- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+35Anyone who wasn't convinced by Topher can insert their foot into their mouth. Whether thats padding or not, the man looks like Eddie Brock and thats all that counts!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+28He looks like a shorter, less bulky version of brock. Brock/venom from the comic books is huge, even for a comic character. It would have been nice if they could find someone at least a little taller and more muscular than him, but I'm sure it would have been more difficult. In any case, given his past work he'll probably still do a good job.
- CannedMango, on 10/12/2007, -4/+27This completely makes up for the Green Goblin costume

yes and yes - CannedMango, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Wait? Those AREN'T completed shots? There isn't going to be an epic gymnasium mat battle?
- cp101, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Venom doesn't shoot web from his fist anymore? Frack!
- fowleryo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12my mind = blown.
- joaob, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13I'm thoroughly interested in this story.....
- Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9"Comic book movies are gay, except for Batman"
You've obviously missed Batman & Robin... - mywhitenoise, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13I might be alone in saying this, but Topher is an excellent actor.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I hope you're wrong, but you're probably right. Give him at least 10 minutes of screen time!
- guitarh3ro, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10That looks really badass. I'm glad they were able to pull off a GOOD Venom and didn't screw it up.
- contradictator, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Topher Grace isn't the most muscular guy in the world, but he did beef up noticeably for the role, it's apparent in his shoulders. So at least he's trying. And I get the feeling he'll pull off the darker, mean-spirited anti-Parker thing well.
- savedyankees, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Nice. Raimi's eye for this kind of stuff is undeniable, especially now that he's got access to Columbia's coffers.
- LucerinRed, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8you realize, sam raami knows what he's doing for the most part, and therefore venom is only going to be in the very end of the movie, and we will see none/next to none confrontation between spidey and venom.
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -0/+2Yeah, it's definitely padding. It's cool, though. Except...I wish they'd get rid of the "scale" look on Venom.
- MrDeflok, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Here's a mirror with ALL of the images...

They also have some other neat Spider-man 3 coverage there too. - Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7Eddie Brock: Tall (6'5"). Big. No, BIG. We're talking nearly 350lbs+ of muscle. Naturally blonde. DUMB.
John Cena would have been perfect. Howie Long would have been an interesting choice.
Topher Grace? Not so much. Especially with the height, skinny neck, and bad dye job.
Venom is a WWF wrestler, not a high school wrestler. - ArtMonkeyWorld, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Spolier Alert* I.E. Don't read as this may ruin something for you.
Actually there was spoiler description of the movie a few weeks back that said basically,Venom will be torn from Peter about halfway through the movie, then after overtaking Eddie, and giving us a decent character arc for him as he succumbs to Venom, he will kidnap Mary Jane, and along with Sandman use her as bait to lure Peter into a final battle. He knows to join with Sandman because he was with peter and felt how much the finding the "actual" killer of his Uncle affects him, and he knows that Mary Jane is a weak point, to use the two ideas against him at the same time will mess with him psychologically leaving him more likely to make mistakes. But in the end, Harry believe it or not, will come back, after realizing he was wrong to attack Peter, and will help save him, but unfortunately he will be killed in this battle.
This can partially be seen in the trailers. In one trailer you can clearly see Peter in the torn version of his costume
( every movie he loses one half of his mask, anyone else notice that?) anyway, you see him beat up in a black web. You can also clearly see Mary Jane in a close up with black webbing behind her, and she looks terrified, and in the most recent clip from Heros Sandman is huge, disfigured, and in front of a whole mess of black webbing, fighting Spidey in his red and blues. Also, showing the whole fight with Peter and Harry on Monday would be a pretty stupid thing to do, unless this happens withing the first 20 minutes or so, thus leaving plenty of Harry and Peters story for the rest of the movie. This has been confirmed in the past on sites like Darkhorizons .com, and aintitcoolnews. Things can change between now and the premier, but rest assured, Venom is in this movie, and he will get a decent amount of screen time. : ) - Badaudio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wait wait, let me get this straight, how many villians are there in spider-man 3?
- levyjl1988, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Are the images from this book?

He would have worked great. I was thinking they may have been able to get away with casting a professional wrestler/bodybuilder for the part, for body type alone, if there were only like 3 or 4 lines in the whole movie. Those guys are all 6'5+ and steroid filled muscle heads already (Scott Steiner, Brock Lesner, or even John Cena would be perfect). Of course movies featuring wrestlers usually suck, but part of the reason venom is such a good bad guy is because he is a physically menacing character. The guy towers over everyone and is all upper body. He dwarfs Spiderman. That's one of the reasons Lou Ferrigno made such a great Hulk..he looked like one!
This guy is probably my size or a little smaller. - johnnysaucepn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't know if the synopsis posted below is accurate, but Venom will have to play a bigger part in the story than just a casual appearance at the end. Firstly, because of the hype and publicity given to Topher and the part, but it's also an integral part of the motif.
The black costume is an aggressive, selfish influence - it represents all the bad things that would make Peter ignore his all-important responsibility. Even Greater Power minus Even Greater Responsibility equals Corruption and all that. Brock, according to vague accounts, is being drawn as a Peter Parker-analogue, only without the stabilising influence of Uncle Ben (the Sandman subplot comes in here, but I won't talk about that). In other words, Brock cannot resist the pull of the dark side, and is perfect to become a selfish, aggressive, evil version of Spider-Man. I'm guessing this is why the production shots make Venom look that little bit more humanoid and a little less alien, although I'm hoping for a lot of CGI tentacles. The fundamental theme of the film seems to be that fight between Peter and his dark side, which turns into a literal fight. - Eallan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I was hoping he would. But i'm a total ***** geek.
- spookyttws, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I totally agree, I think Tohper can convey a hate for Parker well, a hundred times better than the wooden acting of James Franco.
- quick5pnt0cobra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice! He doesn't look nearly as bulky as he did in the comics though.
- borb, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2It's kind of funny that this story is hosted by filmwad and when I saw some of those pics I pretty much blew my...*ahem* y'know what...good story.
- cameron074, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@elranzer
what? are you saying batman and robin wasn't gay? you couldn't possibly think that. - zimlordofhumans, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0omg stfu about venom greengoblin didnt look like the greengoblin , venom is gonna be dope every artist has his own verson of a character this is how they have decided to make venom look, in the x-men movies there was SO many altercations. deal with it its hollywood dont like it go ask mom and daddy for 100 million to make your own verson of spiderman. ps theres gonna be a 4 way battle spidey, venom, harry, sandman hope you will enjoy :)
- Rodalli, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4I don't understand why people that don't like the above shots are being dugg down. Those shots suck balls. Big ones. In fact, the balls that these images are sucking may very well belong to the comic book version of Venom, because they are just so huge and massive and scary. Whereas the above shots are...not.
Come on guys, that looks nothing like Venom. It looks more like Carnage in Venoms symbiote.
And outside of likeness, it just looks gaudy and non-menacing. Bad, bad Sam Raimi, bad. No! No treat for you. - SonicBoom1000, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Venom is ***** cool...Topher Grace is not...
- DNAspark99, on 10/12/2007, -7/+6Fantastic. But i still think venom won't make an appearance until the final few minutes of the film. -Logically, he can't. Peter Parker gets the symbiote, rocks it for a while, uses it's new-found capabilities to do battle with his enemies, before he eventually figures out it's 'taking over', so, off to the bellfry, where he painfully rips it from his soul. The scorned symbiote drips down and finds an equally scorned Eddie Brock, mindmelds and takes hold, forming the awesome-looking Venom seen here. Venom snarls, and snaps at the camera, fade to black, 'to be continued', roll credits.
And from what I've heard, Raimi isn't even involved in Spiderman 4. doh! - Toddbrew1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Hangin out........down the street. The same ol thing we did last week..................Oh wait ......nevermind.
Yes, I had a nice veggie sandwich with extra Topher Grace on it. Kinda bland. - masonexcell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Topher Grace would have been better sticking with "That 70's show" instead of completly turning his back on the series. Really. Come on this guy is over rated and all of the Venom fans out there (including myself) died just a little bit on the inside from these screenshots and the horrible casting for this character......Oh yeah on another note Kirsten Dunst, not really the MJ I had in mind either.

That looks like utter *****, but that's probably still in the transition stage between Eddie Brock and Venom, hopefully when we see it all on the big screen it will look better. - khoa1708, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2shoulda casted goldberg lol
- fugtastic, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4Topher grace... big... /cry
- davodavo, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2@omgwtfroflmaox2
I agree. I'm sure Grace will do a great job, but for a while I was half-heartedly (and half-jokingly) holding out for Nathan Jones (giant guy from Fearless, The Protector, and Troy). - fowleryo, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4I actually thought those were the best
- RUFiO006, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1http://www.filmwad.com/fw_images/venom/venom05.jpg
This version of Venom seems a lot more Spiderman-like than the one we saw in that bootleg trailer. - LanceWindu, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3@CannedMango
Not completed shots, but completed costumes. *gasp* - swordphish, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Am I the only one getting tired of seeing Venom photos on the Digg frontpage everyday? If not I'll just stfu...
Just leak the damned screener already! :-P
Btw, Sony movie execs are reading the comments section, smile! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Oh come on dude...he was the star of notable films such as Traffic (Benecio who?), DAte W/ Tad Hamilton (Kate who?), In Good Company (Dennis who?). If there's anything the man can do, he can act.
You know what, nevermind. I wrote all that crap, and couldn't convince myself. Honestly I'm just hoping he gets the anger part right. We know he's going to be decent as a jealous photographer. - LanceWindu, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2@fowleryo
How can you honestly think those are the best pictures of Venom? It looks nothing like him. - cannibal666, on 10/12/2007, -15/+4Damn I was so gonna see this movie before I found out who was playing venom. Oh well, I heard Daredevil 2 is coming out soon.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/12/2007, -13/+1Daredevil 2? Haha!
Comic book movies are gay, except for Batman (Burton, and Nolan) and Spiderman films. - interg12, on 10/12/2007, -18/+2when stories like this hit the front page, i always wonder if pay-for-digg sites are reall......
- sterntastic223, on 10/12/2007, -22/+4But if his acting sucks in the flick, who cares what he looks like?
- savedyankees, on 10/12/2007, -36/+1Are you saying you watch SPIDERMAN for the acting? Is Tobey Maguire able to convince you that he is the Spiderman?
