcmjzero, on 01/02/2008, -3/+21didn't they already make that movie a few years ago?

- sullyz0r, on 01/02/2008, -0/+13Actually a pretty good list. I think Pineapple Express should go up there as well. Seth Rogen, I can't get enough of him.
- AndrewDB, on 01/10/2008, -6/+2Get Smart looks okay, I can't believe they're adding another "Agent" though. :/
- PopcornDave, on 01/02/2008, -1/+5How old are you? Have you seen the original series? Agent 99 was Smart's girlfriend and then later his wife. I'm just curious who's going to play the head of KAOS. The original was Bernie Koppel - the doctor on the Love Boat. And he was young then. That shows you how old they're going back to find scripts of television shows to make movies from.
- AndrewDB, on 01/10/2008, -6/+227 in 15 days, and yeah, I've seen the original series..
I was raised on classic TV like Get Smart, The Dick Van Dyke Show, I Love Lucy, The Twilight Zone, and etc.

- sv650touring, on 01/02/2008, -0/+2and also because he, along with the rest of the film, were rubbish
- Frost9999, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1I can't believe that from a list of 20 films, about 2 were original ideas instead of remakes/sequels/from a book, or a combination of all three.
- wild, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1They relaunched the Batman franchise after four films (2 of which were failures).
It took one film for the to relaunch the Hulk franchise. Think about that before you get really excited, or before you expect it to make billions at the BO.
- LucasVB, on 01/02/2008, -0/+6It's not Hulk 2. It's a entirely different film.
- cyphin6, on 01/02/2008, -3/+25Dugg for being one of the few to have faith for Star Trek

No, I am really asking that. The cast doesn't exactly bode dramatic appeal.

- eTronicGaming, on 01/02/2008, -11/+15What about Harry Potter 6?
- bejayel, on 01/02/2008, -0/+3The book was awesome, i hope the film brings it justice. The rest of the movies have been fairly good so far.

- doctordbx, on 01/02/2008, -1/+1Because the author is obviously a Matrix fan.
I bet you couldn't find 2 people more able to ***** up a movie than the Wachowski brothers. Even with a terrible script and recently made it up (or down) to the B list actors... guarantee the Wachowskis will ***** it in ways otherwise unimaginable. - wild, on 01/02/2008, -0/+3I think SPeed Racer could be the next Fifth Element. Something that won't be appreciated until it finds the right audience after its release.
- doctordbx, on 01/02/2008, -1/+1Because the author is obviously a Matrix fan.
- xdvx, on 01/02/2008, -31/+5For god sake The Dark Knight, films like this are for kids. Can't believe it is most anticipated film. Who understands what is good these days...

- xdvx, on 01/02/2008, -10/+0Yeah, films about Batman is really interesting to watch. I don't watch films with absolutely no logic.
- bagboyrebel, on 01/02/2008, -0/+3you sound like a really fun person.
- Syric, on 01/02/2008, -3/+2Yes, films about Batman "is" really interesting to watch. In fact, that's why people anticipate it. I'm guessing you don't know anything about comics, specifically Batman. I'm guessing your entire knowledge of Batman comes from Superfriends and Adam West. I'm guessing you're not smart enough to watch a Chris Nolan movie. I'm guessing you smell really really bad.
- xdvx, on 01/02/2008, -10/+0Yeah, films about Batman is really interesting to watch. I don't watch films with absolutely no logic.
- bejayel, on 01/02/2008, -1/+4Shrek is for kids too and that movie was great. ***** you and your not liking children movies.
- alwilson, on 01/02/2008, -1/+0Well, it's obvious you don't know what's good.
- arunforce, on 01/02/2008, -3/+1Pretty good list, glad someone included Harold and Kumar 2.
However, swap it for number 3. - Duke3d87, on 01/02/2008, -1/+1i'm excited for batman, narnia, James bond, and harry potter.

- duke1981, on 01/02/2008, -14/+4Come on James Bond movie? The last one was a great action movie but a poor James Bond movie. They had better do a lot better or else Timothy Dalton is my new favorite Bond.
- Syric, on 01/02/2008, -1/+1First time I've heard that.
- duke1981, on 01/02/2008, -2/+1Sorry. I know Bond fans that are over the age of 30 and know the whole ideology of Bond. If I was born in 85 or later than maybe I would have liked this movie.
- rtrypowred, on 01/02/2008, -0/+0I remember watching the Dalton films when I was younger and didn't understand, because Bond wasn't Connery or Moore. Because of that I wrote off the Dalton films as crap for years.
A couple years ago, I went back and watched a bunch of Bond films I hadn't seen in a while, and realized that "The Living Daylights" is one of the best Bond movies ever made (IMHO). Due to that, and the fact that even "License to Kill" is better than some of the later Moore films, makes Dalton my favorite alternate Bond (Connery being the one true Bond).
Order of Bond Preference:
Connery
Dalton
Moore/Craig (Jury is still out, need more movies to make a decision, but I really dug Casino Royale)
Brosnan
Lasenby
- Syric, on 01/02/2008, -1/+1First time I've heard that.

- Hermiod, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1I dunno. Kristen Bell = Good. Russell Brand = Bad.
- INDOAZZ, on 01/02/2008, -2/+6Sorry Duke! But the world is adapting to a new style of BOND. I think they got it in CASINO? He is gonna have a lot more to offer in this film. He had a lot to prove in that last one. If not him who else would you recommend?
- duke1981, on 01/02/2008, -0/+3Clive Owens would have been a great bond... and if they were going to use the title Casino Royal why not use the actual plot from Casino Royal?
- Syric, on 01/02/2008, -0/+2*Royale.
But really, it was close enough for my tastes. It had Bond working to bankrupt Le Chiffre, who was trying to pay off his debt to some bad guys. Bond survives a few attempts on his life, gets helped by Leiter and Mathis. Then one of the bad guys comes and kills Le Chiffre after Bond gets his balls whacked. And Vesper Lynd is a traitorous bitch.
In all honesty I liked the movie's plot better than the book's. I'm as much a Fleming fan as anyone, but it was just his first attempt at a novel, after all.- duke1981, on 01/02/2008, -0/+2True.
Just didn't feel like a "James Bond" movie to me. I'm not hating the movie it was a good movie just wasn't a "James Bond" movie for me. There was aspects that took me away from the feel of a Bond movie, like a car chase that lasted 15 seconds but otherwise it was a good action movie.
- duke1981, on 01/02/2008, -0/+2True.
- doctordbx, on 01/02/2008, -0/+3It was a Royale... with cheese.

WHAT?! That movie should be way freaking higher on the list! #9 definitely doesn't do it justice - and I'm pretty sure most people I know would be MUCH more excited to see it than, say, #7-9. Narnia might be more successful...but it's pretty much obvious that a big-budget CGI blockbuster would do well.- cyberoptic, on 01/02/2008, -1/+0Harold and kumar anything = I dont watch it.. - lopla, on 01/02/2008, -7/+2Um, most of those are movies -not- films. BIG difference ;)
- Syric, on 01/02/2008, -0/+6Not really... ;)
- drachemorder, on 01/02/2008, -0/+4People who make a distinction between "movies" and "films" are usually people whose opinion of movies is almost, but not quite, entirely unlike mine; therefore I pay them little heed.
- xlar54, on 01/02/2008, -2/+17Ya had me until "Sex in the City: The Movie".... I can still taste the vomit in the back of my throat...

- wild, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1"Bitch, Patrick Stewart is a ***** badass."
Someone actually typed that sentence?
- joshuaer, on 01/02/2008, -11/+419. The Incredible Hulk = read the comics, saw the movie and saw the tv show.
16. Speed Racer = What " moves suddly to the left" people are looking forward "all the sudden a still shot of me but the background is movie" to seeing this movie
14. Get Smart = based on inspector gadget which is based on the Get smart
13. James Bond 22 = for the love of god please stop telling him your plan and just shoot him in the head, Bond has always been cool but it's getting a little old.
12. Sex and the City: The Movie = you saw it all in the TV show unless you watched it on reruns on network TV.
10. Hellboy II: The Golden Army = based on Hellboy one which is based on a screen play which was taken from some comics.
8. The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian - based on a movie - based on a book.
7. Star Trek = based on the STNG the movie - based on STNG the tv show - based on Star trek the movies - based on Star trek.
6. Wall-E = true creative animation and i hope a good story line.
4. Iron Man = the song? the cartoon? or the comic?
2. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull = my god i do not even need to say any thing you all know what i will say!
1. The Dark Knight = can some one else do this one for me? thanks!
Ok so what i am i getting at the fact that allot of the stuff they are trying to hype of is a redo, remake or ad on. Why to sell another name when you can sell the same name doing the same thing but with a number 2 after it.
If batman used numbers and not other names i think batman would be at about 3000 by now.
If you really can not wait to see any of the above movies just watch the old ones and close your eye to picture new CGI effects!- joshuaer, on 01/02/2008, -0/+3Well i typed this at the bar and english is not my first language so i think it did well.
On that note i can already see several typo's but i am sure you all know what i meant to say! - alwilson, on 01/02/2008, -2/+2If they can't come up with anything new, then they should try combining movies. For example, they could have the joker kill Paris Hilton and Sarah Jessica Parker and when The Dark Knight comes to the rescue (driven by speed racer because the batmobile is out of commision), he is taken out by the Hulk. When Eric Bana realizes that he ***** up by killing Batman he calls his brother-in-law, Indiana Jones to see if he can help him escape to Africa to fight the Nazis. Meanwhile...
- joshuaer, on 01/02/2008, -1/+1They already do that.
scary movie, scary movie 2, Walk hard, another teen movie, and that new one that is coming out in 2008!
- joshuaer, on 01/02/2008, -1/+1They already do that.
- Hermiod, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1Erm, I may be misunderstanding you but Star Trek is not based on TNG. It's based on the original series with the major characters recast with younger actors.
- happyfundave, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1"they are trying to hype of is a redo, remake or ad on." Well this is a most anticipated list and people don't wait in anticipation for that movie they no nothing about filled with new talent. That isn't saying quality original movies wont get praised but without a strong fanbase from either the source material, previous work,or faith in the competency of the people behind it there is absolutely no reason to wait in anticipation.

- Bobbler, on 01/02/2008, -0/+0Yeah he is, but Fat Boy is not in the same league as anything else he done before (Shaun, Hot Fuzz, Spaced) and stunk to high heaven.
