- orfilms, on 01/11/2009, -3/+88It doesn't look as good as past Pixar efforts, but I trust that it will be incredible. Cars is the only Pixar movie that left me disappointed.
- lowtolerance, on 01/11/2009, -0/+52Agreed. Cars seemed like an answer to critics complaints that Pixar films went over the heads of children. Kids go ape ***** over it, though.
- franklymister, on 01/11/2009, -2/+45It's "peek," not "peak."
Homonyms will get you every time. - GokuSoul, on 01/11/2009, -2/+45Hahaha that's funny where did you hear that?
- ardembiniwoot, on 01/11/2009, -4/+46I appreciate that Disney/Pixar is making less typical movies like wall-e... before, they made good movies, but they were all playing safe...
- THETEH, on 01/11/2009, -3/+33This movie looks pretty sweet. I love pixar.

http://www.apple.com/trailers/disney/up/ - MavRevMatt, on 01/11/2009, -0/+18In comparison to other Pixar movies, Cars was the worst, although it was still a great movie when compared to other animated films.
- WhiteHamster, on 01/11/2009, -0/+18I agree, its not that it was bad, it was just ... not as good.
- Jmochi, on 01/11/2009, -1/+18Cars was the most disappointing, but it wasn't that bad a movie imo
- MavRevMatt, on 01/11/2009, -1/+15Just you.
- pumacub, on 01/11/2009, -0/+14You do realize that for the most part watching a movie is optional, right?
- ChonoonFiend, on 01/11/2009, -4/+16"Let me in please!"
"hmm... NO!" - franklymister, on 01/11/2009, -0/+11Homonyms our people two
- osquid, on 01/11/2009, -6/+16I have enjoyed every Pixar movie, but would have to say that Monsters, Inc. was my all time favorite. I think UP will be much better than what most think.
- revmitcz, on 01/12/2009, -1/+10Methinks if you actually watch "video musics" (you mean music videos, I assume) then you probably have an exceedingly short attention span. Unless they're constant scene cuts and explosions (no diss at Dark Knight, but it's definitely got a lot of those), I'd guess you and your wife's combined ADD would bore you to tears.
I fail to see how that's Pixar's fault. God forbid they try to ... ya know... ENGAGE the viewer. - tdogg241, on 01/11/2009, -0/+9I remember when I first saw the trailers for Finding Nemo and Monsters, Inc. I was wholly underwhelmed both times, and both times the films turned out to be amazing. I expect this will be the case for Up as well.
- walshgopher, on 01/11/2009, -0/+8homonyms are people too
- Tom10803, on 01/11/2009, -2/+10Pixar never disappoints!
- noangelcame, on 01/11/2009, -0/+8Those critics who said that are part of the problem.
I'm hoping that Pixar will one day create a movie with very mature themes, that kids can't see without sneaking in.
It's time for animation in this country to grow up, and I think Pixar is the only studio leading the charge in that direction. - Miyazaki, on 01/11/2009, -1/+8I saw 45 minutes(not all finished) last month and it was incredible. This movie is gonna go places that no one could imagine...
except for Pixar.
A better report from someone that saw what I saw...
http://www.chud.com/articles/articles/17414/1/IS-U ... - noangelcame, on 01/11/2009, -1/+8Disney didn't make this movie. Pixar did. Disney is just used for their distribution and merchandising abilities. The creative force behind all the big recent animated movie hits people assume are Disney movies, .have all been created by Pixar.
- Fatcheeseguy, on 01/11/2009, -1/+7Has any Pixar film been bad?
- catachip, on 01/11/2009, -1/+7You've successfully failed.
The fact that Pixar movies have stories that are not unfunny family nonsense is exactly why they are so successful. - syst1k, on 01/11/2009, -1/+7Doesnt that kid remind you of the fat boyscout from the man show?
http://www.metacafe.com/watch/1471018/funny_fat_ki ... - Versh, on 01/11/2009, -0/+6Though it appears there isn't much substance, I'm sure there's more to this than an old man, boy scout, and the floating house. Also this seems to go against the current trend of presenting a majority of the movie's plot in the promotional material-- I prefer not knowing how the movie will progress and resolve beforehand. Like the trailer for Life Aquatic, you got an idea of the tone and humor, but it never indicated the character relationships or what would all entail.
- harronoob, on 01/11/2009, -4/+10I think "Larry the Cable Guy" was what ruined it for me...
- Triple007, on 01/11/2009, -1/+7Wall E was fantastic.
- tdogg241, on 01/11/2009, -1/+7Cars is definitely the least good of all Pixar's work, but it's far from bad. A big part of the problem for me was the fact that it was almost the exact same story as Doc Hollywood.
It's disappointing that they're making Cars 2, but hopefully it'll be better than the first one. - mimigins, on 01/11/2009, -0/+6It's a rat that cooks, what's there to understand.
- JustinTX, on 01/11/2009, -0/+6I can fully understand where a lot of people are coming from when they say that Cars is Pixar's least impressive work. There are parts of it I don't like such as Owen Wilson. I hate that guy BECAUSE of his voice. Larry the Cable Guy also grates on the nerves.
On the other hand, I'm a car enthusiast and, while I'm not a NASCAR fan, I love racing. Once I knew the Porsche was the love interest I was sold. Well... maybe it was when the twin Miatas "flashed their headlights!"
I liked it, despite the weaker-than-expected-from-Pixar story, Owen Wilson's incessant whine, and the over the top redneck. It looks fantastic. It really is just beautiful to look at. Pixar's animators never fail to amaze me with their ability to bring out the personality of the characters through animation. Despite knowing full well that cars already have "faces", I was skeptical that they would translate into emotive characters on screen.
...and come on, Paul Newman! I can't think a more perfect casting than this one in any movie. Plus, the engine sound for the Hudson Hornet is perfect!
Having said all of that, I can see that if you haven't immersed yourself in car culture all of your life, as I have, a lot of the movie (probably the best parts) might be lost on you. It isn't Pixar's best but I'd say that the only CG movies that have come out of that other CG studio (Dreamworks Animation) that are better are the first Shrek and Kung Fu Panda... and only just. - JustinTX, on 01/11/2009, -0/+6All of the children I know understood it. Maybe you just have dumb kids?
- inajeep, on 01/11/2009, -0/+5Pixar has the ability to make movies you don't mind watching with your kids over and over again. Even the movies I didn't think I'd like or had no interest in surprised me. UP will be seen by the entire family and bought when the DVD is released.
- EvilFerret, on 01/12/2009, -0/+5LMAO!! Genius dude, keep 'em coming.
- jcnjcn, on 01/11/2009, -0/+5Movie studios announce the releases in advance to build up hype. A simple rom-com could be announced later because they don't need any hype to build. But movies like Watchmen, The Dark Knight, Up, etc. that have built a fanbase through the source material (or, in the case of Pixar, the previous movies from the studio) are able to use word-of-mouth to promote their film. Most people hear about movies through overexposure due to teaser trailers, trailers, posters, and all the other marketing that has to been done at least a few months before the release of the movie.
- tidu, on 01/11/2009, -0/+5It's like George Bluth, except he used hydrogen. And it actually ended with his arrest, as well
- SCPChop108, on 01/11/2009, -0/+4"uh not a of Pixar..."
accidentally? - armakaryk, on 01/11/2009, -0/+4whoever scored that trailer is a genius. the string and horns in tandem when the balloons pass infront on the little kid's window is so amazing, its wonderfully adventurey.
(is embarrassed by the excitement he gets from the score of a children's movie trailer) - Khast, on 01/11/2009, -0/+4Well, you never know, they could be the best parts of the movie....
doubtful though... - michelang, on 01/11/2009, -0/+4http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nv3ubl2Yt1Q&fea ...
- tidu, on 01/11/2009, -0/+4lol then don't see Wall-e...
- DelMonte, on 01/11/2009, -0/+4I was about to post this link, they have full high quality 480p, 720p and 1080p versions there, much better than the youtube versions.
- noangelcame, on 01/12/2009, -0/+4@Sherman901
While I can concede the point that a mature animated movie possibly won't sell nearly as well,.. especially when you take away the money these studios make from merchandising toys out of the equation,. I have to take issue with the point you are making that there is no need,. or that a movie with animated characters can't be taken as seriously as one with live action characters.
My response is: "Grave of the Fireflies".. It's a Hayao Miyazaki film, that deals with an orphaned brother & sister trying to survive during WW2 in Japan. It's one of the greatest films I've ever seen,. and frankly,. I've never thought twice about the seriousness of the characters,. they are as real as any live action movie.
I think the problem is,. we've built to many walls around what animation is capable of in the U.S. Before Snow White,. people didn't believe that anyone could sit through a feature length animated film. Since Disney proved them wrong, and became the defacto standard,. people assumed that every animated film had to be a musical. Now,. Pixar has proved that theory wrong as well. So,. I'm waiting for the next wall around animation to come tumbling down in the U.S., and I believe Pixar is just the right studio to do it. - MagikOvenMit, on 01/11/2009, -2/+534 people dugg this up? Wow.
- Squeeself, on 01/12/2009, -0/+3FYI, methinks IS an English word in the dictionary. It was use extensively by Shakespeare. While it certainly isn't used as often in the modern vernacular, it still sees the occasional use in modern literature, and in fact seems to be enjoying a resurgence in use online.
Also, Wall-E held PLENTY of engaging material throughout the first part of the movie. The fact that you weren't engaged is NOT Pixar's fault, not when so many other people loved the film. Your logic needs a lot of work. It's fine not to like a movie, but place the blame on your own tastes, not the filmmaker...unless you truly do have a knowledge of what makes a good movie, and not merely what your personal tastes are. - dragon76, on 01/11/2009, -0/+3If you really wanna go old school it's a one-sided story of the Prince and the Pauper or the City Mouse and the Country Mouse. It's what we call an "archetype": fish out of water. :-)
