- CCericola, on 10/11/2007, -3/+26Maybe it was made with Ubuntu?
- aznhalf, on 10/11/2007, -0/+16If you haven't seen the movie and you 'show all comments' don't scroll down to the next comment thats not a reply to the first one, some people are *****.
- majortom1981, on 10/11/2007, -5/+18I liked the movie. If you didnt pay some serious attention to the movie then you would have hated it. Their was a lot of info in the movie. Some of it pertained to the last two movies and if you didnt pay attention some parts of the movie wouldnt make sense.
Other parts that were supposed to be funny people didnt get like the huge calypso thing. that was supposed to be funny not serious but people hated that part.
I loved the movie . - oilcan, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12oh snap, he said period. time for us all to stop discussing this subject further!
- ginrummy, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11When Calypso started talking, me and all my friends started laughing.
- noisician, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10which part about Calypso was supposed to be funny?
maybe i missed that, though there wasn't anything in particular i hated about the Calypso parts
actually, i think in human form she is pretty hot - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8after re-reading some of these comments, it amazes me how easily confused people are. the masses have been passively entertained for so long, that unless they are spoon-fed every detail of a storyline with 'pie in the face' obviousness and simplicity, they will go crying to their mommies about their inner confusion. like a pouting child who stomps his feet and smashes the chinese puzzle he was too dumb to figure out, it's just too easy to scream, "this movie sucked!" and run away than to spark a neuron or two of imagination to fill in some of the (perceived) blanks in your understanding of a movie.
the whole style of the movie was intentionally chaotic and confusing to some degree. IT'S A ***** PIRATE MOVIE! it wasn't supposed to be some neat and tidy, clear cut storyline. do you think real pirates of the sea were straight-forward, predictable, intelligible and logical gentlemen? no. they were filthy, drunken, whoring, murdering, foul-mouthed, double-crossing thieves and that's the way we liked them!
calypso is a sea goddess...for you *****, that means she controls the sea and has powers over elemental forces...you know...like maelstroms and storm clouds...hint, hint...did ya get that? will turner said something to her just before her physical transformation to intentionally piss her off...hint, hint, wink, wink...who did he want her to be angry at? if you're to dumb to figure that one out, watch the movie again or go back to sleep. when she transformed from a human woman to an immaterial and immortal goddess, the director needed to convey that somehow. gee, goddesses or big and powerful, so maybe he should make her get bigger? check. (are you still following this?) then he needed to free her from her physical form somehow...hmmmm...maybe have her explode her mortal shell into a million living crabs? sure, why not...but wait, that will confuse people...maybe she should have just vanished into thin air....maybe that would be easier for ***** to comprehend? and for the confused ***** who thought she just 'buggered off' without doing anything...who do you think caused the storm clouds and maelstrom?? jesus? fsm? no, *****, it was calypso helping the pirates to level the playing field against a huge armada arrayed against them. too hard to figure that one out, huh?
i could go on, but what for? people are ***** stupid and there is no cure.
does everything need to be dumbed-down and converted to sesame street simplicity to make some moviegoers feel less insecure about their own lack of imagination? i guess the biggest mistake of this film was overestimating the intelligence and creativity of most of its audience.
maybe next time, the haters can just opt for the book version of a 'complex, confusing' story and read all those big, scary words and plot twists nice and slow and try to figure things out with some milk and cookies by their side. - DarkPilot, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8I thought this was a really good movie in fact, I'm going to go see it again. I thought it had some really nice action sequences and a lot of well placed/ timed humour. There were some confusing moments but it never really took away from the movie as a whole.
If you are unsure if you will like this movie go find some ***** little cam of it watch that and decide if you like it. If you do go buy a ticket and see it properly.
As for the Ask A Ninja review, can you REALLY trust a Ninja to review a Pirate movie? Honestly. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9why are movies always judged like they should be absolute masterpieces of cinematic art?? why can't they just be fun and entertaining? this movie was.
too long? i don't think so. if you can't spare three hours for good entertainment, you should find some other pursuit to spend your oh so important time on.
one of the things i love about this movie series (and don't think for a moment that 'world's end' is the final chapter) is that it never takes itself too seriously. that's the biggest weakness that trashed the last three releases of star wars. it became so serious, self-conscious and self-important that it was no longer fun anymore. (compare the characters, dialog and attitude of the first three releases versus the last three releases if you have any doubts). by contrast, this movie never forgets its purpose for existence: to entertain people (not to become a cultural icon or quasi-religion).
if you haven't already done so, go check this movie out! - EatingPie, on 10/11/2007, -5/+11You know, this is one of the few "Blockbuster" movies to really take chances in terms of plot line and characterization. I haven't read a single review that pointed this out. Davey Jones isn't simply evil incarnate (though he is cast as a devil figure), he becomes a tragic and sympathetic character.
The acting is absolutely outstanding, as well as the directing. They took time to tell the story, and indeed it did have a lot of plot twists. But I'm missing how this is bad, as EVERY plot twist flowed from the characters -- ie, they weren't forced or contrived, but actually made sense because it's what the characters would do.
I'm now wondering it one of those movies that's become cool to trash (ala The Matrix: Reloaded). But, indeed it's a great movie. And if you don't stay through the end credits, you've blown it.
-Pie - Koros8, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6"So you're saying the reason I didn't like it was because I'm too stupid"
You might possibly not be stupid, but if you did not like this movie, it is most likely because you are too slow on the uptake to enjoy anything other than the Barney movie or Spiceworld. - p0tent1al, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8I actually watched this review like 4 times, that's how funny it was. Funny quotes from the revie
"You know what?! It's the exact same movie as Pirates of the Carribean 2!!"
"Every time I say plot line, replace that with plot line, and multiply the confusion of Pirates of the Carribean 2, by a bucket of chicken. ...........that does not make sense at all. Neither does this movie". - stevealford, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5@CCericola: You're entitled to your opinion, so there may be many GOOD reasons for you not to like it... however if you think it was a "crappy movie" because of the plot twists or because you don't understand Calypso's role or because you think Will Turner died (didn't watch the post-credits scene where the flash of green accompanies him returning 10 years later) or because of any of the other "it's too long" or "it depends on the second one for competeness" arguements, then you're legitimately stupid.
If you liked the first movie, but didn't like the second and third, then you're too stupid to follow the plot and realize that it makes sense given the characters as they've developed. Everything is within their scope of actions. If you liked the first one, but hated the second and third, then you are obviously too stupid to follow a SIMPLE plot: you only want to be spoonfed what happens next... *****, I don't see why people say it's complicated... I didn't have to THINK once during the movie and I wasn't confused.
Now, if you disliked the sequels because you didn't think the situations were appropriate or the CGI was bad/unneccesary or there weren't enough *****, then you have a valid argument... but the reasons I keep seeing on here only point toward the general ***** stupidity that grows more prevalent on a daily basis. - tonich03, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8It didn't suck man! It was some good, clean popcorn fun. I loved it.
- KissTheRing, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6What's with all the Pirates 3 stories on digg?
- BT1000101, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5"If 95% of the audience is confused then they failed at conveying the plot."
CONFUSED?!?! Were you on Drugs? Do you have ADD? What kind of a brainless ***** would be confused by this movie? ***** hell, this movie was great, and it was easy to follow! - DarkDragon, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5I really enjoyed the movie, it had really good graphical effects, and i don't know where people are getting the "Its too hard to follow". It had a complex but yet straight forward plot line, whats hard about that?
- Manuelmty, on 10/11/2007, -4/+7Darth is Luke´s Father !!!!!!!
- OCedHrt, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3The problem with breaking up the story for two parts is that Kiera Knightly has said she will not be doing a 4th.

http://loadingreadyrun.com/videos/view/49/How+to+Talk+like+a+Pirate - Koros8, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Great movie!
- aznhalf, on 10/11/2007, -4/+6I could never tell when something was supposed to be a plot twist because with all the 'dealings' it was hard to keep track of who was supposed to be doing what in the first place.
- yahoofrom, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2do you fear deathah?
- gnslngr1919, on 10/11/2007, -4/+6@Scheissen
With your logic, Empire Strikes Back sucked because it needed Return of the Jedi to be finished, and Return of the Jedi sucked because it needed Empire Strikes Back so you could understand what was happening. - Scheissen, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3sorry gnr I'm not a nerd and I'm not into those nerdy films. The thing you don't understand is the last movies were shot together so of course they needed each other. LOL moran!
kthxbai - shampoovta, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1 When the first movie came out I couldn't even get a t shirt till 6 months later and now?,.....
Not bad POTC not bad,....$$$$$ - yahoofrom, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Yagami Light is the Kira!!!

Digg me Down - ThatGeek, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3That was a very good review. It was an entertaining movie, but not as good as it could have been, or as good as the others were.
- TomRemixed, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Great. I'm a dumb ***** now because I didn't like how they did certain things in the movie. I didn't find it hard to comprehend it was just capture, capture, capture, battle, capture, capture, capture, battle. You could call it chaotic because it's a pirate movie but using that as an excuse for a poor story is going a little to far.
Oh and Will Turner is basically dead. He comes back for a day after ten years. He is "alive" for a day. - BT1000101, on 10/11/2007, -4/+4"This movie sucked."
So did your mother. However, unlike this movie, she was NOT very good! - JR__, on 10/11/2007, -4/+4The first movie was great, the second movie was terrible, and this latest one was better than the second movie but worse than the first one. B-
- Silentshadow900, on 10/11/2007, -8/+8Black Pearl was a great movie because it made some ***** sense.
These last two pirate movies, as the review points out, everybody gets to be Jack Sparrow. Everybody gets to change sides.
In a way, you could say that everybody becomes a pirate, but that kind of destroys the characters we knew in the first one.
Oh well.
(MY NAME IS CALYPSO AND YOU CANT UNDERSTAND ME ohno I'm crabs) - noisician, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1of course "Black Pearl" (the first movie) was the best of the three
i don't think there is anyone anywhere who debates that
a better question is: between #2 and #3 which is better? - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+4If you edit out the first two hours, its a great show!
- funkpucker, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1I'm in Mensa kids, and this movie was pretty lame. There wasn't a lot of tension, the romance was silly and overly-idealistic, the characters got too mixed up in their roles, the fantasy-like nature of the fighting, sailing, etc... was too overdone for my tastes. Things should at least be remotely plausible, instead of pretending that cutting a rope and getting flung 100 yards off a sailboat is going to land you exactly where you'd want to land. At least show some kind of struggle or growth.
The movie was basically people walking around each other, talking with a pirate accent, and everyone being happy in the end. I'm sorry, but I'm not 12 anymore. - rlutterb, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Forget it sweetheart... however courteously you say "I did not like this movie" you will get dugg down.
When I release my 3 hour movie of monkeys making fart noises and throwing shiny things, I'm bringing it here first... I can at least be guaranteed that all the negative comments will be dugg down! - matt123123, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Why read a spoiler? http://www.tv-lounge.com has pirates available for you to watch...
- lavoie0ca, on 10/11/2007, -5/+5Firstly: Great Spoiler Free Review.
Secondly can anyone back up his "Black Pearl was a better movie" statement? I thought the second one was a travesty compared to the first one and if this one is longer and WORSE then I won't see it. - sim0n20, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0DVD Release Dates - http://www.allreleasedates.com/NewReleases.aspx?ReleaseDateCatName=DVD
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1I didn't find it hard to follow, however you'd have to admit that the vast majority of the effects did NOTHING to drive the story along, hell, the maelstrom was totally irrelevant and seemed basically like ILM saying 'look what we can do'.
The crabs were kind of cool though (but still ultimately pointless as far as the plot went). - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+3Can somebody even tell me what the whole ***** point of the calypso sub-plot was if she was only set free so she could get big and then bugger off without ***** doing anything worthwhile (to anyone).
- joeydoo, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Here's a how a review of this film should be done..... Kermode on epic form.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/fivelive/entertainment/kermode.shtml - rlutterb, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1Well BT1000101, I'm glad you feel that way...
You've grouped me in with other "brainless *****" such as the reviewers for Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, Time, Salon.com, and the WSJ, all the while grouping yourself in with Diggers who should never be trusted for movie reviews.
http://www.metacritic.com/film/titles/piratesofthecaribbeanatworldsend
But hell, every post that says this movie was bad gets dugg down anyway, so f*ck the critics and bombs away, right? - Quactaur, on 10/11/2007, -15/+13It didn't suck. It wasn't brilliant and some parts really did seem out of place (the event during one of the last fights) but apart from that i enjoyed the movie a lot.
- mercano, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1Three is much better then two; It has an ending, and there seems to be less CGI for CGI's sake. Plus, the grand melee at the end of 3 is allot more exciting then fencing atop of the waterwheel or battle with the unstoppable CGI kracken in 2.
- CCericola, on 10/11/2007, -6/+3I was not a big fan of the movies, however, I found the first one to be tolerable. #2 and #3 were just horrible, IMHO. Like someone else said you spend half the movie trying to remember who betrayed who for what and why. And then just as you remember, it's shaken up again.
- Scheissen, on 10/11/2007, -7/+4Just ban him and other spoilers after hiding him.
