- TVChick, on 10/10/2007, -14/+103It wasn't a "massive flop in theaters," seeing as how it made back it's money from the theater. And way to give out a huge spoiler in your description... (There are some poor souls who still haven't seen the Big Damn Movie, ya know?)
- dwelter, on 10/10/2007, -4/+92Take my love, take my land
Take me where I cannot stand
I don't care, I'm still free
You can't take the sky from me
Take me out to the black
Tell them I ain't coming back
Burn the land and boil the sea
You can't take the sky from me - Meara282, on 10/10/2007, -3/+79One word for y'all: flashbacks! We need Wash's back story (so we can have more Alan in the film), and we REALLY need Book's back story. Hey, Joss owes us! LOL Give us our Big Damn Sequel, gorrammit!
- hippieben, on 11/25/2007, -1/+55Browncoats forever!!
- CasualAffair, on 10/10/2007, -1/+40Kaylee Frye, will you marry me?
- Veritate, on 10/10/2007, -0/+35I just watched Firefly/Serenity in July, had never really known it existed before that. After seeing the pilot, I was really angry they'd cancelled it after one season.
- RootDaddy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+31I'm not digging this because I think it's going to happen, I'm digging this because I want to believe it will.
- chocobomog, on 10/10/2007, -4/+34I would normally agree, but it has been two years since the movie came out. If someone was a fan of Firefly they would have seen the movie by now. And even if not, how many non-fans know who Alan Tudyk is? It doesn't hurt to knowing his character dies if you have no idea which character he plays.
- jponah, on 10/10/2007, -1/+30I would love a sequel!
- Portwineboy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+29I'd love to see this happen. If it does, well, then, I'll be in my bunk.
- darksheer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+24More Firefly can only be a good thing.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+21Jayne!
The Man they call Jayne!
He robbed from the rich and he gave to the poor,
He stood up to the man and he gave him what for.
Our love for him now, ain't hard to explain,
The hero of Canton, the man they call Jayne!
Jayne saw the mudder's backs breakin',
And he saw the mudder's lament,
And he saw the magistrate takin',
Every dollar and takin' five cents.
He said, "You can't do this to my people,
you can't crush them under your heel."
So Jayne strapped on his hat, and in five seconds flat
He stole everything boss Higgins had to steal.
He robbed from the rich and he gave to the poor,
Stood up to The Man and gave him what for,
Our love for him now ain't hard to explain,
The Hero of Canton, the man they call Jayne!
Now here is what seperates heroes from common folk like you and I,
The man they call Jayne, he turned 'round his plane,
And let that money hit sky.
He dropped it onto our houses,
He dropped it into our yard.
The man they call Jayne, he turned 'round his plane,
And headed out towards the stars.
He robbed from the rich and he gave to the poor,
He stood up to The Man and gave him what for,
Our love for him now ain't hard to explain,
The Hero of Canton, the man they call Jayne! - sandyg, on 10/10/2007, -2/+23Yes! Yes! More, please, Mr. Whedon!
- parax, on 10/10/2007, -1/+22I agree that it was not a massive flop. I always thought a "flop" was when a movie lost money, not when it fails to make people rich, but it did that too. The DVD sales were pure profit, and then the cow got milked again with the HD-DVD. All told, the movie made over $80m in profit, how is that a flop at all? I wish my failures were worth $80m
- SvMidtown, on 10/10/2007, -1/+19It's sad that reading just the first two lines gave me chills.
- fiendlama, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17Serenity now!!
- meez, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17Two Serenity stories in the top 10 is better than one Serenity story in the top 10. Simple math!
- NeoCortex, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18But it's Firefly, so it's excused.
- meez, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16Have no place I can be since I found Serenity.
You can't take the sky from me. - semicharmedchck, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16*SQUEAL*
- corde5, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14I really can't see any of those technologies fitting in to the Firefly universe.
- Raycheetah, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13Wash died, Book, too, but, Joss has stated, for the record (found in Serenity: The Official Visual Companion, page 56, column 2, paragraph 2), that these characters could show up again in another movie. Let's hope we get to find out about Book, for sure, this time! -Raycheetah =^[.]^=
- witcompe, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13I care!
- Sinistocrat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13This is the only duplicate story I will digg ever.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13well ain't that just gorram shiney!
- Protoss, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12You can't stop the signal....
- Scorpy2643, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13I read this, got all kinds of excited.
We've done the impossible once already, so I began to hope for it again.
Against all sense and reason, I believe we can have more Firefly.
Then I realized, this is something that people in Hollywood have tried to kill, more than once, and yet it's following persists. People in power attack, roadblock, and underestimate.
In that moment I understood the Ron Paul people. Against all reason and common sense they hope. They believe. Who am I to criticize? - GoatMonkey2112, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Being dead never stopped Buffy from making shows.
- anorexicpillow, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Serenity: Better Days is still due out this fall (A comic book about the serenity crew and how a job finally goes right.) So that series is something I'm looking forward to, hopefully the second movie deal goes through.
- Alexbalix, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12This needs to happen.
- tehmark, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13Repeat of a previous post.
- Sithicas, on 10/15/2007, -2/+11http://digg.com/movies/Rumor_Serenity_Sequel_on_th ...
- Protoss, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Agreed. Joss could always go back and tell more of their backstories. One of my friends biggest gripes about the film was that it didn't tell anything about Shepards story, how the Alliance left the ship after seeing who he was. It was a hastily created 'closure' to the series.
- snurfle, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10FOX owes us.
- Klink258, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9A new Serenity?
Shiney. - Pilot85, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9I think there is a statute of limitations on spoilers.
- bakedbeans4life, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10I too would normally agree, but unfortunately that spoiler was news for me. I just borrowed the Firefly series last week from a friend and fell in love with it. I have plans to buy Serenity this weekend and watch it. Oh well, l at least I don't have to worry if some story ploy with magically bring the character back to life.
- Kypt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8No need to force yourself. Different tastes for different people. On my side of things I loved Firefly/Serenity but could never get into Buffy/Angel.
- Protoss, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9You can't stop the signal.
- f3l1x, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8TRAP!!!
</funniest out-take ever> - KMHansing, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10Oohhhh... flashbacks... or... maybe he has an evil twin? =D
- CarolJude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Dear Buddha: Forget all that other stuff, just bring me another live action Firefly. Thank you.
- TitanX13, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7it was a great movie. saw it in theaters. i hope they make a 2nd
- Senshi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7The truth is that there hasn't been that many good movies out, let along sequels.
- BobSutan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Mal: Go find that little kid thats taking a dirt nap with baby Jesus; I need a hood ornament. And Jayne, try not to steal too much of their *****!
- MalDON, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9I just watched the hd dvd. Love the movie.
- troymccluresf, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9If someone was a fan of Firefly they would have seen the movie by now. - Notnecessarily... I converted someone just a few months ago.
And even if not, how many non-fans know who Alan Tudyk is? - Anyone who's been watching the Apatow/Frat Pack movies (Dodgeball, Knocked Up...) - neodorian, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6It's all good. I just finally got around to watching Firefly this week and started watching Serenity before work today. It spoiled that little thing but the good stories are in the telling, not the ending. I'm not really upset. I'd love to see another movie though.
- TVChick, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8The production cost was made up in the theater release.
*Source: Joss Whedon - fadetoone, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7I agree on the massive flop comment. I certainly don't recall hearing anyone saying that. I'm sure the movie studio may have been disappointed in the box office take, but really, every studio is disappointed when any film doesn't make a billion dollars...
