I had to upload it to my dropbox because I could not find a image host that would host the full res ( 2788 x 2302 ) 1.8 MB. Firstly yes it is because she is hot and a hot women on a poster draws interest.
Secondly it used the colour red to complete the trinity of Starfleet colours (Blue and Yellow were already used) - Bones was blue and from a design point of view using the 3 differnet colours looks more iconic. They could have used Scotty who was red also - but when you need to choose between Scotty or Uhura for a poster then its not really a hard choice. - boombye, on 08/05/2008, -0/+4@pkarpenko, speaking of Romulans, he's in some movie called Romulus too..
