- BigPapi, on 10/16/2008, -3/+30Screw this guy. The Dawn of the Dead remake was awesome.
- Hetman, on 10/16/2008, -8/+27This article is an epic fail. Except for blair witch project wich blew.
- babylonian, on 10/17/2008, -2/+18"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH" is almost literally how this read.
- JamesPDX, on 10/16/2008, -5/+18What! This guy is totally off base, except as noted Blair Witch.
Buried... - inactive, on 10/16/2008, -2/+14Ouch!!: "Other than the oft-quoted Jack and a few stunning bits of cinematography, there’s not really anything to justify the horror masterwork label given this film by some." The Shining is overrated??
So, I guess a really good horror movie should be poorly shot without any standout performances at all? Normally, those are the horror films that I completely forget. - kmesp86, on 10/17/2008, -1/+1210. Doom

- dampeal, on 10/17/2008, -1/+10Overrated by who exactly? that guy?
- inactive, on 10/17/2008, -1/+9WTF? The Shining and The Birds are two awesome movies. Hellraiser, Friday the 13th and Re-Animator are quite good horror movies. The Sixth Sense is not really a horror movie, Scream is quite interesting as well as the Blair Witch Project and Grindhouse (Death Proof is not a horror movie also) is above all fun to watch especially Planet Terror.
BURY. This guy sucks terrible. - AbsurdWreckage, on 10/17/2008, -1/+9Buried because of epic fail.
- krekc, on 10/16/2008, -3/+11Buried for spelling Jason Voorhees wrong.
- kmoed, on 10/17/2008, -1/+8The person that created that list is a retard. They should stick to disney movies.
- MrChunks, on 10/17/2008, -1/+8Saw was a great movie. Saw 2 bordered on being a very good movie. Saw 3 was ass monkeys and totally ruined the first two for me. Saw 4 can go ***** itself if it thinks I'm going to go see it.
- vegx, on 10/17/2008, -2/+8I don't really consider The Sixth Sense a horror movie
- palewook, on 10/17/2008, -0/+5agreed. most of the films on his list are great. people that watch lifetime shouldn't write articles about horror films..
- MUSTACHEofGOD, on 10/17/2008, -2/+7I'd like to see his list of top 10 horror movies.
- amoirae, on 10/17/2008, -1/+6Except for his critique of the Blair Witch Project the article was idiotic, pretentious tripe.
His punishment involves a cenobite, a pipe cleaner, and that writer's urethra. - quigles3000, on 10/17/2008, -1/+6"I didn't like this movie as much as everyone else, therefore everyone else is wrong."
- Sabretou, on 10/17/2008, -0/+4And how are you going to get out, genius?
- kinship, on 10/17/2008, -1/+5to be fair, people back then screamed in the cinemas when the flying monkeys came on screen in the wizard of oz
- MrSparkle666, on 10/17/2008, -1/+5You DO NOT ***** with The Shining! EPIC FAIL
- inactive, on 10/16/2008, -0/+3Right, I remember when King brought up this argument back when it was released. I actually ended up reading the book shortly after wards to see the differences. And to me, they are both (book & movie) great in their own right.
From what I understand, King has finally seen the light with the film and has learned to appreciate it. I don't think that would've happened if the film was really overrated. - DetpackJump, on 10/17/2008, -0/+3The strong point of Hellraiser is not necessarily the film, but the mythology of the film.
- inactive, on 10/17/2008, -1/+4I wonder what his standards are for a good horror film then?
- inactive, on 10/17/2008, -1/+4This site is going nowhere fast with these--to borrow a word--unbelievably ***** articles.
- MetalFrog, on 10/17/2008, -0/+2I wouldn't want to read anything else this clown puts together.
- DetpackJump, on 10/17/2008, -1/+3In an event of cosmic irony, the first movie on the author's most -underrated- movies (link in article) is Suspiria, which is,in fact, the most overrated horror movie ever. Even though he does give a nod to Candyman, it's painfully obvious that this guy is trying to win some clique points with a non-existent "too cool for school" critic crowd.
- inactive, on 10/17/2008, -1/+3This guy probably thought "Quarantine" was AMAZING.
- LisiBee, on 10/16/2008, -0/+2Oh, but The Shining has Scatman Crothers, which will forever make it okay in my book. :D
- grungegbunny, on 10/17/2008, -1/+3Don't diss Re-animator.
- playuhh, on 10/17/2008, -3/+5This is an Unbelievably
Overrated List of Horror Movies.
frontpage? seriously? this "***** list"
trend NEEDS TO STOP. NOWWW. - sancho, on 10/18/2008, -0/+2Saw 4 came out last year, and it actually somewhat redeemed Saw 3 (it's closely coupled that that film, almost as if they were meant to be watched together.)
- occasus, on 10/17/2008, -1/+3I can count the number of good horror movies I've seen on one hand, and a few of them are on this list.
- Rollic, on 10/16/2008, -1/+2Dude, the thing about The Shining is - which even Stephen King has complained about - is that Jack goes CRAZY at the drop of a ***** hat. There's no transformation. One minute he's OK, the next "Here's Johnny!"
Granted, King's ***** Shining miniseries was a lot worse than Kubrick's film, but The Shining still has a thin-ass story and crazy over-the-top performances. - Pegritz, on 10/17/2008, -1/+2Bull. *****. *****. Mind you, I'm not about to say that the Blair Witch Project is one of the finest films ever made--it's not--but it *was* revolutionary in its own way. It prettymuch defined a particular film style--the laughably-(and-inaccurately)-named "shakycam" approach--that is now becoming common in a lot of big-budget films, and singlehandedly launched the concept of the ARG.
But anyone who dares to say that Hellraiser was anything less that revolutionary needs to visit Leviathan's labyrinth. - mrseptic, on 10/17/2008, -0/+1These are the same morons that think Session 9 is underrated. Buried.
http://www.movieretriever.com/blog/editors/145/Ten ... - john570, on 10/20/2008, -0/+1All of them
- RobotBuddha, on 11/14/2008, -0/+1I'm always shocked when people list suspiria as good. Like I'd just imagined anyone could feel that way.
- doubl3d, on 10/17/2008, -1/+2Look at me i am cool because i say these good movies suck.
- john570, on 10/17/2008, -1/+2Friday The 13th is not a horror film. Its a brainless slasher film.
- RobotBuddha, on 11/14/2008, -0/+1I hate when people speak well of saw 4 while damning saw 3. It almost, almost, makes me want to see the fourth one.
- purzzzell, on 10/17/2008, -0/+1the first one?
- aladrin, on 10/17/2008, -0/+1lol I've got a couple coworkers that thought Quarantine was great. I got halfway through and almost walked out... But I stayed just to be able to tell them just exactly what I thought of the whole movie.
- inactive, on 10/17/2008, -1/+2Terrible list..
- grungegbunny, on 10/17/2008, -1/+2*Witch
- jcroweall7, on 10/17/2008, -0/+1I don't think he got confused; I think he might be just a n00b to the horror genre. I'd add Suspiria to the "Underrated? Really?" category, since I'm pretty sure most horror fans know that movie (and Argento) is brilliant.
- josephbloseph, on 10/17/2008, -0/+1*blew harder than any movie before or since
- josephbloseph, on 10/17/2008, -0/+1Zombies eating flesh.
- belebih, on 10/17/2008, -1/+2"Ever wonder if that classic horror film you love so much is worthy of your attention?"
No, because if I love it, who gives a ***** if you or anyone else thinks it's *****? If my opinion of a movie is gonna change, it'll be of my own accord, not cause of someone's attempt to make having ***** taste cool and hip. - JustinPM, on 10/17/2008, -0/+1I would agree on Session 9 being underrated, but then I'd have to put a nod toward something David Caruso did.
And I
Won't do that.
(Puts on sun glasses)
I think you know where I'm going with this. -
