I will seed it as long as needed! - optimusprime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Serenity rocked. That is all.
- Chewie67, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Cool idea. It really sucks that the box office numbers are low. I saw it for the first time yesterday, and thought it was a great movie. I'm no "super fan", but I'd recommend it to anyone who like Sci Fi.
- rharo.jr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I will seed as well once downloaded, thanks cheesetoe. Serenity was great and it meant so much more watching the episodes beforehand.
- junkyinny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1good movie. shawd up
- jamester, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not putting you down, Reliant, but I believe that was the file was meant more for those people who didn't want to sit through the entire series. Kind of a primer, if you will. Me, I've got the series on DVD, but this still gets my digg.
- dfekke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!
Who cares! - rifter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I took my girlfriend to see Serenity and she enjoyed it. She has never seen the series, so it was interesting to hear her talk about it.
Indeed the movie makes more sense if you've seen the series, but it isn't a must in order to understand what happens in the movie. Matter of fact, from the episodes I've seen there is a slight discrepancy in the way that River was taken out of the facility her brother found her in. The movie version was much better imo, but there was a difference compared to the flashback the brother has on the series.
I wish so much that this show would take on a full season. Hell, I'd be happy if this show took on a following that Stargate has. Firefly is awesome. It may be a little rough around the edges, but that is what gives the show its "old west" type feel. The intro music is pretty catchy to boot.
There are some good laughs in Serenity, along with some pretty emotional scenes. IMO the director/producer/writer get you to care for the characters until... well I'll let you see the movie. - antron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's nice of you to put your url on it so they know where to send the cease and desist letter.
Oh, and next time save your quicktime movie as Fast-Start so one doesn't have to wait until the whole movie downloads to start watching it. - jruckman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0excellent!, thanks -- I'm adding this to my site

Hak.5 - airlounge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wow! thank you very much jruckman, Serenity has only just come out in the UK - & Firefly hasn't aired over here at all.. (well not to my knowledge!)
This has given me a real taster. Cheers for your time & effort. - jruckman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0thanks jackusage, i've heard of this, but never used it myself -- i've updated my site to include this link
- jruckman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just found the series myself a couple weeks ago -- I had been skeptical up to that point because I'd only seen the first episode and didn't really care for it. Taken as a whole, the series is really good, especially the last several episodes where they all know it's going to be cancelled. Had it not been for everyone's persistent enthusiasm, I would have never given it, or the movie, a second chance.
I put this together for people who may not care enough to watch the series, or have bad opinions of it (as I did) due to not having seen the whole thing, and otherwise wouldn't go see the movie; or, if you ending up dragging some friends along to go see it and want to give them some quick and painless background. - Ravenlock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ryland - Wow, that would have been a ridiculously stupid reason to not see a great film. :-p
jruckman - Sound like a neat idea. Downloading now. - jruckman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0thanks scottsizemore!
- MikeDawg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm trying to remember the Chinese translation of "Fan Boy" while another Serenity article makes it to the front page. Don't you guys ever get enough of Joss and this movie?
- kingofallchili, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm a new fan. Saw the movie this weekend. It's interesting to see this afterwards.
- jruckman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If anyone has some extra bandwidth to host this (or knows how to set up a torrent), I’d be much obliged. I’ve only got about 15GBs left this month, and after that, I might have to take the file down. You might not be able to stop the signal, but you sure as hell can rack up charges somethin’ fierce.
- scottsizemore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0mirror: http://scottsizemore.com/files/Firefly-Serenity.mov
- Reliant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not putting this down, and I realize why it was done, but I'd rather rent the DVD's and see the entire series in full context.
- thinkdif, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you haven't seen the movie yet, see it, its amazing. This clip is very shiny for those who didn't watch Firefly
Keep Flyin' - jruckman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0antron: This is my first attempt at video editing/compression -- I'm going to re-encode these as 5 separate clips so I can host them on Coral Cache (they have a file size limit), and i'll use Fast-Start then. Also, I'm not trying to hide. If Fox/Universal wants me to take it down, I will. I keep my cargo in plain sight.
- binarypower, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0With all the moaning about this movie I feel compelled to watch it. I really don't want to see it, but we will see what happens....
- Shmigget, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Browncoat" is a name taken directly from the series, keng, and it has no relation whatsoever to the Brownshirts. The Browncoats were fighting for independence from a monolithic government, not trying to conquer or impose their beliefs on anybody else. The first episode of "Firefly" makes this clear.
I can't recommend the DVD set of "Firefly" enough, but I'll seed this file for those who just want to get the gist.
Regarding ryland's comments above, if it wasn't for the evangelism of fans of "Firefly" the feature film would have never been made. "Firefly" was a television series that didn't even run one full season, yet there's an excellent feature film based on it playing in theatres right now. That doesn't happen without the passion of supportive fans. Many of us fans, including myself, have worked for three years to make this movie happen. Over that time, here's some of what we've accomplished: donated time and money to place a full page ad in "Variety" magazine, multiple letter-writing campaigns to Fox, UPN, WB, Sci-Fi Channel, and Universal Studios, multiple nationwide charity events that have benefited the homeless and well as American military personnel worldwide.
So I'm sorry if the excitement seems a bit much, but we love this story and these characters, and we hope others will too. - mikereads, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think I'm the only geek in the world who hated that movie.
- riot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Temporary links to the file
http://mrmassey.net/dcl1.9/index.php?Firefly-Serenity.mov - keng, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"The Browncoats were fighting for independence from a monolithic government, not trying to conquer or impose their beliefs on anybody else."
But, isn't that exactly what rebels do? They just try to "...impose their beliefs on..." a smaller group of people? - fudgebrown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0great flick - now i gotta get that Firefly DVD set... - - can't wait for the Serenity DVD...
- Patriot-X, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Day late. Dollar short. Good idea, but the horse is out of the barn.
Saw the flick four times, but second weekend box office was not high. Film will break even for certain, then probably do well in DVD sales, but response seems low enough that this may be the end of any franchise.
All of you who don't like browncoats? Want us to give it a rest? Not likely. We evangelize excellent sci fi and art. You evangelize YOUR selfishness. Just depends on what ya love. - keng, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0WHOA!!!
you may want to choose a different nick name other than "browncoat".
The Brownshirts were a key group assisting Hitler to his rise in power.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown_shirt - dominiccarr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm a big fan of Firefly/Serenity, I think this is a fantastic idea, Bravo!
I'll be sure to spread the word about this on the Message Boards that I frequent. :)
Oh and Dugg. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No, I watched Serenity First, and fell in love with firefly afterwards... I actually thing I got more out of firefly because of serenity...
- Bookwrym, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you watch the show, you understand Browncoat.
- ManiacFive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If i hadnt just ordered the DVD's I'd think was a great idea! nice effort, but i'll save folks bandwidth for other folk.
Never saw Firefly or knew anything about it until serenity came out, then figured I'd see it cause it was a quirky little sci fi movie, probably forget about it. but no. Very very cool. - mattman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0While I applaud the idea of a nice vid-summary of the series to coax the non-browncoats out there into seeing Serenity, I was annoyed with the scenes chosen. I haven't read all the comments, so I don't know if this has been addressed already, but WTF? The entire concept of the show was left unexplained. Why not begin with Mal's voiceover that introduces some episodes, the "Here's how it is... etc." If people know nothing about the show, they'd probably want to know we're 500ish years in the future, Alliance is bad, and Mal was on the losing side of the war. As much as I love the blue sun creeps chasing our heroes in Ariel, it really doesn't help to build interest. If anything, showing guards with blood gushing out their eyes would detract those who might have had interest in the series before. I dunno. I could be wrong. I just think some more bases needed to be covered before more complicated events like River's POV in Objects in Space. The 2 hour pilot has tons of stuff that was ignored in this summary...
However, once again I really like the idea, and always love watching some great Firefly moments... - HoGiHung, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Maybe it is time for a direct to DVD series. I never saw Firefly when it was on TV. I read about it on the web somewheres and got the DVDs. Could they make enough from DVD sales per season to support the program?
Ho. - Agent_M, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Does watching Serenity spoil Firefly? I have yet to see the series and am planning on seeing the film this weekend.
- RDurfee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@mikereads: You're not the only one.
I never watched Firefly, but thought I would go see Serenity to see what the fuss was about. I don't get what the big deal is. It's just your average sci-fi movie. Afterwards, the guy I went with said "I can see why they cancelled it."
I was rolling my eyes at the whole cannibal "plot twist" at the end. LAME. - Mongoose, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Gawd, that movie was so horrible......
- Ryland, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I think you evangelists may have kept more people away from seeing Serenity than you drew in. Give it a freakin' rest, please. Hell, I liked the show and I enjoyed the movie, and I still almost didn't go see it because of you people.
- Miyazaki, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Browncoats are nuts...there, I said it. Enjoy the movie, but leave the rest of us alone.
