- allanpat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5i think the variations in reports are due to the fact that Superman Returns had been in development limbo for what, 10 years? the $300-plus number probably includes the numerous script-rewrites, production overhauls, etc... before Brian Singer ever even came on board.
The $200 million is probably the actual cost of them making the Bryan Singer helmed Superman Returns. - allanpat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3if it starts a successful franchise of multiple movies, toys, video games, etc.... absolutely
- Rtaylor32, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Sounds like marketing hype.
- haystacker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2At $200 million its not exactly the most expensive film. At $300 million it would be, but i think those reports are bogus.

Just want the film to rock!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Do they really think they will recoup this?
- sdtheman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah your prob. right the aussie papers are making it out to be the next titanic cost wise. Well anyway lets hope a lot of money = a great movie. although waterworld cost alot but sucked more,
- djej1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If it is only $ 200 million it would not be the most expensive movie ever, since X Men 3 cost $210 million.

KNEEL BEFORE ZOD! - mightymouse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Bring on the people who say "oh this money could be used for this and that and blah".
- aggieandrew, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Taking worldwide grosses into account, this will make well over $300
Most people just look at the domestic grosses and think that's all the money a movie makes. A lot of US movies make more than half of their money in other countries.
For example, the Da Vinci Code has made $479 overseas and only $200 domestically. - sdtheman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Remember my son you have great power!
- jarcoal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1plus dvd sales, that keeps the bank coming in for a while.
- thenativeraver, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Too bad I'm gonna stick it to the MPAA and pirate that *****!
