- kalleanka, on 10/12/2007, -17/+167Good they made so big profit, now I don't feel so bad for downloading it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+136Everyone in the theatre was laughing when Peter Parker was crying.
- Autoplectic, on 10/12/2007, -5/+126the best part was when, after getting hit, mj looks up and says "who are you?" and someone calls out "i'm the juggernaut, bitch!"
- timo1023, on 10/12/2007, -8/+117At the theater, when MJ kissed Harry, some girl screamed "slut". It was hilarious.
- DariusMonsef, on 10/12/2007, -14/+108Definitely the highest grossing worst film. This movie suffered the fate of the late 90's batmans... too many villains and cheese ball scripts.
- asif5th, on 10/12/2007, -19/+101Mary Jane getting punched was my favorite part, letting out a huge laugh while everyone else was gasping felt great.
- FAPmaster, on 10/12/2007, -30/+87Its only gonna have this record 'til Pirates 3 or Shrek 3. Anyways, everyone I talked to that saw Spiderman 3 said it SUCKED.
- Arsi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+47Nah man, Star Wars 3 had record seeders and leechers that will never be touched. 52k seeders, 400k snatches
- pamon, on 10/12/2007, -3/+46yeah, but did it beat Aquaman?
- revenge7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+44*SPOILER (kind of)*
Did the scene when the sandman gets his powers remind anyone else of Half Life? - insomniacal, on 10/12/2007, -14/+56Too bad the film was so disappointing. This film's profits are based on the last one's successes. Spidey 4 won't do as well as the box office now that we can all see where the franchise is headed -- into Batman Forever cheese.
I wish I hadn't gone to the midnight premiere. It wasn't worth the sleep loss. I'm recommending everyone to catch this one on DVD. - sonochamp, on 10/12/2007, -2/+37@JCSaint
"This movie was the worst thing I've seen in a long long time."
Clearly, you haven't been to the movies that much in the past 2 years. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+32No one gave any spoilers. Quit complaining and stop reading Spiderman 3 related stories if you're worried about someone spoiling it.
Good god, what has happened to common sense? - Buzzbean, on 10/12/2007, -3/+33Since I know how the Spider-Man comic books played out in the whole Harry Osborn, Gwen Stacy, Mary Jane Watson, Green Goblin story-lines, I was disappointed they changed so much. My date saw the first two movies but that's all she knows about the Spider-Man story. She liked the movie.
My biggest complaints:
End of the Sandman storyline
End of the Harry storyline
Toby McGuire's acting in the crying and bad-ass scenes. Sorry, Toby. You don't look like a bad-ass in those scenes, just an ass. - coditza, on 10/12/2007, -8/+33At least Batmans had hot chicks...
- Toasterstrudull, on 10/12/2007, -5/+28"Everyone in the theatre was laughing when Peter Parker was crying."
yeah... everyone except my girlfriend. She got so mad when everyone laughed (including me) - staffell, on 10/12/2007, -5/+27Hopefully it will break record download speeds too then. I hate waiting for my torrents.
- silencerider151, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23he was supposed to look like an ass. that was the point.
- drafhk, on 10/12/2007, -6/+26kelleanka@
Actually, It wasn't even worth downloading. Yeah. That bad. It made me want to cut myself, much like Emo Peter. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+24Update all past movies for inflation and compare this to them then let me know what you see.
In fact, hey, you go modify all past movies into 2006 values and you get a different "Top 10 of all time" list!

#2 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) $2,599,929,129.55
#3 Star Wars (1977) $1,576,987,479.22

#10 Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980) $776,938,886.41
Spiderman 3 has a lot to live up to if it wants to make it into the list. - APHughes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21Aquaman 2 was horrible. Without Vincent Chase that franchise went down the toilet
- ethon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19Aquaman only made 116 million on it's opening weekend. Though half of the SFV had power outages, so you could probably tack another 10 mil on there
- sugarazor, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21If you thought emo Parker was supposed to be "cool," then you completely missed the joke.
- JCSaint, on 10/12/2007, -4/+22buzzbean,
Toby didn't look like an ass. He looked some jerk emo kid with that hair. Who's idea was that? He looked like he was dying of AIDS that whole time. - greenjestur, on 10/12/2007, -6/+22Am I the only one who thought it was an enjoyable movie?
I didn't expect it to be better than the first 2, and it wasn't, but I don't understand why so many people are disgusted by it like it was "Glitter" and they were expecting "The Godfather". And it was better than the third X-Men. - Skizzler, on 10/12/2007, -5/+20Spiderman 3 isn't worth however much you pay for it.
The writing and dialog is pretty contrived, half the time a line will be delivered, but instead of considering the impact of that line on the characters or plotline, you'll wonder: "what idiot decided this should happen?"
There are a multiple failed attempts at humor, but fortunately for us there's one scene that's actually funny.
The villains are dumb and poorly developed. If I wasn't driving two other people to the theater I probably would have left early.
The only worthwhile parts of the movie were the sparse action sequences, most of which were "par for the course" Spiderman fight scenes. There was, admittedly, one awesome part of the movie, a tag-team fight scene near the end of the movie with some intriguing action. I was riveted for the 60 or so seconds that occurred. - Azriel7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15I thought the movie was ok. I liked the action sequence. However, I am tired of Mary Jane's and Peter Parkers rollercoster relationship. I have a serious case of jane fatigue. The cycle of:
1. She likes/loves peter
2. Peter/Spiderman is too busy saving lives to spend time with her and help her with her emotional needs
3. She gets angry with peter so she runs to Harry.
4. She gets held hostage by the bad guys, Spiderman/Peter saves her
5. She suddenly falls back in love with peter
6. Go to line 1 on next movie - cielo23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Spiderman 2 was great....Spiderman 3 not-so-much
- Stiverton, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14I also thought it was good.
- CaptainCool53, on 10/12/2007, -12/+23It was terrible. A big waste of time and money.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14Wasn't as bad as the reviews. An average action movie. I wish they had more of Venom. Haden should've played Venom. At least he can act. Emo Parker was hard to watch.
- Tainek, on 10/12/2007, -9/+18Speak for youself guys, ive just got back from watching it. my personal opinion is that it was the best so far, it had less action, but far, far more charater development.
digg me down if you must, but i still stick that it was the best so far
shame people love to follow like sheep, the majority didnt like it, so i'll watch it, never intending to give it a chance, how sad - Jholder112233, on 10/12/2007, -7/+16I havn't seen it yet but I've heard its not too brilliant. Am I correct?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -12/+20I'm about to add $6.50 to that 148 million...matinee ftw!
- Soccerman14, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11meh, didnt think it was a very good movie... first two were better
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10I loved when Venom was surrounded by the polls. It looked pretty scary. The art direction was there, but the story and acting wasn't.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8*Oh, Spidey to the recuse and "just so happens" to jump in front of an American flag..... gay...*
I thought this was one of the funniest parts of the movie...you're an idiot if you don't get the humor.
I personally thought this movie was great. It's long enough that you get your money's worth. - JCSaint, on 10/12/2007, -9/+16Not too brilliant? I thought about walking out halfway through and asking for my money back but I convinced myself it must get better. I was wrong.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9@dudefalling
Your post makes no sense whatsoever (if the movie still broke records and millions pirated it, then obviously piracy isn't bad) and has nothing to do with anything I said.
Nice try, though. - insomniacal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Three movies, three times Mary Jane has been kidnapped and needs Spidey to rescue her. Yes, it's old.
- ariez84, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9The worst of the three....
Too many characters and now enough time to tell their story.....they could of done so much with Eddie Brock, but no, he was thrown in there with no development...5 minutes later he becomes venom. They also made venom 100% in this movie which isnt the case in the comic books...he despised Peter and Spiderman but thats all the evil there is in him.

No wonder when asked if he (tobey) liked the movie and his answer was "it was okay". Heres to Spiderman 4, and lets hope Spiderman 3 isnt the end of the series because it will be a big disappointment if they end the great series like that. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Also, they can no longer use the "piracy hurts movie sales" since spiderman 3 was available online long before it was released :)
Man, they just keep kickin themselves in the ass, don't they? - insomniacal, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9You may enjoy it if you're not into consistent character motivation. Just don't ask why characters do X, or why they don't do Y.
- halosniper7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7we now know carnage *can* be in #4, Dr. Connor still has the sample of the black *****.
- deweather, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7its at about $200 million including overseas, so its gonna make a HUGE profit don't worry.
- lookitsrobss, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8oh and the crane scene was amazing
- ringo380, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I would like to point out for the people who don't realize this: Sam Raimi, the director of the Spiderman films, is the same guy who did the Evil Dead flicks. What this means is that, those "that's funny but I bet it's not supposed to be" parts in the movie ARE actually supposed to be funny. That's Raimi's weird sense of humor. Sam knew full well that Maguire looked ridiculous as a "bad-ass".
I enjoyed the comedy in Spider-man 3 much more than any of the action or drama. Try watching Spiderman 3 with an Army of Darkness point of view, and you'll understand. - Stoppay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Fratdoctor.com's new doogie comic sums up the plot pretty well:
crying - new villian - crying - black goo monster - more crying - close up of crying- everyone drowns in a sea of tears... spiderman saves the day - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11Every time there is a monster movie opening, some morons want to talk about how adjusting for inflation, older movies made far more money. And of course, adjusting for inflation is a stupid thing to do since you choose to omit all the advantages that older movies had. You see, people who wanted to see Gone With the Wind felt that their ONLY chance to see it was by going to the theater to see it. They did not have the luxury of waiting 6 months (or less now) for the DVD to come out, and then PPV a couple months after that, and then HBO after that.
Plus, movies didn't have NEARLY as much competition back then. Not just from other movies (where a major movie would stay in a theater for several months, and basically be on of the few movies available to a town) but from EVERYTHING. Gone With The Wind was competing with RADIO for cryuing out loud. And nothing else. No 300+ channel television lineups, no internet, etc.
And of coruse there are the several re-releases of older movies that boosted their totals. Which by the way, a lot of sites that "adjust for inflation" do improperly by counting money made for a 1970 or so rerelease as 1939 money.
In other words, who cares about which movie did the best in present dollars? You simply can't compare movies then and now. - manova, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I walked out of the theater saying, "that was different." I enjoyed it. Not as much at the first 2, but still better than most superhero movies. I still have a hard time describing the movie. It was kind of like they tried to blend a romantic comedy with an action movie and threw in a bit of musical for the heck of it. I can definitely see why some people did not like the movie, but I appreciated it being different than what I expected.
