- celestial, on 10/11/2007, -9/+48more like Spider man 3 remains number 1 despite how horrible it was
- whiteanvil, on 10/11/2007, -4/+32it lurches from very very good to really rally bad. as far as badness goes here is my short list
- emo hair
- the point where spiderman turns into a scene from the mask and toby macguire starts dancing like a jack ass
- the final battle and the lame narration from the news crews who were trying to highten the suspence by making it seem that spiderman wasnt going to survive......its like the ***** titanic, we know it is going to sink.....we know spiderman is going to survive.
- how many times did people get whacked in the face
- how many times does that poor harry die...anyone
- too long, no pace to the movie.....the non-action points in the movie do not do much to drive the story along beyond lurching from one tired cliche to another
- emo hair
- emo hair
- why make the sandman and the green goblin lame by making them kinda/sorta good.......let evil be evil and let spiderman kick their evil asses
- for the last 25 minutes of the movie spiderman is ***** CRYING
for me those are the reasons I didnt like the movie - kingkilr, on 10/11/2007, -1/+19... add in international.
- ghostlywind, on 10/11/2007, -4/+20i still want an hour and 45 minutes of my life back, the other 45 minutes is because i liked the fight scenes.
- Spo8, on 10/11/2007, -5/+21Two sub-par villains fighting for time (a battle which they both lose), stupid, stupid, emo spidey part, cheesy "climactic battle," and two words: dance sequences.
- calgone, on 10/11/2007, -7/+23Two words...emo hair.
- Simcom, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13I thought the cheesiest part of the movie was that scene towards the end where spidey swoops down with a giant american flag in the backround. Not only was the flag the ***** looking CGI in the movie, but it was so out of place - It reminded me of that ***** CGI they air on fox news right before and after commercials.
- EGOvoruhk, on 10/11/2007, -3/+15It still has plenty of time, along with DVD/Blu-ray sales
- ChromaVita, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14Wow how could Spiderman even stand up against movies like "Delta Farce"?
- CannedMango, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14Well... it's made 622 million worldwide, so it's paid for itself already. Unfortunately that will just help studios reaffirm their belief that they can change source material whenever they want without any reprocussions.
- JCSaint, on 10/11/2007, -6/+15This was the worst movie I went to the theater to see in a long long time. Horrendous.
- drafhk, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8I know this is going to sound cliche, but a 60% drop is predictable. It's somewhat like X-Men 3 (but on a larger scale): good enough to watch once, but, for most people, not good enough to justify a repeat-viewing.
- EugineMW, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Eventhough it made all this money. Will it win any oscars? I highly doubt.
- reed311, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10Important news.... if you're a shareholder.
- HydraulicToast, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8i wish that happened to me.
- Spo8, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8Why is the worst (by far) movie of the series the one that's a smash success?
- borchard76, on 10/11/2007, -6/+11I hate to say it, but this weekend brings Shrek 3, which will eat into the potential sales and lower actual sales.
After Pirates hits, virtually no one will be going for Spidey 3. - CanadianGuy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4This movie just demonstrates how piracy isn't the problem, the problem is the music and movie industry producing something worth buying.
- whiteanvil, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7I just see this as a clear indication of everyone going to see it once.....realizing that it is was absolute ***** and them NOT going to see it again.
Spiderman 3 is the phantom menace of Spiderman movies...filled with so much promise....ruined by lameness....except Bruce Campbell, he rocks....nuff said - SanTe, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Hail to the king baby.
- norman619, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5Yeah. It blew! What was up with the whole Jazz Bar dance thing? Seemed soo out of place and so bad it was funny. Most of the movie actually felt like this. Kinda wish I had waited for it to come on on DVD did a torrent preview before plunking down my hard earned cash on this turkey. If they make a Spiderman 4 I can safely say it will be a movie I will have to pass.
- donkz, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Every decent sized movie experiences a 45+ percent drop in sales on 2nd weekend. Bigger first opening - bigger the drop. Nothing amazing here. Next item.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5 What good does knowing how much money a film makes do me? How many people saw it? So it made more money than Jaws or Star Wars on thier opening weekends. What does that really tell us except that inflation is a problem? What were tickets in those days about 3 dollars?
Kevin Smith says Hollywood doesn't even know how many people see a particular movie, they just don't care. - dimsum05, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4I dunno, I think it was worth it. That's just what happens when you put too much hype into anything... you are bound to be disappointed.
- gungaroo22, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4I think this says more about the industry than anything. If a movie can still be number one a week later, even after less than half the initial attendance is there, it means that no one is seeing other movies. Everyone realizes it - there are no good movies out there. Hollywood is dying.
- 0110110, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Bruce Campbell was awesome!!
- DigitalDud, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4That movie was terrible especially the part where the projection broke and I got a refund.
- sacherjj, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2We saw it in IMAX. They had a serious dust problem. The thing that ruined it for me is that I've done quite a bit of film editing. The sound lagged the film by 0.09-0.1s. This drove me completely nuts the whole movie. All the time you are editing, you look for video and sound sync and fix it. The whole time it was screaming to me that something was wrong.
I'm blind as a bat and just took off my glasses at times to not see lip sync errors. At least we got free tickets to whatever comes to this IMAX in the future. Spiderman 3 doesn't get a reviewing. I think I'm a little lucky in that the sound sync distracted me from how poor of a Spiderman it actually was. - ocyeoman, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4I agree. It was no masterpiece like Spiderman 2, but I had fun. It strikes me that people walked in the theater taking it way too seriously.
- Spo8, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Mysterio is probably going to be the only thing that will motivate me to see Spiderman 4. That would kick ass regardless.
- parabolee, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1As others have said, this is a normal drop for a movie so big, it is still the 4th biggest second weekend ever -
http://www.the-numbers.com/movies/records/weekend2.php
And for the record, I loved the movie (but it wasn't as good as the first two IMHO). - Siefer, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4You should protest in front of your movie theater, tell people to stop giving Sam Raimi their money. I don't think it will work.
- JagoX, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1--> http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=spiderman3.htm
$258 million...not $400 million - AndrewDB, on 01/10/2008, -1/+2Emo spiderman is so happy to hear the news he could cut himself with glee.
- 4tuneCookie, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1This is a sign that should tell all the guys behind this movie: Don't film Spiderman 4, it is doomed to fail.
- kidd3ckz, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3It was closer to the comic book than the last two...
- madfusion15, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2haha that kid's so emo
- youngjl, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2They always have to introduce tension between Peter Parker and Mary Jane, and then its the same old misunderstandings and idiocy. Plus, there were 4 villians if you include dark spidey.
- reddevil3, on 10/11/2007, -4/+4You know, it was pretty bad (just saw it today), but what's the main reason to watch the Spiderman movies? The action scenes. The action was pretty enjoyable imo, and Venom was well done. Of course, I didn't like the fact that Venom was a "second string" story and how they ***** up the symbiote arrival and Sandman's backstory.
- ryanspahn, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Umm did they forget to be fluid....egads horizontal scroll
- AmusedToDeath, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0So, does this mean they'll greenlight another Darkman movie?
I'm everyone - and no one. Everywhere - nowhere. Call me... Darkman. - bighouse107501, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0kirsten dunst is sexy
- AceLy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0@Simcom
That was my favorite part. - MaTT2011, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Does this mean the Spidey3 cast is crying.....again. For the 58th time?
Or are they all breaking out in spontaneous song and dance while pointing at each other and winking?
Honest questions..... =D - tonich03, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2Word of mouth.. no one escapes from it. The internets is really revolutionizing it. The new generation is lot more active in this sense.
- Jack9, on 10/11/2007, -5/+2Best spiderman so far. No surprises here.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -11/+8I don't see how people thought it was a bad movie, it's ***** Hollywood, not a comic book.
- TheG2, on 10/11/2007, -12/+9Seriously...this movie defied description.
I haven't talked to a single person that didn't think it was horrible/hilarious, and not in a good way (the hilarious part, not horrible which is already not in a good way). - smartsingh24, on 10/11/2007, -11/+4just because the dialogue sucked doesn't mean that the movie didn't pay for itself. I'd venture to say that it's going to stay on top next week, seeing as pirates is still 2 weeks away.
- Kwipper, on 10/11/2007, -13/+5Okay. I saw this movie and I fail to see what is so horrible about this film. Please explain in detail why you think this movie sucks, because I just don't see it.
