- bjenidles, on 08/27/2008, -6/+155Dark City should be on there.

- eyepatch100, on 08/27/2008, -4/+80Twelve Monkeys?
- Enfenestrate, on 08/27/2008, -1/+72Tron is underrated?
- leuksho, on 08/27/2008, -5/+55Gattaca was by far one of my favorite sci-fi flicks during the past few years. Loved the style and its approach towards genetic engineering. It really stood out during that time.

- OzzieAlThor, on 08/27/2008, -5/+45"The Last Starfighter"? Hello?
- electricwaffles, on 08/27/2008, -35/+71It said "underrated," not "*****."
- Scopitone, on 08/27/2008, -0/+35Glad Primer is on there as it's literally the first one that came to mind.
- Disregard, on 08/27/2008, -12/+43No Event Horizon? Every one I know slated that but I thought it was pretty awesome.
- W00DR0W, on 08/27/2008, -7/+36It's hard trusting the opinion of someone who liked Aeon Flux.
- jotux, on 08/27/2008, -3/+31I wouldn't call Fifth Element "underrated," so I wouldn't expect to see it on this list.
- AshamedAmerican, on 08/27/2008, -17/+45No "Cube" ? ***** this list.
- voyetra8, on 08/27/2008, -0/+26Primer is phenomenal. Really, one of the best sci-fi films I have ever seen. The trailer posted there is fairly odd though- to me, it has nothing to do with the premise of the film.
Do yourself a favor. If you have any interest in sci-fi at all, rent it. I can't praise it enough. - shutaro, on 08/27/2008, -2/+28The Fifth Element had anything you could ever want from a movie! Flying cars, food pills, explosions, shiny things, blue women... what's-her-face... Egypt... that guy from the Jackie Chan movies... Auto-wash. Boom.
- ulmedas, on 08/27/2008, -0/+24I really have trouble imagining that The Fifth Element was underrated. If you happen to catch TNT at the right time you could see it like 17 times in a row.
MMMmmm....Event Horizon...horror Sci-Fi....tasty.... - lordtyros, on 08/27/2008, -2/+26Ultraviolet
just kidding. - felixnm, on 08/27/2008, -1/+25I really liked Gattaca. The only thing I didn't understand is how everyone, I mean everyone, could mistake Ethan Hawke for Jude Law during the identity checks. You'd think that high resolution screens would be commonplace in the future.
- orangederange, on 08/27/2008, -1/+24saw enemy mine on tv, Louise Gosset Jr and his alien voice was great! grrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!
- Ramble, on 08/27/2008, -0/+23The Core?
I kid, I kid. - doctechnical, on 08/27/2008, -1/+22Please note that overall I really liked Equilibrium, but you have to admit it's plot elements are highly derivative of other dystopian future stories - in the first 20 minutes alone you've got "Brave New World", "Fahrenheit 411" and "1984".
- Albumen, on 08/27/2008, -3/+23The Fifth Element is hardly underrated. It's a cult classic.
- brokenworlds, on 08/27/2008, -1/+21I prefer that Dark City isnt as big as the matrix cos we'd get some ***** like Dark City Reloaded
- Sk8erstich, on 08/27/2008, -0/+19I loved Gattaca.
It was an awesome movie! - Diggnabbit, on 08/27/2008, -14/+33You were crazy.
Aeon Flux sucked. - speel, on 08/27/2008, -3/+21Even tho this is not a sci fi movie but the movie Idiocracy is severely underrated.
- Jonh, on 08/27/2008, -2/+20A Boy And His Dog is not really underrated, just obscure. I guess i'll have to find the ones I didn't saw. Great list.
- voyetra8, on 08/27/2008, -2/+20Gattaca is amazing. Can you believe it lost the Oscar for Best Art Direction to ***** Titanic?
Criminal. - wyldstallyns, on 08/27/2008, -1/+18Amen. And the new director's cut is fantastic if you haven't seen it. It's a must-own.
- ScientistBlah, on 08/27/2008, -0/+16Dugg for Gattaca.
- Rollic, on 08/27/2008, -0/+16I'm a big fan of the Gosset gargle voice, I have to admit.
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -2/+17It was the movie that desperatly wanted to be loved.
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -0/+15Primer was one of the strangest movies I've ever seen. There are several points at which you feel like you understand it and then a few minutes later something completely weird happens.
Also: it was Lou Gosset Jr.'s performance in Enemy Mine that prompted the VALVe team to hire him to do the Vortigaunts' voices in Half-Life 2.
/trivia - inactive, on 08/27/2008, -2/+16"Brazil", anyone??
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -1/+14It is not underrated.

- scattass, on 08/27/2008, -11/+23I thought I was crazy for thinking Aeon Flux the movie was halfway decent. Glad to see that someone agrees.
- jordanlgta, on 08/27/2008, -0/+12Flight of the Navigator
- petebot, on 08/27/2008, -0/+11Actually, that kind of is sci-fi movie. One might say it's more of a sci fi movie than a comedy. Zing!
- EtherGnat, on 08/27/2008, -1/+12I had to watch it, read about it on the Internet, and then watch it again. It really is a great movie, but it requires some work.
- doctechnical, on 08/27/2008, -1/+12I agree with *most* of the list (Aeon Flux? I want a hit of the acid you took that made you think this was a good movie), but "Forbidden Planet" really, really deserves to be on it. Given it was made in 1957 (yes, before Even I! was born...) the special effects are killer (it didn't hurt they had Disney animators on the SFX team), the plot was written for adults instead of 12 year olds... and it's a ripping good yarn. If you haven't seen it, you really should. And if you haven't seen it in fullscreen, you haven't really seen it. Even the soundtrack is was cutting edge, Bebe and Luis Barron actually invented their own instruments. Yeah, a little bit of it is dated... "Kiss? What's that?"... just look past it.
"Prepare your minds for a new scale of physical scientific values, gentlemen."
Check it out. - LemonChicken, on 08/27/2008, -3/+14I was hoping someone would catch that.
- petebot, on 08/27/2008, -2/+13Oh man, I made my girlfriend watch that because I remembered it from my childhood. Wow, was it bad. Really bad. Stupid bad.
- Thekirby45, on 08/27/2008, -1/+12No battlefield earth no digg!!!!!
ok I kid but ***** Aeon Flux? - W00DR0W, on 08/27/2008, -1/+12I'm glad I didn't see it before watching the Matrix trilogy, you appreciate them a lot less after seeing how much they copied this movie.
