- inactive, on 03/13/2008, -2/+77no matter where you stand on the war, you should watch this.
- daFilms, on 03/13/2008, -1/+51FYI this won an Oscar for Best Documentary.
More importantly, if you ever wondered where the Administration got its source for the Iraq/Saddam Hussein and al-Qaeda link follow the story of Ibn al-Shaykh al-Libi... he's the one that stated the connection while under the hands of the CIA; hands of torture... [~01:02:00 -- several mins]
Also worthy of a view (and it's online for free).

- neocr0n, on 03/14/2008, -2/+16This is a very good documentary, saw it when it aired on BBC. If you don't have time to watch it now its worth bookmarking for later.
- swrostmore, on 03/14/2008, -1/+14What made you think "An in-depth look at the torture practices of the United States" would be safe for work?

- neocr0n, on 03/14/2008, -1/+13BBC rarely claim copyright on anything google videos and even on youtube, some Horizon docs have been on googlevideos for months maybe more. Public funded, they don't profit from adverts, regardless of how many people watch BBC they still get paid so I don't think they care as much as most networks.
- inactive, on 03/13/2008, -4/+15Is it your contention that we should abandon all of our principles? We need to be WORSE than everyone else to succeed in being a free and just country?
- Falloutinside, on 03/14/2008, -5/+14Amazing movie
- greekgoat91, on 03/14/2008, -1/+10good to see that you're being productive
- WindWithMe, on 03/14/2008, -1/+10STFU,you're supposed to be working. Worthless fool.
- SLuM, on 03/14/2008, -3/+11Emotions fill me with rage and I see ~300 million people doing nothing and going about their day being greedy and selfish while millions of people suffer because of their willingness to tolerate and support terrorism. Yes I am talking about US citizens being completely oblivious paying the taxes to criminal thugs and not throwing out the administrations over the last 5 decades that have plagued the world.
- skunkman62, on 03/14/2008, -5/+13"worst holocausts since the Holocaust" -- Darfur, Bosnia , Cambodia. dude learn some history. posting some idiotic statement only make you lose credibility.
- fotbr, on 03/14/2008, -8/+16The ***** in iraq, while bad, is no where near a holocaust, and you're absolutely off your rocker if you think its comparable to throwing people in gas chambers hundreds at a time.
- Mikidogo, on 03/14/2008, -2/+9You cannot terrify someone who is prepared to die for their cause.
- janrito, on 03/14/2008, -3/+9That is complete and utter *****. Terrorism exists because the of the conditions that people are forced to live in. Fundamentalists will always exist but they will not find an audience in people who live dignified lives. The only way to fight terrorism is to improve the standard of living.
Scaring people ***** is what got us into this situation. People need to have a life worth living. - swrostmore, on 03/14/2008, -1/+7The title is very straightforward and literal - taxi, because its about the death of a taxi driver, and dark side, in reference to Dick Cheney's quote regarding the treatment of prisoners, "We also have to work the dark side, if you will. We have to spend time in the shadows."
- mikeyhell, on 03/14/2008, -3/+8as a former member of the military I am glad I left when I did. this is a classic example of how easy it is to influence people eager to do well for themselves. Its sick and disgusting the way we brainwash people to treat other living, caring people who are caught in a bad situation.
- SenorCardgage74, on 03/14/2008, -2/+7Thanks. In light of that it makes sense and I stand corrected.
I seriously just though it was a painful attempt to sound cool. - inactive, on 03/14/2008, -0/+4yes, but have you seen the movie?
also, please look up the term "constructive criticism," I think it might add a little depth to your life to understand what real patriotism is - IMHO hahaha - Banelos, on 03/14/2008, -2/+6For a larger contextual understanding of war and manipulation I can highly recommend "War Made Easy", really well made documentary and worth the watch.

- ch28kid, on 03/14/2008, -2/+5Couldn't the uploader rename the file. The file name is exactly the same as the one mininova.
I'm just worried because BBC might remove it, when something like this should be seen my everyone. - ecape7, on 03/14/2008, -2/+5The sad thing is most people will never know this story they only know one narrative ans that comes from the white house
- malex, on 03/14/2008, -1/+4I'm hoping this is a parody. If not, please sit down and watch the film.
No, really. It's in your interest to know more about what's going on than you currently do. - gypsi, on 03/14/2008, -1/+4also nominated this year

- zephyr42, on 03/14/2008, -2/+5I can see what you were trying to do there, and this is *NO* joking matter.
- ecape7, on 03/14/2008, -2/+5um Fox news is still on go watch
- NachoPirate, on 03/14/2008, -1/+4I find it difficult to watch things like this. I loathe the Bush regime, sometimes it's painful to see this. My faith in our government is pretty much non-existent now.
- jellygraph, on 03/14/2008, -2/+4this was a truly awesome documentary, watched it the other night with me wifey, and it really put the whole abu ghraib issue and you really got an understanding about what led it to happen and how disgraceful it is that the soldiers take the blame, while those up higher in the chain of command, who are really to blame, wash their hands clean and say 'a few bad eggs'. disgusting
- mradules, on 03/13/2008, -4/+6We don't need to scare them, we need to ignore them. The goal of terrorism is not just to kill, but more importantly to instill fear. Though it may seem implausible, if Western countries were to stop reacting to terrorism by cracking down on freedom, the terrorists will have failed. The catch is that fear-mongering works in US politics, at least to the extent that dominates the headlines. Still, it's been good to see candidates like Obama and Kucinich, who don't feel the need to mention 9/11 in every sentence (*ahem* Giuliani).
- egoherodotus, on 03/14/2008, -1/+3Has anyone ever asked why terrorism exists in the first place? Have you ever asked if it is a reaction, and not just an action?
- ZenMojo, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2No need to give new terrorists a reasonable and valid excuse to start attacking us some more.
- Yatata, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2even better - the whole thing on youtube:

- replaysMike, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2ok I retract from my previous comment - this is a good video and I recommend watching it.
- Yatata, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2thank you thank you thank you
every time i ask that same basic rational question i get dugg down for some reason, i can't figure out why - are people too afraid to go there? it would be the logical first question after being punched in the face out of the blue - "why did you hit me??"
it seems basic logic was bypassed in favor of the angry hive approach. the rational fore-brain shut down in the face of fear and the bully went on a rampage around the schoolyard.
to find out the real reasons for terrorism (FYI it's not your "freedom") download the Democracy Now podcast for monday march 3rd 08; the last half of the show sheds some light. - SkuLLpHucT, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2*crickets*

- malex, on 03/14/2008, -1/+3DEATH TO ALL EXTREMISTS... Wait, what?
You aren't helping. - trabuco007, on 03/14/2008, -3/+5Download the full version torrent from here: http://www.mininova.org/tor/953637
:P - inactive, on 03/14/2008, -1/+3OK, since you have such a vast understanding of these "terrorists" why don't you tell us why they hate America? I am really hoping you answer my question.
- aspen, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2The version in the digg and on mininova is the tv rip from the 'why democracy' series of documentaries. Presumably it was edited for time constraints and possibly for content. I've only seen the version linked so I can't say what the other 30 minutes contain. As far as I know there is no dvd-rip or cam out as of yet.
