Skywalker Last Supper Made With 69,550 Star Wars Frames
gizmodo.com — This is what you get when you capture 69,550 full resolution frames from the six Star Wars movies and combine them with a version of DaVinci's Last Supper on a PC with mosaic-making software. The 262-megapixel mosaic (24,168 x 10,864 pixels) took two weeks to complete, including 30 hours of computing power. Giz interviews the author Avinash Arora

- PoppedCulture, on 03/12/2008, -4/+36A Digg linking directly to Arora's website went up the other day: http://digg.com/movies/Star_Wars_Last_Supper_Mosai ...
Doesn't anyone look for duplicates first? Why not Digg that one and give the creator of the mosaic some traffic.- PoppedCulture, on 03/12/2008, -3/+9Ooops, messed up the url: http://digg.com/movies/Star_Wars_Last_Supper_Mosai ...
- mklopez, on 03/12/2008, -5/+4That submission is over 5 days old, so more diggs wont drive him more traffic.
I did a search for it beore submitting, and found several dupes, none of them made it to the front page.
Since the gizmodo post included an interview and details on the software used (and the subject matter is totally front-page worthy), I decided to post it. If it gets to the front page, the author will get traffic via the gizmodo link- PoppedCulture, on 03/12/2008, -2/+3Fair enough.
- dtfinch, on 03/13/2008, -0/+2If the first post doesn't succeed, try, try again.

- iceblademan, on 03/13/2008, -2/+1This is awesome.
It was probably a small clutch of PS3's. Why find the cure for cancer when we can render giant Star Wars mosaics

- kseymore, on 03/12/2008, -9/+4Hehe... "real work." That's like saying his large collection of star wars toys was real work as well.
- computerwiz_222, on 03/12/2008, -3/+4here we go again with the mac vs. pc thing! I personally have a mac AND a PC (i no eh?!, imagine) I use the PC and MAC equally! Quit your bashing and grow up, they are both equally good products!
- npcabral, on 03/13/2008, -3/+0UM..no they aren't...windows is generally a flawed product. I also run both Windows and Mac machines and all apps generally run faster on my mac....not to mention the fact that I cant even go to a porn sight on my windows machine without worrying about viruses and what now.
Go Mac.....actually....go anything that isnt anything Windows. (maybe Microsoft will fix their ***** one day....doubt it though....)

- gmprunner, on 03/12/2008, -8/+3Yeah, because a Mac would have made it so easy, it wouldn't even be work.
- iceblademan, on 03/13/2008, -0/+6That was just bad. Nice try though

- FatLoser, on 03/13/2008, -2/+2Photoshopped or not, this guy is definitely getting sued by George Lucas. I'm pretty sure you can't even say the word "star" anymore without getting sued. .... Yep, just received a letter from his lawyer.
- gypsi, on 03/12/2008, -1/+9episode 7 won't be digital film - it will just be a composite of mosaic frames. sw fans everywhere will spontaneously combust

- Chaoticfist, on 03/12/2008, -56/+97Ok since this is going to make the front page i want to ask all digg users a favor. BURY ME.
I want to see how much i can get buried by. SO BURY ME. I am aiming for like 400 burys :)
Come on diggers start burying me or i am going to insult Star Wars, Linux and Apple.- Lythium, on 03/12/2008, -11/+5Wow, as of 3:33pm Eastern time, reverse psychology actually appears to be working. Who knew.
- Chaoticfist, on 03/12/2008, -15/+5I actually seriously wanted to see how much i could be buried by lol.
- Jeffler, on 03/12/2008, -1/+9Should've said something really ridiculous then.
- Shirt, on 03/12/2008, -2/+17You should have made an interesting and rational [sounding] argument as to why you think Star Wars is a horrible series and accomplished nothing for cinema.
- Chaoticfist, on 03/12/2008, -15/+5I actually seriously wanted to see how much i could be buried by lol.
- NamesTwister, on 03/12/2008, -6/+1Didn't work for me, I buried him.
- hermslice, on 03/12/2008, -1/+22LOL we should keep him at 0
- FatLoser, on 03/13/2008, -0/+3it's the only way we can win... there is no way to know whether he is using reverse psychology or is just a douche bag.
- Lythium, on 03/12/2008, -11/+5Wow, as of 3:33pm Eastern time, reverse psychology actually appears to be working. Who knew.
- nightsky07, on 03/12/2008, -2/+7It would be much better picture without the new star wars characters. Grand Moff Tarkin and Admiral Akbar are way cooler than Darth Maul and Mace Windu. Sorry Sam L.

"Okay, that's obviously Luke, Chewie, Vader, Han & Leia.....wait. Where's Lando?"- FatLoser, on 03/13/2008, -0/+1in a seedy comedy club picking up your wife with the line, "I'm Lando... get on my dick, bitch"
- mrjofo, on 03/12/2008, -0/+7Yeah, where is that Judas?
- Shadic, on 03/13/2008, -0/+1He's probably in a few hundred of the pictures, actually...
- bfk68, on 03/12/2008, -5/+5Obi-wan: That's no Last Supper. It's a Mosaic!
- hyankov, on 03/12/2008, -9/+3GET A LIFE.
- Lakerat, on 03/12/2008, -0/+8It would be great if he'd torrent the image, I have access to a very nice wide (~3.5ft') format printer I'd like to print it on. Cool stuff.
- craz3d, on 03/13/2008, -0/+2I know Avi from high school and attend the same college; unfortunately, since he's on a college campus he won't be able to effectively seed the file due to bandwidth limits imposed by the school. If he wants to share the image, I'm sure he'll find a way. Until then he's probably going to lay for the reasons already mentioned, sharing this image publicly might result in action by the giant media conglomerates that 'own' the images.
- iperalta, on 03/12/2008, -2/+4EPIC

http://digg.com/hardware/Sun_Unveils_The_Most_Powe ... - Flashman, on 03/12/2008, -2/+14So if Luke is Jesus, that makes Vader... God?
- Shirt, on 03/12/2008, -3/+2WRONG.
- phantom73, on 03/12/2008, -9/+2wow I love Star Wars as much as the next guy, but has anything in the history of the Earth been simultaneously this nerdy and this sacreligious at the same time?
- Shirt, on 03/12/2008, -2/+1WRONG.
- PoppedCulture, on 03/13/2008, -0/+2Oh yes, about 50 more times: http://culturepopped.blogspot.com/2007/04/suddenly ...

- unclelarry, on 03/12/2008, -5/+3seriously....why?
- btraxx, on 03/12/2008, -1/+3I would never have the ability to do that. Major props, outstanding.
- BHorn56, on 03/12/2008, -2/+0Artist must be into the DaVinci Code too. Princess Leia is there where they claim it's Mary Magdalene and not actually John
- PoppedCulture, on 03/13/2008, -0/+1The majority of the Last Supper parodies seem to do the same as well: http://culturepopped.blogspot.com/2007/04/suddenly ...
- harrynotlarry, on 03/12/2008, -1/+5AND I'M HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN!
- joshf52, on 03/12/2008, -0/+2Awesome that is.
- Andyschism, on 03/12/2008, -8/+1Honestly. Can someone explain to me why this is impressive?
- alecks, on 03/12/2008, -0/+3What, to me, seems to be amazing, is that they didn't just average each frame to one color and assign to pixels in final image. Frames seem to have structural significance as well... in other words the shapes in the frames contribute to the bigger shape they form in the final image. Check the nose on Luke's face in the close up, for example...
- Andyschism, on 03/13/2008, -0/+1Thanks for replying, and thank you digg for burying me.

- OBKenobi, on 03/13/2008, -1/+1Actually, he has nothing to do with Christianity. This picture is a parody.
- smrekar, on 03/12/2008, -0/+2i want to download this and print it out on my z3100 for my office. Link to the file?
- FatLoser, on 03/13/2008, -0/+3i bet you have a cell phone too, you fancy important person
- pathouston22, on 03/12/2008, -7/+1"Each image was about 640x272"
He took the pictures from a pirated move. Why dosn't he support what he loves and buy the DVD?- craz3d, on 03/13/2008, -0/+1Just because he downloaded a copy of the movie off the internet created by a scene group doesn't necessarily mean that he hasn't purchased the DVD. Furthermore, if he does own the DVD (which I might add I'm sure he does) he has every right in the world to have a backup copy for as long as he owns the movies on a digital (or probably analog) format of some sort. Go out and find another bone to pick.
- Jeffler, on 03/12/2008, -0/+23Buried as inaccurate, I counted 69,549 frames.
- ahoyhoy, on 03/13/2008, -0/+2This comment was obviously photoshopped. The reflections on the comma are all wrong.
- GrandmasterB, on 03/12/2008, -0/+2Vader: "Padme! Where's my dinner bitch! Luke, drink your blue milk!"
- AManWithNoName, on 03/12/2008, -0/+9If you flip it around and overlay it, you'll find that Princess Leia is not only a man, but plotting to murder Luke. Also, you can see Waldo hiding on the right side of the picture this way, and a secret message that tells you to worship Vader.
- BeforeSputnik, on 03/12/2008, -2/+3Where's Jar-Jar?
(prepares for burial)- FatLoser, on 03/13/2008, -0/+1He was finally forgotten and about to get dequeued out of my brain, but you done went and enqueued him all over again. You sonofabitch.
