- CaptMonkey, on 11/03/2008, -0/+49Don't forget Army of Darkness and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
- Atsumori, on 11/04/2008, -2/+30For those who would like a shortcut or if it dies because of digg:
6. Star Wars: Return of the Jedi
5. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
4. The Bourne Ultimatum
3. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
2. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
1. Goldfinger - Bogo, on 11/03/2008, -2/+29It's true though - most of the ending movies in a trilogy suck because its so easy to pull money from them (*cough* Matrix *cough*). The ones that pull it off generally create an amazing franchise which makes money for years to come - hopefully Batman can be one of those as well.
- mrlivingston, on 11/04/2008, -0/+27Dirty Debutantes 3. A classic.
- hollywoodphony, on 11/04/2008, -6/+24Buried for no mention of Police Academy 3: Back in Training.
- sockpuppets, on 11/04/2008, -1/+19The real magic doesn't happen until the 9th film. Back Door Sluts 9 proved this.
- DeathRay2K, on 11/04/2008, -2/+19Do people often clap at the ends of movies? I've only ever seen it happen once, at the end of Cloverfield.
One person clapping is better than none, like most movies get. - mywhitenoise, on 11/04/2008, -7/+22Return Of The Jedi was pretty weak after following Empire.
- Chicken2nite, on 11/03/2008, -3/+18Re: Han is in all the best scenes of IV and V:
I don't recall Han standing next to Yoda in Empire. - McHaleR, on 11/04/2008, -1/+16Die hard with a vengeance was a fantastic third movie.
- AK911Carrera, on 11/04/2008, -3/+18I want to see more Bourne movies.
- serpentor, on 11/04/2008, -0/+10I'll at least say that RoTK was no better than TTT or FoTR (and I think most would agree on this point). To put it above the rest if silly. They were all fantastic (though I prefer to only re-watch FoTR is it's my personal favorite).
- leif77, on 11/04/2008, -1/+10Bond was the only one i didn't expect to be on that list...
- Kanten, on 11/04/2008, -3/+11Six. Out of the entire history of film. Six.
- TheWriteGuy, on 11/04/2008, -0/+8I saw Jedi when it was originally released. Sorry to say but I was disappointed by it, and I was 9 years old at the time. It hasn't gotten any better for me to watch again in recent years. But Empire truly is great -- it's one of the great science fiction movies of all time.
- Lst01, on 11/04/2008, -0/+8A director who cares more about quality than money?
Is this from The Onion? - Ravatar, on 11/04/2008, -2/+9That's what happens when you've stolen the brilliant first script and then have to come up with the ***** for the sequels yourself.
- clawatticas, on 11/04/2008, -4/+10I vote Once Upon a Time in Mexico! (1: El Mariachi, 2: Desperado, 3: Once Upon a Time in Mexico)
And I want to see the Sands trilogy! I want to see Once Upon a Time in Mexico part 2 and part 3! - gaqua, on 11/04/2008, -0/+6That's the point.
- spritom, on 11/04/2008, -0/+6Police Academy had to tie up all those plotlines
- funnygreen, on 11/04/2008, -1/+7Back to the Future III was so epic, I remember being a kid and seeing it in theaters!
- maximilen, on 11/04/2008, -1/+7Matrix 2 in addition to 3 was an epic failure in every possible way... Except for the special effects.. Well, actually those were too, because they gave all the good scenes away in the damn previews, those money-hungry genetic defectives...
- inactive, on 11/04/2008, -2/+7Ok. Please. Stop with the toplists. I mean a toplist of 3rd installments of movies. Doesn't anyone have anything better to do, like vote or something.
- gaqua, on 11/04/2008, -0/+5I found the plot disjointed and the action scenes poorly lit, but the dialog was superb, I'll agree.
- specialK16, on 11/04/2008, -0/+5All jokes aside, I know Reloaded and Revolutions sucked compared to The Matrix, but hell, that last fight with Neo and Smith was ***** great in my opinion.
- Ravatar, on 11/04/2008, -0/+5Totally agree, third movie wasn't nearly as enjoyable as the first two IMO.
- ultraseamus, on 11/04/2008, -0/+5True, "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" was my favorite of the 3. Although "For a Few Dollars More" was a close second.
- inactive, on 11/04/2008, -0/+4Truly the hallmark of the Back Door Sluts franchise.
- glucoseboy, on 11/04/2008, -0/+4The list just proves Nolan right, the majority of 3rd movies are bad.
- Tyrghast, on 11/04/2008, -3/+6I have to agree with him on the poor quality of The Dark Knight's action sequences... The shaky-cam and quick-cut fads need to go die a quiet death.
- Kanten, on 11/04/2008, -1/+4Alien 3 was miles above Resurrection.
- ryansmith18, on 11/03/2008, -1/+4terminator was a bad example. A trilogy doesn't have a 4th movie as its ending.
batman hasn't had a trilogy until possibly now. I believe the others were all independent of one another. Could be wrong about this one - I'm a bit young to remember the other Batman movies clearly.
Of course the 3rd spiderman sucked. It had to keep up with what the first two did for it.
Even though I'm a big fan of it, I'll give you credit on The Matrix trilogy. :-/ - ZigVicious, on 11/04/2008, -0/+3You go ***** those sheep. Have fun...
- Plasmodia, on 11/04/2008, -0/+3I could eat a box of alphabet crackers and ***** out a better comment than you.
- frogman54, on 11/04/2008, -3/+6Beverly Hills Cop 3.
- jcarpent, on 11/04/2008, -0/+3Shop smart; shop S-Mart.
- Gooba, on 11/04/2008, -0/+3Good... Bad... I'm the guy with the gun.
- Cainsable, on 11/04/2008, -0/+2Good Point
- reidmangel, on 11/04/2008, -0/+2I have to agree that Goldfinger is a great "Third Movie".
Best Bond movie ever created in my opinion. - AManWithNoName, on 11/04/2008, -0/+2If ever there was a director who cared about the quality of his films, Nolan was it.
- nemodot, on 11/04/2008, -0/+2Leia's Golden Bikini Thing!!!
- kitkompo, on 11/04/2008, -0/+2i thought day of the dead by romero was very good.
- brsteve88, on 11/04/2008, -0/+2No reading the article!? They directly mention Rocky III, though apparently they didn't think it was worthy. Not that I'm saying that's okay.
- petala, on 11/04/2008, -0/+2"There’s not a single fight scene in either Batman Begins or Dark Knight where we can tell what the hell is going on through all the fast cutting and micro-editing" |
WTF?!? Did that guy even watch Dark Knight?? No more quick cut fight in it, but some of the fight is just too slow and looks too choreographed. Watch again the fight scene in Hong Kong building. Worst fight of them all in Dark Knight its almost embarrassing to watch. - hellbent6, on 11/04/2008, -0/+2dugg for Bourne.
- jcroweall7, on 11/04/2008, -0/+2At least they didn't plan a third movie from the start, like they did with the Pirates of the Caribbean, Matrix and Star Wars Prequel Trilogy movies. Those suffered from needing to fill out 2 movies with the plot of 1 movie. I have faith in Christopher Nolan, if he should decide to do another Batman.
- AManWithNoName, on 11/04/2008, -0/+2Dugg for Prisoner of Azkaban. Harry Potter gets a lot of ***** for being a 'kiddy franchise', but the books were pretty good and a couple of the movies were damn good. Agreed that Azkaban owns the franchise, though.
- ianlons, on 11/04/2008, -0/+2I'm digging you up, my friend
- BadWobot, on 11/04/2008, -0/+2Apparently not.
