- Harrison88, on 11/13/2008, -9/+74It's an awful let-down. Casino Royale was miles better. Haven't the writers ever heard of a story line?!
- inactive, on 11/13/2008, -5/+51What's that Gizmodo? I can't hear you with Daniel Craig's penis in your mouth...
- tomhump23, on 11/13/2008, -10/+54I felt it was a terrible film personally.
- Regulator980, on 11/13/2008, -10/+54Perfect Bond movie? Best Bond mover ever, period? Please.
Buried as Inaccurate. - Tanglefuzz, on 11/13/2008, -5/+49Quantum of Solace is just another action flick. It's not a Bond movie.
- bloodhound01, on 11/13/2008, -31/+70I beg to differ, bond is no longer himself, he is now the son of Jason Bourne, theres barely anything that differentiates the two anymore, its practically the same person, bond is now just another superhuman secret agent type character =/
IMO the new bond films destroyed who bond represents.
Also, its just non-stop action after action
car chase scene - check
plane chase scene - check
boat chase scene - check
on foot chase scene - check
Most cliche ***** crappy action movie ever, its like a jason statham film, except at least with statham films the action is over the top and you expect that, I don't expect that out of a bond movie. - BigDigg55, on 11/13/2008, -4/+35It better be, or I'll be really mad and stuff
- Frazzlet, on 11/13/2008, -6/+33Really can't agree having seen it. Doesn't live up to Casino Royale.
- centran, on 11/13/2008, -4/+26I agree with you in regards to Bond being different then the previous movies. I disagree with you in regards to calling him another Bourne.
Jason Bourne is a trained assassin. Bond is a semi-trained spy who stumbles his way through things.... well at least in these new Bond movies that are supposed to more closely follow the books.
This is a new/old(from the books) Bond. Just like the idiots trying to compare jack nicholson's Joker to heath ledger's Joker, you can't compare the new Bond to the old Bond. They are completely different! - renesisx, on 11/13/2008, -2/+22No plot, badly edited, badly directed. Too much shaky-handy-cam.
Enjoyable film overall. Just not a good Bond film at all. - magicalphil, on 11/13/2008, -1/+20Its a shame, but have to agree. The plot is non existent.
- landmonster, on 11/13/2008, -7/+23Whoever wrote that review is retarded. Quantum of Solace is a load of boring *****. If you gave me the choice between having to watch a monster eat my children or watching Quantum of Solace again I'd say "Sorry kids, it's been nice knowing you".
- DigitalHippie73, on 11/13/2008, -4/+20I hope the movie explains what a Quantum of Solace is, because my vocabulary sucks.
- vrikis, on 11/13/2008, -4/+19Best Bond movie? haha! No Q, no gadgets, no nice watches, no nice cars, NO FRICKEN BOND ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wtf this isn't a Bond movie, it's a 21st century action movie. period.
- andrewglover87, on 11/13/2008, -4/+16Goldeneye FTW.
- bloodhound01, on 11/13/2008, -6/+16He represents a ***** SPY, not someone who goes out and causes mass destruction and death and somehow no one notices who he is, its completely obvious hes a secret agent, the whole ***** world knows it.
Honestly, how do the "bad guys" not just see him and shoot him instantly, he plasters his face across thousands of cameras, and gets seen by the bad guys at least 10000 more times.
a SPY is NOT suppose to do that. - LeepII, on 11/13/2008, -1/+10Buried, more Digg manipulation by private companies to promote this crappy movie.
- wang1011, on 11/13/2008, -2/+11I think the movie can be best summed up as a Jason Bourne movie without the memory loss
- redhotkurt, on 11/13/2008, -3/+12"Quantum of Solace Is the Perfect Bond Movie"?
Buried as highly inaccurate. I don't think watching Moonraker, Never Say Never Again and Casino Royale qualifies anyone to make that judgment. You have to watch at least 20 of them. Besides, everyone knows the Quantum of Solace is an action movie and not a Bond movie, so it shouldn't even count as one. - VipeNess, on 11/13/2008, -2/+11Great; so the question that I want to know.... how was the Star Trek trailer? ;)
- specialK16, on 11/13/2008, -1/+8I think, he is actually becoming the 007 we are used to. Or at least that what I got from Casino Royale and QoS.
- cathpah, on 11/13/2008, -2/+9And a movie about a spy where he behaved how a spy is "supposed" to behave, wouldn't be a hell of a lot of fun.
Day after day, hiding in a hotel room doing VERY menial ***** while waiting for something to happen....which rarely occurs.
that movie would blow.
It's like faulting Die Hard movies because that's not how an ex-cop should really act. Any retired police office would tell you he "ought to let the current police force deal with the situation" and not get in their way. Wouldn't be much fun to watch bruce willis sitting on his ass letting the other cops take care of it, would it? - renesisx, on 11/13/2008, -0/+6Agree. It's not a bad movie. Just not a good Bond movie :(
- centran, on 11/13/2008, -1/+6You really can't rate these new Bond films with the old ones. It is reset and went in a different direction. They are not supposed to be like the old films.
- Burgalveist, on 11/13/2008, -3/+8I saw it last weekend in Lux. It was stupid.
- icianom, on 11/13/2008, -4/+9Your could just get a damn dictionary.
- Thorpe, on 11/13/2008, -0/+5This is certainly not the best Bond movie. Casino Royale was done a lot better. Buried for inaccuracy.
- inactive, on 11/13/2008, -0/+5Makes me question if the reviewers getting paid. No where near the best bond movie ever made. Judging by Casino Royale I was really excited about this one but great story? yeah right...
- seltaeb4, on 11/14/2008, -0/+4No, Roger Moore destroyed what Bond represents.
- mozidesigner, on 11/13/2008, -0/+4I miss Q, the crazy gadgets, over the top villains and their crafty plans!
It's time for another Golden Eye, that was a fun 'modern' bond movie. Of course the classics are unbeatable! - shownoregrets, on 11/14/2008, -0/+4...dad?
- nickoladze, on 11/13/2008, -1/+5Buried
- rudy23, on 11/13/2008, -0/+4dugg for olga. who wouldnt digg her.
- MoralThreat, on 11/13/2008, -2/+6Your buried for having BabyMan in your user name.
- ClevelandBrown, on 11/13/2008, -0/+4You tried way too hard.
- shibagarden, on 11/13/2008, -0/+4So says Jesus Diaz.
Apparently, nobody else agrees: Metacritic score as of Thursday evening: 59 out of 100. - CTRaiderThe1st, on 11/13/2008, -0/+3Effeminate Bond is no Bond at all, and it started with Casino Royal. F*^k DANIEL CRAIG, Sean Connery FTW!
- n0c0ntr0l, on 11/13/2008, -2/+5This was the worst bond movie ever. In fct it's no longer a Bond movie, just another action movie. It's lost the cheese, the girls, the gadgets.
- goeric, on 11/13/2008, -0/+3This review is garbage. The reviewer clearly has an awful taste in movies.
- jlee2081, on 11/13/2008, -3/+6I watched the film at NYC premier on Tuesday. It was a good effort, but a bit of a letdown when compared to Casino Royale. I highly recommend watching CR prior to seeing Quantum as the movies are very much connected.
- CarStan, on 11/13/2008, -0/+3yeah, i just saw it, and i constantly had to talk with my friends so we could keep up with what was going on, and wich person was whom, ecspecially in the beginning.because they just appeared and disappeared, not really much connected at all.
- gilljr, on 11/13/2008, -1/+4I enjoyed watching it last night. Some people take their movies to seriously. The movie progressed well and was very entertaining. I liked that it did not exagerate technology and physical limits as much as some past bond movies have. I thought the movie was well put together though it probably would help if you refreshed your memory watching the previous movie first.
- Matthews255, on 11/13/2008, -1/+4Seen it in the UK, on release day. Booked my ticket and everything
Poor movie. It wasnt a Bond film. Ive seen a lot of bond movies, I wont say I've seen them all, but I have seen enough to know that they have changed Bond so much.
If you want to see a drawn out revenge trip, which is like the bourne films (i really like the bourne series, but I wanted to see a bond film!), then this is the film for you.
Overall rating, good for action, bad for plot, bad for anything bond related. Also, WHERE THE HELL WAS Q! and the trademark gadgets. And WTF is up with the crappy cars he was cruising in. The only Aston you see is at the start, when I dont really care about the film yet! Who wants to see Bond in a crappy fiat like car! - Wildefire, on 11/13/2008, -1/+4If it doesn't have Daniel Craig getting whipped in the testicles I'm not interested. That scene in the first one was supposed to be hot, right?
- chevriley, on 11/14/2008, -0/+3Perfect movie? WTF???. Best movie ever? WTF????. Bond movie? Barely.
- inactive, on 11/13/2008, -1/+3lol actually I'm pretty sure they don't, they talk about Quantum the organization. But I don't think I ever heard Quantum of Solace spoken aloud.
- MikeFallopian, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2There are some interesting parallels between the Craig reboot and the Dalton reboot in the '80s. Both featured a tougher, harder-edged Bond after years of campy, gadget-happy films (Moore and Brosnan). Both started out with a long, plot-heavy film and followed it up with a straighforward revenge/action tale. And both reboots are extremely polarizing (personally I love both - Dalton is terribly underrated as Bond).
- coldwind777, on 11/14/2008, -0/+2Nice. I particularly like this quote:
"James Bond is not an action hero! He is too good for that. He is an attitude. Violence for him is an annoyance. He exists for the foreplay and the cigarette." - coldwind777, on 11/14/2008, -0/+2a cell phone is not a James Bond gadget. How do I know? Because I have one in my pocket. They could have at least put something cool on it: a taser, maybe a fingerprint scanner. A fancy camera? Where's the imagination?
You know, I understand people didn't like Bond gadgets that went over the top. I understand some are not believable (the heat ray in space has been mention to me), but...so are a lot of other things in movies. I don't see movies based on how good they are as simulations. An unrealistic movie is not bad because it's unrealistic.
And besides, there have been plenty of Bond movies with gadgets within the realm of believable. Remote explosives? Laser watch? The grappling hook in the belt? Magnet watch? That was cool stuff. It was fun. It wasn't too far-fetched and it still made me want to be James Bond. Now? He gets a phone and his boss gets a multi-touch? ***** MI6. I'll go work for NASA. At least they have pens that can write upside down. - h0ser, on 11/14/2008, -0/+2me too, they took out the depth of character and replaced it with chasing gun scenes. Action here action there, unfortunately the action took away from the bond character itself. I don't like daniel craig as a bond, he always looks like he hasn't slept in days and is stoned out of his mind.
