Nice call on the Titanic budget....$250 Mil estimated....WOW!
"I thought that the new Harry Potter flick has the largest budget. Am I wrong?"
ehhhhh NO! I think Waterworld destroyed that budget.
1. Superman Returns Budget - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0348150/business
2. Titanic Budget - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120338/business
3. Harry Potter Budget - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0330373/business - Stryker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"I have to echo bonlebon here... is it a movie about Superman or Jesus Christ?"
Watch the first movie. It's dialogue lifted straight from the sequence when Smallville Clark Kent is transformed into Superman. The Jesus imagery was intentional. Of course, people weren't as sensitive about it back then as they are now. - Silken13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have to echo bonlebon here... is it a movie about Superman or Jesus Christ?
"They only lack the light to show them the way... I have sent them you, my only son."
Or maybe unbeknownst to me (but beknownst to them), JC was a dude in tights and a cape. Those movie execs ARE pretty knowledgeable, after all. - Venkman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Looks like WB's got themselves a Loser on their hands. Christopher Reeves was the only man that could make that suit NOT look gay. And I like Kevin Spacey but, as Luther? I don't freakin' think so. They should have adapted the TV show (cast included) into a really good movie. This movie will sink like a stone."
Can you see into the future or something? You formed your paragraph and opinion from a teaser trailer that doesn't show much? Man, you must be good.I know people are entitled to their opinions, but yours has to be the stupidest, most uneducated opinion ever. What are you, 10?
"This movie will suck because the only thing I know about it is nothing, and I like the Smallville TV show that's getting canned soon."
I haven't seen the kid who is playing Superman act, but he looks the part. They made him look Christoper Reevesish to bridge this movie with the rest of the movies. Not the TV show.
Come on, kids. Look what Brian Singer did with X-Men. The cat had no budget to work with and he made one of the best comic book movies out there. Really, honestly, if this movie was going to, "sink like a stone," do you think Brian Singer, a big Superman fan and the director of the two X-Men movies that were both blockbuster gold, would drop X3 and bring his whole crew with him just to make a crappy Supe movie? You might pine for the old Superman movie and Tom Welling, but this movie will far surpass them.
Also, Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor? ***** yeah. Best casting choice ever.
"Aye, I see the same pattern. The trailor didn't do anything for me though. All I saw was a Christopher Reed wanna-be in a digital world. Gotta show me more for the ooz and ahhs"
Those ooz and aahhhs will come when you actually watch the film. Teaser trailer arn't supposed to show much. Hell, T3's teaser trailer didn't show anything but the logo and the Terminator theme music. Movie trailers are supposed to hint at things to come, but the OMG PEE MY PANTS OOHHS AND AAHHS won't come until you sit in the threater and watch it. - einsteindesign, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"After seeing the trailer I have to say that Marlon seems to be talking about Jesus Christ and not Superman, this is going to be a mild flop for Warner next year (if the movies is as lame as the trailer)."
The first script was laden with these references. In fact, Tom Makeiwicz and Dick Donner got death threats and nasty letters after speaking about those parallels of Superman as a Christ figure. - elpayo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Jor-El has a midget sidekick who plays piano duets with him.
"I swallowed a bug." - Ravenlock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"You're an idiot!" "No, you're an idiot!" "Well you're a retarded idiot!"
Ahh, the internet.
Yes, the flying does look similar to the Matrix flying, but what is interesting (to me, at least) is that while the Matrix was exceptionally poor CGI, Superman's flying was done with an actual wire rig in a massive open environment. Apparently the thing could make turns, do flips, all the stuff Superman's supposed to do. Similar to what the live-action Peter Pan film (which was awesome) did a few years ago.
So yeah, all of Superman's flying in the film will theoretically actually be a guy flying through the air. Which is pretty cool. - Stryker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0From what I've seen, it's predominantly tech-oriented, but you can probably submit anything you like, as long is it fits into one of the categories. If people want, they'll digg it. If not, it'll fall off the face of the Earth or something.
Obviously, most of the comments to your submissions will feature 50 people telling you it's a dupe or it doesn't belong, but they don't really matter as long as people are digging it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love this teaser...
Supes flying down towards Earth...plain AWESOMENESS! - markgl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sonic Boom. This is going to be sweet. I know there have been a bunch of superman movies, shows, etc, but when you got something kick ass, you gotta keep it going.
- mogdor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sorry, I'm kind of new on this site, I thought the stories were all supposed to be technology-related. So other things can be posted then?
- Aleks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Does anybody here remember the ending of Superman 2... the final scene is Superman flying with the American flag and plants it on top of the White House. He says to the president, "I will never leave you again!"
Yet he leaves for Krypton right after Superman 2? - J_Omega, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1http://raincloud.warnerbros.com/wbmovies/supermanreturns/teaser/teaser_hi.mov
for DLing quickness - MetalliMyers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't put a lot of stock in a teaser trailer. Hell, I'll go see it... ...it's Superman, it has to be good...
- Kindred420, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0everyone can have an opinion on this.its funny how people think they are always right...hahaha,what a dork
MY OPINION: i thought it was a bit weak for a teaser, but i cant wait to see more. - tetro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Go to bluetights.net, watch the Bryan Singer blogs, and the story will make more sense.
If you're too lazy to go, Clark decides to rebuild a Kryptonian space ship and try to find if there are any more Kryptonians left. I suppose the 3 villains from SM2 makes him question if he's the last son of Krypton or not. Apparently he just finds a big graveyard per se. The other story elements can be found on the main movie website (supermanreturns.com) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Guess I'm gonna have to wait for the full trailer to come out before I decide if I want to see that, because that was rather unimpressive."
what else do you expect from a teaser? I'm not saying that this is the best teaser I've ever seen, because, it really isn't, but there some things in it that I liked a lot. - 12340987, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wait, Y this thing have a scene that looked really similar to the fan-made trailer that came out a while ago?
- Presentlight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Awesome that it has iPod and PSP versions. Kudos to them for keeping up with tech.
As a teaser trailer...it was alright. I wish I had some view of Kevin Spacey as Luthor. NOW THAT IS GOING TO ROCK. - jk_baller23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thanks for the link. You don't get to see much though :(
- J_Omega, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0frack.... ignore that
- conquer343, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Good find man.
- robjules, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0its the music that makes it! they kept the same score from the original movie, the opening scene when the camera first begins to zoom in on Krypton. the music is awesome, hopefull the movie will follow it's lead.

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0can't you freakin' unzip them?
- lilrabbit129, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm not sure how this is "Returns" ... more like "Begins". When I saw the title I thought more about the death of superman (and the eventually resurrection).
- mightymouse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dudes this is facking teaser. Calm the fack down.
I love it how it links to bluetights.com or whatever. Thats pretty funny itself. - TK99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What I think is cool is Brando's voice over, but it made me long for Reeves to be playing Supes.
- Rndm_Tngnt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Teaser != Trailer.
Also, He's "Return"-ing from a long absence from planet Earth, and it seems, for a time, that the world has moved on and no longer needs a Superman. - jrclements, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah, i saw this trailer tonight during the midnight show for the fourth harry potter flick. it looked ok, but granted it is only a teaser. and as i understand it, its called "superman returns" because it takes place after the events in superman 2 (with the spinning-mirror-prison-thing) and superman has been blamed for the destruction caused by general zod. so clark kent decides the world doesn't want superman around anymore and moves back to smallville to get his head straight...
that's all i know about it. but i'm guessing something bad happens (maybe brainiac-related?) that causes clark to decide to put on the tights again. hence the "returns" part of the title. i'm looking forward to it coming out next year. - UGM2099, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"PSP download even better. Nice. Digg"
WHAAT?! Haven't you heard? Anti-apple geeks aren't allowed to prefer Sony any more! Betta Do MPEG. - scooterbaga, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Anyone else find it extraordinarily annoying that the PSP files are ZIPed? Making it impossible to actually d/l & play on said device.
- tactus72, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0From what I can tell in the few brief flying shots, is it me, or does the special effects used for the Supes flying look a heck of a lot like Neo's flying style, in The Matrix Reloaded.
- chrisuso, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You guys sound like a bunch of old fogies who thought the ipod would never make it.
I think it has alot of potential. - 12340987, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sounds right. I think he returns to find lois has moved on and with child.
yes, I pretty much agree with everyone... it could either suck or be wildy successful.
Most expensive movie ever, not completed production and still cost more than Titanic. I think there was even a digg article on it. - warcry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can't wait so glad they used John Williams score.
- Arkitan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can't wait to see Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor.
- caldroun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0When I heard that music and Jor-el speaking...I got a little nostalgic thinking about when I saw the original....Totally cool.
- jgpmom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'll go see it, cause Superman rocks.....I may be 32, but Tom Welling is hot and I can watch Smallville with the sound off and still catch the plot...I would have liked to have seen him as the lead in this movie, just because he's so gorgeous. I'm allowed to lust ya know.
- movieguyjon, on 04/03/2009, -0/+0All I know is that Louis Lane got hot at some point....she aged well
- angelwspr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0poor x3...
