- smacksaw, on 10/03/2009, -2/+27I seriously hope that movie doesn't end up with him being killed or imagining the whole thing or being committed...
- bashnu, on 10/03/2009, -5/+18DiCaprio character is obviously one of the insane.
- SasaLukac, on 10/03/2009, -0/+8Scorsese doesn't make mistakes like that, he wouldn't let you understand the depth of the movie through the trailer alone. Did anyone here predict the end of The Departed after seeing the trailer?
- AiR1890, on 10/03/2009, -1/+9I was thinking the same thing when I watched the trailer. Looks like a pretty cliche movie.
- jawdog, on 10/03/2009, -0/+7Elias Koteas. the guy who played Casey Jones from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the movie
- Tryptomine, on 10/03/2009, -0/+5Having just finished the book this was based on a few days ago, I must say I'm quite looking forward to the movie now.
While the plot revelations are hardly the most unexpected, it does a very good job with what it gives itself to work with. It's well-paced and manages to keep you questioning thing so that by the end when all is revealed, it seems much more surprising then it probably should. The final epilogue also manages to be quite open and ambiguous, causing you to wonder about it even after its over.
Overall, definitely recommend the book, its a good read, and I'm can't wait to see the film. - Stoyanov, on 10/03/2009, -0/+4Whoa, you worked it out already. This is as much of a spoiler as knowing The Titanic is going to sink. To be honest, this is just a teeny tiny twist. The rest is pure *****.
- hakkola, on 10/03/2009, -1/+5Was that DeNiro with the scar?
- skyadd, on 10/03/2009, -0/+3While the plot *may* fall to cliches, the trailer alone shows Scorsese at his A-game.
Look to The Departed or even Cape Fear. This man sure knows how to make a great genre film.
Bumping the release back to 2010 was SHAMEFUL. - proplayer805, on 10/03/2009, -0/+2i think so, creepy, but my guess is yes.
- TheDiggAbides, on 10/03/2009, -1/+3Looks a bit over the top but I'll sooner go to hell than miss out on seeing a new Scorsese movie
- inkubusfan, on 10/03/2009, -2/+4looks so ***** good.
- Stoyanov, on 10/03/2009, -0/+2Nope, that's Elias Koteas as talked about just a few posts above. Hopefully, though, DeNiro is going to have a cameo.
- db0255, on 10/04/2009, -0/+2Yeah guess that comment was pointless as *****. Still looks like a good movie.
- TwwIX, on 10/03/2009, -1/+3These trailers are filled with spoilers. This looks very predictable unless he changed the ending of the book.
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 10/03/2009, -2/+4I've seen the first trailer 6 times already. They play it before every single movie in the theater. It's to the point that I have no interest in this movie.
- Leezus, on 10/03/2009, -0/+2Your sarcasm is cute and all, but trust in Mr Scorsese's talent is not often misplaced.
- MrMugoo, on 10/03/2009, -1/+3Well I knew it was a remake of another film with the same ending. So I saw it coming.
- KevenM, on 10/03/2009, -0/+2Winner!
- Stoyanov, on 10/03/2009, -1/+3I strongly suggest the book to everyone who actually reads nowadays and likes thrillers. Especially psychological ones.
This is, as most of Scosese's works, a contemporary masterpiece in the making.
You can get the 720p and 1080p trailers at http://www.hd-trailers.net/movie/shutter_island/ - smacksaw, on 10/04/2009, -0/+1I was just hoping it would stay true to the original, LOL.
- db0255, on 10/03/2009, -1/+2Similar, but I don't think so...
- titomiko, on 10/03/2009, -0/+1From first trailer I thought that most of patients are there just like Leonardo and are not insane when they were brought in. So he gets in to investigate but they dont want to let him go, just like the others. I hope it is not so straightforward like this because then trailer gives away way too much...
- SasaLukac, on 10/03/2009, -0/+1Definitely him, which makes me want to see it all the more
- KevenM, on 10/03/2009, -0/+1Nope. Not him - Elias Koteas
- Tryptomine, on 10/03/2009, -0/+1I openly acknowledge I'm a terrible typist and didn't proofread the whole thing. Oh well.
- BowieX, on 10/03/2009, -0/+1No, you're the crazy one.
RUN! - Navicerts, on 10/04/2009, -0/+1i don't see anything wrong with him being killed or committed (isn't that the antithesis of the whole movie, committed, escaped, killed...?), imagining would be lame though...
- KevenM, on 10/03/2009, -0/+1Why would DeNiro have a cameo?
- BunkeyLunkey, on 10/04/2009, -0/+1Looks like Amy Poehler shooshing Leonardo in the beginning...
- Frostek, on 10/04/2009, -0/+1Ninth Configuration-style twist?
- inactive, on 10/04/2009, -0/+1Uh, you're seriously suggesting that "Cape Fear" was Scorsese at his A-Game?
- KevenM, on 10/03/2009, -0/+1This is the part where I add nothing to the discussion, but only to point out to the rest of the world that I have also read this book.
- antdude, on 10/03/2009, -0/+1Thanks for the video file links. The Flash video wasn't working (404 error according to Orbit's GrabIt).
- inactive, on 10/04/2009, -1/+1Thanks, DJ Jazzy Trevor. Glad you could take time from listening to your Metallica albums and beating off to gay porn to share your insights with us.
- inactive, on 10/04/2009, -1/+1I'd like to personally thank everyone who's pretending to have read the book.
- MrMugoo, on 10/03/2009, -1/+1Any one else see Bobby DeNiro in a quick shot? I hope Im right, that would be banging on so many levels.
- db0255, on 10/03/2009, -3/+1looks legit as hell. and scary!
- inactive, on 10/03/2009, -7/+3How dare you have a negative opinion about a movie that the Internet has already decided will be awesome?
The fact is that it DOES look terrible, from DiCaprio's accent (which makes Keanu Reeves sound like a Master of Dialects in comparison) to the endless array of bad cliches trotted out, one after another. But since Net Geeks have decided to love it, (much like they decided to love Avatar, sight-unseen) you WILL be buried for going against Group-Think. - bashnu, on 10/03/2009, -6/+2This is an insult to those who stutter.
- peligro666, on 10/03/2009, -6/+1I pooed into my pants a little...
- Aloyarc, on 10/03/2009, -8/+1I agree.
- BowieX, on 10/03/2009, -11/+1"definately" (among other terrible chains of words) = fail.
- hascat, on 10/03/2009, -20/+3this movie looks terrible
