- missjb, on 11/02/2008, -0/+29You know what? I'm glad Spiderman is finally taking chances. That's what this is. They are giving a great writer a chance to paint a new canvass here and I like it
- thephosphorbox, on 11/02/2008, -1/+29So which 4 villains are they going to have in this one? :)
- jboitnott, on 11/01/2008, -0/+18Lindsey-Abaire won't have to do much to pull out a a better script than the third film. Hopefully it approaches the excellence that was the second film.
- decx, on 11/01/2008, -1/+19maybe i won't fell asleep this time
but then again... maybe i do
i like tobey maguire with his fear and loathing haircut...that was hilarious - hantata, on 11/02/2008, -3/+18Yeah 3 was a pile of cheese. 4 looks to be better..
- inactive, on 11/02/2008, -5/+20i doubt anyone would be able to save this movie from being a total turd like part 3
- juliandunbar11, on 11/02/2008, -0/+15Needs more dance sequences.
- mantaray25, on 11/01/2008, -2/+12I've seen Lindsay-Abaire's work in ROBOTS (he wrote it) and I read his screenplay for INKHEART. Both seem competent, but I'm dubious of his ability to do Spider-Man justice. Have to stay tuned on this one. Truth be told, he's likely to get the first pass on the script and then it'll be rewritten and gang-written numerous times until it's finally "camera-ready." Interesting choice.
- inactive, on 11/02/2008, -0/+9no more song and dance scenes?
- ThePenrod, on 11/02/2008, -0/+8I really wish, rather than getting a big name behind their comic book movies, Marvel hired script writers and directors that actually understand their characters.
- wowsah156, on 11/02/2008, -0/+6Just one thing, keep Avi Arad out of the production. Its because of him that Raimi had to put in the Venom sub plot, that ruined the overall story in Spidey 3. Raimi needs a sub clause in his contract to say that Arad keeps his nose out of the story and directing.
- MillionsLivio, on 11/02/2008, -1/+6If four were to start a trilogy based on the Maximum Carnage saga it would be ***** awesome. They really need to do it justice though, have Carnage going on a killing spree in New York and make it epic,
- sKiLLa182, on 11/02/2008, -0/+5Your headline sucked. You took a piece of info from the main article and made it the headline. The big news was the Pulitzer Prize winning writer.
HEY GUYZ, BIG NEWZ HEER! TOBY MAGUIRE AND KIRSTEN 'SNAGGLE TOOTH' DUNST ARE IN THE NEXT SPIDER-MAN! Anyone see that coming? Yeah, me neither. - pedo, on 11/02/2008, -0/+4possible bad guys: vulture, kingpin, electro, black cat... but my vote goes to morbius. that would be badass.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morbius,_the_Living_V ... - insomniacal, on 11/02/2008, -3/+7So the fact that you can tack ?? at the end of any URL to duplicate a story already dugg should go without mention?
- diplo, on 11/02/2008, -0/+4A more accurate headline would be "Stagnant Economy Hurts Everyone : Brilliant Pulitzer Prize Winning Writers now forced to write hack movie sequels to pay the bills"
- petala, on 11/02/2008, -0/+4spider-man 3 sucks big time, but then I go to imdb checking box office chart for spider-man 3, holy batman its ***** at #12. Spider-Man 3 (2007) $885,430,303 for all-time worldwide box office! I say, NO way we're going to get great movie again, just some same old ***** again with super big special effects and cheesy love story. oh and yeah ROBOTS script, good lord...
- jumanous, on 11/02/2008, -1/+4As long as there is no emo spidey I'll be happy.
- inactive, on 11/02/2008, -0/+3If he kills off Kirsten Dunst 5 minutes in then he gets my help winning the Oscar.
- VegasJerryAtrik, on 11/02/2008, -0/+3they should focus on a new MJ, Kirsten Dunst is awful
- dennyzartman, on 11/02/2008, -0/+3Michael Chabon took a crack at Spiderman 2, and the studio tossed it in the trash. I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happened here. Publicity now, then replaced by a hack writer, and all the Spiderman fans will go see it anyway.
- jack12345678910, on 11/02/2008, -0/+3well theres no way it can be worst than spiderman 3. prob one of the worst action movie of all time.
- AFelsinger, on 11/02/2008, -2/+5seems like a waste of talent to me
- harrison5394, on 11/02/2008, -0/+2Spider-man 2 was much better than Spider-man. The writing, the acting, everything. There was genuine pathos in that script. ***** Spider-man 3 though.
- sindex, on 11/02/2008, -0/+2This sounds like just as great an idea as it was to have Ang Lee direct the first Hulk movie. Oh wait.... right.
- SanFranMan, on 11/02/2008, -0/+2So who's the villain? They've already set up The Lizard (Peter's one-armed professor) and since Venom appeared perhaps Carnage can too.
- jack12345678910, on 11/02/2008, -0/+2sometimes sequels are even better, xmen 2. terminator 2.
- pedo, on 11/02/2008, -2/+43 really did suck. lets finally have a decent crossover. hulk, x-men, iron man, daredevil, ghost rider, punisher... so many possibilities.
- ATLien74, on 11/02/2008, -0/+2Welcome to Digg.
- gutenpress, on 11/02/2008, -0/+2This is just like putting lipstick on a spider .... dontcha know.
- phalanxcronos, on 11/02/2008, -0/+2Exactly right, $50million to do both Spider-man 4 and Spider-man 5
http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_an ... - ATLien74, on 11/02/2008, -0/+2The Lizard is the obvious one. Carnage would be would be the ***** though.
- DickyT83, on 11/02/2008, -3/+5God I hope it doesn't suck. And if it does, atleast do me the honor of swallowing.
- projjalc, on 11/02/2008, -0/+2"should have"
"Spider-Man"
"at least"
- your friendly neighbourhood grammar nazi - andrewlotta, on 11/02/2008, -0/+2I thought Tobey Maguire was done with these movies.
They must have offered him at LEAST 25 mil per movie.
(They are possibly going to film 5 and 6 back to back). - revenz, on 11/02/2008, -0/+2err isnt evil dead 3 "army of darkness"?
- joshzam, on 11/02/2008, -0/+1I'm currently directing a production of Lindsay-Abaire's Fuddy Meers - one of the funniest plays I've ever read. Everyone seems to be latching on to this idea that his works are very character driven and will therefore delve deeper into Peter Parker psyche, but what most people don't seem to realize is that he tends to stay away from realism in his writings and emphatically embraces the absurd. This could add a very interesting flavor to the mix :)
- chokeaduck, on 11/02/2008, -0/+1Maybe they'll throw out the majority of the script, like when Michael Chabon wrote a screenplay for Spiderman 2. Oh yeah, he won a Pulitzer too.
- MeatyMcBeef, on 11/02/2008, -0/+1Oh. I expected it to say "Jk!"
- stockjones, on 11/02/2008, -0/+1Ahh damnit Sam Raimi I just want Evil Dead 3.
- Evildudetx, on 11/02/2008, -4/+5Sorry, if they don't bring Carnage into this one, then call it over.
- daschupa, on 11/02/2008, -0/+1This kinda scares me, I keep getting flashbacks of Ang Lee's The Hulk.
- bpeacock22, on 11/03/2008, -0/+1I heard a rumor that his physics teacher is on for a reprising role and ultimately becomes the Lizard when he messes around with regrowth technology...or some such.
- inactive, on 11/02/2008, -1/+2The problem with spider-man movies is that they're too child-oriented, they're not deep and certainly not masterpieces. The first one is the only one of the franchise that you could consider good, not a masterpiece but good. When they realized that their most devoted fans were 10 year olds it went downhill.
- joshzam, on 11/02/2008, -0/+1Have you ever even read anything by Lindsay-Abaire?
- LAZZOR, on 11/03/2008, -0/+1Eddie Brock died if I recall correctly. Doesn't Dr.Connors still have the piece of the symobiote that Peter gave him?
- Morose7, on 11/02/2008, -2/+3Ang Lee's Hulk was great, he breathed life into a very one dimensional character which the new film relapses back into, sigh.
- dezman2003, on 11/02/2008, -2/+2Would you like some cheese to go with that whine?
- AlexPoll, on 11/03/2008, -0/+0Full movies

I will not watch Spiderman until Toby Macguire stops playing the lead role. He's just so goddamn impotent I loathe him. -
