  - Blazekun, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I agree totally. It was more a movie about two characters with the same names as those in a video game and a plethora of cameos from the video games. It was a very cyberpunk look at the Mushroom Kingdom. For those that looked "beyond the game" with the movie it was actually very enjoyable.
    
    It has a fairly unique story that actually explains a bit about why there are dinosaurs without being so super unrealistic like the game. It's actually probably fairly scientific in a "what if" sense. What if dinosaurs never went extinct? Well they (might) become smart. There wouldn't be any/many mammals. Primitive dinosaurs would be running around with highly evolved dinosaurs. Kind of like what we see today with animals.You have the normal animals like cats, and dogs. Then you have "almost human" animals like Chimps and the Great Apes.
    
    In any case the movie was set in a post-apocalyptic Mushroom Kingdom where water is nearly non-existent. Bad thing are bound to go down when that happens.
    It has tons of cameos. Like the Super Shoes, the Mushrooms, the Bomb-ombs, Yoshi, Goombas, and a whole lot more if you actually look.
    The sets were AMAZING in any sense of the word. These are some of the best Cyberpunk sets I've ever seen.
    The acting was for the most part good. This is also IMO the best that John Leguizamo has ever done.
    
    Also this is what spawned Daisy as being "Luigi's Princess"
    Not to mention the way they worked "Mario Brothers" to actually work in a real sense, and a humor sense. I really don't see how anyone could complain about it other than "It's not like the game!"
    
    You can't deny how much the movie actually influenced the flow of the game franchise.

#9,5, and 4 are the worst films IMO. Street Fighter, SMB, and Wing Commander are "bad" movies, but they are entertaining and fun to watch MST3K-style with a group of friends. But Uwe Boll's films are just unwatchable and reek of bad filmmaking.

why the street fighter movie couldn't have been about the rivalry between ryu & ken and about the 8 fighters and their stories, why the super mario bros movie couldn't take place in the mushroom kingdom with all the regular characters just as we know them...

This is not just my opinion, but a reflection of box office and dvd sales as well. I would hope that the next person to attempt this list actually spends more than 15 minutes on it.

Sure, the Uwe Boll movies pretty much suck, but it seems that nobody even gives the rest of the movies a chance. People care more about how closely the movie resembles the game rather than how entertaining the movie is and I think that is the wrong way to watch a movie.

Also, the resident evil movies aren't supposed to be horror, which I thought was a good thing because otherwise it would have been just another zombie movie in my opinion.

I know it's just a extended nintendo Commerical but that movie influenced me SOO MUCH! It also showed me where the warp whistle was in Mario 3! Name a movie that does that today. It also had Christian Slater and Fred Savage (wonder years/princess bride/little monsters etc) I loved that movie.

The problem is that people critiquing the films are too retarded to have played the games. But what is even worse is they assume that a movie with zombies has to be scary. Shaun of the Dead wasn't scary. By that logic it must be the worst "horror" film ever made. Resident Evil isn't horror, it's action. Those were good action movies and I anxiously await the final movie later this year.
