Spider-Man and Venom Movie Poster. A MUST SEE!

celluloidandvinyl.com — Sony Pictures has released a new back-lit movie theatre poster to help wet the palates of Spidey fans worldwide. This poster is an incredible depiction of the Spider-Man/Venom inner battle that'll ensue come the now confirmed release date of 05/04/07.

    God, I'm so excited about this movie... The Venom/Spiderman series was my second favorite match-up in al of comics. Second only to Venom and Spidey v Carnage. If this movie after this one is the Carnage battle, I very well may wet myself in the theatre.

      I thought that the metallic webbing and spider should have been done away with. Venom was natural. Parker didn't even use his old suit after he got the symbiote.

We will never see Venom in a trailer...they will only suggest to it. It's going to be a suprise once we hit the theater.

(Peter Parker aka the fictional alter ego of spider man, also fictional, YOU PRICK, I do know something about spider-man, how about that.) What my point was, was that the suit parker wear looks like crap because there was no change. Its the regular suit but black, from what we can tell. In the cartoon Parker had a completely different suit that was made from the symbiote that looked more natural since he wore it on his skin all the time. It was flat black with a white spider, unless citing Ultimate spider-man then the suit was flat black.

      Are you sure? In this context, whetting one's palate means the same thing as whetting one's appetite. It's not the physical roof of your mouth that is being referred to, but rather your sense of taste.

"Whetting your appetite" is a common phrase, and in this context, "Wetting your palate" would make more sense, getting your mouth watering in anticipation.       2. So far the Spidy-Venom suit (from what we've all seen) has been disappointing.

      Hopefully Venom (Eddie Brock Venom) looks something like what we all know and love, and not a mangled CG Hollywood mess.

  • cmdrNacho, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Unfortunately This may be the spiderman that jumps the shark... 4 villains come on.. each villain will get like 20 minutes of screen time.. it seems ridiculous to me... do the avengers and xmen show up too ? Its like xmen 3 there are so many great characters, but you get the feeling none of them shine due to the time restrictions of a movie.. you have to pack everything in under 3 hours. I hope rami knows what hes doing.

      That's what I'm guessing. That, or Harry is institutionalized towards the beginning of the movie so that the movie can focus on Spider-man vs. Sandman and dealing with the symbiote suit. I doubt we'd see a Spidey/Venom battle in this movie, despite all the hype.

      Oh, and then there's speculation about where the suit comes from - I know in the comics it's a long story involving space travel. I'm betting on one of two things: it's something manufactured by a big defense corporation, or it is found on a space mission (giving Jameson's son another cameo).

    Most of the people out there do not even know who the hell venom is. They just saw pictures and think he looks cool. Only us geeks know that Spider-Man picked up the symbiot during the Secret Wars on another planet and then returned to earth with it thinking was just helping his powers, but it is a symbiotic and was trying to take over his mind. He got it off and then it went to Eddie Brock a competing photographer. In the 90s animated show, JJ's astronaut son brought the symbiot back from space in a rock. I think that is how they will do it in the movie, because they introduced that character already in 2.

    • craigily, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i also find it funny that people are torn up about the venom thing. I think one of the great things about venom is the back story! I dont think you want to really rush into it. They'll get to venom eventually, but this part of the story is great! i bet they'll show the creation of the broc version of venom by the end of the movie to get you all geared up for the next one.

    The left and right black areas are part of the same spider symbol. This particular poster does not reference Venom specifically. However, those that have read the comic and know that Venom is a ticked off combination of Eddie Brock and the slighted symbiote so it can be implied that Venom will appear at somepoint. But again this poster shows nothing of venom.
  • ericeman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I don't know if this was mentinoed anywhere... I didn't see it... but the poster in lenticular meaning you move your head and it changes from one picture to the other. It's a cooler poster knowing that.

    Also, I don't claim to know a lot about spiderman since I've never been able to grab myself one of the hardcover collections, but didn't Spiderman's symbiot suit used to have no webbing and hte enlongated white logo? I thought I saw that and it's always what I was expecting in the movie.
  • hawk3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have been keeping up on this, and ive read that the forth villiam is Mysterio... and that he is being played by Bruce Campbell....which totally makes sense, explains his cameos in the first 2 movies, and is the absolute perfect choice for Mysterio. And man, they have 1 shot at making venom either the most badass character in any comic book movie, or the biggest single-handed killing of a superhero franchise. Venom is the dealbreaker Sony.....your chance to do atelast 1 ***** thing right

      Bond? Stargate Atlantis? Clerks II? MGM holds these and Sony bought MGM in 2005.

      Anything by Columbia Tristar? 'Cause Sony has owned them for nearly twenty years.

      They've got a dozen "Best Picture" academy awards under their belts, not to mention their power hold on the electronics market. I wouldn't go telling Sony they have a chance to do "at least one thing right".

  • JeremiahLBurns, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's already been said (possibly on here) that The Sandman is the main villain of this film. If Venom appears it will be, unfortunately, briefly...maybe towards the end...to set up another film or spin off.

    Unfortunately, Raimi is only going to work on the third film, and then he is bowing out. And the sad truth of the matter is, Toby will likely leave too and Topher Grace, who plays Brock in this film, would have been an incredible replacement for Peter but alas, he no longer can don that mantle.

  • hawk3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you have seen the teaser, you can tell venom will be in THIS movie....they show spidey in the bell tower, losing the suit, eddie brock seeing that peter is spiderman, and if you have read the comics, you know that that is the exact point where the symbiote attaches to eddie.....also ive read that the final battle will be spidey and goblin2 vs venom.....which makes my brain drool.....

    Venom will appear in the end of the movie and join in the fight of Sandman vs. Spider Man. Green Goblin 2 will change his tune and come to the aid of his friend Spiderman. Both the Green Goblin 2 and Eddie Brock will not survive the movie. The symbiote will escape only to return for another movie if the future director chooses to do so. This is Sam Raimi's last hurrah in the Spiderman Triology so of course he is going to squeeze in the biggest baddest Spiderman villian if only for the last half hour. Mysterio is going to be the 4th villian and he will be played by Bruce Campbell but will not be a major character. A way of Raimi setting up his buddy for a major role in Spidey 4 when another director takes over...it's only right since he has a cameo in every single one of the movies. It is rumored the Dunst refuses to do another one, so it's your guess if she makes it to the end of this movie or not. Black Cat will be in Spidey 4 as she was written into the early drafts of this film but was soon written out. Also Gwen Stacey was supposed to bite the dust 3/4 into this movie but with Dunst in doubts for Spidey 4 this may have changed in the final draft of the script. Also in regards to some of the leaked photos...look for Sandman to have had some sort of involvment in Ben's death...if not only just in dark Spidey's mind.

    I liked the way they warped the Spidey logo to a cross between the original and Venom's.
