- opticwind, on 08/28/2008, -0/+18Far side the movie? What the hell would that be like? A 2 hour slide-show?
- prakashpv, on 08/27/2008, -0/+18Poor kid has to go through a whole lot of gel for this trilogy just to keep his hair up
- Chairboy, on 08/28/2008, -0/+17Gotta say, I was hoping for Russell Crowe as Haddock....
- inactive, on 08/28/2008, -0/+14I can't wait to see Andy Serkis' potrayal of Captain Haddock
- smurfsahoy, on 08/28/2008, -1/+13Because Tintin has a storyline?
- scubastza, on 08/28/2008, -0/+10Could have sworn this said, "Spielberg Still Taking First *****..."
- bmson, on 08/28/2008, -0/+10There is no shame in owning a TinTin books.
I'm thinking about buying the whole collection soon.
But TinTin is a very European comic.
TinTin is much more "grown up" than Curious George, Inspector Gadget etc. - fpaudon, on 08/28/2008, -0/+9There's nothing obscure about Tintin
- santasing, on 08/28/2008, -0/+9Great news! I have been a big fan of TinTin ever since I was a kid. Still a fan of the art style.
- inactive, on 08/28/2008, -0/+9That would almost work. I seem to remember a part in one of the tintin books where Capt. Haddock hits somebody over the head with a telephone.
- GlitchEnzo, on 08/28/2008, -4/+13Not gonna lie. I thought this had something to do with Rintintin. I've never heard of Tintin.
- munawarali2, on 08/28/2008, -0/+9Tintin is amazing. One of the few comics I can give my kids and just ignore them. (Aside from the heavy drinking)
- inactive, on 12/07/2008, -0/+7I wonder how different both their takes on the characters would be
... - inactive, on 08/28/2008, -1/+7I used to read TinTin back in High School in French Class. there was also Asterix the little viking that fought the Romans...
- theatheist, on 08/28/2008, -0/+6I grew up on Tintin, i really hope they do a really good job on it.
Tintin comics that are movie worthy:
Flight 714
Explorers on the Moon
Prisoners of the Sun - smurfsahoy, on 08/28/2008, -1/+7Tintin is in no way whatsoever a children's book. They're constantly shooting people and breaking the law and the dog drinks his own body weight in whisky almost every book. None of the themes are child-oriented. Where are you getting that from?
- duceolsen, on 08/28/2008, -0/+6This the only comic i read when i was little, my dad hated it because the captain was always drunk and saying stuff that i would repeat, like blundering typhoon and billions and billions of blue blistering barnicles.
... yeah it is still my favorite comic of all time, you can find them in hardcover books of three. - inactive, on 08/28/2008, -0/+6The Gauls were *not* Viking descendants, they were Celts, a totally different ethnic group.
- bmson, on 08/28/2008, -0/+5Please DON'T do animation
- smurfsahoy, on 08/28/2008, -0/+5These tintin stories have never been on film before.
- juliandunbar11, on 08/28/2008, -0/+4..but the cartoon was so good!
- jorichter, on 08/28/2008, -0/+4Tintin vs. Nazis
- ecualung, on 08/28/2008, -0/+4Why does Spielberg keep putting off his Abraham Lincoln movie starring Liam Neeson? Oh well.
- NotOptium, on 08/28/2008, -1/+5Oh hell yeah. TinTin was one of my favorite shows but none of my friends remember it. Please don't ***** it up. And please, for the love of god, do not let Michael Bay anywhere near this movie.
- theatheist, on 08/28/2008, -0/+4Tin tin is one of the most cherished comic series in the world.
- smurfsahoy, on 08/28/2008, -0/+4Haha, brilliant! Or Sean Connery.
- bmson, on 08/28/2008, -0/+4That's why it's created by Belgian
- MOJIRA, on 08/28/2008, -0/+4Tintin is the *****.
Go read something. - MOJIRA, on 08/28/2008, -0/+4Nah, he's taken plenty of *****; most recently Indiana Jones 4 and before that War of the Worlds.
- gluecode, on 08/28/2008, -0/+4Billions of blue blistering hobbits!
- juliandunbar11, on 08/28/2008, -0/+3I like using the reply button too.
- ogaudemar, on 08/28/2008, -0/+3I am so excited to see Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg adapt the best comic book franchise of all times. But I am a little worried that they are using motion-capture to do so... Motion picture characters are fine as a special effect inside a live action film (see Gollum in the LOTR trilogy obviously...) but have never been really convincing on stand-alone. At least, not yet...
- bmson, on 08/28/2008, -0/+3There is nothing weird about it...
The first TinTin book was published 1929.
The world was a different place back then.
We can't change history but we can create the future. - mahomet, on 08/28/2008, -2/+5ConquistadorFor: Which Jack are you talking about.
- smurfsahoy, on 08/28/2008, -0/+3Tintin I'd say is significantly less obscure than the golden compass, althouth neither are "obscure" really.
- chamberlanderic, on 08/28/2008, -0/+3watch out for the CGI dog!!!
- smurfsahoy, on 08/28/2008, -0/+2Professor Calculus then?
- jorichter, on 08/28/2008, -0/+2Hopefully both would be true to the original.
- jorichter, on 08/28/2008, -0/+2Snowy is called "Struppi" in Germany...
- jaythree9, on 08/28/2008, -0/+2Billions of Blistering Blue Barnacles!
ah crap someone beat me to it. - IG64, on 08/28/2008, -0/+2I would've said for Nick Frost and Simon Pegg to be Captain Haddock and Tintin respectively. They might not be the perfect character fit, but that wouldn't make it any less awesome.
- jorichter, on 08/28/2008, -2/+4Honestly, I saw that movie baked and thought it was pretty amazing at the time.
- Owwmykneecap, on 08/28/2008, -0/+2Tintin goes to the congo...
- ToastPop, on 04/17/2009, -0/+2There is a torrent floating around with every book scanned... :)
- inactive, on 08/28/2008, -0/+2he wore that viking looking helmet...
- lamejoketeller, on 08/28/2008, -0/+2Bad news...I hear it's gonna be CGI
It would have been best as live-action, set in the 60s, in French with subtitles. - Andrwmorph, on 08/28/2008, -0/+1Wow! Blast from the past! I read all the Tintin stories back when I was like 8.
- rb89, on 08/29/2008, -0/+1Whoa. I used to read Tintin books in French class. I'm interested.
