- mysedai, on 01/08/2009, -0/+43I'm glad Mickey Rourke is making a comeback.
- bixby1, on 01/08/2009, -0/+15Rourke is a great bad guy. Rockwell is surprisingly good at being bad. Together, this could be quite the epic tandem.
- inactive, on 01/08/2009, -0/+13Excellent choices! 2 badasses in their own way. Christ that movie is going to make a killing...
- YME1280, on 01/07/2009, -1/+14I'm excited to see Sam Rockwell play a villain. Although I can't really picture it, it's going to be interesting to see.
- Kickinuarou, on 01/08/2009, -0/+12mickey rourke was awesome in the wrestler, he should be good in this
- De4our, on 01/08/2009, -0/+10Every time I think of Sam Rockwell I see his Galaxy Quest character "oh-godding" when Tony Shalhoub (pre-Monk) started making out with an alien...
- Grikkith, on 01/08/2009, -0/+10You obviously never watched The Green Mile.
- ncc74656m, on 01/08/2009, -0/+8Any word on War Machine coming out to play?
- Sherman901, on 01/08/2009, -0/+8Galaxy Quest was awesome
- klitzbtc, on 01/08/2009, -0/+7This is blood for blood and by the gallon. These are the old days, the bad days, the all-or-nothing days. They're back! There's no choice left. And I'm ready for war.
... Rourke = Awesome, I hope this comeback of his lasts a while. - HookmasterCH47, on 01/08/2009, -0/+6They both have SWEET mustaches!
- AmyVernon, on 01/08/2009, -0/+6Nah, he's just a misunderstood, self-centered, two-headed politician. You know, the usual.
- Tiak, on 01/08/2009, -0/+6I suppose we aren't getting the Mandarin then?...
- MAARRS, on 01/08/2009, -0/+6If Mickey Rourke character's is a man damaged by insane plastic surgery he will be perfect. Or maybe Patrica Heaton can play it.
- wrathbone, on 01/08/2009, -0/+6My buddy out here met him the other day.
Said he was a really nice, sincere, genuine guy. - jupaneanu, on 01/08/2009, -0/+5great picks for bad guys, I loved Rockwell's acting in pretty much every movie he's been in
- DevSingh1359, on 01/08/2009, -0/+5No Mandarin? Interesting...I guess they're saving it for the third movie?
- mysedai, on 01/08/2009, -0/+5Zaphod Beeblebrox is a semi-pseudo-villian.
- MuntrealCanada, on 01/08/2009, -0/+5Dugg for Sam Rockwell's mustache
- PixelMagic, on 01/08/2009, -0/+5Is there air? You don't know!
- bjs3171, on 01/08/2009, -0/+5Mickey Rourke was so ***** great in Sin City.
"i know it's pretty damn weird to eat people" - CaptCarrot, on 01/08/2009, -0/+5Can they call him "The Mandarin" without setting off the PC alarms?
And if they do go ahead with the non-PC name, will entertainment headlines run with it? "Favreau Puts Chink in Iron Man's Armor." - CaptCarrot, on 01/08/2009, -0/+5Shh! We're shaping reality here!
- fitzal77, on 01/08/2009, -0/+5Or Charlie's Angels.
- xMothmanx, on 01/08/2009, -0/+4You forgot three-armed.
- DevSingh1359, on 01/08/2009, -0/+4Don Cheadle is a great actor but I still don't think he fits the part of Rhodes as much as Howard did. I'm pretty pissed off that they replaced him...but I guess I'll get over it.
- DeviantDragon, on 01/08/2009, -0/+4Dolph Lundgren = Awesome.
If the movie bombs, it bombs. - TheManikin, on 01/08/2009, -0/+4Dugg for Sam Rockwell's glorious glorious mustache.
- MFoody, on 01/08/2009, -0/+4Comic book movies seem to love following this pattern: 1 super villain and an origin story, um two super villains, ***** it THREE super villains. The pattern sucks. The movies get more and more ponderous. There's this continued desire to keep raising the stakes. I don't know anything about Whiplash and I as far as I can tell Justin Hammer is another sort of boring mirror match villain kind of like Venom or Obidiah Stane. They're casting good actors but the choice of villains leaves much to be desired.
- dereksdontrun, on 01/08/2009, -0/+4Exactly how does "Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell are in TALKS to star as the villains" become "Rourke, Rockwell To Play Villains in Iron Man 2"?
- jordanlgta, on 01/08/2009, -0/+4Putting "RUMOR" or "UNCONFIRMED" before your headline would have been proper. You act as if it is set in stone.
- ScorpioDragon, on 01/08/2009, -0/+4The original Whiplash was a man. I didn't even know they had a new female version. Course I haven't read Iron Man in a few years.
- raleel, on 01/08/2009, -0/+4This version of Whiplash sounds more like Omega Red than Whiplash (the female). Yes, the There is the Ultimate universe male version, but I don't know that it's well expounded on.
- praisethelard, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3Which is okay.
- starkraving, on 01/09/2009, -0/+3Blacklash was what he (Whiplash) called himself when he upgraded his armor. I used to like him as a villain actually, he was cool. If I recall correctly the Backlash armor and whip use stolen Stark technology in them.
- diggduggDOOM, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3You were not put on this earth to "Get it," Mr. Burton!
Who are these?! Friends of yours? Now this really pisses me off to no end. - xMothmanx, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3How bout that guy who played Lo Pan?
- spiderbaby138, on 01/08/2009, -2/+5How original.
You must be a Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan. - CoreyTamas, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3Note to submitter: There's a difference between "In talks to play villains" and "To play villains". Probably seems like a lot of extra fancy words to you, but it changes the meaning of the title quite a bit.
- MRintheKeys, on 01/08/2009, -2/+5Glad to hear he hasn't changed.
- FullMetalNIN, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3Insinuating that Rockwell only does indie movies is quite a stretch.
- Mr.Gone, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3Whiplash is a chick in the more recent comics.
They should call him Blacklash
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blacklash - vat0r, on 01/10/2009, -0/+3I watched The Wrestler the other night and I have to admit it was a great performance, easily one of the best of his career.
I know if I had to wear one of those stupid paper hat/ hair nets I'd probably be a total dick too. - gurtfrobe, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3Will Rourke be playing Papier Mache face?
- cfuse, on 01/09/2009, -0/+3Keep giving Rourke roles - then he might be able to pay for a new face. Save the face, save the world!
- MCJackhammer, on 01/09/2009, -0/+3That's prob what they're going for...
- CoreyTamas, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3The thing is... Iron Monger isn't Iron Man's arch enemy. The Mandarin is. They're saving the big one for the sequel.
- gurtfrobe, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3All they need now is Andie Macdowell as Plastic Jaw and they're on to a winner.
- LupeFiasco, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3Speaking of Mickey Rourke, go watch "The Wrestler". He is amazing in it. The flick is a bit of a downer but is fantastic.
