- WootZoot, on 08/16/2008, -2/+30Im honestly surprised Eragon didn't make this list.
- ryan83189, on 08/16/2008, -2/+26No Spaceballs? I kid, I kid.
- TheMidnight, on 08/16/2008, -1/+21Prepare ship for light speed.
No no no, light speed is too slow.
Light speed too slow?
Yes, we're going to have to go right to...ludicrous speed!
[Finish it] - inactive, on 08/16/2008, -1/+15Ya, but I love Battle Beyond the Stars...
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 08/16/2008, -0/+11Oh, and if anyone thinks those trailers are real cheesy, here's the original trailer for Star Wars for comparison: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaHXIIyd8nM
- likwidtek, on 08/16/2008, -0/+9I dunno about you guys but some of those previews actually made me want to watch them.
- inactive, on 08/16/2008, -1/+9Dammit can't a guy masturbate in here?
- inactive, on 08/16/2008, -3/+11Battlestar Galactica, anybody? (The original series anyway)
- engwar, on 08/16/2008, -1/+8And that stupid Samurai film "The Hidden Fortress". OBVIOUSLY influenced in a major way by Star Wars. That Kurosawa was a friggin' hack!
- Calibas, on 08/16/2008, -3/+9Are we forgetting that Star Wars is just a Dune rip-off? Go read the books.
- picturestorm, on 08/16/2008, -0/+6I've never seen Saturn 3 and from that trailer I cant really see how its a "blatant star wars rip-off" like the article title indicates. The author then says "Admittedly, Saturn 3 was more influenced by Ridley Scott’s Alien than Obi-Wan or R2. " What a crappy article.
- Brandnaem, on 08/16/2008, -0/+5That's ridiculus, a lot of it is ripped from lotr too.
- zarvensha, on 08/16/2008, -0/+5Battle Beyond The Stars!
Roger Corman at his cheap ass finest.
John Saxon the perfectly ridiculous villian, George Peppard the old cowboy, the assasin buried with a good meal.
Seven Samuari rip offs never got better.
Now how do I digg you up 50 times? - Shiftgood, on 08/16/2008, -3/+8did anyone even go see the new one? Whats the target market for that? Kids 8 - 12 that were around in the 1970s and magically... i dunno... you get what im saying...
- TheMidnight, on 08/16/2008, -0/+5Give me that you petty excuse for an officer!
Now hear this, LUDICROUS SPEED!
Sir, hadn't you better buckle up?
Ah, buckle this! LUDICROUS SPEED, GO! - panpizza15, on 08/16/2008, -0/+4Where the hell is Eragon and Transformers aniamted movie? If you don't understand why Eragon should be counted, watch this video to explane it to you...

1. Battle Beyond the Stars - jstem1994, on 08/16/2008, -0/+4Look 4 comments above. Apparently not.
- WinnemuccaMac, on 08/16/2008, -0/+3Am I the only one who thinks that the ship from Starchaser looks A LOT like Serenity from Firefly? Cokckpit on a "dragon" neck, two swivel-mounted engines with vertical take off and landing, and a big engine on the "butt"? Paint it gold and give it a few more polygons and it's a dead ringer.
- doctordbx, on 08/16/2008, -0/+3That has to be the most blatant star wars knock off ever!
- inactive, on 08/16/2008, -1/+4Me too. And just getting back from that 1 hour and 38 minute entirely derivative suck fest, I have more fond memories of Battle Beyond the Stars than I do the main one, which is dead to me now, and I will no longer say its name.
- inactive, on 08/16/2008, -0/+3Dugg for Old Bob.
- TheMachine1, on 08/16/2008, -0/+3The Black Hole was pretty cool.
- tenspeedogbb, on 08/16/2008, -0/+3They've gone plaid....
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 08/16/2008, -1/+3I loved hearing all the sound effects they pulled from Star Trek in those.
- dnields, on 08/17/2008, -0/+2I have read the book, actually.
H.G. Wells died in 1946. This movie was made in the 1979. Something tells me that he wasn't paid all that much for the movie's use of the title 33 years after he died.
When the movie "Things to Come" came out in 1936 though, he was paid for that... seeing that he actually wrote the screenplay and it was only 3 years after he wrote the novel.
This sci-fi movie has nothing to do with the original book at all. - jnordb, on 08/16/2008, -0/+2I soo remember watching Battle Beyond the Stars when it was aired on TV and I was probably in the 3rd or 4th grade....even then I knew it was a pathetic ripoff of Star Wars....but if memory serves me correctly, George Peppard's character had some kid of utility belt that looked like one of those change-dispensing belts that roller-skating drive-in waitresses used to wear / use, only his dispensed scotch and soda....wish I had one of those belts....
- insinuate, on 08/16/2008, -1/+3you listen to either one of those ***** bands?
- tenspeedogbb, on 08/16/2008, -0/+2It angers me that they disqualified the Turkish Star Wars...it's the only ripoff blatant enough to nonchalantly steal footage from the films.
- doctordbx, on 08/16/2008, -0/+2Yes it was!
- inactive, on 08/16/2008, -1/+3Because you're 30 years too young?
- doctordbx, on 08/16/2008, -0/+2Yeah true enough, if even for nostalgias sake.
- DrSnugglebunny, on 08/16/2008, -0/+2Yes and Alien had a long dramatic shot of the Nostromo spacecraft near the beginning, too.
- Neiby, on 08/16/2008, -0/+2Battle Beyond The Stars had a space ship with boobs. How can you forget that? I will never forget that ship. I pretty much forgot the rest of the movie, but I won't forget the ship.
- mousky, on 08/16/2008, -1/+2We are talking about movies not books ass clown.
- mccalli, on 08/16/2008, -0/+1You know the Star Trek effects are mostly stock effects right? They're not original - the photon torpedoes for example are taken from the 50s War of the Worlds.
- ragingflamerboy, on 08/16/2008, -0/+1so THAT'S WHY eragon sucked so ***** hard then!
- shadowman99, on 08/16/2008, -0/+1Topless Robot Sucks. I'm sick of their endless spamming.
- Jhiaxuz, on 08/16/2008, -0/+1Bear in mind that Ridley Scott was influenced by George Lucas and many other scifi creators as well.
"Conrad's novel Nostromo gives its name to the ship. The shuttle Narcissus takes its name from the novella The ***** of the 'Narcissus'. (The Colonial Marine ship in Aliens, the Sulaco, echoes the name of a town in the novel Nostromo as a continuation of this homage.)" - inactive, on 08/16/2008, -0/+1Roger Corman is always at his cheap ass and profitable finest.
- mudfly, on 08/16/2008, -0/+1Hardware Wars, You'll Laugh, You'll Cry, You'll kiss Three Bucks Good Bye!
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=-YytWxrGVKE - GlitchEnzo, on 08/16/2008, -0/+1I was interested in Starchaser after reading this article so I downloaded it and watched it. I completely agree with you. The whole time I was watching I was thinking about how the Starchaser looks just like Serenity.
- Equinox2012, on 08/16/2008, -0/+1I own Star Crash and Galaxina. Star Crash has a yet to be discovered David Hasselhoff with blue eye shadow.
Hot! - joshmoney, on 08/16/2008, -0/+1Wow! "Message from Space" even completely stole the first few notes of the one of the Star Wars melodies, just took out some of doubled 1/8 notes and put in 1/4's. anyone else catch this?
- boozedrinker, on 08/16/2008, -0/+1We've went straight to....PLAID?
- tewstep, on 08/16/2008, -0/+1Biggest "Lord Of The Rings" rip-off = Star Wars
- SirBruce, on 08/16/2008, -0/+1Battle Beyond the Stars was probably the WORST movie I ever actually paid to see in the theatre. It was really hyped as the next Star Wars and a whole gang of us went in with high expectations.
- bubba9999, on 08/16/2008, -0/+1It's because there were Orcs around.
- jstem1994, on 08/16/2008, -0/+1You mean Star Wars was real??
