- sdball, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Starship Troopers was NOT A VIDEO GAME MOVIE. Sorry to shout but without THREADED COMMENTS it's hard to ensure the right (wrong) people read.
Starship Troopers was (and is) a book by Robert Heinlein.
I think I'm too old for digg. That's weird. Back to slashdot for me. - sedgemonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Seven worst video game movies?
That's like picking the seven worst turds in a turd contest. - Cander, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well instead of resurrecting this list everytime a new Video game movie comes out, lets just all agree that they all suck.
:p - psyonide, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just another idiot with a blog spouting his worthless opinions.
- dolby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It is my worst nightmare all on one site. I remember seeing super Mario brother in the theater, I couldn't sleep for 3 days, and it toke me a week before I could play video games again. Oh the horror, the horror. The should be a warning attached to this digg.
May cause repressed memories of suckey of movies to resurface. - MightyGiant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1how about the worst diggs list.
- teamparadox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1How can you add starship troopers if it was a movie long before it was a game...?
- sonofa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1... or the Star Wars movies based on the Star Wars video games?
- DannyB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What about Mortal Kombat:Annihilation ... that movie was absolutely horrific.
- TokenUser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Isn't it kinda ironic that the list of bad video games based on movies is a much longer list?
- mojaam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just seven? Vid games -> Movies are usually bad
- SlashNot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Doom wasnt that bad, actually go watch it before you bandwagon to the hater group, Street Fighter wasnt that bad either. But all the others are true, Mortal Kombat annihilation should have definitly been on there. Dugg
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I am surprised Final Fantasy(not Advent Children)and Resident Evil didn't make it.
- Morph_Ball, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"I am surprised Final Fantasy(not Advent Children)and Resident Evil didn't make it."
Well, Spirits Within wasn't based off an actual game, so... - Morph_Ball, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Advent Children was excellent...
Um...
*Trys to think of another winner*
...
*Can't* - nlatimer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Double Dragon is watchable, and probably the least bad movie on that list.
Mortal Kombat is probably the best video game movie. (Advent Children might replace that once I'm able to see it) - Wartex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hey, I thought Wing Commander was pretty OK when I saw it a couple of years ago. However, the worst videogame movie is undoubtedly AvP! Ewww... that movie sucked sooo bad!

Episode 01 was about Video games and Movies with some funny ***** about Uwe Bowl. - Giddygoon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why isn't this just a list of Video Game Movies? You wouldn't need to say "worst" then.
- doomsquirrel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0derivative..
-dag - jeffremer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The Mortal Kombat movie was certainly worse than the Tomb Raider movie.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Make a SuperSmash Brothers Movie, lol
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0SuperMario Bros. haha lol
- steamynachos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wasn't Starship Troopers based on a book? I thought it was a good movie.
- snoozzell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I liked the super mario brothers movie. And starship troopers was a great flick.

- isolino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why stop at seven?
- bat-21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"With very few exceptions, video games simply have not translated into good movies- or even mediocre moves, for that matter."
Exceptions? Where? - wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Video game movies pretty much all suck ass. Trying to pick the seven worst is almost impossible, sort of like arguing which tooth would hurt the most to have a root canal done on sans local anesthesia.
- Cyrez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Street Fighter might have turned out ok if they knew what an amazing ass Kylie Minogue has. They could have just showed that off.
- SaintStryfe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Final Fantasy was a technical achivement, and was honestly pretty watchable. It wansn't GOOD, but it wasn't a betrayal of the game nor an abysmal movie. Just wasn't what we wanted.
- thegreenarrow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0****FINAL FANTASY******
ANYONE? - capndan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Is it a bad thing that I actually enjoyed all of those movies listed on some level? I also liked Wing commander, thank you very much.
(Please dont hurt me) - akamia123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Pokemon really shouldn't be on this list for the specific reason that it WAS written for 12 year old kids. You can't look at that one critically. It's like trying to find Oscar gold in a Hilary Duff movie. Don't over analyze a kids movie.
And technically it was a ***** movie based on a ***** TV show that was based on a game. - SaintStryfe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0And I'd expect better from someone who has Ollie Queen in thier username and profile picture. For shame...
- sonofa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What about the Scooby Doo movies based on the Scooby Doo video games?
- Computer_Kid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I thought the Doom movie was prity good! Not the best, but good!
- motionblur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Doom was entertaining and nothing more. Actually my g/f was very entertained by Doom. Weird. Maybe she wants to know what The Rock is cooking? :-o
- spacemanspork, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I still have great hopes for Silent Hill...
Just because the games so far have had cool stories (IMO) and there doesn't need to be any fan service aside from alternating worlds. Games 1+3, 2, and 4 have had very different storylines. - Reilala, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I actually like the Super Mario Brothers movie. It entertains me!
- JimmyYeung, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think Pixar or whatever it is now should make a animated feature of the Mario Bros have it more directed for that general audience like the same people who make all the movies like Toy Story, Finding Nemo, and The Incredibles should be the same people making a Super Mario Bros. Movie
- josh_the_only, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0 the only real good game is starwars
- cesclaveria, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I really like the first Mortal Kombat movie... the second was painful to wath, a tru fatality.
I have always wonder how a Zelda movie could be?? - G-RaZoR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is just some guy composing 7 movies he hates. Super Mario bros is a very good TV show/movie....
- AuAndCs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I liked the Mario movie : (
- Omadhaun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sin: the Movie was anime, so it doesn't count as a crappy hollywood portrayol of video games. The greatest thing about Uwe Boll is that when you go to his IMDB page (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0093051/) to see his projects, ALL of them that are scheduled to come out are video game movies: Bloodrayne, Dungeon Siege, FarCry, Fear Effect. It's a pretty grim looking future. The rumor mill also suggests that he might make the Postal video game movie as well (http://www.themovieblog.com/archives/2005/06/uwe_boll_for_postal_videogame_movie.html). *shudders*
- terrya64, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I actually enjoyed the tomb raider movies, perhaps because I never played the games? I also liked House of the Dead. People need to realize that it is very hard to translate a video game with not much of a story into a 2 hour movie.Or vice versa a game with lots of background into a 2 hour movie. It's the same complaint people make about movies that are made out of books you've read, how many time have you heard this " the book was much better".
- Bocaj22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I thought the first resident evil was enjoyable, mortal kombat, tomb raider, and street fighter were entertaining - as far as a good movie, non of them are, but at least entertaining. - I do have hope for Halo though, i really dont think Bungie is going to let it come out unless it lives up
- stanleyfresh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The big question is... "Is 'The Warriors' any good?"
- immrlizard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have to disagree with it in a way. I will agree that none of these are or would ever be considered great movies, but I liked Doom (with the exception of the acting by the Rock) It all goes back to just what you are expecting from the movie. If you went to see Doom with the expectation of seeing anther gone with the wind caliber of movie you are going to be disappointed. I went to see it this last weekend with the understanding that The rock was one of the key characters and knows from past experience that he has very little acting ability and liked it for what it was. It is a movie done about a game that attempts to put you in their place. With all of the crap coming out of hollywood these days, who can complain. At least about something that I have a little interet in and not another love story with used to be actors and no story line
