Singleton Wants Woody Harrelson in 'The A-Team' Movie
cinematical.com — Director John Singleton said "I don't know who is in the cast yet...but I do know that the only person I want right now is, that I really, really want is Woody Harrelson to play Murdock – the guy who is crazy but he's kind of real smart, a jack of all trades. That's the only person I really, really want."

- iching, on 01/14/2008, -0/+27I heard that Jim Carey was mentioned but I think Woody is a much better choice.
- tian2992, on 01/14/2008, -8/+5I think woody is a much harder choice...
- ScoobyG, on 01/15/2008, -0/+1Ahhh digg him up. I laughed :-)
- tian2992, on 01/14/2008, -8/+5I think woody is a much harder choice...
- bamafun, on 01/14/2008, -0/+19Woody would be perfect - I hope he does it !
- badwithcomputer, on 01/14/2008, -17/+9title should have been A-Team Goes B-List
- hmmmok, on 01/14/2008, -0/+7Only TearJerker would do an A-Team movie.
- bjs3171, on 01/14/2008, -1/+6did you just call Woody Harrelson a B-Lister?
- astrotrain, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1We don't need another classic TV series to the silver screen, they are a waste of time and money.
Besides, I rather watch The B-Team...its funnier, and with Benny Hill playing all parts, you just can't
go wrong.

- theNazz, on 01/14/2008, -18/+4"I love it when a plan comes together" - Murdock
"I pity the fool..." - Mr. T- SpectralSounds, on 01/14/2008, -0/+18You have Murdock and Hannibal confused.
- notcarsondaly, on 01/14/2008, -4/+5FAIL. That was Hannibal, jack ass.
- elcaminos, on 01/14/2008, -5/+11jack nicholson for hannibal
- merripen, on 01/14/2008, -0/+8Maybe 20 years ago.
- astrotrain, on 01/14/2008, -1/+4Why not add a twist of humor, and case Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal... (yes pun intended)
Mr. T: "Yo! Fool! Stop lookin at me like I'm some kind of food!" - charlietuna, on 01/14/2008, -1/+2Hannibals dad perhaps.
- kurtwinter, on 01/14/2008, -8/+23Just as long as Katee Sackhoff plays Face. That would be ***** awesome.
- Otto, on 01/14/2008, -4/+1Face was a guy. Katee is definitely not a guy.
- merripen, on 01/14/2008, -1/+4I don't think kurt was confused on that point. Look at Sackhoff's recent portfolio of work.
- emja, on 01/14/2008, -3/+0Not the point. Kurt was quite clever in pointing out that Face, or Dirk Benedict, played Starbuck in the original BG - which of course Katee Sackoff reprised in the current series.
- Ndiggnation, on 01/14/2008, -1/+2They said the same think about Starbuck..
- astrotrain, on 01/14/2008, -1/+2** queue the Cylon Warrior walking in front of Face **
- charlietuna, on 01/14/2008, -2/+1I am the only other guy here who gets that. :-/

- Charlotte_Web, on 01/14/2008, -2/+2I'd rather see Katee tackle the BA Baracus role.
"I pity the foo!" - chocobomog, on 01/15/2008, -0/+1I wonder how many people will get the reference...
It wasn't until years later that I got the "joke" shown in each opening sequence of the A-Team where Face stares quizzically at a Battlestar Galactica Cylon.
- Otto, on 01/14/2008, -4/+1Face was a guy. Katee is definitely not a guy.
- Brianguy2000, on 01/14/2008, -2/+9I saw on Conan O'brien that Ice Cube is interested in being in the movie. He pity the fool too.
- ThndrShk2k, on 01/14/2008, -1/+1Seems like a nice fit. There are few actors who could cover Mr. T's ass on being B.A.
- dracostimpy, on 01/14/2008, -0/+4How about Michael Clarke Duncan?
- dinostabOMG, on 01/14/2008, -0/+5How about Mr. T? Isn't he the only reason that anyone cares about the A-team? I bet he's not too busy.
- glacius99, on 01/14/2008, -1/+2Yes, Ice Cube's direction as an actor portraying a suburban daddy in "Are We There/Done Yet?" is great preparation for being bad ass..
- astrotrain, on 01/14/2008, -5/+2How about Samuel L. Jackson?
- BrewBeau, on 01/14/2008, -1/+1How about Michael Clarke Duncan as B.A.?

- BoneheadFarker, on 01/14/2008, -1/+8Uh...call me crazy, but why not just use Dwight Schultz? Or has Star Trek tainted him?
- ericdano, on 01/14/2008, -2/+2Probably a little too old for the role.
- frasor, on 01/14/2008, -2/+2He hasn't aged a day! That's crazy!
- Otto, on 01/14/2008, -1/+1Dwight is looking a bit old for the role nowadays, even when he's not sporting the grey haired beard.
- ericdano, on 01/14/2008, -2/+2Probably a little too old for the role.
- Zipko, on 01/14/2008, -2/+7Mike Tyson for B.A.
/kidding, they better get Mr T.- hmmmok, on 01/14/2008, -0/+4Tyson is a cross between Murdock and BA .
- fungusmonkey, on 01/14/2008, -3/+48George Clooney for Hannibal, since he's been playing that role in Oceans 11 for 3 movies now.
- derubermensch, on 01/14/2008, -0/+2Agreed
- ericdano, on 01/14/2008, -8/+2Ben Browder as Murdock. Perfect. Can be insane, and funny. Barry Bonds as Mr. T. For Faceman, I'm going to with Orlando Bloom (or Kira Knightley, either one). Hannibal........Gotta be someone bad ass. Bruce Willis.
- fungusmonkey, on 01/14/2008, -2/+12Also, Luke Wilson for Face. That is all.
:)- McG2k1, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1gag
- mandarin, on 01/14/2008, -1/+1he's too mired on romance comedies to play an action role

- Acksull, on 01/14/2008, -8/+5Murdock was nuts. I gotta go with Jim Carey on this. Woody seems too laid back for the role.
http://bonn.freeshell.org/archives/murdock.jpg- LightPhoenix, on 01/14/2008, -2/+3Jim Carrey would do his typical overacting and limelight stealing, and ruin it completely. What was great about Schultz was that he was just over the top enough without being overbearing. Carrey is completely incapable of doing that in what is essentially a comedic role. By far the best suggestion I've heard so far is Jack Black - watch High Fidelity for how good a comic relief he is.
- guinsu, on 01/15/2008, -1/+0He was the worst part of that movie, he overacts constantly
- cocoabear, on 01/14/2008, -1/+0Have you seen Natural Born Killers?
- mandarin, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1Jim Carrey overreacts dude. This is the serious A-team and not the comedic movie according to the article.

- SteveTheSultan, on 01/14/2008, -7/+4Him or Matthew McConahey
- celeb, on 01/14/2008, -6/+9Ice Cube as Mr. T
- frasor, on 01/14/2008, -4/+3Will they not be using Mr. T as Barakas either? WTF?
- Pauli92, on 01/14/2008, -0/+0The very last episode of the orginal series was set in Spain and in the entire episode the orginal Murdoch was completely sane for the entire episode, what was up?
- br0ken1128, on 01/14/2008, -0/+3Well I gathered that a lot of his insanity was pretend during the series ..
- CraigJ, on 01/14/2008, -0/+6He wasn't really insane. He just pretended to be to piss off BA
- skye1924, on 01/14/2008, -0/+0That and the fact that it gave him a bed and free meal ticket at the Vet Hospital.
- Matri, on 01/15/2008, -0/+1Also makes for good cover. Who would you shoot first in a firefight: The guy aiming his gun at your head, or the one picking his nose with his gun?
- skye1924, on 01/14/2008, -0/+0That and the fact that it gave him a bed and free meal ticket at the Vet Hospital.
- sremick, on 01/14/2008, -4/+4Thing is, unless they had the real actors, this movie will just feel wrong. Especially to those of us who grew up with the A-Team (meaning, a lot older than most on Digg).
Problem is though that the current actors are all too old (or already dead). They should just leave it alone.- CedEx, on 01/14/2008, -0/+0How are they going to write the storyline? Four military men, accused of crimes in the Gulf War?
- bindermichi, on 01/17/2008, -0/+1Haven't you seen Four Kings? ;)
BTW: it already featured Clooney and Ice Cube.

- pyper, on 01/14/2008, -5/+10who in there right mind would want to play MR. T, can't see it being good for anyones career.
- bingobongony, on 01/14/2008, -1/+7I really don't think that too many actors would be looking at The A-Team Movie to be good for their careers no matter what. It is a quick buck.
- libertao, on 01/14/2008, -0/+4Probably fun to make too.
- emja, on 01/14/2008, -0/+2You're right, but Michael Clarke Duncan would have my vote.
- dbooster, on 01/15/2008, -1/+2Ice Cube would be the perfect BA
- bingobongony, on 01/14/2008, -1/+7I really don't think that too many actors would be looking at The A-Team Movie to be good for their careers no matter what. It is a quick buck.
- jamiroquai, on 01/14/2008, -1/+7Is he really, really sure that he really, really wants Woody Really Really Harrelson?
- signal15, on 01/14/2008, -1/+12Mr T. as Mr. T!
Although Ving Rames would be great.- lex0nyc, on 01/17/2008, -0/+1Ice Cube
- humboldt79, on 01/14/2008, -0/+5Woody was great in "No Country for Old Men"
- tdelet, on 01/14/2008, -4/+4Woody? Sure, but how do we get John Singleton off the movie?
- Strenoth, on 01/14/2008, -5/+3Hannibal could be played well by Richard Dean Anderson (aka MacGuyver) I think.
- stantonj123, on 01/14/2008, -1/+5Its too bad John Singleton spent his last bit of talent on Boyz n the Hood. I like Ving Rhames as B.A. Ice Cube would be pretty good too, but Ving is first choice. How about letting Dirk Benedict play Hannibal?
- bingobongony, on 01/14/2008, -4/+16Ron Paul for Hannibal 2008!
- naonao, on 01/14/2008, -5/+1Ice Cube for Mr. T!

It has a nice ring to it. - blacklilyninja, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1micheal clarke duncan for BA
Owen Wilson for Face
(they already worked together in armageddon)
and hell why not... Good ole die hard himself bruce willis as hannible
either that or flavor flav as everyone- dracostimpy, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1Not bad - I'm with ya on MCD for BA, but I gotta go with Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal. He should have no trouble forgetting his screen name and he is the baddest ass 70 year old I can think of.
Hrm, I just fact-checked that statement, and it appears that Dennis Hopper is actually 71. Therefore, Hopkins is the 2nd baddest ass 70 year old I can think of... in any case, I'll take either him or Hopper for Hannibal.
- dracostimpy, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1Not bad - I'm with ya on MCD for BA, but I gotta go with Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal. He should have no trouble forgetting his screen name and he is the baddest ass 70 year old I can think of.
- 1jaxstate1, on 01/14/2008, -1/+4Ice Cube as Mr T? WTF, why can't Mr T play Mr T fool!
- havok3114, on 01/14/2008, -4/+1Why oh Why do they want to take the A-Team and make it a movie?
- 5xSTUN, on 01/14/2008, -1/+3Dear Hollywood Lunatics:
Please, PLEASE STOP MAKING THESE STUPID MOVIES BASED ON OLD TV SHOWS! EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM, EVERY SINGLE ONE, HAS BEEN A BIG PIECE OF STUPID CRAP! YES! CAPS LOCK! I AM SHOUTING! LOUDLY!- Matri, on 01/15/2008, -0/+1All that's left is Airwolf.
- bindermichi, on 01/17/2008, -0/+1Same reasone they made 10 star trek movies,
same reason they made Starsky and Hutch,
same reason they make every single musical movie,
they're nuts!
- 5xSTUN, on 01/14/2008, -1/+3Dear Hollywood Lunatics:
- Kronos6948, on 01/14/2008, -2/+2Samwell for BA. Jai Rodrigues for Face, Ted Allen as Hannibal, and Carson Kressley as "Flaming Gay" Murdock. You've just hired the Gay Team.
- dracostimpy, on 01/14/2008, -0/+2Don't forget the pink/floral VW minibus!
- Kronos6948, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1actually they might drive a big flesh toned Hummer.
- dracostimpy, on 01/14/2008, -0/+2Don't forget the pink/floral VW minibus!
- bjs3171, on 01/14/2008, -2/+4another 80's property.
- astrotrain, on 01/14/2008, -0/+2Yep... next up Strawberry Shortcake: The Movie which will star Angelina Jolie as Strawberry Shortcake, and Ron Jeremy as The Purple Pieman of Porcupine Peak.
- OpaqueMurdock, on 01/14/2008, -2/+5Solution:
Do It all digital, Get the actors to voice themselves and all will be played by Andy Serkis. In fact, in the future every one will be played by Andy Serkis. : )- Matri, on 01/15/2008, -1/+1My precioussssss...
- GhostRidr, on 01/14/2008, -0/+2I nominate Sam Rockwell as Murdock.
- fungusmonkey, on 01/15/2008, -0/+1I second your nomination, sir.
- saranagati, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1Harilson would be great for murdoch since I don't remember murdoch being all that energetic, at least no where near as much as jim carey plays parts. He was more of just someone who would antagonize BA and cause shenanigans. Christian Bale would probable be great for the faceman (think american psycho), and if they don't use Mr. T again as BA, then maybe the rock. Some comments are mentioning ice cube to play the role, but I don't think he's a big enough guy to reprise that role. For hannibal, I have no idea, jack nicholas would be great if he was a little younger (he still may be able to pull it off though) and sean connerry would be good if he didn't have the accent. I'd hate to see clooney reprise that role since i really don't like the guy, but i think he may be the best for that part.
And yes i do realize i misspelled everyones names.- WhoDoneIt, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1Mr. T played by the Rock?!? The Rock is not "black" enough, he looks more Samoan then black and he's certainly not grimey enough. Imagine his face with a Mr. T beard.
How about BA played by Barack Obama, or we could call him BO.
- WhoDoneIt, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1Mr. T played by the Rock?!? The Rock is not "black" enough, he looks more Samoan then black and he's certainly not grimey enough. Imagine his face with a Mr. T beard.
- Gnasche, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1I think Jim Rash would be the perfect Murdoch, but he's probably too unknown for a studio to use. (Andrew on Reno 911, Fenton on That 70's Show, the T.A. in Slackers)
- xlar54, on 01/14/2008, -0/+2I cant quite see this being a very good film at all. The original cast is what made the series. Watching this will be nothing more than witnessing people trying to portray the orginal cast. Set up for fail.
- britblogger, on 01/14/2008, -0/+3why can't they just leave the classic 80's television shows well alone? look what they did with The Dukes of Hazzard, and what they're currently doing with Knight Rider.
It's a shame the writers of today simply aren't as good as they used to be.
Seriously, do you think in 20 years our kids will be saying, "wow, remember that awesome show we used to watch in 2007?" no they won't.- astrotrain, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1Hollywood is out of ideas... and they are betting on movies and tv shows this generation has not seen yet to turn into box office hits. When in reality they just keep ruining great shows and movies of the past.
Yeah its a shame what they are doing with Knight Rider... and even scarier that they have brought Terminator to the small screen with Star Wars not to far behind.- Matri, on 01/15/2008, -0/+1Wait till they start on Airwolf. Then it will be complete.
- bindermichi, on 01/17/2008, -0/+1I wonder, what they could possibly do to the Knight Rider franchise that hasn't already failed... hmmm
Make a Move.... done, was terrible
Make a SpinOff TV Show... done was even worse
Make another Movie... That will be great!
yeah, like duh!
- astrotrain, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1Hollywood is out of ideas... and they are betting on movies and tv shows this generation has not seen yet to turn into box office hits. When in reality they just keep ruining great shows and movies of the past.
- wespadfield, on 01/14/2008, -1/+1How about William Peterson, aka Gil Grissom on CSI, as Hannibal? His resemblance to George Peppard is striking.
- Sheff, on 01/14/2008, -1/+0Get Woody some hemp and he'll fit the role some just fine.
- olivercross, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1Everyone seems to be saying how rubbish its going to be however I do thing it'll be one of the best movies ever. A bit like the Wii but different in both senses.
- bindermichi, on 01/17/2008, -0/+1Guess we are all youst recalling something called experience with past movie "reinterpretations" of old TV shows like: Starsky & Hutch, Miami Vice, Dukes of Hazzard, Scooby Doo, ... you name it.
None of them was really good, although I have to admit, that Starky & Hutch worked well as a comedy and buddy movie, but not as a remake.
- bindermichi, on 01/17/2008, -0/+1Guess we are all youst recalling something called experience with past movie "reinterpretations" of old TV shows like: Starsky & Hutch, Miami Vice, Dukes of Hazzard, Scooby Doo, ... you name it.
- ChunkerMunker, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1Ving Rhames, Michael Clarke are both good choices to play B.A.
Ice Cube is too small to play him.
If I had my choice it'll be Bob Sapp or even Kimbo.
Harrelson would be a nice choice. If not him Will Arnett.
Face is can be played by dozens of actors.
Clooney is the ONLY that should play Hannibal. - hmunkey, on 01/14/2008, -0/+5In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum-security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the
A-Team.
/I love that - heynow21, on 01/14/2008, -1/+0I nominate Sasha Baron Cohen as BA Baracus. He nailed it in Indahouse.
- bindermichi, on 01/17/2008, -0/+1Ali-G as BA... that has a ring to it, but would just be too silly :)
- tybris, on 01/14/2008, -2/+3There should not be an A-Team movie. It could never be anywhere near the series.
- skellener, on 01/14/2008, -1/+4There is no reason this movie should be made.
- shampoovta, on 01/14/2008, -0/+3 Hollywood,...You will be missed for you are dead.
- defektiv, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1i don't know. when i read the headline i immediately thought 'Murdoch' although it's hard to place him in any other role on that team. he does seem to be quite a perfect fit. Murdoch had that kind of vague recollection of sense that Harrelson is usually typecast into.
