- SteveWoz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It's real. It's about fun. We are careful. We don't damage grass. We demonstrated this to the Sunnyvale Park and Rec staff to get permits and we pay Sunnyvale to use the field. We come from all over but play in Sunnyvale because several of us live near this park. We also play in Oakland.
We play in Sunnyvale at 11 AM on the first and third Sundays of each month at Ponderosa Park in Sunnyvale. Sometimes we start at 10 AM. Come by and you'll see how fun Segway polo is.We'll gladly instruct you on riding Segways and we even let beginners get their ears wet at the game. - stuartm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2As one of the geeks in that video I will tell you that it's a lot of fun, not that dangerous and does absolutely no damage to the grass (by the way, several players live in Sunnyvale). That video is over a year old and shows one of our first games... we're better now but it still looks pretty geeky.
Stuart - docbaily, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ha Ha rich kids. What WILL they do next?
- pillfred, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3What a waste of money
- wolfger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Who in their right mind comes to digg.com and then complains about nerdiness? Digg, Slashdot, et al, are nerd central. Posting "nerd alert" here is like walking into a hospital and saying "there's sick people here".
- camintmier, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Segway Polo: Another fun way to kill yourself while riding a Segway
- Ashenfield, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's just awesome :)
- gwjc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's not Woz; it's a bot the Woz wrote that found this digg, created an account and posted that message. If any diggers live near Ponderosa park they must go on the given Sunday and confirm the truth of it's comment for the rest of us.
- leehord, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That looks awesome! I'm want a go!!
- Thundercat1971, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Love the segways! Did a segway tour in WDW and in Washington DC. They are TONS of fun, but after riding for a while your feet get really really sore from basically stainding in once spot for an hour or two.
- Rggoalie3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Good stuff. Thats a digg for me. I wish I had a segway to play this now. Well, and three friends who have one too...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ahhaah, i'd liek to do that.

- wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1At least somebody has figured out something to do with these otherwise useless, very expensive toys.
- kvidell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why is that so damn entertaining?
Good deal! - Webler707, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Ha Ha rich kids. What WILL they do next?"
I don't know, buy more segways and play bigger games, but change it to lacross perhaps.
That would be a video worth watching. - thegrinder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1When you guys grow up, some of you will make more money then you will know what to do with. Those are the type of people that buy segways.
- splitsixty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Segway breakdancing...
- dravidian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow that looks like fun. Though I thought those things are designed not to fall over?
- dierien2001, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Bah.. White uppity nonsense sport played on overpriced scooters

Umm, you're a bit daft, aren't you?
They've been playing there for over a year with absolutely no damage to the grass. In fact, Segways actually do less damage to a field than people running around playing soccer, because the weight of the person is distributed over a greater surface area (the bottom of two tires), than when someone takes a step or runs (their weight is on their toes).
I can just imagine what goes on in your head.
"WOW SOMETHING I DON'T UNDERSTAND BAN BAN HUR HUR!" - jonbauer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm another geek in the video. It IS fun. Expensive toy? Sorta. Some DO commute on em - I don't. Great technology? Fun diversion? Definitely.
- sens, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's just fantastic.
- BenDuffy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is what the Segway needs!
Segway suffers from safeness and boringness.
Take the restrictor off it to let them go 25mph!!!
A little more danger and they'll sell like mad.
Get off the "privelidged" people bashing too, lots of ordinary people have a weekend car or motorcycle that they use just for fun. This is no different.
Digg is way too full of social and OS bashers.
Get over it ppl "Deus gustibus non es disputandum" - gnosis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Other fun sports you can do on a Segway:
Segway Chess
Segway Darts
Segway Parachuting
Segway Diving
Segway Pommel Horse
among others. - mogdor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1looks kinda dangerous (though fun)
- jack_dt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0nothing beats bike polo: www.axlesofevil.org
- anisettamonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i digg not. yea, it new and semi innovative, but really now? thats as far as it goes. try maybe attaching rotating blades on the sides, then we'll start talking.
- Pegasus_Strain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Was listening to TWIT Episode 35 and Woz was talking about how is in involved in Segway Polo!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lmao at chiapet i guess nobody got it "hellafun" would be a bay area/central valley word.
THis looks pretty good and is a good idea in theory but the segway was not designed for this, you have to admire the segway's computer controlled self balancing, but then again who has the money? The segway is pretty much crap to use in this 'game' now if they modifyed it a little bit and added some sort of third wheel to the front and back making it easyer to jump back on when you're knocked off. Put on some pads, soup up the segways and ram the hell out of each other. WOuld be funner as an 'extreme sport' but the segway...just isn't extreme enough, i think I even saw the handle bar rip off? or is it detacheable... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I've been working with the Sunnyvale City Council to do somthing about this! - jeranamo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yet another way to show people who ride segways around are fags
- LSavain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just imagine how much fun that would be without the segways!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0talk about excercise!
- kristianwelsh, on 06/15/2009, -0/+0Awesome segway. I need to get one.
http://sbkreview.com - fushin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I saw a group of people on these things in D.C. next to the capitol. I just don't see the appeal in a Segway.
- krolls, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Someone should post itsi's video
- stuartm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's really Woz. :-)
