- badwithcomputer, on 10/10/2008, -2/+292that's just him walking around- it's how he usually dresses.
- Sornos, on 10/11/2008, -12/+179I don't see him as Sherlock. A perfect Holmes would be Hugh Laurie. House is already based on Holmes and Laurie has the natural British accent and facial features.
Downey Jr looks just looks like some guy in a period suit.
I'll have to see him in action to make up my mind, but so far it looks like even Data was a better Sherlock Holmes. - JudasConstant, on 10/11/2008, -1/+118He looks like a hobo Willie Wonka.
- muslax27, on 10/11/2008, -1/+94wassup holmes?
- EllimistX, on 10/11/2008, -1/+91Well no *****, Sherlock...

- casbboy, on 10/10/2008, -0/+32He looks... as expected. ;)
- streak, on 10/11/2008, -4/+36A cocaine addict playing a cocaine addict? Hardly a stretch!
- DOCKAUF55, on 10/11/2008, -1/+30Cocaine is one hell of a drug...

- cyrix, on 10/11/2008, -0/+19A period suit?
"aaaahhhh blood everywhere!!! GET IT OFF ME!!!!" - fizzberry, on 10/11/2008, -0/+19They must be shooting a scene for "The Case of the Historically Inaccurate Starbucks Cup."
- redfan, on 10/11/2008, -0/+17Victorian England really was like one giant theatrical production.
- damotts, on 10/10/2008, -0/+16I wonder if Watson played by Jude Law will be FAT.
- philmunt, on 10/11/2008, -0/+16I logged in specifically do digg you up, which is something that I haven't done for a comment in over a year.
RIP Jeremy Brett, the greatest Holmes that could ever be. - chrissku, on 10/11/2008, -0/+16Robert Downey Jr. did a magnificent job playing Charlie Chaplin. He was brilliant.
- DrunkenSavior, on 10/11/2008, -0/+14That's the wrong hat! :(
- absameen, on 10/11/2008, -0/+13I bet he'll play as Samuel L. Jackson one day.
- slyzxx, on 10/11/2008, -0/+13Let's face it, this is not the worst thing you've caught me doing
- ace429k, on 10/11/2008, -1/+14now that he finally stopped ***** around all his movies suddenly ***** rock!

That's better. - innocentsinner, on 10/11/2008, -0/+11I certainly hope so. He's an incredibly awesome and fun actor.
- diggrobs, on 10/11/2008, -0/+11meh...
- Dingadang, on 10/11/2008, -0/+11Truth.
- Remy1985, on 10/11/2008, -0/+10I'm too used to Jeremy Brett to see anyone else play him.
- inactive, on 10/11/2008, -0/+10That's the thing - I read a comment on that article reminding people that Sherlock dressed up as a vagrant once. Well, that makes sense, he disguised himself all the time.
My only criticism is that he looks like rather a clean vagrant.
From this I would deduce that whilst RDJ will play the character well, that he certainly won't prevent the film from bombing.
The film will bomb if anything, because they'll do their usual - Americanize it (Americanise for us British diggers) and then dumb it down.
Why do they do this? I don't believe that the Americans will appreciate dumbing down Sherlock Holmes stories or any other story for that matter.
I mean, don't tell me you seriously liked how they mauled and made a travesty of Hitchhikers Guide?
The ones who dumbed that down for our friends across the pond should be shot at least to prevent such travesties to great works from happening again. - leathersleeves, on 10/11/2008, -1/+11http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdd3_qx6Eqw
a gentleman, but not a gentle man. - wautrey, on 10/11/2008, -3/+12See here chum...Typecasting is generally a BAD thing.
- TeacherOfHeroes, on 10/11/2008, -0/+9He looks like a hobo in these pictures, so I can only assume that he is in disguise.
- arcangelgabriel, on 10/11/2008, -0/+9"RIP Jeremy Brett, the greatest Holmes that could ever be."
Say it all. - foo42, on 10/11/2008, -0/+9Say "elementary" one more time. I dare you. I double dare you, *****! Say "elementary" one more goddamned time!
- audomatix, on 10/11/2008, -0/+9My dearest Watson... I do believe we must find some crack to smoke!
- kolobcreek, on 10/11/2008, -0/+8Sorry Robert the cocaine is only a prop.
- sClubDevin, on 10/11/2008, -0/+8I wish this style came back. Those coats and scarves are awesome. Either this style or the 20s-30s mobster style.
- inactive, on 10/11/2008, -0/+8I just pictured Sam Jackson as Sherlock Holmes; now I have a nosebleed.
- inactive, on 10/11/2008, -1/+8wat son?!
- CMiYC, on 10/11/2008, -0/+7If House can get away with Viocoden on TV, I would hope that Holmes can get away with showing his Coke addiction.
- paulsabo, on 10/11/2008, -0/+7@boozer: I was thinking the same thing
anyway, Hugh Laurie would make a better Holmes... - RaulMuadDib, on 10/11/2008, -0/+7You gotta keep those arms swinging.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 10/11/2008, -1/+8Now that he's Iron Man, he's the new "IT" Guy. Like Christian Bale right after Batman Begins, or Johnny Depp in Pirate's of the Caribbean.
Now he's going to get the good jobs for a year or so. - rz8472, on 10/11/2008, -0/+7Now all we need is a mechanical Watson...
