- ElGuapo1, on 05/20/2008, -3/+13I've always liked Green Arrow. He would kick Hawkeye's purple ass.
- wild, on 05/20/2008, -0/+7I was more of a Hawkeye fan when I was a kid. I also liked the Ultimate Warrior and He-Man.
And thus, while typing this out on Digg, I finally understand why my mom always thought I was gay.
-----
Side note" Someone below posted that the original Green Arrow was named Oliver Queen. And now I know I my mothers hopes were doomed no matter which superhero in tights with pointy sticks and a light step I chose to follow...- boejangles, on 05/20/2008, -0/+1Purple > Green
- cowsgonemadd3, on 05/20/2008, -0/+3He has a donkey?
- antdude, on 05/20/2008, -0/+1And purple color?
- wild, on 05/20/2008, -0/+7I was more of a Hawkeye fan when I was a kid. I also liked the Ultimate Warrior and He-Man.
- KELLEL, on 05/20/2008, -0/+10Hell yeah! WOOT!! WOOT!!
This is GREAT!!
They got a Green Arrow film in the works with Oliver Queen, the original and best GA! Hopefully we'll see a Green Lantern film with Hal Jordan, the original and best GL, and a Flash film with Barry Allen, the original and best Flash someday too.
Anything other than Batman would be great!- sirmcdiznuts, on 05/20/2008, -0/+3Not only Batman but Superman too. I really hope did do Green Latern justice.
- KELLEL, on 05/20/2008, -0/+2Same here. And while personally, I'd like to see a GOOD take on Superman, I would prefer that Flash, GL, and or GA or even Aquaman got some time in the limelight before another Superman and especially another Batman comes out.
- xOKxWhy, on 05/20/2008, -1/+4Wally is better than Barry
- nilcam, on 05/20/2008, -1/+1And Jay Garrick is even better.
- WNW3, on 05/20/2008, -0/+3Unmarried non-father Wally is better than current Wally
- demiurgency, on 05/20/2008, -0/+2Screw all that.
I want to see the Guy Gardner GL movie. Let's have a movie about the WORST GL. There's a story that needs to be told.- Charlotte_Web, on 05/20/2008, -0/+3If Hancock does well at the box office, then the next round of superhero movies will all be about heroes who are fatally flawed.
- WootZoot, on 05/20/2008, -1/+2Alan Scott and Jay Garrik were the original Green Lantern and Flash, not Hal Jordan and Barry Allen.
- WNW3, on 05/21/2008, -0/+1Nobody cares about goldenage
- newbill123, on 05/20/2008, -0/+1Captain Marvel has a lot of baggage to overcome (Shazam! on saturday mornings) but done either as a true C. C. Beck G-rated adaptation or as a MiracleMan / Alan Moore R-rated spin, there is a lot of potential.
- sirmcdiznuts, on 05/20/2008, -0/+3Not only Batman but Superman too. I really hope did do Green Latern justice.
- Ninjao, on 05/20/2008, -0/+5This sounds promising.. there is a lot that can go wrong though. Hopefully it won't.
- elamr, on 05/20/2008, -0/+8Holy *****, this sound geek-tastic!
- Jsmuli2, on 05/20/2008, -0/+1If they turned Kevin Smith's Green Arrow into a movie, that would be quite sick as well.
- taradisiac, on 05/20/2008, -10/+2A superhero movie? Gee how original...
- BuzzFriendly, on 05/20/2008, -0/+1Just what exactly king of villain is The Calculator? Maybe he places you in an infinite loop to calculate Pi or something.
- Rizmaster, on 05/20/2008, -0/+3He's more of an information broker. When directly involved in villainy he's still behind the scenes as a planner more so than an in the dirt beatdown type.
- mcsenget, on 05/20/2008, -0/+5He can divide by zero!
OH SHI- - RenegadeRoy, on 05/20/2008, -0/+1Yeah I think he meant Calculator not THE Calculator. Rizmaster is correct, he basically is the villain equivalent of Oracle. He hooks baddies up with info on pretty much anyone and everyone in the DCU, for the right price of course.
- Doomshot, on 05/20/2008, -0/+1Rizmaster and RenegadeRoy are correct. Calculator got his start as a standard villain with a giant calculator costume, then later turned to the information broker business for the supervillain community.
- newbill123, on 05/20/2008, -0/+155378008 34 51
- newbill123, on 05/21/2008, -0/+1Being male, of course, the answer to that question is rhetorical (unless he got really chubby while in prison).
- PabloIV, on 05/20/2008, -1/+3I bet hardcore DC fans got a huge raging one for that rogues gallery, of no name baddies.
//me, more of a Marvel guy
///Movie concept sounds awesome - zaren, on 05/20/2008, -0/+2Follow link to article... read... read... read...
Holy crap!!! CHECKMATE is going to be in this?!?!? Amanda "The Wall" Waller? Floronic Man? Deathstroke? Sweet jumping catfish, this movie is going to be a late 80s DC fanboy's dream come true!
I wonder if my Checkmate issues are gonna be worth anything... - Cassanova, on 05/20/2008, -0/+1I have no idea who any of these people mentioned in the article are..but the plot sounds sick so I'm all for it.
- mlvassallo, on 05/20/2008, -0/+2This is going to be a wait and see. I mean Justin Marks? They credit him with Voltron... however I don't remember seeing a Voltron movie...
- Charlotte_Web, on 05/20/2008, -0/+1http://www.latinoreview.com/scriptreview.php?id=65
No movie, but a script has been floating around.
- Charlotte_Web, on 05/20/2008, -0/+1http://www.latinoreview.com/scriptreview.php?id=65
- redmannine, on 05/20/2008, -0/+2I'm not a huge comic book fan, but I do find the concept of super Villains&Heroes in a prison made just for them fascinating.
- Charlotte_Web, on 05/20/2008, -0/+1I always wondered why they didn't just kill most of the super villains. Drown them, gas them, burn them, put 'em in a rocket and shoot it at the Sun, or something like that. I mean, how many innocents do they have to kill before a super villain gets the death penalty?
- newbill123, on 05/20/2008, -0/+1I some cases (magic, alien, super-human) it's not known how to kill them. You very well may wind up accidentally releasing them again, giving them more powers from your attempt, or otherwise just annoying them.

- malechite, on 05/20/2008, -0/+2 i like Justin Hartley's Green Arrow. he was pretty bad ass on smallville.
- Tokyosexwhale, on 05/20/2008, -1/+1wtf is up with 'latinoreview' breaking these stories? I remember seeing something else come through this site and wondering where all these latinos are getting their connections. good stuff tho
- HouseofEl, on 05/20/2008, -0/+2Wonderful. I've never been a fan of this idea. First of all, you're taking an already established general idea from a TV show. Hey, here is a thought! Why not make a decent DC comic film to establish the character? I'm more of a DC fan than a Marvel fan, but Marvel is doing much better with their film ideas. I don't want to see Green Arrow without, oh I don't know, the arrows. This idea is nothing more than a way to get the studio execs to sign off on a comic book movie without the comic book. Those villains don't count. Stop trying to spin comics into new ideas for film and just make the damn comic book a film.
- protodon, on 05/20/2008, -0/+3So there's going to be a voltron movie?
- HanSolo69, on 05/20/2008, -1/+1Such a waste of a good character.
- RenegadeRoy, on 05/20/2008, -0/+1Considering its still being passed around to be read... we won't even see this movie in production for at the very least a year. And that is if it's sold tomorrow. Between here and now this thing can (and almost certainly will) be changed. As it is the story kind of leaves me flat. But by the time this thing gets made, I wouldn't be surprised if the liscense from DC was gone and it was just hero X goes to jail and has to fight his way through all of his past villains, eventually escaping. I love Ollie, and I like how this is an original superhero movie (rather then the usual formula: hero's life before, discovers power(s), fights crime, questions self, beats badguy, bangs damsel, wash and repeat as sequels are needed), but I just don't think it's going to work.
Now for the fanboy rage! Cameos by Luthor, Riddler and Joker? Lame. WTF are they doing in this super prison? I can see maybe Luthor, but him ending up in prison is such a goddamn stretch, and the other two fools would be in Arkham, duh, they're crazy. I do like the B and Z listers, but some of these guys are such no namers. Split? Seriously? Why not actually use real DC villains that don't suck ass. Merlyn is pimp, but without his arrows and other weapons he's kind of a mook. Whatever, I'll still see it when it releases in 2018- Doomshot, on 05/20/2008, -0/+1I agree with you, but I think it makes more sense to have B-list villains in the prison, seeing as how all the major, fan-popular villains always seem to be escaping their prisons for exciting crisis-level storylines. The B-List guys hardly ever show up in continuity, and when they do, it's most likely to be killed off.
P.S. Merlyn is not completely useless without his arrows. He works for the League of Assassins. Think about it.

- killianwilliams, on 05/20/2008, -0/+0Green Arrow kicks major ass!
- mattbrad2, on 05/20/2008, -0/+0Someones making a Voltron movie??! There is a God.
- StrokerAce, on 05/20/2008, -0/+1Hollywood's all about crushing originality. With the success of Iron Man, I'm sure Warner Bros. is looking to cash in on the 'rich industrialist with a penchant for loose women' craze. "Hey Bob - who in our stable of B-List heroes is a loaded smart-ass and great with the broads? Green Arrow? GreenLIGHT is more like it!"
In all seriousness, David Goyer did deliver a kickass script with Batman Begins, and a transforming super-prison with Checkmate thrown into the mix does sound pretty cool. Green Arrow's a good character - I really hope this works on the big screen. - blckng, on 05/20/2008, -0/+1I like how they're stealing villains from other properties to make up for Green Arrow's complete lack of a rogues gallery. But honestly, where the heck is Onomatopoeia? The coolest villain Ollie has and he doesn't show up? Ugh.
Still, sounds like a decent premise, even if it seems a little Devil-In-Cell-Block-D-ish. - RabidFurby, on 05/20/2008, -0/+1I'm excited. I wish I was more enthusiastic but I never read Green Arrow. Maybe I'll buy a few trades.
I think a Deadpool movie would be awesome. Just putting it out there. - TwwIX, on 05/20/2008, -0/+1How are they going to fit all of that into a 2 hour movie?
- newbill123, on 05/20/2008, -0/+1I especially like the Floronic Man as a villain choice even though it's probably because Dr. Jason Woodrue was introduced to the public already (in the nipple-trauma that was Batman and Robin). He's capable of truly unlimited power and his restraint is usually due to his mental state rather than being "out gunned".
No idea what he'll be doing behind bars, but I suspect he'll be running a pot & 'shroom business to the other inmates if he's not in complete lockdown. Convinced to help out Green Arrow by logical rather than physical means, he'll supply the wood for him to make a bow and quiver of arrows. If he gets in a fight directly with an inmate or guard, his power will undoubtedly make a very creative use of jock itch bacteria or mold on the walls to stage a very creative defeat. - TommyBoy919, on 05/20/2008, -0/+1A movie about "superheroes" I've never even heard of. That's just fantastic!
- wheelsdude, on 05/20/2008, -0/+0Green Arrow Rocks!
- path317, on 05/21/2008, -0/+1im with renegaderoy on this one. sweet idea, great character but a movie we wont see for a very very long time. the green arrow is one of my absolute favorite characters and i really hope they dont ***** it up but these days that seems like a really likely possibility.
