IMO kill bill is the most ridiculus movie out there.
Bury me or agree with me- lcarsdeveloper, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17@shrimpdesign, this is a reply to your comment.
- catoutfit, on 10/12/2007, -11/+4how long before people start saying "Bury this comment if you are gay"
- Namco, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4Option 3: tell you you're an asshat.
- lcarsdeveloper, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3@catoutfit, careful! You might start a trend! :p
- ThePict, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5Tarantino is GREAT! Kill Bill is, to a certain extent, supposed to be ridiculous. The first volume is a tribute to and parody of martial arts films, the blacksploitation of the east. The second is a tribute to and parody of the spaghetti western genre. All Tarantino films work on this level to some degree or another, I suggest that you just don't 'get it'.
The genius of Kill Bill is that it's enjoyable on so many levels. I have children of my own, and parts of Vol. 2 can bring tears to my eyes in sympathy for BK's quest to find her daughter.
- chrismcelligott, on 10/12/2007, -9/+15I loved both Kill Bill movies, but animated? That sucks.
- mt066, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Yeah I don't know what to think about that. The anime sequence KillBill 1 was cool, but it was the live action scenes that really sold it for me. Who knows? Maybe he'll pull off something really cool though. The movie kind of lends itself towards cartoonish violence.
- jameshales, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1The "real-life" special effects in Kill Bill were very cartoonish, i.e. all the blood everywhere. I really feel the anime parts of Kill Bill were out of place despite the style of the rest of the film, but a whole animated movie could be good.
- amz830, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Kill Bill was originally create to honor asian style action movies this included chinese kung fu and japanese samurai movies. anime is just another style of asian film that was being honored. I dunno about you but the anime scene showed in Kill Bill vol 1 totally changed my opinion on anime. although i don't think that part was directed by him, i think that it would be interesting to see tarantino do something different and direct an animated verison. he'll probably be allowed to show even more gritty violent scenes now too because its easier done and approved of if it is a cartoon.
- rbvmusic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't like the fact that it's going to be anime not because I don't like anime but that tarantino can't do it well. There's tons of good gun slinging, sword fighting, mob dealing animes better than the little anime section of Kill Bill.
- charbarred, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Sounds exciting...but hold on, what's this Grind House movie? Looks really promising.
- joaob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4check out IMDB. Him and Rodriguez are splitting the movie (really 2 movies) down the middle.
- Oetzi, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5Animated could be really cool. Can't wait to get more info actually.
- Bubbles1983, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Umm im not down with the whole idea of animation and kill bill in the same sentence, hmmm why doesnt he make something completly new , make it a animation , make it gory , make it crazty , make it original i think u shouldnt ruin a good thing....
- jmc730, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Maybe you should re-watch Kill Bill Vol. 1 because there is an animated sequence for the back story on O-Ren.
- ThePict, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I'm sure that it will be sufficiently new; it's certain to be crazy and gory, nor will it ruin a good thing. This is Tarantino we're talking about.
- Laolong, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3While I like like live action as much as the next guy I also like my anime (provided it's done well) so I'd be quite happy to see this and and it might help squash the stigma concerning anime and kids.
- syphern, on 10/12/2007, -13/+5I personally hate tarantinos style, he ripped off alot of good chinese movies for kill bill yet the people who didnt see these originals think WOW kill bill is amazing! Its like eminem he came into the rap game the white folks were like WOW hes amazing best rapper ever! When there were dozens of better rappers out there!
- DerekL, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3But could you hear a word they said?
- a7bat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2There's no doubt that he's used a lot of foreign films to spice up his own. For Kill Bill, one film that comes to mind is Lady Snowblood...
- Namco, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Q was paying homage to the genre.
- stuartjmoore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3...Five Fingers of Death
...Game of Death
...The Green Hornet - RegisteredUser, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I think some people are just ignorant to the fact that Kill Bill was a homage to many of Tarantino's favorite films and genre. It wasn't meant to be a groundbreaking and original movie.
- fifty50, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Old news. Notice the article was written in 2003.
- so1omon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The date stamp on that is wrong. The blurb is clearly referring to the '06 SDCC (It's the subject of the posting). So... not old news. New news with an incorrect date.
- UrbanSquall, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This site is ad-tastic. Is it reputable, though?
- Teaboy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Personally, I think Kill Bill 1 was quite good, like it was building up to something great, but then Kill Bill 2 was a huge anticlimax and generally boring. Another one will make it horrible. (IMO)
- ThePict, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Asshat, they were originally a single movie . . . but he couldn't cut out enough material to get it down to an appropriate time for a commercial film - so he decided to release it as a two-parter.
- canewediggit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1not sure about an animated kill bill sequel or prequel, not sure what is left to do.
however, i think an anime style tv show about o ren ishiii's back story would be really cool. the opening could be the scene from vol.1 when her family gets whacked, and the episodes can chart her rise to top assassin and lord of the yakuza. think late night adult swim. - loquax, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22 dimensional caricatures and Tarantino? Who would have thunk it?
- Falldog, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4You people have really poor taste in movies.
- ThePict, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Tarantino's all about elevating the tasteless.
- z.unit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That's nice, now where the hell is our uncensored American box set?
- BlackMike, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1sweet, can't wait for crazy future bio-mechanical Elle to come back. I'm disappointed by the 'animated' part maybe some rotoscoping like in "A Scanner Darkly" would be really cool, I didn't like the O-Ren anime style in KB1 that much.
- wileyAU, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm still waiting for the real version of the first Kill Bill. Tarantino has a print that he carried around to festivals called Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair for a while which is supposed to be a completely re-edited version of volumes 1 and 2 as a single movie which I want on DVD like yesterday.
- kodekitten, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2While everyone here seems to be debating over whether an animated installment is completely awesome, or absolutely horrible, MY first reaction was the following: " Tarantino, leave it the hell alone!!"
I am notoriously distrustful of sequels, and this is a sitution where Tarantonio is simply pursuing prequels as an enterprise, not an artistic calling. The only reason they are prequels is because he did a good job of ending the story with Kill Bill, leaving no hope of a sequel. What made Kill Bill so delicious was Beatrix's quest for blood revenge, but the prequels won't have that drive, (or Uma Thurman it seems.)
I think it's a sleezy move to milk a perfectly good movie like this. Sequels work for some, but not the really good movies. It most definitly tarnishes the original (insert your own hated sequel here.) - ASoggyWaffle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2why does everyone like this animated stuff
- ThePict, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Because anything is possible with animation.
In any style. The Animatrix is one of the best examples, displaying 6 or 7 different styles, most of them taking full advantage of the anything is possible principle.
- ThePict, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Because anything is possible with animation.
- pathy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3*****.
I really hope they are animatied, and I really hope that he gets Production IG to do it. I love their style.
For anyone who isn't familiar, they've created Ghost in the Shell, and the anime segment of Kill Bill Vol 1.
Anyone interested in checking them out, try Blood - The Last Vampire. It's quite short, but it seriously kicks ass.
In short: Woot.- rbvmusic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1hmm, funny I loved Ghost in the Shell but didn't really like the anime sequence in Kill Bill. I mean honestly Ghost in the Shell pwns Kill Bill, but maybe if they take full production on a whole movie they can make it up to par.
- horanghee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I did not like the animated oren scenes much. Maybe it's the style of anime or something, but it makes me feel queezy to look at the characters.
- easycheez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thats why I liked it so much. You cant tell me you weren't taken aback when O'Ren's mother's blood started dripping through the mattress, or when she shot the guys ankles out from under the bed, or when the Muishiyata or whatever's teeth come flying out. If it is a whole movie like that, I will not be disappointed. Kill Bill must be watched with a good surround sound, otherwise you are wasting your time.
- ezyeric, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The hair on my arms stuck staight up when i found this out, animation was minus points for me, but not too many. I loved the scene in Vol 1, but I loved Uma more. Ill watch them, none the less and its better than nothing. The entertainment and joy I got from Vol 1 I dont think will ever occur again. (Vol 2 was a normal movie with a story anyone could like)
- horanghee, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2I found the end of the second movie where Uma Thurman turned out to be an alien was a bit tacky as well.
- ThePict, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Does anyone else think Uma is a hideous wreck of a woman who's only considered sexy because she's blonde? The scenes of her feet in the Pussy Wagon made me throw up in my mouth a little.
Granted, she did look kinda hot in some of the scenes, but she still reminds me of Keith Richards.- easycheez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1She had to lose to a ton of weight for this role, a healthy Uma Thurman is overly doable.
- TomP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3ARRRR Kill Bill = Digg!
- Crashwithuhk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like QT's movies. That said, I'm not a fan of anime at all and even though I'll go see these anyway I would rather him back to doing crime movies like Pulp or Dogs.
- thebrandonshow, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1What's said at Comic Conventions can also be misquoted or totally changed by the time it hits production. Honestly? This may be a lot of arguing over nothing.
-Brandon
http://www.thebrandonshow.com - crimsondragon12, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I don't quite see how the animated Kill Bill prequels will be as alluring as the first two Kill Bill movies were. The integration of animation sequences interwoven into live action helped Tarantino make the potentially corny nature of the back stories work. It was a little on the lighter side, and a cartoon is the perfect medium for that. The prequels, being exclusively animated, invite themselves to be dismissed, and throw into question the functionality of the animated sequences in prior releases in the series.
- EGOvoruhk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I love Kill Bill, and I think these will be great. It will also give him time to work on other movies. So instead of two more live action Kill Bills, we will get two animated Kill Bills, and something like Inglorious Bastards
- crazyman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What the *****? I want inglorious bastards.
- L0lz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Is there any more information about the first two being released in theaters as one movie? Because I missed it on the silver screen and would love to see it. I hope it wasn't just an unfounded rumor.
- j00fek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1bah anime, maybe i wont see these :(
- tychop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ooops. Undigg !!
- LEDDY, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1FKIN SWEEET!
- Pignanelli, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I have always been puzzled about what people find entertaining about the Tarantino movies, which to me are more pure spectacle (and largely offensive, at that), whereas what I am looking for is depth, meaning, beauty, social and personal value.
I'm sure there are those who would say his movies embody just those concepts, but if you believe that, please explain how so. - Pignanelli, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1oops comment submitted twice, mod down
- Recluse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1These are some of the worst comments I've ever seen on this site. Everyone is whining about the movie being animated. "Boooo waaaaah! Animation sucks!"
