- synaesthesia, on 10/12/2007, -10/+23I dont understand, the animated portion of Kill Bill was kickass- i've never heard of anybody who felt otherwise. If that short scene is any indication of what we can expect in the next movies, we're in for a treat.
- mt066, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Yeah I don't know what to think about that. The anime sequence KillBill 1 was cool, but it was the live action scenes that really sold it for me. Who knows? Maybe he'll pull off something really cool though. The movie kind of lends itself towards cartoonish violence.
- masamunecyrus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11He mentioned at Comic-Con that he wants to do two anime prequels.
- millixaw, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Animated or not, I'd rather they just left Kill Bill alone. It was meant to be just two volumes. Don't be tempted to re-open a closed story for money reasons. This would be the first step towards animated sequels to Pulp Fiction and Resevoir Dogs (*shudders*)
- SmeRndmGy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10"Both films will be animated" ugh.
My thoughts exactly. Hopefully he changes his mind about that. It was fine for a few minutes in the other movies, but the whole movie like that would be lame. - chrismcelligott, on 10/12/2007, -9/+15I loved both Kill Bill movies, but animated? That sucks.
- so1omon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The date stamp on that is wrong. The blurb is clearly referring to the '06 SDCC (It's the subject of the posting). So... not old news. New news with an incorrect date.
- joaob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4check out IMDB. Him and Rodriguez are splitting the movie (really 2 movies) down the middle.
- z.unit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That's nice, now where the hell is our uncensored American box set?
- crazyman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What the *****? I want inglorious bastards.
- stuartjmoore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3...Five Fingers of Death
...Game of Death
...The Green Hornet - fifty50, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Old news. Notice the article was written in 2003.
- TomP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3ARRRR Kill Bill = Digg!
- jmc730, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Maybe you should re-watch Kill Bill Vol. 1 because there is an animated sequence for the back story on O-Ren.
- ThePict, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Because anything is possible with animation.
In any style. The Animatrix is one of the best examples, displaying 6 or 7 different styles, most of them taking full advantage of the anything is possible principle. - UrbanSquall, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This site is ad-tastic. Is it reputable, though?
- kodekitten, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2While everyone here seems to be debating over whether an animated installment is completely awesome, or absolutely horrible, MY first reaction was the following: " Tarantino, leave it the hell alone!!"
I am notoriously distrustful of sequels, and this is a sitution where Tarantonio is simply pursuing prequels as an enterprise, not an artistic calling. The only reason they are prequels is because he did a good job of ending the story with Kill Bill, leaving no hope of a sequel. What made Kill Bill so delicious was Beatrix's quest for blood revenge, but the prequels won't have that drive, (or Uma Thurman it seems.)
I think it's a sleezy move to milk a perfectly good movie like this. Sequels work for some, but not the really good movies. It most definitly tarnishes the original (insert your own hated sequel here.) - crimsondragon12, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I don't quite see how the animated Kill Bill prequels will be as alluring as the first two Kill Bill movies were. The integration of animation sequences interwoven into live action helped Tarantino make the potentially corny nature of the back stories work. It was a little on the lighter side, and a cartoon is the perfect medium for that. The prequels, being exclusively animated, invite themselves to be dismissed, and throw into question the functionality of the animated sequences in prior releases in the series.
- pbull, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@shokk
I caught the reference, even though folks are digging you down. - Namco, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Q was paying homage to the genre.
- wileyAU, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm still waiting for the real version of the first Kill Bill. Tarantino has a print that he carried around to festivals called Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair for a while which is supposed to be a completely re-edited version of volumes 1 and 2 as a single movie which I want on DVD like yesterday.
- lcarsdeveloper, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3@catoutfit, careful! You might start a trend! :p
- ezyeric, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The hair on my arms stuck staight up when i found this out, animation was minus points for me, but not too many. I loved the scene in Vol 1, but I loved Uma more. Ill watch them, none the less and its better than nothing. The entertainment and joy I got from Vol 1 I dont think will ever occur again. (Vol 2 was a normal movie with a story anyone could like)
- easycheez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thats why I liked it so much. You cant tell me you weren't taken aback when O'Ren's mother's blood started dripping through the mattress, or when she shot the guys ankles out from under the bed, or when the Muishiyata or whatever's teeth come flying out. If it is a whole movie like that, I will not be disappointed. Kill Bill must be watched with a good surround sound, otherwise you are wasting your time.
- horanghee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I did not like the animated oren scenes much. Maybe it's the style of anime or something, but it makes me feel queezy to look at the characters.
- amz830, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Kill Bill was originally create to honor asian style action movies this included chinese kung fu and japanese samurai movies. anime is just another style of asian film that was being honored. I dunno about you but the anime scene showed in Kill Bill vol 1 totally changed my opinion on anime. although i don't think that part was directed by him, i think that it would be interesting to see tarantino do something different and direct an animated verison. he'll probably be allowed to show even more gritty violent scenes now too because its easier done and approved of if it is a cartoon.
- a7bat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2There's no doubt that he's used a lot of foreign films to spice up his own. For Kill Bill, one film that comes to mind is Lady Snowblood...
- easycheez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1She had to lose to a ton of weight for this role, a healthy Uma Thurman is overly doable.
- Laolong, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3While I like like live action as much as the next guy I also like my anime (provided it's done well) so I'd be quite happy to see this and and it might help squash the stigma concerning anime and kids.
- Teaboy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Personally, I think Kill Bill 1 was quite good, like it was building up to something great, but then Kill Bill 2 was a huge anticlimax and generally boring. Another one will make it horrible. (IMO)
- ASoggyWaffle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2why does everyone like this animated stuff
- ThePict, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Asshat, they were originally a single movie . . . but he couldn't cut out enough material to get it down to an appropriate time for a commercial film - so he decided to release it as a two-parter.
- Recluse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1These are some of the worst comments I've ever seen on this site. Everyone is whining about the movie being animated. "Boooo waaaaah! Animation sucks!"
- Crashwithuhk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like QT's movies. That said, I'm not a fan of anime at all and even though I'll go see these anyway I would rather him back to doing crime movies like Pulp or Dogs.
- L0lz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Is there any more information about the first two being released in theaters as one movie? Because I missed it on the silver screen and would love to see it. I hope it wasn't just an unfounded rumor.
- djironx, on 10/12/2007, -7/+8@ThePict
This is of course your opinion. Yeah anime is artistically breathtaking. But I would rather see two more live action Kill Bill movies than see two animated ones. Its just more exhilarating that way, and I'm sure many people will agree. - LEDDY, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1FKIN SWEEET!
- ThePict, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Tarantino's all about elevating the tasteless.
- tychop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ooops. Undigg !!
- rbvmusic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1hmm, funny I loved Ghost in the Shell but didn't really like the anime sequence in Kill Bill. I mean honestly Ghost in the Shell pwns Kill Bill, but maybe if they take full production on a whole movie they can make it up to par.
- rbvmusic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't like the fact that it's going to be anime not because I don't like anime but that tarantino can't do it well. There's tons of good gun slinging, sword fighting, mob dealing animes better than the little anime section of Kill Bill.
- j00fek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1bah anime, maybe i wont see these :(
- Pignanelli, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I have always been puzzled about what people find entertaining about the Tarantino movies, which to me are more pure spectacle (and largely offensive, at that), whereas what I am looking for is depth, meaning, beauty, social and personal value.
I'm sure there are those who would say his movies embody just those concepts, but if you believe that, please explain how so. - Falldog, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4You people have really poor taste in movies.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Sounds exciting...but hold on, what's this Grind House movie? Looks really promising.
- EGOvoruhk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I love Kill Bill, and I think these will be great. It will also give him time to work on other movies. So instead of two more live action Kill Bills, we will get two animated Kill Bills, and something like Inglorious Bastards
- idonthack, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2It's a two-part story. It was meant to be one movie but they had to split it due to the length.
Also she's not an alien. That was just a troll post. - RegisteredUser, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I think some people are just ignorant to the fact that Kill Bill was a homage to many of Tarantino's favorite films and genre. It wasn't meant to be a groundbreaking and original movie.
- jtrost, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2If you only saw the first one then you've only seen half of the story. That's like turning a one part movie off an hour in.
