- Pxtl, on 03/10/2009, -1/+71It sells. Kids are stupid, and parents have money. Supply and demand dictates that there's a market for it.
Look at it this way - rolling the concerts up as "movies" means that we don't have to hear more horror stories of $10,000 ticket scalpers for Hannah Montana. - inactive, on 03/10/2009, -16/+54Who gives a *****?
If people want to see it at the theater, they will. If not, the films will fail and this whole thing will end.
Complaining about it on digg is just gay and useless. - johnwiz, on 03/10/2009, -0/+23it's crack for kids, very smart move by disney
- Rivfader, on 03/10/2009, -0/+21As much as I hate Hanna Montana and trash like this, always remember kids like stupid *****. So deal with! Think of all that lame ass crap you liked as a kid and made your parents buy gimmicky ***** for you.
- dbldn, on 03/10/2009, -0/+20Yeah? Spinal Tap is more my bag...
- kinseyincanada, on 03/10/2009, -1/+21look these are made for 12 year old girls and the like. They are not made for people on digg. Not everything in this world caters to you stupid kids like them, so who cares. There is plenty of stupid ***** kids love, but Hannah Montanna and the Jonas Brothers sell like cocaine. Why the hell would Disney stop selling them.
- ddogfilm, on 03/10/2009, -2/+18HORRIBLE MOVIES
- dbldn, on 03/10/2009, -4/+19Complaining about someone complaining on digg = gay?
- slightlyoffbeat, on 03/10/2009, -0/+13I wouldn't be caught dead at one of these films, but kids love it so is really that big of a deal? Do you really have to write a blog post about it?
People get so angry sometimes at studios for creating certain types of content, but what they fail to remember is that studios try to create shows and movies that people will watch. Its not supply that is the issue, its the demand. - BrianSaysHi, on 03/10/2009, -0/+13They're made for 11 year old. Don't be shocked when you don't like them.
- yugosakimi, on 03/10/2009, -1/+13I agree, totally. Of course, I'm not a 6-year-old, or the stressed-out, desperate-for-a-break working mother of a 6-year-old...
- jasonpadams, on 03/10/2009, -5/+17Every child should be forced to watch the "AWESOME! I *****' SHOT THAT" Beastie Boys concert movie.
- staffa, on 03/10/2009, -0/+10I am guessing you are not part of the target market.
I am also guessing that you believe that anything that isn't tailored made for you should not be allowed.
Try and guess what that makes me believe about you. - dnlslm9, on 03/10/2009, -1/+11I was on IMDB and came across this Funny/Weird review about the "Jonas Brothers 3-D Experience Movie":http://digg.com/odd_stuff/WTF_Talk_About_The_Jonas ...
- brianbb98, on 03/10/2009, -2/+11these PRETZLES are making me THIRSTY!!!!!
- inactive, on 03/10/2009, -0/+9What the hell is Disney doing with these concert “movies”?
ANSWER? Making a fortune. - mythicflux, on 03/10/2009, -0/+8That and the fact that Disney can control the revenue streams for their performers even more. Since traditionally musical acts make their money of concert performances and resultant merchandise sales. I'm sure Disney uses it as a way to control their talent financial options further. Limit the number of concerts a performer can do by saturating the market and thus make them more dependent on the corporate structure for payouts.
And since a recorded concert can be resold over an over again on Disney DVD, the corporation gets more and more money at the expend of their 'artists'. - unknamed, on 03/10/2009, -1/+9Agreed they're stupid "movies" but... on my list of things to complain about, this is about number 273.
- byoung2, on 03/10/2009, -0/+7It's way more cost-effective to reach the smaller cities with the 3D movie version than with more tourdates. Plus you give people in smaller towns a chance to experience the huge arena concert experience without having to travel a long way. I'm sure there are fewer families taking long road trips to see the Jonas Brothers in this economy.
- inactive, on 03/10/2009, -1/+7Stop whining. Hopefully this will catch on for other bands.
Movie theatres have exceptional and well certified audio systems. Hearing a live recording of your favorite band reproduced in a theatre will rival even an in-person concert experience.
And so will the view on the large screen - especially if it's in 3D.
This may well be the best way to experience your favorite band. - CarbonXe, on 03/10/2009, -1/+7No one is forcing you to go see the movie. If a movie doesn't interest you, don't see it. Simple as that.
- johnwiz, on 03/10/2009, -0/+6but let me set this straight, i'm not a fan and the movie will blow
- kirb59y, on 03/10/2009, -1/+7Judging by the colossal failure of the JoBro movie, I think we can expect fewer of these concert movies in the future. Well, one can hope...
- codyman, on 03/10/2009, -0/+6My children will watch Led Zeppelin play Royal Albert Hall, not The Jonas Brothers play Akron, Ohio or wherever the ***** they shot that thing
- ninjagames, on 03/10/2009, -1/+7It really does annoy me, since when are concerts good movies?
- NoodlePants, on 03/10/2009, -0/+5You must have not been at a Disney park then.
- mythicflux, on 03/10/2009, -0/+5Who ever they just gave a new show to. There are always 14-16 year olds looking for fame because of mommy and daddy issues that Disney can exploit by building them up into the next big thing.
Protip: whenever Disney advertises a new show google the name of the star. Ten to one odds that person also has an album coming out soon. - ybotoby, on 03/10/2009, -0/+5I would totally DO Jasmine from Aladdin...wait...hannah who?
- Fleagleman, on 03/10/2009, -0/+5What are they doing? Making money. I suppose that is too complicated? Somehow you felt that Disney had too much integrity for such nonsense? Where have you been?
- Mankind121, on 03/10/2009, -0/+4Who is left for Disney to whore out in a new concert movie anyway?
- SaladCactusKing, on 03/10/2009, -0/+4Jonas Brothers, surprisingly, bombed at the Box Office, opening at number 2 and falling back to number 9 this week.
We might be getting our wish. - Hardataq, on 03/10/2009, -0/+4I like your taste, she was by far the hottest Disney chick of that era. It was always my opinion that she had something going with that tiger Raja, if nothing else it at least saw her do some crazy *****. Those Little Mermaid fanboys can go suck a doorknob. How are you going to bang a fin? Actually don't answer that.
- BoxAdorable, on 03/10/2009, -0/+4DUH.
- quisph, on 03/11/2009, -0/+3Complaining only draws more attention to the movies. This is the first I've heard of them. I guess now I can ignore them even harder... Fat lot of good that will do.
- zboyet, on 03/11/2009, -0/+3Please list the rest
- Morose7, on 03/10/2009, -1/+4To hell with that, Zeppelin man, teach those kids well.
- LilRabbitFooFoo, on 03/10/2009, -0/+3Disney is back to the 1970's era with Herbie and Witch Mountain movies...
- kalvinb, on 03/10/2009, -1/+4More bands should do this. It's not the concept that's the problem, it's the selection of bands that you can go see in this format.
- bythewar, on 03/10/2009, -0/+3So your saying that you would pay $5 for a Hanna Montana DVD. Value is whatever an individual attaches to an item.
I don't value these 'concert' movies, nor do I value this article written about them. Apathy levels reaching all time highs. - kalvinb, on 03/10/2009, -2/+5Or, you could let your kids decide what music they like and let them enjoy their interests.
- trollick, on 03/10/2009, -1/+4As long as watching these movies is not mandatory, I could not care less.
- PaulGadd, on 03/10/2009, -0/+3I'm 16, my girlfriend is 16, she goes to see them everytime they come to England.
I die a little inside everytime. - seltaeb4, on 03/10/2009, -0/+3Qu'est-ce que c'est?
- lansuggs, on 03/10/2009, -1/+4It's still interesting to see you have to qualify your comment with calling the films stupid or their fans stupid. That's like making a judgment of quality on any product that is marketed towards kids. "Look at this stupid teddy bear... I have no use for it, so why does something this stupid exist?!"
I know we like to protect our 'adultiness' and ability to perceive poor quality in entertainment, but I don't think it's really fair to call it stupid. - stormc, on 03/11/2009, -0/+2Since 1984 when Stop Making Sense was released.
- dogma, on 03/11/2009, -0/+2Frightening thought: Jonas Brothers concert, shot like that. It would just be a lot of footage of girls screaming at each other, and fighting over who's hotter. And the occasional shot of fathers who brought their daughters and their friends, with the "Please Kill Me" look.
- Anth, on 03/10/2009, -0/+2I figured Disney had to release these concert movies because there was no way that most families could afford the $100+ ticket prices for the actual concerts these performers put on. But because of scalping you have to drop a lot of money just to see them perform in person.
