Stars Wars Ad: In Case of Sith, Break Glass for Light Saber
weblogs.amny.com — Kudos to SpikeTv.com for this incredibly cool bus-shelter ad. The network has installed Stars Wars faux "light sabers" where the ad would normally go, with the promo text at the bottom. We are instructed to "use only in case of Sith."

- FulcrumVitesse, on 03/27/2008, -3/+16That's an ad I'd like to see in my town. Very creative and funny.
- mav7469, on 03/27/2008, -3/+47Can't see this in Boston, the police might blow it up. Which would bring the Sith down on us with no protection.
- streetsim, on 03/27/2008, -1/+7That's an ad I'd like to steal in my town.
- Godlike, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1That thing better be bolted down as *****!
- tehpwnerofn00bs, on 03/27/2008, -2/+78Honestly, I'd love to just dress up as Vader and hang around the sign until someone tried to break it.
- ninsei, on 03/27/2008, -0/+42Don't lie, you just want to dress up like Darth Vader.
- max420, on 03/27/2008, -0/+12Who doesn't?
- ninsei, on 03/27/2008, -0/+5True
- slundal, on 03/27/2008, -7/+1I swear if you do that I'll be there to brake the glass!
- alpha19, on 03/27/2008, -1/+71This might be a geek moment for me... but I thought only the Sith use red lightsabers...
- troyguy2, on 03/27/2008, -0/+7You're right.. they typically only do use Red, but the various colours are for you to use to fight them off. ;c)
- jedimasta, on 03/27/2008, -1/+28This WILL be a geek moment for me, but no, red sabers aren't exclusively sith. Lucas just used the color as symbolism (white = pure, good, heroic. red = evil, villainous, violent). As far as the SW mythos goes though, the color of the saber is based on the crystal used by the jedi in question when building his saber.
- XristosAnesti, on 03/27/2008, -0/+16I thought that the crystals that produce a red beam, though, have certain properties that appeal to sith lords, whereas other crystals (yellow, blue, green, or even purple if you rock hard enough) have different properties that appeal more to jedi.
- ghosttown80, on 03/27/2008, -0/+14The synthetic crystals that siths used to produce their lightsabers make a red beam, while naturally occurring crystals create a Green/Blue/Yellow/Purple beam.
- ashwin100, on 03/27/2008, -8/+3I bet you get all the ladies...
- Aidje, on 03/27/2008, -0/+10Luke's green lightsaber form RotJ actually used a synthetic crystal. You're pretty close to being right though. Sith do almost exclusively use synthetic crystals, and their methods lead to red crystals.
- AmICoolNow, on 03/27/2008, -0/+11Congratulations, you just won nerdiest comment thread of the year!
- ScottoGato, on 03/27/2008, -0/+7Every response to each comment gets exponentially geekier, but sadly followed it 100%.
- aceakm, on 03/27/2008, -1/+1Wtf is this ***** about crystals?
- lxcid, on 03/28/2008, -0/+6Congrat to everyone who manage to find their way here. :)
- gamemaster357, on 03/28/2008, -0/+2im commenting this as a bookmark to come back someday

- Haroshia, on 03/27/2008, -1/+10If you go by the stuff in KOTOR as canon, then the red saber crystals are made exclusively by squishing an egg or of a light saber crystal creating bug thing...which is evil.
- Mpwns, on 03/27/2008, -0/+6adi gala is a jedi and she uses a red saber.
- SuperJimmyJimbo, on 03/27/2008, -10/+3Oh *****! Someone call the SWAT team!
- ExRe, on 03/27/2008, -0/+7It's a trap!
- XristosAnesti, on 03/27/2008, -0/+10S.W.A.T.? Like, Sith Warrior Attack Team?
- SirWho, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1Yeah, shut down the city too!
- danconia, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1I don't think they teach lightsaber skills at the Police Academy... sorry. Only someone skilled in the use of the force will be able to ward off the Sith.
- CyberKiL, on 03/27/2008, -0/+6Too bad that wasn't an advertisement for the live-action tv series. I'm getting pretty bored with TV lately.
- XristosAnesti, on 03/27/2008, -6/+3I hope George Lucas has a horrible accident soon to prevent him from actually going through with that live-action thing. I think it's going to suck really, really bad...
- NeoSporin, on 03/27/2008, -2/+3...

- acex23, on 03/27/2008, -26/+1that's not even remotely cool.
- yensed, on 03/27/2008, -2/+33I was expecting better.
- jonathantneal, on 03/27/2008, -0/+11Yea, it's creative, but I was honestly expecting a handle, and with a less 'commercial' font.
- C0leBurns, on 03/27/2008, -0/+13That's what she said.
- sentinel106, on 03/27/2008, -8/+3it's 2002 all over again...
- 9thisisme, on 03/27/2008, -2/+1nice.
- simpletwist, on 03/27/2008, -1/+9I'd like to dress up as Darth Vader and work at McDonald's for a day.
- Otto, on 03/27/2008, -2/+7Why not dress up as Darth Vader and then try to clean the Black Sea using a Brita filter?
Oh wait, it's been done: http://www.danielbozhkov.com/ - ploop, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2http://www.blamesociety.net/chadvader/index.php

- FizzanoMatrix, on 03/27/2008, -3/+1i think they rotoscoped that pic in Gimp. April 4th..?
- Kucher, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1Spike TV is playing the whole series starting with episode 1, beginning April 4th.
- ApokalypseNow, on 03/27/2008, -0/+52Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid.
- robwooldridge, on 03/27/2008, -0/+11FTMFW. Oh, and Han shot first.
- chetosbourne, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1You don't believe in the Force, do you?
- Dr00pieS, on 03/27/2008, -1/+1LIES!!! Greedo shot first, Han responded in self defense!

- warispeace21, on 03/27/2008, -4/+5Aren't the red ones actually used by sith?
- wdfadude, on 03/27/2008, -1/+2That's exactly what I was thinking. I wonder who botched this one up?
- daRoach, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2We can be sure someone got fired for that one.
- wdfadude, on 03/27/2008, -1/+2That's exactly what I was thinking. I wonder who botched this one up?
- mogdor, on 03/27/2008, -0/+6Obviously, whoever supplied the sabers had the foresight to include red ones just in case the sith forgot to bring their own..........
- HalfGiraffe, on 03/27/2008, -0/+22In other news, bus shelter vandalism has skyrocketed.
- mogdor, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2So uncivilized.
- ericcire, on 03/27/2008, -1/+2***** that noise! If I get to be a Jedi, I get to have my lightsaber at all times.
- ExRe, on 03/27/2008, -0/+7Just lights?
Would have been cool if it would have actually looked like a light saber instead of just being some light bulbs. - R0ck3t33r, on 03/27/2008, -0/+7Adi Gallia, a member of the Jedi Council on Coruscant, used a red lightsaber. For those of you complaining about accuracy, the Sith weren't the only ones who used red 'sabers.
- monka, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1jesus god
- Jethris, on 03/27/2008, -1/+1Someone really needs to get out and enjoy life. Maybe find a girl?
- ericcire, on 03/27/2008, -5/+1***** that noise. If I get to be a Jedi, I get to have my lightsaber at all times.
- ericcire, on 03/27/2008, -1/+3Damnit.
- cli006, on 03/27/2008, -0/+4Just don't put this in a town full of drunk college kids, I'm sure it would get broken into very quickly.

- mgd4, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1cool...

http://www.spymac.com/details/?2355370 - BearinG, on 04/14/2008, -0/+1I usually don't care to point out typos or spelling mistakes.. but who doesn't know how to spell Star Wars ? I mean not only is it wrong in the Title, but the description has STARS Wars too ..
