"Bring us a pitcher of beer every seven minutes until somebody passes out. And then bring one every ten minutes." - HuskyPuzzle, on 06/24/2008, -2/+43I'll still take Revenge of the Nerds and Animal House over any of those new ones.
- skipthefrog, on 06/25/2008, -0/+32Real Genius is one of the hidden gems of the 80s. Props to you bytor.
'Would you prepared if gravity reversed itself? The only thing I can't figure out is how to keep the change in my pockets. I've got it. Nudity.' - inactive, on 06/25/2008, -0/+20Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
- TheJas, on 06/25/2008, -0/+18Although I am giving a kind of loose interpretation of "college themed" movies, I think many of these belong on that list and movies like "Accepted" do not.
Orange County
The Freshman
How I Got Into College
Good Will Hunting - magicjohnson, on 06/24/2008, -0/+18I've never heard of "With Honors" but that's one loaded cast.
- inactive, on 06/25/2008, -3/+191. Animal House
2. PCU
3. Revenge of the Nerds
4. Old School
5. Road Trip
6. Back to School
7. Van Wilder
8. Slackers
9. Real Genius
10. Dead Man on Campus
11. With Honors
12. Paper Chase
13. Rudy
14. Accepted
15. How High
16. Son-In-Law - dilkry, on 06/25/2008, -1/+16Buried for having a Paulie Shore on a "best of" list.
- skored, on 06/24/2008, -0/+15agreed. but 'old school' & 'road trip' are worthy contenders...
- bytor4232, on 06/25/2008, -3/+16With Honors changed my life. Just sayin.
And the popcorn gag in Real Genius was pure gold. I must of seen that movie a hundred times:
Mitch: You know, um, something strange happened to me this morning...
Chris Knight: Was it a dream where you see yourself standing in sort of sun-god robes on a pyramid with a thousand naked women screaming and throwing little pickles at you?
Mitch: No...
Chris Knight: Why am I the only one who has that dream? - MarkDTS, on 06/25/2008, -2/+13Not the greatest list, but who am I to deny PCU a digg.
"WE'RE NOT GOING TO PROTEST!
WE'RE NOT GOING TO PROTEST!
COME ON!
WE'RE NOT GOING TO PROTEST! " - nightwing2000, on 06/25/2008, -0/+10Breakfast Club - ummm, high school. You know, the place where you finished your education...
- ravenpen, on 06/25/2008, -0/+10I too love Real Genius, but it seems to be one of those films you had to grow up with. Every attempt I've made to show it to others in later life has been met with odd stares and bored shrugs.
Funny story, I was at a wedding where most of the guests were geeks like me and at the reception a few of us were discussing RG coming out on DVD. As it turned out I had received my copy in the mail that morning and grabbed the package on my way out the door.
For some reason everyone at my table thought it was due out the following week, so when I had my girlfriend produce the case from her purse the whole table just oooed and ahhhed and for one brief, shinning moment I was king of the dorks. - WilyHacker, on 06/25/2008, -0/+9Dugg for Real Genius
- TomK88, on 06/25/2008, -1/+9Could somebody post the list please? Blocked at work.
- jobo5432, on 06/25/2008, -1/+9This is an awful list...
Ok, I'll give your Revenge of the Nerds, PCU, Animal House, and even Old School, but what about:
"Higher Learning"
"The Program"
"Good Will Hunting"
"A Beautiful Mind"
"We are Marshall"
"Dead Poets Society"
And any movie list which includes a Paulie Shore moview gets no respect from me. - Stiles05s, on 06/25/2008, -8/+15accepted? terrible movie.
- nahsrocketeer75, on 06/25/2008, -1/+8"Paper Chase" was a great flick *and* a great TV show. ... Also, has there ever been a list like this where No. 1 was more predictable *and* deserved? I say at least not since the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor.
- hoisonsauce, on 06/25/2008, -0/+7Man...who knew Gutter would end up directing Iron Man?
- serif69, on 06/25/2008, -0/+7With the exception of Rudy, the list should be titled "16 Best College Themed Comedies". It's lacking Good Will Hunting and Flatliners.
- S201, on 06/25/2008, -0/+6It's one of the most famous jokes from Animal House, one of the best movies ever.
- babykicker, on 06/25/2008, -0/+6Definitely worth watching. It is not a drunken frat boy comedy like most college movies, rather a well told drama about a young man finding out what is truly important in life.
- Roger, on 06/25/2008, -0/+6The ending of Real Genius with all the popcorn is probably my all time favorite.
Plus Everybody Wants to Rule the World is an awesome song. - inactive, on 09/24/2008, -0/+6It's all about the triple lindy - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FUxUiMyt70
- dougmc, on 06/25/2008, -1/+7According to the author, perhaps?
As for 16, why not? Perhaps he didn't think #17 was so great. - nedzeve, on 06/25/2008, -4/+9"16 best"? According to whom? And why 16?
- 72doubledown, on 06/25/2008, -0/+5shhh.. he's on a roll.
- thegreenspanput, on 06/25/2008, -0/+5some good ones but some crap in there too - should have been a top 10 list.
Moira Kelly is hot. - cnot3, on 06/25/2008, -0/+5Many of those are set in high school, not college, DER!
- darny, on 06/25/2008, -1/+6For a second there I thought it's a generational thing, but then I wizened up. Back to School kills those two ***** any day.
- creole, on 06/25/2008, -0/+5"And then I saw the most horrible site I'd ever seen. Hollyfeld in his pajamas"
"Can you hammer a six inch spike through a board with your penis?"
"Not yet."
"A girl's got to have her standards."
Real Genius is probably one my top 20 movies OAT. - Crosshare, on 06/25/2008, -0/+5With Honors is a great movie. I think it contains Joe Pesci's best acting, and that includes Goodfellas.
- duke1981, on 06/25/2008, -2/+7Rudy should have been further up.
- reecon, on 06/25/2008, -0/+4I agree. I think Real Genius needs to be higher up on the list. Maybe number 3 or 4
- slsashrk, on 06/25/2008, -0/+4Look past the lame... Tiffani-Amber Thiessen FTW!
- Vvolf, on 06/25/2008, -0/+4Easily a top ten list...
1. Animal House
2. Revenge of the Nerds
3. Real Genius
4. Back to School
5. Good Will Hunting
6. Rudy
7. Dead Man on Campus
8. PCU
9. With Honors
10. Old School
"I LOVE college. I love everything about it. The people, the freedom. This room. This chair. Look at this chair!" - Roger, on 06/25/2008, -0/+4One of my favorite movies. Glad to see it on the list, but it should definitely be higher up
- blackhappy, on 06/25/2008, -0/+4Gutter is a tool!
- Conwaysb0718, on 06/25/2008, -1/+5Can you blow me where the pampers is?
- Merlin07, on 06/25/2008, -0/+4RUDY! RUDY! RUDY!
Ah. One of the best movies. Very inspirational. Must see. - phoenixshard, on 06/25/2008, -1/+4Animal House!! Greatest comedy ever.
- mywhitenoise, on 06/25/2008, -6/+9This is seriously one of the worst lists I have ever seen.
- SanTe, on 06/25/2008, -0/+3"You're Tall and Fat!"
"Yeah? Well you're short and ugly." - ShooterMcGavin, on 06/25/2008, -1/+4What? No "Higher Learning"?
Oh wait, that was terrible.
"The Program" was good though. - tjdegroat, on 06/25/2008, -0/+3Toe pick!
- dougmc, on 06/25/2008, -1/+4You mean the Accepted that's #14 in the list?
Or the Darius Miles who was in Van Wilder, #7 on the list? - babykicker, on 06/25/2008, -1/+4yes
- LuxFX, on 06/25/2008, -0/+3should have been MUCH higher on the list
- Conwaysb0718, on 06/25/2008, -0/+3You're gonna quote the same line that was in the post? Seriously, don't be that guy.
