- ihavetop, on 04/07/2009, -0/+27Beam me down under scotty!
- TheDamnBatman, on 04/07/2009, -1/+25It actually premiered in Texas as a surprise screening for fans going to see Wrath of Khan.
- johnomaz, on 04/07/2009, -0/+17Which also means it will be out worldwide tomorrow or the next...on bittorrent. Still though, I'll go see it in the theatre. STAR TREK FTW!!!

Unofficial premier in Texas last night. And while I still have some reservations, it sounds like it's a damn sight better than what has been said so far. - slightlyoffbeat, on 04/07/2009, -0/+11"ya! way to go film industry! You rock! Thanks for the movie! I plan to pirate it!"
- troyallen069, on 04/07/2009, -0/+8Doesn't come close to this
http://trekmovie.com/2009/04/07/video-and-photos-f ... - thetrev, on 04/07/2009, -0/+7My heart bleeds, now America and Europe know how Australia feel like for every. single. release. EVER.
- rodted2, on 04/07/2009, -4/+9ThePirateBay anyone?
- Hardataq, on 04/07/2009, -0/+5Tyler Perry in: "Madea Goes to Space!"
- zlopez, on 04/07/2009, -0/+4It's almost hard to believe that not only is this movie going to be opening in theaters in under a month, but the summer movie season is upon us.
- 12340987, on 04/07/2009, -1/+4why does it come out in australia first?
- lcarsdeveloper, on 04/08/2009, -0/+2What do you mean "a month"? We're usually a solid YEAR behind the USA. In fact, I could order Stargate SG-1 on DVD from Amazon.com, have it shipped here to Australia and watch the whole season before it aired on Australian Free to Air. If I had Pay TV (Foxtel) I wouldn't have had to wait so long, but the cost is a joke.
- jordanlgta, on 04/07/2009, -0/+2You won't have people talking on their cell phones or teenagers making noise if you see it the first day or two it is out. About going to pee, I suggest seeing a urologist.
You are so cool. - deathandtaverns, on 04/08/2009, -0/+2I suppose you could say its been a long road getting from there to here
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 04/07/2009, -0/+2What's been said so far? I've only heard good things out of the unbiased reviewers. The only people I've heard saying anything negative are people who haven't seen it and are just used to hating anything new that's Star Trek.
- remino, on 04/07/2009, -0/+2For once the Australians get to see some new Star Trek before the rest of the world. Remember they were usually getting new episodes of Star Trek series (including DS9 and Voyager) at least a month later than us.
- dtele, on 04/08/2009, -0/+2Just because ;P
- AtomicTheory, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1So I was down under this bitch the other night, right?
No, no I wasn't. I apologize. - inactive, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1I wish I was down under.
- inverted7001, on 04/07/2009, -4/+5I think it's neat the film industry is giving Australia a lil sneak-peak. They're usually the last to see anything... and my brother's down there at the moment. He's more likely to beat up a Trekkie than to watch the movie but it's all good. Personally, I'll just wait for the leaked work-print.
- zephc, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1\\//_
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1Screw that, I'm going to see it in IMAX.
- dsmx, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1surely if their releasing it early they're confident that the people who saw it won't think it's ***** and tell all there mates, who then tell there mates and so on..
- dullnation, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1The only workprint I've even come across is the Wolverine movie, what other well known movies have been leaked in that way?
- Boofster, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1I still think it will suck hard.
The fact they are releasing it early only gives incentive to pirates.
It will probably be uploaded tomorrow. - Xyrx, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1That article was the worst written and poorly put together article I think I've ever read. Please give me 5 minutes of my life back.
- fangor, on 04/08/2009, -0/+1Oh gee...an internet person called me a dick. I'm glad you're here to tell me right from wrong.
***** off. - Daxx22, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1That's what I was referring to, the people bitching who haven't seen it. I'm GLAD to see real, positive reviews.
- inactive, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1the way they are promoting this movie is completely ass backwards logic. who ever is in charge should be fired.
- enkideridu, on 06/14/2009, -0/+1An article from Apr 7, 2009 ???
- dtele, on 04/08/2009, -0/+1Really?
Details please? - AAEXP, on 04/08/2009, -0/+1I was one of the lucky fans to be surprised with the ENTIRE premiere *and* a live appearance of the writers and Leonard Nimoy! The video of it and more details can be found here: http://tinyurl.com/nimoyalamo It was a fantastic event. Loved it.
PS - Waited 2 1/2 hours in line for this and the male to female ratio seemed eerily similar to what it's like on digg. Except there was a woman or two in line!!! - fragomatik, on 04/08/2009, -0/+1"...the couple of hundred fans failed to fill the sprawling Harbour forecourt, which organisers expected to be packed."
Perhaps I've just been particularly busy this last month or two, but it seems to me that this event wasn't advertised nearly enough.
Don't get me wrong I'm not a trekkie or anything like that, but I *am* from Sydney. A Star Trek world premiere with a few of the actors attending may have been worth catching...if only I'd known about it :( - Spetz, on 04/08/2009, -0/+1This just means that it will be pirated immensely as SciFi fans know how to use bittorrent.
When will hollywood learn that it needs to do simultanous world-wide releases to mitigate piracy?! - Greengoo, on 04/07/2009, -1/+1Umm hi. Welcome to the internet.
- Psybient, on 04/08/2009, -0/+0baby stealing dingo's what?
- jordanlgta, on 04/07/2009, -1/+1You're a dick if you are just going to watch a pirated camera version.
HOWEVER, if you are going to watch the pirated camera version AND are going to see it in theaters, then you're ok. - greenlight2001, on 04/07/2009, -1/+1Live long... and prosper \/
- dullnation, on 04/07/2009, -2/+2Yeah because workprints are leaked every time a movie comes out /s
- TylerDuhrdan, on 04/07/2009, -1/+1I guess I am a dick. And I might buy it on DVD if it is worth it, however I am not going to sit in a crowded theater, with a few hundred other people talking on cell phones, teenagers making noise, the inability to pause it so I can go pee if I want, or waste my money if it sucked.
Yes I will download it without going to the theater. Every pirated version I watched was a preview for the DVD, I purchased 80% of the movies I downloaded. - okcoolok1234, on 04/07/2009, -1/+1Nerds + Star Trek = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HdXtMrnafs
- remino, on 04/08/2009, -0/+0A whole year? Sorry, I had no idea. Extra reason to enjoy the new Star Trek movie before the rest of the world can!
- pstroll, on 04/07/2009, -3/+2international fan "furore"??
Dirty limeys are taking over Digg - fangor, on 04/07/2009, -2/+1Now I just gotta wait for a cam :)
- slochewie, on 04/07/2009, -3/+1stoked it's out in australia 1st. then maybe the r5 or dvdscr will be out before the US release date. Not saying pirating is good. Just saying movie theaters cater to midgets and my 6'6" frame cannot handle tiny ass movie theater seats.
- MerchantofPanic, on 04/07/2009, -5/+0What has Oztrailya got that I havent got.... oh thats right.... Star Trek.....and baby stealing Dingo's.

What is Digg?
