- bluedefender8, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10They are wrapping up the Ori stuff in Ark of Truth. Continuum is a completely separate movie, dealing with an alternate timeline.

In the link you will see that two movies are planned. One (the first, "Ark of Truth") has no RDA, but the other ("Continuum") does.
Although, to get technical, I guess these are movies 2 & 3. Either way, there is a first without RDA. - Racso, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7"The SCI FI Channel in the U.S. will air the final 10 episodes of Season Ten starting Friday, April 13!"
The excitement expressed in that statement sickens me.
"Hey guys, lets mess with the SG1 fans by delaying the remainder of season ten by four months, that'll be like icing on the cake after just telling them the series is canceled."
"Diabolical!"
"Wait.. wait.. We might delay it, but what about those who air it on schedule, like SkyOne?"
"So?"
"You know, what about the internet, those tubes you hear about on the news? The internet makes anything that is available somewhere available anywhere. If we don't give them what they want they'll just find another way to get it."
"Yeah well, that is such a small percent of our viewers, we can still stick it to the ones without internet, or those too inept to figure out how to work it."
Well, I've seen through season ten despite SciFi's best efforts to hinder it. I just can't understand why they couldn't just air the episodes on schedule. Sorry, this corporate nonsense just makes me angry. - demonotaku, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Aren't they wrapping up the Ori stuff in the Ark of Truth?
- GMorgan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8The Ori were mishandled mainly due to the mad decision to kill the series. The Ori should have raped everyone and left us fighting gorilla wars and talking up minor victories. It should have got to the stage where the Jaffa were mostly wiped out and Earth was repelling constant attack. Instead their hand was forced by Sci-Fi and they were left having to give them all the technology of the Asguard.
- Kethinov, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Indeed. That episode rocks. (Window of Opportunity.) But it's the exception when it comes to the stand alones, not the rule.
- samcarterrules, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Nice!!!
- nutsackninja, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Awesome I love stargate!
- CrimsonWeltall, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Vala was fine. O'Neill was the 'fun' character of the show who would joke around and give Daniel crap. Vala at least partially filled that role.
Cam was the one didn't bring anything to the team. O'Neill held the team together because each character was linked to him more than they were to each other. Carter was the romantic interest, Teal'c was his buddy, and Daniel was his opposite. The Carter-Daniel, Carter-Teal'c, and Daniel-Teal'c relationships weren't very significant.
Ben Browder wasn't terrible, but he was too much of a dropoff from RDA. - guytoronto, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10Oh please. The last two seasons have been fantastic.
- AllnightChemist, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I just hope it's not a bit part. Like, "Hi! Here's your mission. Travel through time and call me when you get back. See ya!" I want 50+% RDA screen time or I call gimmick.
- Nothlit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yeah, that is rather dumb. With such a huge mid-season hiatus, a great number of people who simply enjoy watching the show when it comes on TV, and who don't necessarily keep track of it online, might assume that it's already been cancelled mid-season. The series finale aired last week on Sky One, and I imagine any fans who are remotely savvy about downloading TV shows have already seen it...
- Ramble, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Ahahaha.
You arn't funny. - AllnightChemist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5@ Kethinov
Actually one of my favorite episodes is when Teal'c and O'Neill are stuck in that time loop and have to learn Ancient, stop that guy whose wife died, etc. They hit golf balls into the Stargate and learned to juggle. That had nothing to do with any arc and it was awesome. "In the middle of my backswing?!?" FTW! - insomniac8400, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6@Kethinov
Wow, that page is dumb. Stargate went 6 season with it's successful style. It went 4 more because of it's success. It is dying only because the expense of a 10 year old show.(sad reason to cancel a series)
Stargate would not have lasted if it was a bunch of 3+ episode arcs for each planet with Daniel having to learn to translate the local language for the first two. Look at lost, a whole season arc can't handle a few dumb episodes and a few month break in the middle. With a new planet/story every week a bad story(1 bad episode) won't kill the series. With arcs, a bad story in the middle can ruin a whole season. - Zoids, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Its a shame the series had to end this early. The Ori were a great super villain, much beter than Baal in my opinion, and they had some great weapons that we hadn't seen before. I would've liked the Ori situation prolonged a bit, just because they're so much cooler than the Goa'uld.
- muhadeeb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4StarGate is an awesome show all around. It has infinite depth or storylines andd quests galore.
As far as the First StarGate, the producers should at least have Kurt Russel in "Continuum" considering it may very well be an alternate timeline story. I for one give the series at least five thumbs up(max 5). ;-) - adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6"ramble speaks truth. Seasons 9 and 10 were horrendous compared to the previous 8. Cam was okay, but Vala? Kick her off the set please. Seasons 9 and 10 had their moments, but nothing to compare to the glory that was season 8 and season 5"
What the hell are you talking about?! Vala was the best part of the show! Her and Dr. Jacksons interactions were gold! Cam wasn't to bad, he had a young Jack vibe going for him a few times. And while I'll agree that I wasn't the biggest fan of the Ori story line I don't hate it. It's nice seeing them going up against someone that they are so helpless against. My only complaint if any is that they use the Ships to much. It was starting to feel more like a modern era Star Trek then Stargate. - elstevo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Stargate? pfft! Richard Dean Anderson should've done another MacGyver movie!
- Kethinov, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@fulllmetalmonkey
It's exactly this kind of thinking that sustains this patently unrealistic show. Do you realize the sheer magnitude of Stargate's premise? There are whole civilizations of other cultures on other planets that splintered off from Earth at different times and developed independently. Any single one of those planets merits years of anthropological study. Now, while I agree with you that spending too much time in one place would be boring from a narrative perspective, there is a fine line between what is boring and what is simply fickle. Stargate's writing is fickle, and pushes suspension of disbelief beyond the breaking point. These planets with these cultures would have languages that would not be so easily deciphered. It would take time.
You said, "if you were in charge of a SciFi show, it would be canceled in one season."
Oh please. Ignoring the blatant sensationalism of this baseless statement being made by someone who knows nothing about me, my writing abilities, and may not have even bothered to read the entire article in which I make my case against Stargate's realism, I'll just talk about that statement in the context of your argument supporting Stargate's lack of verbosity and go straight the point of the matter: you believe that spending time watching a team of linguists decipher languages would be boring, and I agree.
There's no reason that sort of thing couldn't have taken place off screen, thereby preserving most of the stories the show has already told. It would take one or two throw away lines at best to say, "hey SG15 has been at this planet for three months and successfully deciphered their language. And oh, by the way, we'll have an interpreter with us." For that matter, it would have been easy in season 1 for them to have discovered the equivalent of a universal translater, like other science fiction shows have done. Instead, the writers just decided to ignore the technical problem because it didn't interest them. Personally, I find this lack of attention to detail appalling. - Kethinov, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@insomniac8400:
Perhaps if you had read the entire article, you'd know I did not attribute Stargate's demise to its lack of realism. On the contrary, if that were the case, Atlantis would die with it. I merely celebrated its cancelation, despite my love for the show.
You also said, "a new planet/story every week a bad story(1 bad episode) won't kill the series. With arcs, a bad story in the middle can ruin a whole season." Except that the filler is precisely what everyone is complaining about in this very thread. That, and just what do you think SG1 has been for the last ten years? A giant plot arc. First the Goa'uld, then the Ori. In fact, everyone's favorite episodes are always pivotal to the current arc.
Though perhaps asking someone with your degree of maturity and English skills to think critically is a futile exercise. - b0b0, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Magnets!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Stargate owns me
- Lutz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I've said it before but I'm gonna say it every time someone don't like season 9/10.
And those who are prideful and refuse to bow down, shall be layed low and made into dust! - DrCheese, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2heh... Already have Merlin and King Arthur :P
I could care less what others think about my TV viewing habits. People who sit and watch trash like Pop idol(American idol) or boring soaps have no right to tell me that what I watch is bad television - Ragnar0k, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I actually also loved that episode, it gave an old Stargate theme that's been missing a lot. A general "go to a planet: ADVENTURE!" has been so missed. The same formula that made them so successful in the first seasons. Sure, they fought the Goa'uld, but mostly it was just random encounters and tricky situations, just you know, television fun! Either way, a lot of people say Stargate died when Anubis did, but hey, it was obviously still good enough to keep me watching!
``Ragnarok - Zoids, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I think I speak for every Stargate fan when I say: STFU and GTFO!
- FullMetalMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3@Kethinov
I agree that some planets should have more episodes, but more than two would be bad writing bad writing. SG-1 and Atlantis only got/get 20 episodes per season, thus is every planet got three episodes or more then there would only be 5 or 6 planets per season. Those planets would get boring by the third or fourth episode and over time ratings would go down. SG-1's writing, although it has its flaws, is very good and Atlantis does the same. If you were in charge of a SciFi show, it would be canceled in one season. - johanrocks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This is great news: I was always a big fan of Stargate. I hate how there won't be new episodes on Sci-Fi, and another channel wasn't even allowed to continue making episodes. Ah well, at least we can all be excited about the movies now.
- ZzFDKzZ, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Thanks for the news.
- FullMetalMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Hooray for RDA!!!! That man is awesome!
Watch "The Shroud", you'll see he has put on a few pounds since leaving the show. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@ Dumbledorito
Personally I thought the museum episode was one of the highlights of the season. It was a completely new situation that was like NOTHING we had seen before. I loved it. - Jacksgirl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Sweet....Rick is back!!! I really hope he has a big part in this!!! I agree with allnightchemist 50% Jack would be Great!! I don't think we'll get it, but he should be part of the main story line I HOPE. If not well I guess I won't be buying it.
- nonchallant0819, on 03/31/2008, -0/+0This is a great story... found this one through http://www.google.com

- shanaki6543, on 01/19/2008, -0/+0Richard Dean Anderson defined and was MacGyver, He has also done the same with Stargate's Jack O'Neill. RDA is like a fine wine only improves with age. The reason SG1 was cancel after 10 seasons was the original cast wasn't together. The charisma between them made the show, with RDA as the strong lead. Same thing happen to Starsky and Hutch, when they separated the two, the show lost it's audience. If they want to sell the DVD I hope the movie will have the original cast using RDA again as the lead.
- GraceMolloy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Amen! (re: GMorgan's comment)
- awa1ct, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Indeed.
www.stargatewars.com Browser-based Stargate MMORPG - Dumbledorito, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Sorry, folks. Season 10 had several "goes nowhere" episodes, especially the "trapped in a museum" episode and the one with Vala's father. You know your show is in trouble if you bring in Fred Willard. Is General Landry going to be replaced by a character played by Martin Mull? Sheesh...
And I don't hate Stargate. Hell, I enjoy "Atlantis," but I don't understand what they were thinking with SG-1's season 10. Were they trying to "stall" SG-1 until it could better interact with Atlantis? Were they told to do plots that didn't advance the main arcs too much? - Chupatumama, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Not good news.
The last few times he was on, he looked like he was enjoying BC bud waaaay too much while filming there: he looked comatosed on-screen. - AllnightChemist, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I have to say that he DOES look a little toasted in the pic on the link. Seconds later he was like, "...huh? Oh, yeah. Right. What he said."
- mhummel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1But didn't you know Macgyver is a prequel of SG1?. What do you think Col. O'Neal's past life in black ops was? Macgyver was just a cover. It's even hinted at in the first episode of SG1, when Capt. Carter mentions to Dr Jackson how much work it took to "'Macgyver' a solution..." to the dialout problem.
- raniya, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Stargate...the reason my friday's night sucked...glad is cancel..so go ahead buried me.
- Ramble, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3So half of you think Stargate is still good regardless of the cheap jokes and sex brought in?
Please, this show was circling the drain in season 8. - PYREX, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1they better put it out oh HD-DVD
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0lol thats like being told to stfu by that midget in south park the other week
LOL - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1ive talked to girls who have been like as bad as star wars and star trek is, star gate has got to be stopped. the nerdiness has gone too far.
lol its so terrible, its like combining ancient egypt (ehhh yep nerdy), half naked men (those egyptian soldier guys--- super nerdy + fruity), science babble (nerdy indeed), MACGYVER (ohhhh my god how nerdy can it get...), a main character who is himself a superhero nerd (LOL!), and all that stupid outerspace stuff.
interestingly, from what ive seen, every alien planet just happens to look like northwestern alberta LOL
how much more nerdy can a show get? all they need is like middle earth, king arthur, merlin, and peter pan and the show will be like a mecca of nerdines
hey, maybe thats what will happen in the movie? better gimme a spoiler tag!!! - AllnightChemist, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Okay, so everyone in this thread who even remotely doubts that Stargate has always and will always be awesome is getting dugg down. And anyone simply saying "Stargate is awesome" is getting dugg up. What's the deal? Stargate rocks, but there's room for debate and skepticism.
- jake8689, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2don't tell me, in the states we haft to wait till mid april
