- abbrevertal7, on 06/03/2008, -14/+156This is the best compilation EVER ! AND ITS ALL IN ONE PAGE !
- EatingPie, on 06/04/2008, -7/+130Two things make this list stand out...
1) The comments saying *why* he thought the posters were good.
2) All on one page (previously mentioned).
This is why I read Digg... nice breath of fresh air cutting through all the political crap.
-Pie - JoCoProductions, on 06/04/2008, -16/+129I love how the 40 year old virgin is number 69.

http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/pic/adc/1 ... - SeaweedWater, on 06/03/2008, -2/+29I saw that (Big Number Here) times!!
- stringerbell, on 06/04/2008, -3/+22Now, I collect old movie posters - and the author of this piece doesn't know the first thing about movie posters! How do I know? Because about 10 of his top 100 posters aren't even the nicest looking poster FOR THAT FILM!... Every time this very same article gets popular again, and back on the front page of Digg/Reddit, all the real movie poster collectors start thrashing the amateurish attempt (by an author who obviously doesn't know what he's talking about) at a top 100 list on the movie poster message boards. Last time was about a year ago, if I remember...
- cerealjynx, on 06/04/2008, -3/+19Hi-res or gtfo
- Yibbon, on 06/04/2008, -0/+14He worked it out, ads.
- KnifeOrSpoon, on 06/04/2008, -0/+14HAHA, the first word I came up with was 'jerked off'
Perhaps I am going to the wrong films and the wrong cinemas. - inactive, on 06/03/2008, -8/+21Little Miss Sunshine?
- Diggzyx, on 06/04/2008, -1/+13Not sure what's so original or great or memorable about The English Patient poster
- inactive, on 06/03/2008, -2/+14I totally (Insert gratuitous verb here) through that film several times!
- protonone, on 06/04/2008, -3/+14There are so many better posters out there that are now icons. To put something like the Forty Year Old Virgin on there because he has a funny face is about the most asinine thing I can think of. Dugg down for stupidity.
- Pssdoff, on 06/04/2008, -0/+11Its missing the Aqua Teen Hunger Force Movie poster.
http://bostonist.com/attachments/boston_caroline/0 ... - cyberwiz01, on 06/03/2008, -2/+13That movie was awesome!!!
- getrealnow, on 06/04/2008, -1/+11what about WHY SO SERIOUS
- eeinw, on 06/04/2008, -1/+11Dude the book, (insert obscure book title here, for pompous internet cred) was so much better.
- psyberjay, on 06/04/2008, -0/+10Where's Pink Floyd's The Wall??
- mbonzo531, on 06/04/2008, -2/+11You forgot ?????
- KingGorilla, on 06/04/2008, -0/+9I agree with everything in this comment except the last thing about the pie
- elambing, on 06/04/2008, -4/+12i like the new batman poster too
- HiroOfShadows, on 06/04/2008, -0/+8Am I the only one that doesn't see a #100?
- dyckdownunder, on 06/04/2008, -1/+9Although (Insert Movie Title Here) was good, I don't know why they had make its sequel (Movie Title revised with Two in it)
- minnymoo, on 06/03/2008, -0/+8i just got panda roll'd.
- Gishnak, on 06/04/2008, -0/+7As many people have said previously, this list is very mediocre at best. I can understand missing some really fantastic posters. Perhaps the author forgot them, or had not seen them, etc.
But some of the posters he chose were not at all clever or particularly interesting.
He described what he was aiming for:
"A great movie poster is a hard thing to find. Most posters are cut and paste jobs that don't sell the movie very well at all. A great poster should intrigue, shock, inspire & excite. It should be aesthetically beautiful or original. Above all, it should be so memorable that a single glance will be instantly recognizable."
Titanic.
"Without question, this poster must be considered one of the most instantly recognizable in history. Two gorgeous stars and the bow of the tragic ship."
How is this poster at all intriguing, shocking, or inspiring? Aesthetically beautiful or original? Perhaps it is very memorable, but this is because the movie itself is memorable, not this poster. Any titanic poster would fit this bill.
My favorite is Collateral:
"The intensity of Tom Cruise's heavily stubbled face is very memorable."
This list needs revision and less namedropping. - kmckanna, on 06/04/2008, -3/+10I am ALL for Truman Show, such a good movie.
- inactive, on 06/03/2008, -4/+11No Drew Struzan?
- RobotKeaton, on 06/04/2008, -2/+9I don't like how the original Star Wars poster isn't on there. Not one bit.
- soupdawg30, on 06/04/2008, -0/+6I always thought it was Carrey's best movie.
- DrewG7, on 06/04/2008, -3/+9Incredible...what a great list, good mix of old, foreign art house (Renoir's The Rules of the Game), to torture porn (Captivity), to instant classics (Casablanca) to indies (Gerry).
Fantastic! - xxbrighteyed, on 06/04/2008, -2/+8Something very suss is going on here
That list was poorly written, the selections were terrible, the images lo-res and the page layout ugly - tomwhughes, on 06/04/2008, -0/+5I couldn't agree more - we need to see more quality content like this on digg!
- PhilThePhenom, on 06/04/2008, -5/+10The Exorcist at number 81??? No Godfather, French Connection, or original trilogy? How about "You will believe a man can fly" or "It's terrific!"?
Obviously a list compiled by an ex-film student with little frame of reference.
And the Casablanca one is only great with respect to it's place in film history. I doubt anyone has watched it based on the poster. It does little to translate the greatness of the film. - captoftheworld, on 06/04/2008, -0/+5Why would you need proof for that?
- lharrod, on 06/04/2008, -0/+5At least all the posters were on one page. If it really was just about the ad revenue, he would have put ten posters each on ten pages, forcing you to click to new pages to see the whole list (as is the case with most 'top' lists).
- donkz, on 06/04/2008, -1/+6when i was growing up, terminator 1/2 poster was a must
- str1fe, on 06/04/2008, -3/+7No way, (Insert Obscure Indie Movie) was so much better, and the poster art was amazing.
- louiemantia, on 06/04/2008, -0/+4No joke. Not a single one. Struzan has created some of the best art for movie posters, and considering they're not just photo manipulations, rather drawings and paintings, make it all the better.
- mbonzo531, on 06/04/2008, -2/+6Almost Famous and The Wall have my favorite movie posters.

Forbidden Planet!
http://www.allposters.com/gallery.asp?startat=/get ... - punkcat, on 06/04/2008, -0/+4he only did 99
- jake86, on 06/04/2008, -2/+6I'm so glad the author didn't overlook foreign films.
- cnot3, on 06/04/2008, -0/+4I agree that it is a classic. But our love of the film could make the poster seem more awesome than it is. However, the list did include a poster for Episode I and including anything associated with that steaming pile of *****, but failing to recognize the greatness of the original trilogy, makes it a pretty ***** list in my book.
- SlapAyoda, on 06/04/2008, -5/+9100 movie posters on one page (not hotlinked), and the site isn't slashdotted/digg affected? Amazing. Oh wait, they're all 160x240.
