- treelovinhippie, on 10/10/2007, -4/+68Come on... unless they can bring back Arnold, this movie franchise is OVER.
- CaptainNoPants, on 10/10/2007, -3/+44"The script is being written by Michael Ferris and John D. Brancato, who co-wrote Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines..."
Next! - chris9902, on 10/10/2007, -1/+32If it isn't set during the war you see at the start of T2 then there's no point. How cool would a Robot war be. Like Transformers vs Gears of War.
- Morwynd, on 10/10/2007, -3/+27Wow... guess I'm the only one who enjoyed T3 and am interested to see where they take the story next.
No, T3 was not as good as the first two. You can't beat James Cameron at his own game, there's no shame in that.
That being said, I think they did a decent job storywise. For example, they resolved the time-travel paradox created in the first two... how did John Connor ORIGINALLY (ie, before any time travelling robots literally propelled him towards that path) become the leader of the resistance?
T3 answered this... John Connor was involved with the daughter of the man in charge of SkyNet. That was his *original* connection, and a plausible explanation for how he became embroiled in all of this the first time, *before* any killer robots from the future were sent after him. That's a question I always wanted an answer to.
That, some good action pieces (the big truck chase sequence was great) and they didn't do another "yay we stopped the war" ending like the first two, they took it somewhere new and ambitious. It could've been a far, FAR worse sequel to a Cameron movie *cough*Alien 3*cough*.
I don't see a new Terminator film as "another sequel", I see it as the start of a brand new story exploring the actual war itself, and I think there's great potential in that. I do hope they find someone better to play Connor though... Stahl comes across as a bit of a wimp. Furlong was far better (in his debut role, no less) at only 14. According to IMDB, Furlong is "rumored" to be involved in T4. Hope so. - senorcool, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15Buried because for a split second I thought Arnold would be in it. Now I'm sad.
- Asianwaste, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14The only way Terminator 4 can be any good is if the whole plot revolves around making the events of Terminator 3 not exist.
- timusca, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Weren't they talking at one point about doing a CGI Arnold? They were going to take tousands of photos of his face and put it on a CGI body, so it would apparently look very real as though he was in it... and I recall Arnold giving the OK.
- kaytrio, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Are you ***** kidding me...? is the rock really the star? God help us all.
- spikes, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10Terminator 3 felt like one of those made for TV "B" movies.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8The point is the role doesn't require a good actor - just a stiff, robotic, muscle man.
- MemoryDump, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10it's all about milking the franchise until it's worth absolutely nothing
- Sle3per, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7"3ed"?
- bpapa, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8I don't really see the point of it. I didn't HATE Terminator 3, but I can't recall a single thing from it (other than Loken nekkid) and it wasn't bad but it didn't do the first two films justice.
However it sounds like they might have realized that, and instead of another John Connor story they'll do something else. The jury's out I guess. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6but even crappier acting.
- h4mx0r, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6with a slightly higher budget.
- ashwinmudigonda, on 10/10/2007, -4/+10Start a campaign and stop this madness. T2 was the best sequel and the best sci-fi movie ever to be made. T3 undid all of that. How many sequels, threequels, quadriquels does it take? Is this like Schick and Gillette's game of releasing one more extra blade to convince the retard that mach 3 is better than mach 2? STOP IT! Make a pledge not see T4, shrek 4, pirates 5, ice age 3 and send Hollywood a message! please/.
- theworldisflat, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7If they're going to do a PURE new line set in the resistance era, then there won't be a problem. No Arnold, no problem.
- techobo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5AFAIK Arnold sold his likeness to the franchise, so you will probably be seeing him... at least a CG version.
- phronq, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5IMHO, anything after T2 is not Canon. Except maybe the thrill ride.
Say what you will about James Cameron but T3 without him was a total letdown and shat all over the entire point of T2. - ButchersBoy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I agree but I'm digging you down for not being old enough to remember how awesome T1 was, and that was where we first saw the 'war'.
- fino35, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Please let this one be set in the future.
- Tinendo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I thought this is T4 ... http://img.aktualne.centrum.cz/70/75/707533-arnold ...
- BuddyDoQ, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4He was sorta killed off in... all the movies! You sir need to review the classics. I'll bring the popcorn.
- senfo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4If they do bring John Connor back, I just hope he isn't the little bitch he was in the 3rd movie.
- DJNewStyle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4That phrase jumped the shark in 1999.
- krakelohm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Yea it worked great for Alien VS predator right... right...?
- sgvprelude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4What they need to do is make T4 take place during the robot wars, and have another robot from an even further distant future like a T6969 played by some outrageously hot model assassinate John Conners by giving him some kind of incurable STD.
- warriorscot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I would like to see some stuff about the actual terminator wars it would be pretty good.
- namlu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3why Jamie Foxx exactly?
- KrazyA1pha, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3They'll just blame it on piracy.
- Hostile17, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I knew it'd be back.
Too obvious? - ButchersBoy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Alien 3, T3. Average. Alien 4. T4??? Get a grip. Hollywood can't and wont make action movies like they used to. They just wanna slap 12 certificates and ***** one liners all over everything, and I wouldn't be suprised if the likes of Universal and Fox are behind obscene popcorn prices at the cinema. I love movies, I really do, but big budget sci-fi is in a suck-ass era.
- gfnw, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Sci-Fi geeks? What are you 12? It's the ***** Terminator! It's a man's duty to care about this!
- revenz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2just use the rock, hes pretty much the new arnold (as seen in be cool, well i think it was be cool)
- Matsky, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2None of that would even slightly affect a Terminator. What the ***** have you been watching?
- MOJIRA, on 05/17/2008, -0/+2Agreed. And this way they can bring back Arnold a thousand times over. Have him infiltrate into the human camp (that's what the T1000's did, right?). Then you can have John Conner send his second in command back in time (the dude from T1) then maybe have the movie end on John Conner sending the first T1000 back or something.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I hate it already. I also hate T5, T6, and T7 when they get made.
- Dragular, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2This is the Ultimate Showdown, of Ultimate Destiny...
- Gumby_Mac, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2If this is going to be about Sarah Conner, they'd better make her CGI. Women don't seem to age as well as men and Arnold was certainly showing his age in T3.
- DJNewStyle, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Good insight. I enjoyed T3 as well and thought the storyline worked quite well.
- CaptainNoPants, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I liked transformers. michael bay didn't ***** it up to the point where i continue to curse him months after the fact.
- cfuse, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1What would make for a really nice change, would be to tell the story from the perspective of skynet. It would be nice to explore the character - rather than just do the same old 'smart machines want us dead for no good reason'.
- RyanHCO, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Dude, Alien 3 is the *****. Similar to your views on the new T4, I dont see the Alien sequels as sequels to the original except that they have the main character and the main baddie. Other than that, each is completely different from the other.
Cameron is great, but his movies have a familial quality to me because, in part, he uses all the same actors (Michael Beihn, the chick that plays John Connor's foster mother). Ridley was the king of suspense in the first Alien film, Cameron took it to mass genocide (sort of) and David Fincher (one of my favorite directors and my favorite Alien film) mastered the use of the absence of light and a claustrophobic fear.
The 4th film was a little off, but that French director always does ***** that way. Same actors too. :) - Promantarius, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Wasn't the guy in charge of SkyNet in T3 only in charge because they destroyed the lab of the other dudes in T2 and the guy who was in charge of researching the robot from T1, which was a direct result of intervention by future robots? Maybe I didn't pay enough attention :/
- blogosphear, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4Man if only James Cameron directed Transformers....
- Matsky, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1My question to that is: why the ***** did the terminator say "I'll be back". That just ruined any small bit of credibility the film had left. I literally stopped paying attention after that.
- FLLawLibrarian, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Alien 5 rumors... isn't Sigorney Weaver just a bit old to be playing Ripley anymore??? Apparently she is the one pushing for #5...
- DangerMouse9, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1yeah, along with "BURNINATED!"
- h4mx0r, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2or just a theatrical version of Aliens vs Predator vs Terminator... starring Bill Paxton. Eh... Scrap it.
