  • Sornos, on 10/11/2008, -12/+179I don't see him as Sherlock. A perfect Holmes would be Hugh Laurie. House is already based on Holmes and Laurie has the natural British accent and facial features.
    Downey Jr looks just looks like some guy in a period suit.
    I'll have to see him in action to make up my mind, but so far it looks like even Data was a better Sherlock Holmes.

  • inactive, on 10/11/2008, -0/+10That's the thing - I read a comment on that article reminding people that Sherlock dressed up as a vagrant once. Well, that makes sense, he disguised himself all the time.
    My only criticism is that he looks like rather a clean vagrant.
    From this I would deduce that whilst RDJ will play the character well, that he certainly won't prevent the film from bombing.
    The film will bomb if anything, because they'll do their usual - Americanize it (Americanise for us British diggers) and then dumb it down.
    Why do they do this? I don't believe that the Americans will appreciate dumbing down Sherlock Holmes stories or any other story for that matter.
    I mean, don't tell me you seriously liked how they mauled and made a travesty of Hitchhikers Guide?
    The ones who dumbed that down for our friends across the pond should be shot at least to prevent such travesties to great works from happening again.
