How did I know ET for the Atari would be #1? Can anyone make a list of anything horrible without that game being on top? YES WE KNOW ITS HORRIBLE. It stopped being news about two years ago when every internet news site covered how terrible it was. Listing it now is cliche.
- wwwdot1jesdotus, on 10/11/2007, -5/+2I'm just glad the Halo movie never happened. Would've completely ruined the game.
- rarson, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7I remember an issue of EGM when the Street Fighter movie game was in development. They had it versus Mortal Kombat 3 on the cover. I remember actually thinking that the game might be good.
This list fails for not having NES Total Recall or N64 Superman, and including Moonwalker, which was a surprisingly addictive game. I actually have a copy of that game... no, I didn't buy it, someone gave it to me, but I will admit spending quite a few quarters on the arcade machine. - sleze, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Ghostbusters for collecovision should definately be on that list. And, as much as I think that Michael Jackson is a freak, Moonwalker, both the Genesis game AND the mostly different arcade game, should be on the bizarro version of this list as they are two of the BEST video games based on a movie/video, EVER.
- blobzorz, on 10/11/2007, -5/+8Enter the Matrix was an amazing game.
- quakeIII, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Buried article as lame. Michael Jackson's Moonwalker is a great game. The gameplay is both challenging and fun, in addition to being humorous. Also, the graphics and music are great for the early 90s.
- spyrochaete, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2"no ghostbusters?
You better not be talking about the Commodore 64 version. - rarson, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1You know what? Lethal Weapon for the NES was also a shockingly ***** title. Far worse than several of the games on this list.
- macabaret, on 10/11/2007, -3/+38Wayne's World for SNES. If it were an ice-cream flavor, it'd be pralines and dick!
- Phyltre, on 10/11/2007, -24/+4I'm sorry, that comment is only acceptable if you are both female and undergoing pregnancy cravings. (I dare you to fulfill the latter only.) The mental images you have conjured are inexcusable.
- Protoss, on 10/11/2007, -0/+23Phyltre, never seen Wayne's World?
- Phyltre, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1Nope.
- Zap2, on 10/11/2007, -10/+6Star Wars Bounty Hunter...not one of the top ten worst games, not even the 100 worst. This person made this crap of, dugg down
- rzurad, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Agreed. And I was probably the only one, but I enjoyed The Blues Brothers game. It was a very decent side scroller.
- masonreloaded, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5@rzurad : Agree, the Blues Brothers game was nothing to do with the tone or story of the movie, but it was a GREAT little sidescrolling platformer... especially dug the dinky midi version of the tunes from the movie. But the other games on this list were complete *****...
- SuperBeast, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Bounty Hunter had some control problems, but there is no way in hell that it is worse than the back to the future trash.

I had the E.T. game and I agree 100% with the authors sentiment. I remember that I was confused about the game and I couldn't figure out what to do. Games today, thankfully, give you sense of direction.

- JackyAppleJones, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17I don't know, "Enter the Matrix" was bad, but there are games that are a lot worse.
- slayerab, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5But people will familiarize the suckiness of the matrix franchise with this game.
- chris9902, on 10/11/2007, -8/+4Enter the Matrix was total *****. I remember buying it and the first thing I thought was "who the ***** is this"? I wanted to be Neo. stupid game.
- crashingechelon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8I honestly didn't think Enter the Matrix was that bad. The Path of Neo though was complete garbage, I was expecting them to clean up their faults on EtM, but instead they lowered what was good and made the bad worse.
Street Fighter: The Movie I didnt think was that bad, but then again I was like 12 when that came out. - jjpertusch, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I've never understood the rampant hate for Enter The Matrix. Not only did I not think it was bad, i thought it was good. I enjoyed playing it. Some parts seemed unfinished and annoying, but it was still a fun game.
- ShyGuy91284, on 10/11/2007, -11/+0No surprise a movie by Uwe Boll would be Dead On Arrival...... Oh, wait, DOE stands for Dead Or Alive? Either way...

""La, a note to follow sew" - weakest lyric EVER"
The word is sol, not sew. (Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Ti, Do) - DarthMalcontent, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2How is "sol" "a needle pulling thread?" I've always seen it written out as "so," hence rhyming with "sew."
- DownIsTheNewUp, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3Digg effect already? That was quick.
- CBTF, on 10/11/2007, -4/+4Why do we have a new top 10 worst video games list every two months, guys? You'd think the jury would be out by now.
- Ayavaron, on 10/11/2007, -0/+21Moonwalker was actually good though. It shouldn't be on this list.
- stratmancj, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7hell yeah ... that game was awesome ... when michael turns into that giant robot and starts kickin' ass
- unicronband, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Agreed. The dance button that made all the enemies breakdance... ***** great.
- dragon76, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Moonwalker was one of the best games on Genesis and is still one of the best music games. I wish the arcade version had been released for a console, it was pretty awesome, too.
- PizzaMan99, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Moonwalker for Genesis kicks ass. When those kids say "Michael", it cracks me up every time.
- StormyAaron, on 10/11/2007, -1/+20Hey where is Superman 64? Generaly regarded as the second worse video game ever, with ET being first. :r
- KiSA, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4That one was not a takeoff of a movie though.
- Sewende, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Agreed. No Superman, no Digg.
- markperia, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Ive seen the DOA movie. Its ok. Just don't go into it expecting something epic or amazing or coherent at all. A beer or two (or 6) and a joint wouldn't hurt either.
- FeartheKnighted, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Uhh...All of them?
- mpn401, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Where's Back to the future 3 for the sega genesis? Boy, did that suck.
- cannibaljp, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1raiders of the lost ark for atari 2600 is the absoulte worst game that i ever played...
so bad, so very very very bad. - airencracken, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Jurassic Park for the SNES was terrible.
- SlamShut, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10Ze list, she is *****.
Half the games on the list are just arbitrary choices used to fill out a list of ten. Tomorrow Never Dies? Not awful, just mediocre. Yeah, it's not Goldeneye. We've heard that about every ***** Bond game for the last ten years. WE GET IT. GOLDENEYE was good.
And the other choices? Moonwalker? Yeah, it was nowhere near as good as the movie... wait... Moonwalker wasn't even a proper movie, was it? Another arbitrary, ***** selection. And Star Wars: Bounty Hunter? Again, mediocre, not awful.
***** this list. I don't think the guy who wrote this likes video games as much as he likes bitching like a little girl who missed her nap.- masonreloaded, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3yeah Bounty Hunter was crap, but there have been worse Star Wars games - Super Bombad Racing, Yoda Adventures, and the galactic conquest one whose name escapes me (Rebellion??)...
- adammharvey, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7ok im sorry but moonwalker was really fun game it was a hell of a lot better than ShaqFu!
and that is no where to be seen on any list well i guess it wasnt exactly a movie video game but still sucked large. - elchuy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11I agree, Moonwalker was good. I had fun playing that game.
- wiihateeveryone, on 10/11/2007, -6/+0Off the top of my head I cant actually think of a single decent movie based video game.
- thefish185, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8Goldeneye? Only one of the best games ever.
- crackedplastic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Discs of Tron was decent.
http://www.3gcs.com/tron/games/dotron/index.htm - GabeUtsecks, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Spider-Man 2 is quite good.
- rarson, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3The Lion King and Aladdin were both good games.
- thefish185, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2What a dumb list. Can anything thats in the form of a list make it onto the front page fo digg? Jaws was an alright game, I'm not gonna defend it but certainly not deserving to be on a list of top ten bad games. There are certainly worse games out there than those on that list. Burried as dumb.
- Fhwqhgads, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1You were buried as dumb too.
- 5555, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Ok list but dugg for the hilarious reviews. As a side note, the game "Back to the Future: II & III" for the NES was far worse than the original in my opinion. Completely bizarre with absolutely nothing to do with the movies.
- YuriSan, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Hey, Star Wars Bounty Hunter was a really good game.
- zlopez, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2LOL I remember playing Back to the Future on the NES. I'm glad I wasn't the only frustrated with that game and it's first level.
- kahlessreborn, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1What about some of the star trek games?
Some of them were pure crap while others are pure gold. - Lumiras, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12(In reference to Back to the Future)
"hit the NES console store shelves nearly a decade after the original theatrical release"
The game was made in 1989...the movie was in theaters in late 1985. This article's writer must have a very skewed perspective on what a decade actually is
...that, or he's a complete idiot. I'll let you decide - daveynin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Home Alone for SNES should be on list.
- jwalk81980, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1aah, beat me to it. Easily, Home Alone 2 is the worst game of all time. They didn't even bother to program the game right. You have two moves. 1.) Jump 2.) Duck. But when you get shot at you'll find that you're too tall to duck the bullets and too short to jump over them. WTF?!
- swordphish, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Wow. Is that the game with the rat king?
- Aliarse, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Name one really good movie > Game / Game > Movie out there and i promise I'll go out and buy it.
And no, resident evil isn't allowed.- spidoman, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11Chronicles of Riddick
James Bond: Everything or Nothing (ok wasn't actually a movie but still)
GoldenEye
LOTR: Return of the King
Jedi Knight 2 (although just the star wars universe so it may not count)
Spider-Man 2 (NOT 3)
Lion King
Aladdin - Arramol, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Hey, there are lots of great games based on movies! First off, there's Goldeneye. Then, there's....umm...errr...well, you could always play Goldeneye twice!
Edit: Well Spidoman made my comment completely pointless. In any case, I've noticed that the closer a Star Wars game ties in with one of the movies, the worse it is. The best ones are the ones that have almost nothing to do with the movies, like the Jedi Knight series, X-wing series, and Knights of the Old Republic. - farplaner, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3All the Lego Star Wars are really fun!
- spidoman, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1And Rogue Squadron, holy crap fun.
- spidoman, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11Chronicles of Riddick
- rushiku, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Where's "The Last Starfighter" for NES?
Also, why mention a movie based on a video game as a tie-in to your list of video games based on movies?
Isn't that akin to "I sure do hate Brussel Sprout Milkshakes, that's why I've made a list of my top ten favorite Banks"- SlamShut, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Rushiku, you just made me chuckle. Thanks for that.
- SlamShut, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Rushiku, you just made me chuckle. Thanks for that.
- IamF, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Come ON! The blues brothers games weren't all that bad.
http://users.pandora.be/mpq/software/screenshots/blues_brothers_2.gif - gerriediaz, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1how about... all of them
- TonyKay, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Dugg down for including moonwalker.
- limeaid, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I gotta stick up for Jaws - it was fun - not the worst game I ever played and the first person shark thing wasn't bad
Anyone play it and feel disappointed? - TwwIX, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1We need a ban for these "Top" whatever lists.
- TheArcadeFire, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Okay, major geek epiphany here, but when they show the screen for Tomorrow Never Dies.... isn't it actually a screen from Everything or Nothing?
I need to get out more... - siguy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I can't believe fight club wasn't on there
- funkydopeloven, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1/agree
- lukasmack, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0dead or alive the film is officialy the worst film i have ever seen. The twisted directer finds it necerserry to put as many women in bikinis in the films as possible. And there not even fit.
- BrainCoder, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1*Boobs* and *PG-13* can't live together.
- kuuhaku, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1The bikinis....or the girls?
(i hope the bikinis don't fit the fit girls)
- asgodwin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Friday the 13th for NES... awful.
- BrainCoder, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1These guys are noobs...
Evil Dead ATTK wasn't that bad ( I personally liked it because i love ED ), so SW Bounty Hunter ( it was a decent game ), Enter the Matrix was awful ( bad controls, bad graphics, bad game ) but playable for Matrix fans ( bullet time and martial arts are always fun ). I think these guys should play more retrogames instead of playing only that 3d crap. There are a lot of movie games that are worse ( Friday 13th, Platoon, Rocky etc ) - toxicityj, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1since when is bounty hunter a bad game?
- OP100, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Bill and Ted's Excellent Video Game Adventure for Nintendo that I won in a 1991 Butterfinger contest was so buggy it was impossible to finish. It could also give you seizures if you had epilepsy. There was actually a warning sticker on the game.
- ProfessorRiffs, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Moonwalker = Great game
Not including Bill & Ted for the NES = Not qualified to make this list - alexforcefive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Buried for "It moves clunky"
durrr you write clunky too - FyberOptic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Generic list. Everyone puts ET, but I doubt half of them have played it. It wasn't THAT bad. I owned the damn thing, I should know. There were plenty of worse games out there, both then and now.
- tyns, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I fully agree. I played ET quite a few times at my neighbours house. We finished it several times.. It wasn't that hard. All you had to do was eat reese pieces.. (to keep your energy up) ... then go find the parts for your telecommunications device.. I think there were 3 parts.. you then brought them back to eliots house to assemble. The parts where hidden in the wells. You had to push the fire button to extend your neck to float down the wells...
If i recall, you also had to avoid the scientists or they would capture you (or steal your reese's pieces??) and you had to wait for eliot to free you?
Then, when you built the device, you had a mothership count down where you had to find the screen where the landing was.. But in order to know the exact spot to stand in you had to ask gertie or something or extend your neck at a certain time..
It has been a long time, but the game was actually challenging and fun.. We played it for days on end..
I have played FAR worse games... E.T. would definitely not be on my list of bad games.. Sword Quest, earth, water, fire world... now those games were annoying.. Never did understand how to finish those...
Raiders of the Lost ark was cool on the 2600 as well.. Oh the memories... I remember Krull too! Oh, and vanguard ;)
- tyns, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I fully agree. I played ET quite a few times at my neighbours house. We finished it several times.. It wasn't that hard. All you had to do was eat reese pieces.. - robszol, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1 Back to the Future was kick ass! I dunno what this blogger was talking about...clearly he just didn't spend enough time perfecting the use of bowling balls in the game
- swordphish, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1A video game ultimately sucks if it meets 2 or more of the following criteria:
1) It is not an NES, SNES, or other console game from before 1995
2) It was purchased at McDonalds or Burger King.
3) It is based on a movie that is in theaters now, or coming to theaters soon.
4) It is based on a movie that was adapted from a comic-book.
5) It was developed in tandem with the movie that it is based on.
6) It's cover features the actors/stars in the movie that it is based on.
7) Bonus points if the producers of the film do more than cut checks to the developers of the game.- jedikv, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I believe Goldeneye meets criteria 1, 6 and 7 (not 3 as it was made after the movie)
- slapded, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1i loved the E.T. Game. I could even figure it out as a 4 year old. now swordquest, that was a BIG WTF
- sharpme, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Yeah...never got that one either. Did anyone out there ever beat it?
- jcardia, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0I love the Back to the Future movies but the games absolutely were god awful. I remember trying to play BTTF as a kid and being not only frustrated but absolutely pissed off on how much the movies were cool and how much the game just didn't carry that same spark. I spent 10 years playing that game on and off and finally i beat it to probably the worst ending of gaming history. Man did i feel like a loser...all that work for nothing.
- CurlyHayami, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1This is the worst list about the list of worst video games ever.
How is Bounty Hunter up there? And hey-Tomorrow Never Dies was a fun rental... - sportsfanrma, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0star wars bounty hunter was a great adventure game. it was very unique and the bounties made it replayable. would have dugg except for that. the clone wars game is horrible. should have put that instead.
- denniskayser, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0ROFL That's awesome! I've even played most of them and have to agree but when you're a kid you don't know better and all games can be somewhat entertaining. Or maybe not?
